Tremendous menu that read like a Bible with lots of photographs, it was difficult to choose. We started with eggrolls and dumplings that were delicious. I did takeout on a Thursday at this restaurant. It's located in Great Neck so there are lots of shops in the area. Right behind it is metered Municipal parking. There is metered parking on the street also. The entrance is tight for a wheelchair. The back entrance looks like it would work for a wheelchair. It's a medium size restaurant. Nice simple decor. The takeout took 10 minutes. It was quick because we ordered the Lunch Special Sliced fish in Black Bean Sauce and Ma Po Tofu. Both are quick easy dishes. I requested a milder Ma Po Tofu which they accommodated. The sliced Fish was cooked well and not salty. The Ma Po Tofu was mildly spicy and the tofu was soft and picked up the flavor of the sauce. My only complaint would be the container. The Ma Po Tofu leaked. The lunch special was $11.95 and it comes with a soup or soda. I think it is a good price for the amount of food they give you. We were disappointed that the pics on the menu of the dishes were bogas and not a true representation of the actual dish...this was corroberated by the waiter who said the plate would not look like the picture... We got a cucumber salad that was not at all like the plate we expected and that went for most of the dishes we ordered....they were anemic! the Stir Fried Snow Peas with Pork Sausage was a travesty...little shards of hard pork on a small bed of snow peas. I liked this place so much I went back the next day after a walk in the lazy river in Great Neck. I asked if they had lobster and they said there is a special: two lobsters over noodles and an additional vegetable dish of your choice for $65 or just one lobster with all of the above for $45. I chose the twin lobsters because I love lobster. I chose string beans as my vegetable, and they brought out a plate of the most delicious string beans I've ever had. I will definitely go back just for the string beans, dry sautéed with bits of pickled vegetables. Then they brought out the lobster dish, which was awesome. I also asked for a side of black bean sauce at my request because I love lobster with black bean sauce but they cooked with ginger and scallions. The noodles were just ok in my opinion due to it being a bit too soft for my taste but the lobster was excellent. I would ask for pan fried noodles next time. I enjoyed the corn soup with seafood, although in my opinion, it should be corn soup with chicken. The seafood they put in the soup was not that good with the soup. I will ask for chicken corn soup next time. This is what I grew up eating as a child, so it brought back memories. Ok, fast forward the next weekend: I ordered chicken corn soup and they made it for me: $9.99. Sooooo delicious, and much better than the seafood corn soup! I'm in love. So happy that they opened a new location in Great Neck! In comparison to their Flushing location, this location is MUCH bigger and has MUCH nicer décor. Prices are also much higher (the only down-side). The food is authentic and delicious! This is seriously a MUST TRY restaurant. There is a municipal parking area right behind the restaurant. There is an additional parking lot that offers FREE parking (but only on weekends, after 5:30pm). 5 of us went for lunch on a Monday (President's Day). We made reservations for 12pm, but honestly, we didn't need to since the entire restaurant was empty! Shocking! Throughout our lunch, only 2 or 3 people came to dine. Again, shocking! I guess this is a hidden gem! This is what was for lunch today (we opted NOT to order from their lunch menu and opted to order these 3 dishes to share): ~ Country style green bean sheet jelly (delicious, unique appetizer; very tasty with a light peanut sauce to it; refreshing) ~ Lamb Chop w.cumin (cooked and seasoned to perfection. A must have!) ~ Fried Quail in special spicy sauce (quail was really good but there wasn't really any sauce). Service is very friendly and efficient; portion sized were large; menu was HUGE with pictures, which is very helpful. Again, so happy to have such an authentic Chinese restaurant in Great Neck! I have actually been waiting a long time for this place to open and it finally has! This is the sister restaurant to the Fu Run in Flushing on Prince St. (hence the name NEW Fu Fun lol). The interior and decor is very nice inside. Bright and clean with a good amount of space and seating and there's a huge bar towards the middle area of the restaurant. I went here on a Sunday night with a group of 3. Since the place is still new, there weren't too many patrons inside, but not completely dead and it was past the dinner run, so still pretty good. We were seated right away, but it took a little while to get someone's attention so we could order tea (PS: their tea pots are plastic and spill everywhere). Once we ordered our tea, we were asked if we were ready to order (we were not), so we took a few more minutes to decide, waiting patiently for a server to return, but then finally just had to flag down someone so we could place our food order. We ordered the lamb chops, sesame shrimp, fried fish, beef lo mein and pork & leek dumplings. I didn't try the lamb chops as it's not my preferred choice of meet, but everything tasted good. My favorite was probably the sesame shrimp because it was what I was most familiar with and would order again the next time I ate at New Fu Run or ordered take-out, but probably the most surprising dish was the fried fish. Pieces of fried fish in a bowl and it was pretty tasty! Pleasantly surprised and pleased, so I would definitely order this dish (sorry I don't remember the exact name, but all photos are attached for reference). On a sad note, they charge $1 extra for rice. It's not that it's expensive or outrageous, but we ordered 5 dishes and nothing came with even one little bowl of white rice. I would think that at a Chinese restaurant, this would be a given, but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, the overall takeway is that this place had good food with a bit of a hefty price tag, a large variety of dishes (photos on the extensive menu help a lot) and mediocre customer service. Attention everyone! Great Neck has a new hot spot. New Fu Run opened less than a month ago and at 6:30pm on a Saturday it was packed. That's a good sign, since many new businesses here tend to flop. Finally, an AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurant serving more than just your standard sesame chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce dishes. Yes, they have those things on the menu but they also have the good stuff like intestines and jellyfish for you adventurous eaters out there! I haven't had mapo tofu in years, not since I lived in Manhattan where it was easily accessible. Seeing it on the menu, I HAD to have it, so that was exactly what I ordered for pickup. I ended up having to wait a bit for my food when I arrived, but I'm assuming that was due to quite the crowd in the restaurant. For a new place it's a shock to see it this busy so quickly! As I waited I couldn't help but peek at what different tables had ordered and I cannot wait to come back for a sit-down meal to try some of the funkier things on the menu. One point I'd like to make is that they already know their customers. When I was placing my order, the woman on the phone said "mapo tofu has pork, can you eat it?" (It's listed in the vegetarian section, which I've seen happen with this dish all the time, but REAL mapo tofu has pork...and this was no exception) That's a good sign. If you don't mind paying $40 for overcooked cumin lamb rib, feel free to come eat here. I drove 40 min here because I had their cumin lamb rib many years ago when they were still in Flushing. It was very juicy and tasty back then. But now, it is so dry that it reminded me of leftover food that I reheated with microwave at home. There is little meat and fat left, except dried fibers. I asked the waitress if this lamb is always this dry or is it just today. The waitress said she didn't know and she never tasted this dish. She didn't seem to help too much. She just wanted to me leave hehe So I went to ask the manager the same question, and the manager basically said the same thing. He also assured me that the lamb is cooked fresh, not reheated. He suspected maybe the chef was in the rush because I got the restaurant 45 min before they closed. Oh, if you can't make decent food before the restaurant closes soon, maybe you shouldn't allow customers to pay $40 for it? I even asked if it was okay for me to dine it when I got there, or I could take out, because I didn't want to rush them. The manager said I could dine in. I ordered food as soon as I sat down and basically tried my best to eat fast and get out by 10pm. What did I get in return? $40 overcooked lamb rib that was barely meaty, not juicy at all. The manager didn't seem to provide any constructive help except saying he will let the owner know about this. So dear owner, please do not allow customers to dine in if you can't guarantee good food quality with a rushed chef. One star for the fast serving speed. I got all my food served within 10-15 min of ordering. I honestly don't know how the chef made it. Would give ZERO star if the speed comes from reheating the food. Won't come back read more

I'm so happy that there is a branch of the original Flushing Fu Run here - there is no other place that I've been to in the US that comes as close to replicating deep Northern Chinese food. The flavors are not "sanitized" for blander palates which is the usual trap that LI ethnic restaurants run into. I do think the food here is less consistent than that of the Flushing branch. Try the cumin lamb dishes of course as that is what they are famous for, but I love the cumin fish, country style pork bone (it's mostly bone as advertised), country style bean sheet jelly and so on. If you like tripe or chitterlings then this place has many options as well! read more

Was in the Great Neck neighborhood last Sunday and had a chance to try out this relatively new Chinese place at the plaza. Given that it just opened earlier this year everything was still quite sparking new. It was pretty quiet when we arrived around 1:30pm and service was quite excellent. I definitely like their large menu selection with plenty of large photos. Prices were a bit more expensive than I anticipated comparing to what you can find in Flushing and surrounding areas but they are pretty generous with the portion size so that makes up for it. Definitely recommend their appetizer line ups as the pork slices we had were very tasty and the sauce not overly salty and I would say my favorite dish out of the three we tried. The sweet and sour pork was definitely very nice too although at first was a bit surprised at the presentation since 糖醋排骨 we though usually would be have a layer of deep fried breading, but definitely this is an healthier version of it :) I wasn't expecting much of an authentic Chinese restaurant out here in Great Neck but its good that New Fu Run has surpassed my expectations. Clean and airy. Love the big parking lot in the back! One of few restaurants we crave. The menu looks intimidating in the beginning so we asked the owner to recommend some dishes. Now those dishes are a must for our family! My son, the picky eater loves the sliced beef (no ox tongue) with chili sauce, the lamb chop with cumin, fried pork in orange sauce, and peking duck. We also love the steamed fish with tofu, tiger vegetables, tilapia with sweet and sour sauce, Green Bean Sheet Jelly w. Red Oil, and recently the Spicy Grilled whole fish. The food here is on point! I live pretty far and whenever a friend offers to drive here, I jump on the opportunity fast. Here are my recommendations from, where the first three are a definite must: 1. Salted Egg corn- deep fried corn tossed in a salted egg seasoning its divine. Tip if you are bringing it home: Put it in the air-fryer for 10 minutes(if not preheating) on top of aluminum foil at 400 degrees, once time is up let it cool until it hardens a bit (typically 5-10 minute cool down depending on your heat preference). It wont taste as good when dining in, but still delicious enough for me to always order extra to bring home, its that good. 2. Sweet and Sour fried fish: Not only is the presentation impressive but the fried fish is perfectly cooked, tender inside and crispy on outside. The sauce reminds me of freshly made version of sweet thai chili sauce and enhances the dish more. 3. Sweet and sour pork: Amazingly crispy even after being drenched in a honey colored sauce, and the pork has been tenderized so much that it looks like thin slivers of meat but is sooo satisfying to eat. 4. Corn pancake (Dessert): I actually don't like corn but this place really knows how to elevate corn to a whole new level. Get extra condensed milk with this dish if you can, a great way to smother that deep fried glutinous corn pancake with some sweetness! read more

I haven't had Chinese food in over 8 months after going towards a WFPB lifestyle. I'd figure it would be a hassle ordering Vegan Chinese food. I didn't know how and wasn't sure if there would be cross contamination from the animal meats. After looking at so many Chinese places by my job this place felt like it was best! And it was!!
