I visited this NTB location about a month or so ago, and it was one of the hottest days of the year. The air conditioning was not working, and it was extremely hot inside the building. I was so concerned that I contacted NTB's corporate office because no employee or customer should have to be in those conditions. The supervisor I spoke with assured me they would look into it. Now it's July 2026, and every time I drive past this location, I still see the doors wide open, which makes me believe the air conditioning still hasn't been repaired. If that's the case, I find it very disappointing. The employees were doing their best, but they were visibly sweating behind the front counter. I felt so bad for them that I went and bought everyone water. While they appreciated it, water doesn't solve the problem when people are working in excessive heat all day. In my opinion, it's unacceptable for employees to work in those conditions, especially while servicing vehicles. Businesses have a responsibility to provide a safe and reasonably comfortable work environment for both their employees and customers. Again, this review is not a reflection of the employees. They were courteous, respectful, and working hard despite the circumstances. My concern is with management's apparent failure to address what seems to be an ongoing issue after it was reported. This location also appears to be in need of significant updates. Until these conditions are corrected, I can't recommend this location. I sincerely hope NTB makes this a priority not just for its customers, but for the employees who show up to work there every day. They deserve better.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS: Predatory Upselling & Unethical Practices at NTB Central Ave…read more The "gotcha" experience is, unfortunately, very real at the NTB located on Central Ave in Capital Heights. I have visited this location multiple times, and every single time, they engage in aggressive, unnecessary upselling--often pushing repairs that are not needed. The Incident On April 17, 2026, I visited this location for the last time for a simple tire alignment. Less than an hour after dropping off my vehicle, I received a call claiming they could not perform the alignment because I allegedly needed new lower control arms, quoting me $1,500 for the repair. I immediately told them to stop and went to retrieve my vehicle. Lack of Professionalism When I returned to pick up my car, I found my passenger window left wide open, leaving my vehicle completely exposed. When I asked the front counter staff for an explanation, they had no answer and were visibly confused--stuck like deer in headlights. I took my vehicle and left immediately. The Comparison The very next day, I took my vehicle to a different NTB location. The experience was night and day. The staff walked me around my entire vehicle, transparently explaining what services I needed now versus what might be needed in the future. None of their recommendations included the "required" lower control arms that the Central Ave location insisted upon. They completed the alignment without issue, and I was on my way. Final Warning After numerous engagements with this specific NTB, I can only describe it as a price-gouging money pit. These individuals lack basic morals and ethics and are actively trying to scam customers--especially the elderly(I listened to the Customer Service Agent Try to upsell a smart Elderly lady on at least 4 additional services). From a $400 battery to these fabricated $1,500 "repairs," their business practices are fraudulent. I will be contacting the State's Attorney and the Better Business Bureau to file a formal report. On September 5, 2025, an inspection at Bowie Auto Clinic determined that my vehicle's front brakes were fully operational but would likely require replacement around my next oil change. The following day, on September 6, 2025, I took the vehicle to Midas for a brake inspection. The technician recommended replacing the front and rear brakes, including the rotors. Given that I occasionally tow an 11,000-pound travel trailer, I authorized the repair at the quoted price of $2,171.15 to ensure optimal safety. The repair, scheduled for completion on Saturday, was not finished until Tuesday, September 9, 2025. During this time, I made repeated attempts to contact the shop for a status update. Upon my arrival to pick up the vehicle, I requested a pre-payment inspection. When I pressed the brake pedal, it went completely to the floor, indicating a total loss of braking function. I immediately informed the receptionist that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and requested to speak with the technician and the manager. When the manager became available, he was verbally abusive and demanded payment, claiming the vehicle was repaired. I explained that the vehicle was not in a drivable condition and stated that I would not be paying until the repair was completed to my satisfaction. In response, the manager threatened to charge a $50 daily storage fee. The next day, I paid to have my vehicle released and towed to another automotive establishment for a secondary brake inspection. Their findings were alarming; they determined the brake work performed by Midas was not completed properly and posed an imminent risk of complete brake failure if the vehicle had been driven. I have since contacted my attorney regarding this matter and have filed a dispute with the Maryland Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau. Mr. Ayala said he'd pick up the battery on the way just in case - having gotten the information I had on hand for my make and model, and my equipment preference if it came to that. He also said that I wouldn't be charged for the battery if it wasn't needed - regardless of him making this outlay. As promised, he showed up about 45 minutes after our call - this is with him driving up to Baltimore. When he arrived, Mr. Ayala looked at the battery, said it was 2 years old, no corrosion - relatively young for the equipment. That it probably would be just a jump start (I had left the car sitting for too long). He then promptly walked me through the steps to jump it, while attaching the cords to the outlets. The car started. Then he had me turn it off without the cords attached to check that it still started, which it did. The service was $85. Perfectly reasonable. Convenient and timely, as well, and I found him to be pleasant and knowledgeable.
