For a local Shanghainese and Taiwanese spot this is pretty amazing gift for GLENDORA. The food tastes fresh and homemade and not too oily for Chinese food. The service is efficient. If you order the beef dish, the rice is an extra charge. They offer soy sauce and vinegar and chili oil at the table pricewise it's moderate compared to similar Chinese restaurants in town but worth it for the convenience of it being in GLENDORA. Our favorite dish was the Dan Dan noodles. We also like the beef dish. The beef was very tender and good quality they offer beer. I am a Taiwanese beef noodle soup connoisseur being taiwanese and this was seven out of 10. The beef is mostly tendon and I wish the noodle were thicker but all in all I would order this again. The food were pretty decent, but save yourself. DON'T LET THEM PACK YOUR FOOD! My son and I ordered beef noodle soup. We didn't finish, so I asked the waitress for containers and wanted the noodle and soup separated. She took my son's bowl of noodle and soup and took my bowl of noodle( I already separated) and couple of dishes to pack. She combined my noodle with my son's noodle in one container and his soup in another container. Wth? We want our own leftovers. And she didn't pack my soup. so happy a xlb place opened in east sgv! definitely has dtf vibes from the dishes offered to the type of serving ware they used. the plates were too shallow and were a bit awkward so we only used a bowl to eat. food came out very quickly with the xlb coming shortly after. xlb skin was nice and thin. pork chop fried rice was just ok. the fried rice was great and the pork chop was crispy and tender but definitely needed more flavour. beef noodle soup was lacking in flavour but beef was tender. highlight was definitely the green beans. super garlicky and well seasoned. friendly service and they're still working out their service processes but we will be back just because they're close and my daughter loves her dumplings and rice. read more

I've been here to eat maybe 10 times. I find the food to be very good. Service is lacking in that you really do have to flag somebody down to get their attention even for your initial order. In the past, I've had a soda or beer, which understandably is a single serve items since they do not have a fountain for the soda. Today, when I ordered my iced tea, I asked the server if it was refillable and she said yes. When I tried to get a refill, I was told that it would be another $3.99. I think that's kind of poor. Of course I think the first server didn't understand me. But even so, I think four dollars for 8 ounces of black iced tea is a bit stingy. read more

My co workers and I are so excited to have a dumpling place in the area! They did not disappoint! We were warmly greets and seated right away. They provided us with ice waters right away too. The place was clean and well lit. We were a party of 4 and we ordered the cucumber salad, pork and chicken xiao long bao, shrimp dumplings, noodles and the sesame xiao long bao for dessert. Everything was soo delicious and came out piping hot. The cucumber salad was still crispy and flavorful. The xiao long baos were perfectly cooked and soft. We wished there was a little more soup inside but the flavors were excellent. The dumpling with shrimp had good filling ratio to the dough and the noodles were full of vegetables. The green beans had a good crispiness to it and great garlic flavor. The only thing we did not really care for was the dessert xiao long bao... the sesame flavor was good but we did not like the grainy texture of it. I had been meaning to try this place for a while and unfortunately it was disappointing. My wife and I ordered the orange chicken, the minced pork noodles as well as the pork xlb. All dishes were surprisingly small considering the price. The pork noodles were fairly bland with the exception of ground pork inside which was just ok. The orange chicken was cooked well and had good flavor. That's the only reason I gave this place 2 stars. I wasn't able to get a drink refill, order dessert to try or have my bill brought to my table because my waitress was nowhere to be found. We were the only ones at the restaurant at the end so it wasn't a case of being busy. Overall a negative experience and I won't be going back. read more

Authentic soup dumplings are here in Glendora! Tried the pork XLB and they were fantastic. No need to go to that overpriced place you all know the name of... Think of Din Tai Fung ish with better pricing. Tbh the spicy dumplings were better here. No fancy place but I'll take that with the delicious food. Everything we got was so good and filling, perfect sharing for 4 if you get 4 dishes. Green beans were yum with lots of garlic and a perfect snap. Chili oil is spicy, noodles are tasty and dumplings are filled with quality meat. Service is top notch which can sometimes be sacrificed if the food is good so that was a nice bonus. We drove out of the way here bc of the vegan items on the menu. The food was mostly 3-4 stars and service 4 stars (from one server), but it's not enough to go out of the way to come back because almost every dish is overly salty. I appreciate their vegan offering and willingness to customize like they did on the sesame noodles (instead of chicken broth they used water to make the sesame sauce). However, the portion size was way small for $11.99, I would have rather paid a dollar more and ordered another vegetable dish. Additionally, the noodles and sauce were just ok, not bad, but not great, it lacked a little oomph. The hot and sour soup was another disappointment, small portions, not spicy or sour even though it came with a spoonful of black pepper. This soup is meant to be served with white pepper and the flavors were lacking. The real ingredients were a definite plus though bc most places just have a few twigs of wood ear fungus and some scallions as fillers, but this place had good bamboo that you didn't have to spit out bc it wasn't edible. The best part was the added egg which is hard to come by these days. My favorite dish was the green beans. It was a nice surprise bc most places deep fry to soften the vegetable, but their's tastes like flash fry which is fresher and healthier, but just a little undercooked. The vegan rice cakes were soggy, oily and salty, but hubby likes this dish so we almost always order it. I was most excited about the vegan dumplings, but the skin was over cooked and overall unmemorable. We topped the meal off with a red bean and sesame bun, both good, but too sweet. The dough was chewy and definitely house made. I wanted to like this place, but it left some things to be desired. If we were to go back, I'll be sure to sit away from the window bc we battled a fly during the entire meal. This is bc they don't have central air and leave the door open for airflow. Furthermore, they don't provide hand soap, but have a sign that says employees must wash hands... without soap? Eww, eww, EWWW, even though their bathroom is clean. There was one lady who is probably the owner or relation of the owner that was basically there to chat with customers, but not help out even though it was busy. Great! Never really venture out to this area but boy did I find a gem! Little hole in the wall in a strip mall, they told me they've only been open a couple weeks. No wait, no frills, but the food is excellent. Just looking at the pictures, the menu and the items look very similar to the dumpling house we all know about . The Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) are very tasty, the pastry skin is nice and thin, didn't break apart when taking it out of the steamer, broth has some nice flavor. Fried Pork Chop: A little salty, but I loved it, kinda reminded me of what Mom used to make when I was a kid. Shrimp and Pork spicy Won Tons: Not enough filling in the dumplings but the spicy sauce is very familiar to what I am used to. Shrimp and Pork Shumai: good amount of soup in this one also, this one was good and as expected also Got some pork buns on the way out, again very good, would grab them again. Bottom line, no frills dumpling house, good food and prices, the place itself is very bland, old bathrooms.... Come for the food, not for the ambiance. If this place was closer to where I live, I'd probably have it on the rotation on places to eat, but alas, it is quite a distance from me, but will definitely visit again if I'm in the area. read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars because both the service and food were disappointing. We came with a group of six, including my 2-year-old son who was seated in the middle. Both servers kept passing dishes over his head, which felt unsafe and careless. When I tried to mention this to one of the servers, she responded with a very bad attitude, which made the experience even worse. The food quality has also gone downhill. First time here. I dine at Din Tai F*** in Arcadia at least 1x per week. Ordered the same items I would there and I can say that it's almost 90% the same in taste & presentation. The price point is about $2-3 cheaper per plate. Service was fine, staff were present. Ambiance is what served with the 4/5 stars. The shopping center isn't the greatest, so I guess I didn't expect much on the inside, but I think they could make it a happening spot. I am shocked there wasn't a wait. It wasn't busy, that makes me sad bc it's truly good food. Hopefully with enough reviews the restaurant will do better. Especially bc it's GLENDORA & we don't have a lot to choose from. Will be back. We came here for the first time on a Thursday, early afternoon, it was pretty empty. The place is bright, clean, and uses natural light from the windows. We were seated right away. We wanted to just try stuff here, so we ordered: Pork Xiao Long Bao Chicken dumplings Shrimp and pork shumai Spinach with garlic Noodles with minced pork Oolong tea All of the food was pretty good, it tastes the way you'd expect if you're used to eating traditional Chinese dumplings. Nothing to really write home about though, in terms of flavor. The pricing here is pretty fair but we did think that 5 shrimp and pork shumai for $9.99 was a little steep.
