Do NOT go here for anything. I went in for a simple oil change and next thing I knew my car was stalling out and needed a tow. When I brought it to the dealership they discovered that 1. My oil filters had not been changed (supposed to happen during every oil change) and 2. I had double the amount of oil I should have, meaning they forgot to drain the existing oil while filling it. My car was overflowing with oil after I paid them close to $100 to do a simple oil change. If they don't know how to do this I wouldn't trust them with anything. read more

Wow, yelpers. Only a 3-star average for Jiffy Lube? I feel sorry for Kara W. though because that brake story totally sucks. I went to the Jiffy Lube in SF as well and I'm impressed with how consistent their quality and level of service is. I got right in during a somewhat busy time and before I even decided to get the oil changed and tires rotated, I gave them a call to see if, based on my manufacturer's recommendations, a tire rotation was needed at all. They gladly helped me over the phone. Every employee had a smile on his face and was super chipper. I went straight inside, sat my ass down and drank some fresh coffee. When it was my turn to go over my "estimate" of work needed, I didn't feel like they were trying to push me into buying a new cabin filter or air filter. I felt he was extremely honest and genuine. He informed me I could go another 3,000 miles with my same filters which I appreciated because damn, they definitely looked a little too dirty for me but hey, they're the experts! So, that saved me however much $$ it costs to replace those things. They rotated my tires, pumped air into them, and recommended a few tire stores to check out because I have a hunch one of my tires is leaking air (Jiffy doesn't "do" tires). I love my experiences every time I come in here. I am very impressed with everyone at the Jiffy on Clybourne and I will definitely be back here any and every time I need an oil change. They did mine and my girlfriends cars. They left her air box completely open. I had to take it back. They overfilled my oil and caused me to blow a gasket. Saving time and money on an oil change is now going to cause me to lose both. If I could successfully file a law suit against this place I would. If there were a choice to choose no stars I would. Took my car in for a maintenance oil change and once I left the check engine light went on. Took it back (3 different times) and each time no explanation, they turned the light off and that was that. Brought it back a 4th time and then was told something was wrong with the car. I was told by the store manager and district manager I would have to pay myself because it was not their fault. But mind you my car has not ever had any issues prior to the oil change. How unprofessional. This was not a coincidence either. The store manager also sat on YouTube for help under the hood of my car. read more

The staff at this location are very friendly, and courteous. I was in and out in about 20 minutes this past Monday. If you have to get your oil changed, TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! I have really never had a good experience when it comes to dealing with my car and having things fixed, maintained, etc...but I drove up the other day and was warmly greeted. I had my dog with me as well, and they were very accomodating and let me bring her into the waiting room with me. The real icing on the cake was when my car started acting funny the next day. I brought it back to them because I thought that maybe it had something to do with the oil change. The guys were really nice and helpful, and called the assistant manager Robert out to help. He poked around and told me what he felt the problem was ( being a former auto shop owner himself) and suggested what I say to get a shop to fix it. Because of his suggestion and diagnosis, Robert saved me about $300! They are wonderful guys who went out of their way to help me out, even when they didn't have to. PLEASE VISIT THIS LOCATION! True story you must read before going here --- I took my Explorer here after years of going to the White Glove further south on Clybourne because I got a discount through work. I drove in with my car running fine, no problems, having driven it all day. When I went out and got into it in the parking lot after the oil change, I HAD NO BRAKES. I'm not exaggerating -- my brake pedal just went straight to the floor. I had to practically beg one of them to come out and see what was happening. When someone finally did, we were able to see that every time the brake pedal was pressed, brake fluid was just streaming out onto the ground. They swore it couldn't have anything to do with the work they'd just done, even though I know for a fact the brakes were fine when I drove in. And my dad, who knows cars inside and out and has worked on and fixed all kinds for decades, also knows that it had to have been something they did. Needless to say, I had to then spend over $200 having a brake line replaced down the street at Milito's. I will never go to any Jiffy location again. read more

Frankly speaking, I was impressed. I've been going to an oil change place out on Cumberland for many years because I lived there a while back and I liked the staff. But it's been cumbersome to drive to Cumberland from Roscoe Village. I drive by this Jiffy Lube every day on my commute. That little voice in my head angrily hissed in my ear "Come on you need to change your oil, you know that!" I looked, they were open, and bays were empty, that's how I like it... No line. I get there, and it's spotless, and the staff provided outstanding customer service I mean it, outstanding. They drove my truck in, they had a Keurig coffee machine, they had a nice waiting area replete with nice chairs. They were courteous, deferential, and even hovered a bit. I had to pinch myself... This is Jiffy Lube? The last time I went to one five years ago, it was like a home boy meetup and someone was blasting crappy music... I think it was this very same location too. So for those snooty picky folks like me, wonder no more. French Roast coffee, quick service, a highly professional environment is standard at the Jiffy Lube at Clybourn and Fullerton. And I'm a car hobbyist to boot, can't get pickier than yours truly. read more

I had an oil change and tire rotation last week. After leaving and getting on the highway, I noticed my car was louder than usual when accelerating . Luckily I am not a complete idiot when it comes to cars. When I got home and looked under the hood, out of the 4 connections for the air filter box, not one was connected. They open the air filter box to try and sell you a new filter and then didn't close it properly. I complained on their website and they responded asking for all kinds of information when they could have looked it up based on what I gave them (name, email, service date). Annoying. read more

I am super super picky when it comes to finding people to work on cars. When my partner's car came due for an oil change, I tried this awkwardly-located Jiffy Lube down the street. I had been there once before and really liked the service. This time it was up a level. When I pulled up, an attendant came and opened the door for me. Asked me what I needed and opened the door to the waiting area. I sat down in the warm room (it's like a sunroom) and waited about 15 minutes for the oil change. They are full service: everything's checked and they can even rotate tires. They're not cheap, though. $50 for a full service (which I know includes some extras) but this service was just over $100 with the air filter and cabin filter changes. That's pretty pricey, but what I'd expect to pay for that type of service. Plus oil is the lifeblood of your engine so keeping it clean is tantamount to keeping your engine and car for a long time. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Jiffy Lube. I have gone to other locations before, but this one was the best and I will return there. They were beyond fast, courteous, did not try to up sell me, and reasonably priced. The vaccumed, did the windows, topped the fluids, as they advertise--however, this has never happened at the other locations. They even held the doors for us getting into the car. I needed a brake light fixed and they brought it to my attention, I knew about it already and asked how much, it was only $10 part and labor, whereas the last place I inquired about was $25. Plus they had in-store coupons so everything worked out in my favor. It was clean and again, beyond fast, I was in and out in probably about 10 minutes. read more

The young man who greeted me was a reflection of the entire garage and staff. He greeted me immediately and you could tell he takes pride in delivering superior service, as was the case with the entire staff. The difference between good and great is just a little bit of extra effort, of which this Jiffy Lube gave a ton of! If I could give negative stars I would! I will never go back to Jiffy Lube again. I went in around 4:25pm today for a basic oil change. I was the next car to go into the bay. Long story short, after 35 minutes of waiting with no one calling me over to go over the details, etc I went to the desk to inquire what was taking so long. I had a time sensitive commitment and was never informed that there was a long wait. No one was at the desk but someone came over from the work bay. She asked what I needed. I told her I wanted to see how much longer it was going to be. She sent the "representative" in to update me but only after constantly saying that they will call my name when they want to talk to me. The representative was nice, said it'd be about 10 more minutes. It wasn't. By the time my car was done and ready to go, there had been a chAnge of representative. It was now the pushy girl who wouldn't stop telling me to wait for my name to be called. My keys were turned in, my cAr was pulled outside ready to go, and my door was left open. I was now standing at the desk ready to pay and with my coupon. She didn't call me to pay. She waiting for another car to be done, then called him before me. My car door is wide open outside this whole time (in rush hour in Chicago) for anyone to access. She finally called me. I made no small talk, gave the coupon, paid and was getting my keys when the representative raised her voice to me (so the now totally packed waiting area with about 9-10 people waiting) and told me her name and then said "so when you go complain about me you know my name!" I was floored to say the least. I had not said anything to this nasty person and she wanted to embarrass me in front of everyone. I responded with "well I hadn't planned on it as I'm now late but now I think I will since you think you can treat customers this way and embarrass people publicly." I then exited to my car and asked the man who opened the door for me to send a manager over immediately. As he went to get the manager this girl ran into the work area to the manager to get to him first. I'm sure to make up some nonsense story to cover her butt. The manager finally came out and I told him what she did. He apologized a number of times (too little too late) and said it was unacceptable. I told him I'd never be back and that I was taking it to corporate. I have already filed a formal complaint to corporate and am waiting for a response. This place takes your money and treats you like trash. I'd rather spend more to go to a dealership and be treated as a customer than to there just to save $8.00. I don't need $8 that badly. Shame on them for their treatment of me today and from what I see on this yelp page, many many other customers lately. (I also do not understand why the jiffy lube reply asks me to email them separately. They should be emailing me if they have further questions or want to make this mess right. It was recommended that I replace all 4 tires, which I declined. The dealer I went to today to fix the cabin filter issue estimates that I have 12,000 - 15,000 miles left on my tires. If you require anything more complicated than a simple oil change, I would advise against going to this location. Let me share a story of frustration that at best illustrates the gross incompetence and at worst sheer laziness of at least one employee. I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. The employee charged with servicing my car told me he could not find the tire key for the lug nuts. I, stupidly, took his word for it, believing that the tire key was not in the trunk, that it had gotten lost at some point. So I got the oil changed, and on returning home I looked in the trunk on a whim and, to my surprise, the tire key and everything else needed to change the tires was right in the trunk where it was supposed to be! A case of incompetence or laziness? I'm not sure. And, oh, gentle reader, this story has only just begun! So a few weeks later I go back with the tire key in hand and ask whether it is what's needed to remove the lug nuts. Of course, it is and the tires are finally rotated. As I'm preparing to drive off I inspect each wheel to ensure that they replaced all the plastic lug nut covers on the wheels. And what do I see? The right, driver-side wheel is missing ALL 5 lug nut covers. I trek back into the garage and tell the employees (including the one from a few weeks back) that they forgot to replace the covers. Surprise, surprise: The employee who couldn't find the tire key a few weeks ago tells me that I came into the shop that day already missing the 5 lug nut covers! This, obviously, means that weeks prior he took them off, couldn't locate or pretended he couldn't locate the tire key and then never bothered to put them back on. It's like he started the job and then just decided he was too lazy to finish or attempt to locate the tire key. At least that's how it comes off to me. I explained that the covers were most likely lost only a few weeks back in that very garage, but, of course, he had no idea what I was talking about. This is not the first time something like this has happened at this location. I've also had all of my tire air caps lost there, too. I know these complaints are trivial, but when you take your car in to be serviced you expect to get it back in better condition than when you brought it in -- not back missing parts. Lesson learned: spend the extra money and take your car to a dealership if the job requires any effort at all. read more

This jiffy lube is pretty good. The waiting room is clean. I like their magazine spread and that coffee is available. The staff is friendly. I like that they take the time to explain things. But mostly, I like that they're efficient. I've never had to wait an inordinately long time. They're usually busy when I'm here, but I've never spent more than half an hour here. Perhaps most importantly, I've just never had an issue. Overall, I would recommend them for a quick and efficient oil change. read more

I never thought I would be saying this, but this was best oil change experience I have ever had! I called my usual place and was told it would take over 2 hours to get my oil changed. On a Tuesday morning! Ain't nobody got time for that. I found a coupon for Jiffy Lube and headed up and was in and out in less than 15 minutes! I actually asked the friendly girl behind the desk if they even changed my oil because it was so fast! Every member of the staff was extremely friendly, opening my car door for me and wishing me a happy holidays. They even offer a free "top off" service. If your windshield wiper fluid or oil run low before your next oil change, they will top them off for free! Unfortunately, I am accustomed to unfriendly service at most auto centers, so it was a welcome change to have such exceptional service while getting my oil changed. I have been to this Jiffy Lube for the past few years as it's convenient for me, other than trying to get in/out which takes more strategy than the war. I have never been happy with how the "clean" my windows for me as they ALWAYS do a worse job than I came in with. I think they wash the windows with an oil/water mixture and newspapers. My most recent visit will prevent me from EVER going back to this place. I have a fleet vehicle so I'm lucky enough not to have to pay for oil changes as Jiffy Lube is one of the preferred shops. On my most recent visit, i left as always and went on my marry way. A few days later, I noticed that my tire was getting low so I went to a gas station to put some air in it. I went out to see how much the air was, it was a $1.00 ($1.00 for air....I remember when it used to be FREE), anyways, i went back to my car to grab the change that I have in my door handle and BAM it was ALL gone. Included in this change was a coin that I brought back from Costa Rica as a souvenir. Now, I immediately starting thinking of where I had valet'd my car and can through the previous couple of days in my head. Nobody had been in my car other than Jiffy Lube in the past week. I have already sent this information to my fleet company who was now taken Jiffy Lube off the preferred list and we have over 2,500 fleet vehicles company wide. I hope the $1.10 that the oil technician got was worth the thousands that Jiffy Lube is going to lose because of this incident. read more

I called because my tire was low again and I worried there was a nail or something. I came right in and the entire staff--about 3-4 people--were all so nice and helpful. Victor (I believe) handled my car, did a thorough inspection and saw there was nail and filled up my tires for free. Though it was a 10 minute easy job, I was struck with just how open, inviting, and friendly each person was to me. The woman at the counter even gave me good advice on how to get out of the parking lot (it's on a weird corner intersection so crossing at 5pm on a Friday is near impossible) Overall, just stellar service and experience--Thanks! read more

Went for an oil change today at 12:30pm (Monday) and they followed their regular procedures and did everything how they are supposed to. It was a little annoying that my car took longer than others who came in after me and I couldn't understand why. They really only did an oil change on a Civic...nothing weird or difficult about it. The other thing that made it a 3-star is that the entire place just felt dirty. I'm not expecting everything to be squeaky clean, but I felt gross just sitting there. read more

I have been to this Jiffy Lube a few times. I have two cars - one new and one vintage. I took my vintage car in for a simple oil change. When I left, it was running very poorly. I immediately took it to my mechanic. He found that there was no oil in the engine - they'd drained it and failed to put any back in. It caused significant damage to my engine but luckily it was able to be repaired. I have provided the damage information to Jiffy Lube as well as the invoices for repair. I've been told that they will not reimburse me for the repairs. If Jiffy Lube resolves this to my satisfaction, I'll amend the review. But at this point, I find their level of service - both mechanical and customer-related to be unacceptable. I am now going through their corporate offices to try to get this resolved. Went there for an oil change last week and came home to discover they managed to get oil ON my car. After I has filled out the survey they send afterward, they called to discuss the oil on my car and rather than apologize and offer to FIX the problem and / or refund my money, they offered me a free car wash. I already have my guard up as a woman walking into an auto shop but my experience today confirmed my feelings about auto mechanics. Back story, before I drove cross country in July to move to Chicago I got an oil change at a jiffy lube in Colorado. At that time the mechanic mentioned my tires needed to be replaced soon do to the low tire tread. I have been going to that jiffy lube for years and have always received wonderful service. I brushed it off because I was moving and couldn't afford tires at the time. I made a mental note to take care of it as soon as I could, especially before a winter in Chicago. Today I took my car to this location. I pulled around back and a nice gentleman came to greet my at my car. I explained that I was concerned about tire tread and would like them to expect the tires, and if necessary give me a quote for new tires. The employee nodded in acknowledgment and asked for my car keys. I sat down and waited for about 30 minutes till my car was pulled into the shop. An employee walked around my car several times, put air in the tires (or so I was told) and pulled my car forward out of the shop. They called me up by the make and model of my car (who cares what my name is), I was escorted to my car, the employee handed me my keys without saying a word and started to walk away. When I stopped him to ask about the tires tread and their assessment he stated "I was just told to put air in the tires. I don't know. Have a nice day". Wowwwww I guess this company didn't want my business. Tires are not cheap but I will make sure I take my business somewhere else where they can adequately address my vehicle concerns. I will not be back. How incredibly disappointing considering I have trusted jiffy lube as a company for the last 10 years. read more

I went to this Jiffy Lube to receive an oil change. Upon pulling into the garage, I received poor and confusing direction on where to pull in or go. As I was pulling forward into the garage (like I've always done at any oil change shop), a female employee yanked on my door handle to open it as my vehicle was in motion! I stopped and opened the door. I was confused and alarmed by what she had just done, but told her I needed an oil change. The whole exchange of direction to go inside and wait was confusing and odd. Upon being inside, I told the female employee at the counter I had a coupon to use for my oil change. I showed her and she told me to wait until checkout. About 10 minutes later, she told me my total for the oil change. It was more than expected and I asked if that was with the coupon- she then asked to see it again. I was annoyed by this because had I not asked if the coupon that she had just seen was applied, I wouldn't have gotten the discount. Overall, I felt the whole experience was unusual and not the norm of an oil change. The customer service was poor and uninviting as well. read more

Outstanding service. Professional, polite, efficient staff. I went to this location/shop on a whim. e.g. Hmmm... that little light has been on for a while, I should probably do something about it. After getting hosed at another place nearby- where they outright told me $20, then charged me $50. Granted- all I needed was an oil change and I still can't get over the fact that the basic service is $40 but I have never been happier parting with $40 for an oil change as I was today! (In Detroit, on 8 mile I can get out of the shop for $22 and I don't have to get out of my car) 2 women assisted me. The first, Bernee, was top notch. She gave me all the information I needed to know in a simple, efficient, well-spoken manner. She signaled me to get out of the car by smiling and asking me to follow her. SMILING. She told me where the bathroom, coffee and magazines were. **Bonus** I've never been to an oil change place where they have current gossip magazines. The second woman, I didn't see/notice her name. She too, was incredibly polite and asked if I wanted to buy a new air filter or have the old one reinstalled. I never buy the air filter at the oil change place. What impressed me most about this interaction is she gave me an option and the way in which she phrased it did not suggest a hard sell. I pay, turn around and a guy is holding the door open for me. Then he *OFFERS* to open my car door for me. There was hardly any waiting or wondering- everything was smooth like butter. I will drive out of my way to go to this place next time. read more

Update to previous review: the manager of this store contacted me immediately after reading about my experience at his store, and credited me the full amount we had paid for our car battery that should have been under warranty. He was very gracious and helpful, even though he couldn't find a record of our original battery purchase. This place is a virtual assembly line for service, which makes them efficient, but it lacks that personal customer service touch, and it opens them up to mistakes. The nice thing is even on a busy Saturday, I've never waited more than 40 minutes for them to finish an oil change. They can be quite pricey, too. I average about $60 for services, and I'm usually only there for an oil change and air filter replacement. They do run through everything from recommended services based on the age/make/model of your car; they do a thorough inspection of your car from the engine to air filters to tires, but again: they're all about speed, so that whole process feels very scripted and rushed. The last time I went, the person at the front desk who was taking me through the quote noted there was something wrong with the suspension that turned up in the inspection of the car. I asked her what the issue was, and she said, "They didn't say; you'll have to ask the mechanic". There was no follow up after that; I was shuffled to my car 20 minutes later after the oil change was complete, and sent on my way without any explanation. I took my car to the dealership shortly thereafter, and evidently the coil spring on my front driver's side had completely snapped. Glad they took the time to identify those kinds of concerns, but I wish they'd allot a bit more time to consultations and recommendations for their customers, especially when there are red flags that could yield a pretty significant safety concern and impact the life of a car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I received a response from the business owner that kind of missed the mark on my feedback. I stand by my initial review; however, I did want to clarify what the core concern was during my experience at this business. I followed up with the below message on 4/14: Thank you for reaching out regarding my review. I did want to clarify that my criticism of your business had nothing to do with questioning the expertise nor the qualifications of your technicians. Per my review, your technicians did bring to my attention that something was "wrong" with my car; unfortunately there was no opportunity for follow up nor clarification of the issue. My only suggestion is to stress the importance of your staff effectively communicating with your customers. Things can get very busy, and to some degree employees understandably can go into autopilot when they're focused on their work. I encourage you to remind your team to take a little bit of time to address any "red flags" with customers that may come up during an inspection of a vehicle.
