Mapo Tofu, Garlic Fish, Pork Dumplings, String Beans, & Beef Chow Fun (ig: @cravingswithcat)

We wish we knew about this spot earlier. The restaurant is smaller with indoor seating and they also do takeout orders via third party apps. We liked all the dishes that we ordered, but the Fried Fish Sautéed in Garlic was the table's favorite. It's fried to perfection and is a flakey white fish. The Mapo Tofu is heavy on the ginger flavor and not too spicy. The dumplings do have a thicker wrapping, but it is so juicy that I feel like it's mandatory. The green beans do have a little spice to it, but it's a great veggie dish. The workers are all so friendly and nice, good spot for family style meals! ig: @cravingswithcat

Gotta show this cozy mom & pop shop some love. Small store, BIG flavors! This place is well known for the pan-fried dumplings. They're all great, but I will say my favorite filling is the pork and napa cabbage. Even if you get 6pcs, each dumpling is huge and generously stuffed. I've never had any issues with the service. It's certainly superb for a local business. Staff takes the time to check in on your table multiple times even after you've received your food to make sure all is well and that your drink cups are full. Other menu standouts: - Fried Fish Fillet appetizer (lots of pieces for the price) - Hot & Sour Soup + Chicken w/corn egg drop soup (I adore both of these and tend to order them when I'm sick to soothe my soul) - Mongolian Beef (perfectly spicy + meat is tender, but I wish there was a more beef than onion. Also would like to see a touch more green onions sprinkled in) Lastly, the parking lot is a bit cramped. I've always been able to find a spot, but it largely depends what time you stop by.

Jiayuan Dumpling House in Torrance is a small spot with good food and great customer service. I'm not sure if our waiter was the owner, but he was very kind, attentive, and made great recommendations. We tried the chicken and corn dumplings and they were good. We chose those over the beef dumplings because the waiter mentioned the beef filling has changed to beef and celery instead of carrot and onion. I'm not a fan of celery so we'll try it next time! We also ordered the Kung Pao chicken since it's my favorite dish at most Asian restaurants, but I'd skip this one here as it was too salty and the water chestnuts tasted off, reason I won't give it a perfect score. The standout dish was the chow fun, which we ordered based on the waiter's recommendation. It was the best dish we had and one of the best I've had in a while. Prices are reasonable, the place is small (larger parties would be a tight fit), and I'd definitely come back again!!

I've heard a couple of great reviews about this place so I decided to give it a whirl. It's good but it's not amazing. We ordered the following: Orange chicken: it's made with chicken breast and you can actually taste the chicken as opposed to some of the other places where all you can taste is the breading. You can taste the chicken"orange"!in the orange chicken. However the overall texture was not amazing. Still I'll give it a 3.5 Pork and Napa dumplings: it's a dumpling house so yes these are good. I still think dtf is better though. 3.5 stars Scallion pancake: mediocre. I wouldn't order this again. Lacked flavor and flakiness. 2.5 stars Thai Tea: I don't have a photo of this but it was decent. Not a lot of Asian places will offer free refills let alone Thai Iced Tea, yet this place does. 4 stars The customer service is polite but not very attentive. It's also a small location. Considering the area, I see why people like this place though. I'd go back but I'll probably order something different to try.

ive had this place saved for awhile now. decided to order jiayuan dumpling house for CNY. i went in to place an order for pick up at a later time. the place was decorated with CNY red decor! its a smaller restaurant with about 8-10 tables. i ordered: Beef Onion Carrot Dumplings Chicken Corn Dumplings Bok Choy, Shiitake, and Carrot Dumplings Beef with Eggplant in Szechuan Garlic Sauce Sweet and Sour Chicken Vegetarian Mapo Tofu - Mild Vegetable Stir Fry they are known for their pan fried dumplings. so i was excited to try out a couple different ones. i came back around 530pm and my order was ready, they were pretty busy as ppl were out celebrating the start of lunar year. everything was so good. my fam really enjoyed it all. my mom loved the eggplant dish and the mapo tofu. my favorite was the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken and corn dumplings. parking: smaller parking lot. but no issues.

Good dumplings, good price, good delivery food option In cali for a vacation, and looked for some lunch. Yelp has this place as a local hidden gem, so me and the missus ordered some dumplings to try. Delivery took about an hour. No cutlery provided, but the food was hot even after a lengthy transport. Took a pic from the pool then dug in. The dumplings had a nice thin wrapper and the juices from the cooked meats made them similar to soup dumplings. The pork and nappa were tasty but greasy. Pork was seasoned with aromatic spices which complimented the earthy nappa cabbage. The chicken and corn was heavily corny, which was slightly sweet but not the freshest. The chicken got lost, but there was still flavor. The beef and scallion was the weakest bite, very tender, just lacking flavor. Really needed the sauce to make it shine. Price was very reasonable for the portions, quality was there, and they make a pretty good dumpling. This place is a good choice for those traveling and want something delivered.

Located in the strip mall, next door to Fed Express with a shared parking lot. Very nice and accommodating couple running the counter. Nice indoor dining area with a few chairs for to go orders. I ordered the pumpkin patties, shrimp, chicken & carrots dumplings, pork & Napa dumplings and the scallion pancake. I was told the #1 dumpling is pork & Napa and #2 is shrimp, chicken & carrot. I ordered my food to go to share with the family. The dumplings were a good size and stuffed well. The shrimp in the combo dumpling were the tiny shrimp and I assumed it would be minced shrimp incorporated into the meat mixture. I could see not taste any carrots. Pork & Napa dumplings were ok. Pumpkin patties has a mochi texture, similar to the fried sesame balls but no filling and no sesame seeds. They were fried and I think would have been better with a stuffing like Ham Siu Gok (Chinese. IYKYK). Scallion pancake was thick and didn't have a lot of scallions. I heated them up when I got home to get them more crispy. The order came with a vinegar/soy sauce and a sweet chili dipping sauce. Small portion of sauces with the size of the order. Thanks for the hospitality. Perhaps next time I will try any of the other items. Ok, bye.

I had had this place bookmarked for a while now and finally decided to try it out. We ordered delivery so I can't speak to the vibe or service of the restaurant. We did, however, order a variety of things from the menu. Mapo tofu with minced pork: extremely oily but tasty Pork and napa cabbage dumplings: disappointed in lack of flavor, tasted completely unsalted. Veggie dumplings: lacked flavor Orange chicken: heavily breaded and chicken inside was a bit stringy. House stir-fry noodles: a bit oily, most of the noodles were broken and it felt like it was 50% cabbage and 50% noodles. Scallion pancakes: literally zero flavor. Zero. Overall, pretty disappointing. Especially because a lot of the oil dripped into the delivery bag and made a mess. We didn't finish anything and it kinda felt like a waste of calories. I'm glad we tried it but won't be ordering again.

Classic sit down Szechuan style Chinese where the crispy dumplings are plentiful and proteins are nicely doused in Red40. Love this Beijing Beef style sweet and sour with the perfect crunch of the cream cheese wontons. Was surprised that the noodles were so flavorful! Usually they're hit or miss and mostly used to absorb other flavors.

Tried this place a couple of times. The first time was delivery and the 2nd time I dined in. There's plenty of parking in the shopping plaza and the restaurant is decent sized. The only minor issue I have is that they close at 9pm (8:30pm Sunday) which is quit early especially on weekends. But it's family owned so no complaints. I've tried the dumplings and veggie fried noodles and both are pretty good. The food is greasy and oily and quit tasty so you can't go wrong with it. What shocked me was when I dined in and saw that they have thai ice tea for $2.69 and it's free refill 0~0 wow that's an amazing deal!!! Everything else felt a bit marked up but it's probably the area I'm in. Service is great and it's close by so I'll be back again :)

    Pork Dumpling

We have driven by the restaurants hundreds of times, however, always after meals or in a hurry. So today we decided to try it for the first time. It is located in a small plaza with adequate parking space. Inside is bright and clean, with seating for around 20 people. The server/owner was very friendly and we got seated right away. The menu was simple, clear and easy to order. We ordered the following dishes: Pork Dumpling: they were kind of bite sized and fit nicely in a spoon, the outer wraps were perfectly pan-fried, not too hard or mushy, and the bottoms not burnt. The fillings were nicely seasoned. Beef Noodle Soup: the broth was lighter than the traditional Chinese beef noodle broth, not bland just lighter, it was still flavorful. It was also not as spicy. The handmade noodles, with their perfectly imperfect shapes, were evenly cooked and slightly al dente. The slow simmered meat were tender and captured the flavor from the broth. Won Ton Soup with Side Order of Noodle: the wraps were soft but not soggy. The bits of shrimp inside of the fillings gave them a very nice consistency. The broth was also on the light side with hint of sesame oil. Quite delightful. Overall, a nice restaurant for a relaxing lunch or dinner. Will stop by again very soon for sure.

The good: I will definitely be back to this authentic and comforting restaurant! I got the chicken with snow peas, carrots, and water chestnut and it was delicious. My super picky toddler ate so much of it. It tasted unique, light and comforting. It wasn't overly dressed in sauce and had great garlic flavor. We also had two different kinds of pan fried dumplings. My other toddler and I both enjoyed the deep fried eggplant with chicken stuffed inside. It was like tempura. It was delicious and I've never seen such a dish before. The eggplant was super thin and the chicken was soft and ground up. There were many delicious options to choose from. The workers were friendly and it seemed like a family operated business. The plaza is small but there are enough parking spots. The bad: The restaurant is small and there's only indoor seating. Most tables are for 4 people but they could squeeze some together to accommodate a larger group. For some reason when we came there were 3 other tables with toddlers other than ours so the booster seat wasn't available until partway through our meal. I'm unsure if high chairs are available. My husband wanted steamed or boiled dumplings but they only had pan fried ones other than the wontons in soup. The interesting: The bathroom was larger than I expected given the small size of the restaurant. We got guava hard candies at the end of the meal.
