Returned for takeout and dine-in. Lunch specials are available all day, generous portions. The bittermelon was cooked just right in Beef with bittermelon. The chicken with peanuts said spicy but I would've preferred a bit more heat. Chicken congee has small chicken pcs with bones, could be more tender. We liked that the dishes here are not salty. I am happy to know that this great restaurant has made a strong come back. I have not been eating from this kitchen for about 2 yrs, since they were on the decline with a grade pending form the NYC department of health rating. I actually been eating next door at cafe 1480, which i love very much. However, today we came in looking for lunch and knowing that they have A-grade from NYC dept of health only made the experience ghat much better. We ordered : Steam shrimp roll Sea bass and tofu with broccoli and rice / lunch special Congee / rice porridge with 1000 yr old egg Pan fried noodles with shrimp All the food was delicious, tasty and plentiful. I have to admit this place a great bang for the buck and i love to support local businesses. Came here on a Saturday around 10:30 am, got seated right away- the restaurant was smaller than expected with only about 8 tables, 1 worker at the time and it was very dirty. The menu consisted of all the staples of congee, rice noodles, rice dishes as well as a variety of dim sum. We got the beef stew lo mein, shrimp & pork wontons with bone broth, parsley beef rice roll and steamed shrimp dumplings. Received beef tripe instead of beef stew, which was quite disappointing & the soup that came with it was bland. The wontons were decent & bone broth was pretty good. Shrimp dumplings were OK & the beef rice roll was the last to come out (I even had to ask about it bc I thought they forgot)- atleast that was my fave out of everything. FYI, probably short staffed or made to order so the food took forever to come out- expect to wait awhile. Not returning again. read more

TLDR: Looking for a solid HK style spot, Sweet Wonton is a good choice. Definitely get the house special rice noodle stir-fry, personally I like switching it to the thinner rice noodles. Tasty wonton/dumplings too! Little Neck has pretty solid Cantonese food now, Sweet Wonton on Northern is a popular spot for good reason. Stick to the staples but the wonton soup in the bone broth is tasty. It's got that rich almost tonkotsu like creaminess but with the shrimpy flavor that you come to expect from a HK wonton or dumpling soup. The house special sesame stir-fried rice noodles is so good. Salted fish, dried squid, chives - ask to switch to the thinner rice noodles which I think tastes better. The textures are good, lots of flavor and tremendous wok-hei. read more

Super cute, friendly spot. The food is so good. We got the shrimp & pork wonton soup in bone broth with wide rice noodles. Those wontons are amazing. We got their golden fried rice which is yummy. we also got the shrimp rice rolls, and shrimp in lobster sauce. We loved it all. It is a very small HK cafe style restaurant on Northern Blvd Little Neck, but the food and services are good. The wonton noodle soup was very tasty. Every wonton had a big shrimp inside. The shrimp rice noodle was fresh made and again the shrimp was big. The food portion was reasonable. However, they only offered limited selection of drinks (can sodas). Fast, no frills service. Excellent Cantonese casual. Their wontons and soup noodles are excellent. The fried noodles are very good and lots of veggies (which the kids pick out.) The stuffed bean curd rolls in a slurry / thick sauce are my favorite. They're filled with pork and crisp veggies. The congees are fresh and filling. First time back in quite some time and definitely better than my previous visit. Business has picked up here and all portions are decent in size, fresh and hot. Amazing , delicious home like cooked food. Cozy, small, just sit down n order ur favorite or let the wait staff make a suggestion of their freshest dish of the day. This is where all the locals go. Ate here today with my parents for lunch to try this out since my mom recommend us this place when she ate with our family friend last time. We definitely ate and tried a variety of Cantonese dishes like beef stir fry, squid noodles and steamed fish that it tasted great and delicious. The service was also fast and efficient. Really good authentic food! The rice noodles rolls are made to order and have a lot of filling. The beef with scrambled eggs (think egg drop soup) is really good and a big portion for the lunch special. The wonton noodle soup has delicious pork and shrimp wontons. My go to Cantonese noodle/congee place. They have another location on Main Street near LIE called Sweet Wonton King. Some favorites, shrimp and chives dumpling, shrimp dumpling, 3 dumpling noodle soup, their Mei Funs are great too!! If you have a fix for Cantonese noodles, this is a good place. read more

I was so excited to try this restaurant after months of having this bookmarked! However, the food sadly did not live up to its expectations. My family ordered the braised tripe, chow fun, wonton noodle soup, and wonton lomein (it is called wonton house, after all!). The tripe was a 10/10, super good and full of flavor. Chow fun was average, similar to other stores. The wonton soup was disappointing as the soup had a sour tea-like taste. It didn't taste like the authentic wonton soup from HK. The wonton itself is good though, I wish it was in a better soup. Lo main was subpar, lacking flavor & overpowered by ginger if you like that taste! Overall, not sure if I would come back anytime soon. If I did, I would try other dishes or come back to try their rice rolls. read more

Authentic Cantonese food in Long Island area but is small with 6-7 tables. Great for takeout Beef Rice noodles ( Cheung fun ) made to order. I think they stop making it 5 pm or 6 pm. Really really good. Tiny and cramped dining room. But these little hole in the walls places are often the best. And this is that as well. I thought it was going to be a noodle house. But they also have a variety of dim sum as well. All made to order. And all excellent. The beef stomach was very soft and tasty, without being too salty as it often is from those big dim sum restaurants. The various dumplings were all very fresh, plump, and delicious. The noodles were perfectly al dente. We went during Friday lunch. There was a line out the door, and they had a ton of take out orders on the counter. But it was well worth the wait. And despite how busy they were, the staff still managed to be courteous and profesional, a rarity in most Chinese restaurants (although less so today than years ago.) And the menu doesn't end there. But we'll have to go back and try it. Probably earlier in the week so it's not so busy, hopefully. read more

Interesting. I would probably return. The whole block around this place smells incredible from the food being cooked here. There were a couple of cons here, though. I was seated quickly, one of the first lunch customers yesterday. Soon after, many more customers came streaming in. I waited for the waiter to notice that I was done with the menu and ready to order, but he was talking for a while with another customer, and seemed to be busy packing take-out orders. I got his attention, ordered an Iced Tea, a bone soup with pork and watercress dumplings, and a Clay Pot with egg over beef. The wait wasn't so bad, maybe 15 minutes, and the Clay Pot came out extremely hot. The waitress was really nice, showing me how you pour the soy sauce around it and stuff. I saw the waiter again and reminded him about the Iced Tea. "Oh, Iced Tea!" I never did get it, but thankfully wasn't billed for it. The Clay Pot dish was good... not terrific, but good. I was surprised that the soup was taking so long, so I ordered it to go. Things were pretty hectic in the place for 2 servers, and it's not a big place, but they were seated so many people at once. I got the check, went up to the cash register, and my waiter was organizing things and didn't notice me. After a while I got his attention and he apologized for my wait. So basically, this is a GOOD restaurant. I think I would return. If I saw that the same waiter was there, I would make sure that I wasn't in a hurry to get any appointments afterward. He needs to be more customer-focused and patient (I'd be telling him something, and as soon as he heard the first part of my message, he'd turn away and start doing that first thing, missing the rest of my message)... and needs to look at the tables more frequently to check on them. They might want to invest in someone to run take-out orders and the cash register. The food is pretty solid though. Finally, just before leaving, I looked through the windows into the kitchen and noticed that the guy preparing the food didn't have gloves anywhere in sight. He was taking this gooey white stuff and plopping it down into a bowl repeatedly with his bare hands. Might not seem like a big deal to him, but what are the chances he's washing those hands with warm water and soap for 30 seconds? read more
