Amazing sushi here!! So fresh and all the flavors come together perfectly. Service is great! We had to try at least one of everything cuisine- Dan Dan noodles, popcorn chicken, chicken wings, sushi and a great plus to have alcohol served instead of having to BYO. The soju is amazing. We always stop by when we are around the neighborhood!

I can't speak to the ambiance or service since we ordered takeout. They had a BOGO deal at the time, so we got 2 edamame and 2 spicy tuna rolls with it. The sake rolls were not part of the deal. A lot of places just have salmon in their sake rolls, so I enjoyed that it also had cucumber. It gave it a tiny crunch without distracting from the flavor. The mango cheesecake was really good. We ate that really quickly. The caramel crunch cake was also good. It does have that salty flavor. I'm more of a sweet person, so I preferred the mango cheesecake.

More than just sushi, has a plethora of Chinese food as well! Got dinner here on our way to the barcade down the street. Though it has a lot to cover on the menu, our foods were better than we expected. Cocktails are a skip since they seemed a bit heavy on the artificial sugars. Takeout orders were flying off the rails while we ate so it must be popular with the locals!

We got jieyi sushi delivered and oh my god it was SO delicious and I really wish I had more photos but we devoured the triple s roll and the California hand rolls so fast I didn't get a chance to snap a pic. We also got spicy tuna hand roll and it was fine but oh my god the California hand roll and the triple s roll were just so good, a generous size and so filling and beautiful I'm simply in awe. It's just classically solid affordable sushi and maybe it hit different in a late night but it was exactly what I needed

Horrible service and food!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. I had ordered the miso ramen which was recommended to me but it was really salty. Not once has anybody came to our table to check up on us, we had to walk over to the counter and grab NAPKINS AND HOT SAUCE!! Towards the end when I went to the counter to pay I had decided to not tip and the guy was telling me I HAD to tip $10 just because I ate at the restaurant. I explained to him that I don't want to tip because the food was not good and the service wasn't good either. After going back and forth he told my family and I were never welcome there again. As I was heading out the door the owner? said to us FUCK YOU YOU CHEAPS. It was a tall chubby Asian guy that works there who had told us that.

Ordered take out and was not impressed with the food here. Maybe I should have ordered the sushi instead of the hot entrees. Got the sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, and veggie egg roll. Portions are very large I would say 2 people can share 1 entree. I had to do a double take on my order bc the veggie egg rolls had a very strange flavor as if they had meat in them. They were horrible. The chicken entrees were just ordinary nothing special. The sweet and sour sauce has bell peppers in it and that seems to overtake the flavor. Staff was sooo friendly and nice. I would try the sushi in the future but skip the hot entrees.

Definitely PAN-ASIAN, and not just Japanese sushi restaurant. Serves variety of Thai and Chinese dishes. Strongest performance is with the Japanese dishes. Food: Fried calamari - 5/5 - battered, salty style with jalapeños and variety of dipping sauces, a favorite! Whenever my family and I are craving sushi, our go-to spot is Jieyi Sushi! Our usual order: Teriyaki Chicken- 5 sticks ($7.95) Chunks of chicken on a stick. Juicy. Tender. Savory with the sauce combined. Ocean Salad ($13) If you like seaweed salad and sashimi, get this! Spicy House Noodle w/ Chicken ($13.95) Yummy stirred fried rice noodles with veggies. Comes with a slice of lime, which pairs well with the spices in this dish. Dragon Boat Sushi Set ($35) This comes with 8 pieces of sashimi and 6 pieces of sushi, along with a classic maki of your choosing (we got crunchy). Trio Delight Specialty Roll ($14) One of my top faves! This roll has scallop, shredded crabmeat, cucumber, sprouts, topped with salmon, avocado, and thinly sliced lemon. This roll tastes fresh, especially with the acidity from the lemon. Yum! Triple 'S' Specialty roll ($15) This roll is bomb diggity- the staff used to light the foil that the roll comes in with fire, but they stopped doing it. Still taste the same with or without fire, delish! Tasty quality fish. Great ambiance. Friendly, accommodating staff.

Great sushi place in Wicker park! We came on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and it wasn't busy at all - we were 1 of 2 tables seated. The sushi was very delicious and one of the better quality places I've had. We had a party of 4 and ordered their dragon boat which comes with a roll that you can pick, dragon, caterpillar and unagi rolls, miso ramen and for appetizers a miso soup, edamame and their bao buns. We also ordered a green tea smoothie - it didn't come with boba and we weren't sure if that was option to add it in, it wasn't clear on the menu. I think everyone at our table were very satisfied with the quality in which the rolls were out together. The miso ramen also was really good. We used a Groupon on our meal - a pretty great deal that I would recommend for parties of 4 or more. One thing that I would add for improvement was that all the rolls were placed on the dragon boat that several of us had. It was a little harder to get to and would have rather had the separate rolls placed on separate plates. They also have a parking lot that they share with the vet clinic next door which was awesome as street parking seemed a little hard to find. Price point wise in my opinion they were on the more expensive end of the spectrum of places we have been too - not sure if the experience warrants it. All in all not a bad place to try out. read more

Amazing place! The sushi is very fresh and the flavors are both delicate and interesting. Presentation was excellent. They have a great variety of Asian food and all of it was great. I got parang curry and it was different but in a great way. Everything again is super fresh. Service is fast and friendly. They have these cool tables that are in these enclosed sections by the window with cushions -- very fun and my kids love sitting there. Kind of built in entertainment while waiting for the food. read more

One of the rudest I've been talked to while placing an order. The person who took my order rushed me through it and said "we will figure it out when you get here, we are super busy right now." Then I had to call and cancel because I wasn't able to come pick up the order. Not kidding, 1 minute after placing and a different woman got upset and said "we have already started making it." I apologized and said something came up with work and I couldn't get there to pick it up. She responded with "um alright" and hung up. Get it together people. read more

Fresh very cold sashimi, excellent white tuna. The food is as good as any other place. I would have given five stars, but the servers do not understand English and this is not acceptable. I hope they get things straightened out as they just opened. Feedback is a gift. Why would anyone want to eat where their orders are not clear and easily understood? A $40 dollar lunch deserves servers who are helpful, clear and accessible. read more

Ok this lunch special is unreal. Also, the people who work here are so nice! If you want to dine in at a sushi restaurant, I'd say this isn't really the place, although it's nice enough inside and BYO. For me, it's more of a takeout staple. The food isn't the greatest out of what's around (considering there's a TON of sushi spots in Wicker), but it's still pretty good and CHEAP. read more

This is on pad see ew delivery. It's not pad see ew, the noodles are so thick, they as if like five noodles of real pad see ew noodles were stuck together. It also didn't seem fresh, the noodles looked old, they weren't even all completely brown. Some were like a light brown with white edges, what? That's what I get for ordering Thai food from a place that isn't a Thai restaurant I guess. Could only eat a few bites (like the other reviewers from years ago). My husband said the Chinese fried rice is good though, so they can get a star back for that. read more

The place I used to get my sushi closed due to covid-19 and given that I had driven 30-35 mins I didnt want to go home empty handed. So I looked for one that did have takeout. I found this one had pretty good reviews and decided to check it out. I ended up here. I was blown away how good this sushi was! It has become my go-to sushi place! It so blown away by the quality, the taste, that I just had to have another time. So the next day I drove 35 mins just get more of delicious sushi!! You just earned a new loyal customer! read more

Ordered the Sesame Chicken and Crab Rangoon. Sesame Chicken is deliciously saucy and they do mean lightly battered, no overly thick breaking here. I would say that you get enough for a couple meals, so it's a decent price. Crab Rangoon are very creamy and on the sweet side, but definitely some of my favorites since I moved to town! read more

Great sushi spot! Have a wide variety of asian cuisine to pick from. Gyoza was steamed not pan fried which I appreciated ! Ordered the tuna (added avocado) Mali super super fresh tuna!!! Also ordered the white angel... all fresh and delicious. Two of us shared ramen as well. Pork belly in ramen was cooked perfectly but the sushi is the real star! when I return i will come hungry and try more of their maki rolls :.. YUM read more

we really enjoyed our dinner at Jieyi Sushi. Staff is extremely friendly, with quick service (!!), sushi came out fast. It wasn't very crowded but then again it's a Sunday night. What a dump,!came in Saturday afternoon the restaurant was empty, before ordering used the bathroom , it was dirty, used paper towels all over the place,smelled,I can understand if the restaurant is super busy it can happen, but not 4 o'clock weekend when the place is empty. We tried to use a Groupon which was for 4 people, since it was only 3 of us the waitress Sur refused to take our order, had negative attitude in general Very unfriendly I tried to explain her that my adult daughter running late and we ordering for her, but she said "Groupon 4 people you three people"definitely will not go to this place again, a lot of great restaurant around with excellent service which this place is lacking.This review about the service and condition of the bathroom, not about the food which we had no luck to try read more

I have tried the restaurant a number of times. The sushi is lovely and staff were helpful. The former restaurant Usagi Ya was my favorite in the city and I miss the exotic cocktails and the ambiance. I don't care for sports tv and the panang shrimp was heavy and not what I am used to in Thai restaurants. I intend to try some other dishes and give them a chance to win me over. I ordered takeout sushi from this restaurant on a Friday night. The sushi was nothing to write home about, the fish didn't seem very fresh. I had a Spider Roll and a Bagel Roll. The Spider Roll had very small amount of soft shell crab and was mostly shredded crab. The Bagel Roll was alright, about equal portions of salmon, avocado, and cream cheese. There are plenty of good options for sushi in Chicago, I would let this one pass you by. read more

I'm not sure how people think this place is okay. Everything is greasy and grimy - the walls, the windows, the menus. The sushi rolls were sloppy and the fish was not fresh and maybe not even the fish it was advertised as? The "yellowtail" was strangely tough and looked like it was dyed or something. we got back very late from an extremely delayed flight. this was like the only place open. i got the red curry with tofu. oh my gosh, not only was there a large portion, but it was absolutely delicious! blew my expectations out of the water. definitely recommend for some late night munchies :) read more

I cannot believe the service I got here! Paul the host and waiter is one of the most kind and giving people I have met. I went in there for late-night takeout but Paul pulled me in to a table to sit with his friends (sup guys). We grabbed drinks and he made me feel right at home. Jieyi is my regular Friday night thing....where I bring the old lady so we can get our rocks off... and let me tell you she can put away the sushi. Thats whats great about this place.... they provide a romantic ambiance....dishing out premium sushi without breaking the bank. Paul is a host that delivers award winning service with a warm personal touch that will keep you coming back for more. Tonight we had 4 deluxe rolls ( of the x2, Godzilla , White Angel) and loved every bite. But with both my life partner and I weighing in at well over 2 bills each we were not finished. Despite each of us initially consuming a generous bowl of miso soup laced with lots of tofu followed by a well portioned seaweed salad medley, our voracious appetites were not quelled. For the finale we devoured 7 fat peices of maguro (Tuna) plus 2 peices of ono (white tuna) sashimi that melted in our mouth. The whole time we greedily washed this artful array of sushi down with 3 pots of green tea never once having to ask for a refill. Hugo the hmfic and head chef made us a delicious traditional dessert that we destroyed in under 1 minute despite being stuffed to the gills. We left laughing exchanging pleasantries with the staff, determined to come next week and eat even more! read more

The flavors in their food are authentic and consistent, I have been here a number of times and the foods taste is consistent to the first time I purchased it to the most recent. The bacon was quite salty, compounded by the okonomi sauce. Hoping the kombu vegetables would offset this, I mixed them into each bite to no avail. The pandan coconut mochi donut holes I chose were probably the highlight. They were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and there was ample sauce for dipping. I think some people would find the service top notch here--constantly checking in on me and keeping water refilled. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

Then wiped his fingers on a dirty rag and proceeded to finish making the bowls. A short time later, we were served that same bowl of ramen. Watching an employee use their bare hands and mouth on food that was then served to a customer was extremely concerning and completely unacceptable from a food safety and hygiene standpoint. It ruined the experience and made us lose confidence in the restaurant's food handling practices. I hope management takes this seriously, retrains their staff on proper food safety procedures, and ensures this doesn't happen to anyone else.

The shredded cabbage side salad is also mediocre. Dressing was weak and the cabbage could've been cut thinner. People I went with told me "maybe you just got the wrong things" but I don't think a chef should have losing items on their menu to begin with. Overall quite disappointed considering the name attached to this place.

The prime sliced brisket is sooo good and the reason I keep coming back. It's smoky, juicy, super tender, and has that perfect fatty edge when you get a good slice. I also have to mention the elote and cornbread because I get them almost every time. The elote is creamy, a little spicy, and goes so well with all that smoky meat. The cornbread is sweet, soft, and perfect alongside the brisket. The service is always really nice. Everyone behind the counter is friendly while you're ordering and they're weighing out the meat, and then after you pay it's self-service. The whole setup is awesome. There's a big open indoor seating area that kind of reminds me of a food hall, with drinks, a coffee shop inside, and big screens where they sometimes have sports on. When the weather is nice, sitting outside is even better. That whole little area around Green Street with the other restaurants nearby has such a good vibe. I've been three different times and somehow my tray ends up looking almost identical every visit, which says everything you need to know. The brisket, elote, and cornbread have basically become my order at this point. Easily my go-to when I'm craving BBQ in Chicago.

I paid a visit to this establishiment because I love sushi and I wanted to check it out. Upon entering I felt like the ambience was elegant and tasteful. I chose the seat by the window which was a booth with pillow cushions which was very comfortable. I already knew what I wanted to order even before I got the menu but when I gave the menu a look I saw way more options. My server Paul was amazing! Very knowledgeable of the plates and recommended a delicious option based on my sushi preferences. I ordered the Rock n' Roll roll which was a very tasty combonation of octopus, grab, and salmon. Paul also brought other dipping sauces to try out with the rolls. One sauce was a sweet soy sauce which brought out the flavor of the roll. Overall, my experience at Jieyi Sushi was excellent!
