Called the restaurant, placed an online order to pickup. Gave me the wrong order and forgot some of the food. Ordered tostones and they were burnt. Called the restaurant back to let them know. The owner said he didn't charge me for the missing food and the tostones were not burnt, they were ripe, which is not true, see pic.

Dope PR food in the southside of Chicago. Food was fast, fresh and delicious! I had the lechon jibarito and my bf had the steak. Both were "chefs kiss" They have a salsa on the table that is fire in a good way! The spot is no frills, the staff is kind. Def will be back!

Good food, good service, short wait time for food cooked to order! Order at counter, clean tables or carry outs. All questions answered, and good recommendations. Street parking.

My usual jibarito spot is closed on Sundays so I decided 2 give this spot a try. Kudos for being open guys. This location used 2 be a shrimp spot before. It's clean, nicely decorated, friendly staff. Placed order with a nice male server. Waited about 15 mins then order was done. Nice!! Well not exactly. I use the alias "Carlos" when ordering out. There was another "Carlos" so I checked the bag and had 2 return. I informed them if the error which they apologized. I waited another 15 minutes for my correct order. I double checked it and it was correct this time. I ordered: a cod fritter which was quite greasy & cod-less tasting and somewhat salty; a chicken empanada which was bland, not greasy and a ground beef rellano which was quite delicious. The sauce that they give u is wayyyy 2 hot 4 me. My other half thought so 2. The steak jibarito was good - had cheese, lettuce, onions, plus smashed garlic on top(?). My normal spot places it in a cup for u. There were some hits and misses but nice that they are in the neighborhood but can use some continuous improvement.

Despite that I made my own lunch today I decided to splurge and give it a try. I've had Puerto Rican food before but it's usually up in the north side of Chicago and that in the south side especially by Midway airport. Anyways the rellanos de Papa was delicious and the feelings were b however the portion seem to be small that's why I'm glad I ordered too usually some of the Puerto Rican restaurants on north make their rellanos de Papa bigger. There bistec platter with fresh salad and Puerto Rican rice was delicious however their portions were small too. The bistec had a red sauce versus oily fried sauteed sauce with onion taste. They had a different take on it. I drank it with the traditional Malta India beverage like on picture. I finished it up with a cocoa flan. I would come back again it was actually up the par with the Puerto Rican restaurants up north it's just I'm surprised the portions are smaller and they didn't serve water. Thus 4 out of 5 stars. Service was pretty friendly and quick. Ambience had a more modern feel with the Puerto Rican Caribbean Spanish music in the background. This is my first time coming and yeah I would recommend if you are craving for Puerto Rican and you're at Midway airport now that I know where this is at

In the picture it seemed like it was regular size and it definitely wasn't. lol The cashier (front) young lady taking my order seemed unfriendly, There wasn't any welcoming upon entering the restaurant. They need to pay attention to what the customers are ordering.

A friend and I decided to hit the Humboldt Park area (Western/Division) and take in some Borinqueña atmosphere and sights. After walking up and down Division Street awhile we stumbled upon Papa's Cache Sabroso. The place was jumping! The weather was amazingly gorgeous and outdoor seating was packed. There was a line for seating and takeout. The friendly host was doing an amazing job of keeping it all organized. We chose takeout and ordered a steak Jibarito con arroz y gandules and a side order of plátano maduro all totaling $22.27. As another reviewer noted it is a tad pricey but not overly so. It took about 20+ minutes to get the food...but like their sign states, something on the order of, "this is not a fast food place and good food takes time, please be patient". The Jibarito tasted good overall like other Jibaritos I've had in the past, however my friend commented that although the steak was flavorful, it was a tad chewy and I would slightly agree. The mayo, tomato and garlic kind of brings it all together for me, but I would've liked way more garlic...and there was even a small container of garlic "sauce", but it was very light on the mashed garlic paste. Whenever I dipped my plátano maduro, I couldn't get any pieces of garlic on until most of the olive oil was gone. The rice was standard and flavorful and I really did enjoy the plátano maduro. I would probably return to try the garlic chicken.

I was not a huge fan of the fried pork belly.. it was like I liked it bc I was hungry but I didn't like it enough to come back and order it again.. We were greeted with a smile and guided to choose our own table. A basket of bread and butter was brought over promptly. I ordered appetizers, tostones rellenos de lechón and carne frita. They came out at the same time as the entrees. It only took about 10 minutes! We ordered a volcan with steak in red sauce (mofongo relleno de bistec en salsa), breaded chicken breast and lechón with arroz con gandules. The food was spectacular! Everything was very well seasoned and reminded me of home (born and raised in PR, moved here as an adult). I would definitely recommend that anyone come here for authentic Puerto Rican food. Be mindful that they are very generous with their portion sizes. We ended up taking about half of it home. There are worse problems one can have. :-)

The stewed beans in the rice&beans is probably the best I've ever had - and I eat a lot of stewed beans. The pork chops were deliciously seasoned but it was a tad overcooked for me (I like my pork pink) - but this is forgivable knowing that most Americans will faint if served pink pork. I also ordered the bacalao fritter. It's more like a pancake rather than a fritter and you can certainly taste the bacalao. It did not travel well (most crispy fried things don't) but a couple of minutes in my air fryer brought it back to life. I also had the chicken empanada and it was great. This place is highly recommended for lunches or maybe even dinner if you are too lazy to cook. Will order again and try other dishes.
