    The utensils are plastics.
    Mary C.

Food are okay over all. Shrimp fried rice is good. Boat noodle is okay, not the best for me. Chkn wings are good. Sticky rice is over cooked . Condoments are plastic spoon and fork, paperplate and paper bowl which i am not fan. By the road, hard to find parking. Area is clean though. Not a lot of service but to serve and left. Overall diffenately not the place i want to come back sorry.

Disclosure: I'm Thai American and grew up eating home cooked meals and in Thai Town and Thailand. My sticky rice had hard and chewy corners like it wasn't freshly made or it was poorly made. Som tum wasn't even spicy--it actually tasted sweet and lacked flavor depth. The lab gai was a weird texture, watery, and missing the toasted rice (or maybe it was soggy so I didn't get that crunch) and also not spicy and a bit bland. And so the search for satisfying Thai food in the South Bay continues...

    Red curry lunch special

I initially wanted to give this place a 4 star but increased it to a 5 star rating. I came here because I had a craving for thai green iced tea but was also in the mood for Thai food. They're a relatively new establishment and they had some awesome lunch specials that sealed the deal for me when looking for a place to eat. They have separate deals if you spend above a threshold (I think it was $30 or more). Very friendly service and there wasn't a wait. I got the red curry which came with an egg roll. It was really good. I chose moderate spice thinking it would give a good kick but I ended up grabbing more hot sauce to add in myself. Overall it was really good. I ended up finishing the curry until there was nothing left. The thai green iced tea was okay. It tasted a little more watered down than I was used to but it was still good. They only serve the food in togo containers too. The portion sizes felt smaller than what I had hoped to get which was the reason behind my 4 star choice but then I remembered it was the lunch special AND I finished everything because I liked it so much. I'd come back for sure!

Pad See Ew and Garlic Pepper stir fry, both supposed to be with steamed tofu but came with fried

Sorry Spice & Spoon, but you not only gave us the wrong order but gave the stingiest portions of food that were nowhere near the $16 price tag on them that were undercooked and underseasoned. I saw prior reviews that talked about this but I gave them a chance anyways. I came here twice previously and it was good and the portions were correct, both times there was a woman who seemed like she might be the owner running the restaurant. This time there were 2 guys. However, now I have experienced what those other people have experienced, so there is obviously no consistency. What you see in the photos are what it looked like when we opened the containers. There were barely even noodles in the pad see ew, and the portions of both were so small that I had to eat something else afterwards. There was no flavor in either dish, like they just threw it in a pan and cooked it without adding seasoning. The stir fry was more rice than stir fry. Super disappointed as this was a to-go order and I didn't have the time or energy to go back there to show them. Other than that, be aware that ordering medium spicy is super spicy, and I can handle spicy food.

I was excited to check out this place on grand opening and I was able to help them add the business and pictures to Yelp. Unfortunately, the kitchen was too busy and they had to pause ordering (around 5:45 pm) for 1/2 hour. After waited for 1/2 hour, when ordering was finally resumed, the only thing available was curries. We would rather come back again to get a full experience and when operations are more smooth. I'm giving it a 3-star for now since the lady didn't alert me when they resumed ordering so we were left waiting. Hopefully things improve once they have more experience.

Hello everyone! So I decided to update my review from last night as I take the time to re-consider my experiance in the restaurant. I fixed it now and gave my full review below. I would give Spice & Spoon top place for ambience. The indoor seating is my favorite because of the excellent view of the street. It feels like I am in an airplane even though the height of the building wasn't extremely high. It just felt so cool how the restaurant was built. As for the food, I ordered Satay and Pad Thai with a refreshing Thai tea. I would honestly rate the food a 3. The pad thai was very saucy and sticky, the noodles were flavorful and succulent. But I wasn't a personal fan of the saucy part. Although, is all personal preference. The satay tasted a bit plainer compared to most I have tasted so far. The thai tea is sweet, very fresh and I think it tasted very good. Lastly, I have no complaints on the service since the staff were very kind to us. I rate this as a three because the food was a bit of a disappointment for me, but I also enjoyed the experience of the place. But overall, thank you for the experiance.

Chicken larb with no cabbage n a ton of salad on the bottom - zero flavor
    Christine O.

I hate to do this to a new business but Thai food, this is most definitely not. We tried 4 items. They use salad as fillers on the papaya salad and larb. Neither item had much flavor and portion size to menu price did not compare. The chicken satay was passable. The Tom Yum soup had zero flavor, in fact we left the full bowl. All items are served in to-go containers even though you're dining in. You have to continually get up and ask for bowls if you wanna share a large soup, plates if you want to share any item, it's a bit ridiculous. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. Way too many other Thai spots to dine at.

Fried tofu and Chicken Pad Thai
    Olivia K.

I've been eager to try Spice and Spoon since they opened! And I must say, this place blew me away! My mom ordered the Tom Kha soup and the Papaya salad. I had the chicken Pad Thai and an order of the fried tofu. The flavors were fresh, bold, and authentic. Everything was incredible. The service was friendly, and the vibe was relaxed but nice. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting. Rex was attentive, knowledgable, and very kind. Easily one of the best Thai meals i've had. (My mom is visiting from the East Coast and she made the same comment) We were both very impressed. We will be back!! Highly recommend!

Where is the add on option???
    Tony T.

I tried their chicken pa krakpow. It was good but I'd didn't have the egg on top like the picture. I asked where is the egg and they said that was as add on. They did not offer during order and I did not see it on the printed menu. Ask so you are not disappointed.

Staff was friendly and pad Thai was solid. Mostly for takeout but dine in had chill vibe.

Wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon. The Banh Mi had the right crisp on the bread, though could've used more meat for the price paid (something of a pattern). The Pho had a nice rich broth but certainly lacking in size and meat portions for the price paid and compared to other places around SoCal. I got the large and I'd hate to see how small the regular would be. The cubed filet was cooked tender, right amount of sauce, and had a good flavor profile. But again, needed more meat to justify the price. Service was prompt though basic, nothing special and polite enough. Could be worth another visit but some deals or a price cut/portion increase would be needed.

I'm personally not a fan of the white noodles, so having the egg noodles made my meal even better. We also ordered the egg rolls, and they were perfectly crispy with just the right hint of garlic for dipping, it was so so so good! The broth was another standout. It was rich and flavorful without being overly oily like some other pho places, which I really appreciated. Love the food so much that I've already been ordering it through Postmates... twice a week! That's how much I'm craving it. Safe to say they have a loyal customer now. Highly recommend if you're looking for delicious pho and amazing flavors!!

We stayed in K-Town this time so it was a bit of a drive but I didn't care! We went there for lunch buuuut!!! When we arrived, the restaurant looked very dark inside. One of the workers was outside cleaning the windows so we approached her and found out that the power was out. She said they had no idea when it would be back on. I was like, "Noooooo!!!" I had waited an entire year to have their ramen again! We stayed in Torrance for a while, hoping the power would come back but it didn't look like it would be restored in time for lunch so we decided to try again for dinner instead. We stayed in Torrance a little longer because we really didn't want to drive all the way back to K-Town and then drive down again. We went back right when they opened for dinner, hoping the power was back... and it WAS!!! I had originally planned to get the Chashu Ramen but since our lunch had been delayed, I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. So I ordered the same one I had last year, the Kitakata Ramen. The broth tasted just as good as I remembered! Unfortunately, though, the chashu was a little tough this time. I remembered it being that melt-in-your-mouth kind of tender so I was a little disappointed. (Maybe it was because of the power outage? ) But everything else was excellent! We'll be back in LA for our son's graduation in May next year so hopefully we'll get another chance to visit Ban Nai. And hopefully with no power outage!
