I can see why now this shop has so many bad reviews. I've been here few times in the past and the service has been average. Nothing to rave or to complain about, but this time, it's a whole different story. So after taking my car into the bay, I was informed that they did not have my filter in stock and then was told that they had no cash to go pick it up and told me I had to go buy one from O'Reilly's with my money and bring it back. Then I was told that they would give me a $2 dollar credit for my effort. I might be overreacting, but I found that insulting. I learned my lesson. I'll never go to a Jiffy Lube again read more

Took only few minutes for my Lyft inspection. Went back to have my other car and same result.

Bait and switch alert. Went in with a coupon. Showed it and told the guys before they started. No problem. Time to pay because it doesn't scan - I can't use but that's after you servied the car AND after you said you would deduct it from my total. Yes I asked again and presented the coupon BEFORE I signed the estimate. Time to pay and now you can't honor my coupon with NO experation date. Then another guy comes in and says I have to use it at the location that issued it. Why not say something BEFORE I'm obligated to pay for a service. I will be calling corporate and the owners. I have been going to the Jiffy Lube for years and always received exceptional, courteous service from this location. In the past, he helped me repair my mini-van which was not oil related and didn't charge me. I am embarrassed that I forgot his name but this manager treats his employees and customer as family and was shocked to see a customer pull a scam right before my eyes. As this customer closely watched his oil changed, the manager showed him his dirty air filter which is what they always do if they recommend a replacement. He had a fit and accused him of switching his air filter with a dirty one which was impossible since the customer saw him pull it out of his car. The manager tried to rationalize with the customer that it was from his car but the customer would not listen. I was appalled by the customer's actions when this is a hardworking, family managed business. The manager took the high road and allowed the customer to complain, get his oil changed with the higher quality, more expensive oil and told him not pay. The customer was in shock by his kindness and left without paying. I was so furious on behalf of the manager and he explained to me that he was not worth the trouble. It is one of the scams he has to deal with almost a daily basis. I applaud him for his attitude and the role model he is to his employees. So, when you need an oil change, PLEASE support this Jiffy Lube location! He is an honest, hardworking man who wants to run a successful business who has to deal with despicable people like today. read more

I've been taking my four vehicles to Jiffy Lube in Newark, CA in the Raley's shopping center for years. Never had an issue, until yesterday. Went in for a regular oil change. There was weird sound under the car. Noticed there were tie wraps daisy chained together. Went back to question what we found. With a "sorry", was told that tie wraps were used because they couldn't find the screw that held up the drip pan. Unbelievable! I think I would have been okay if this was a temporary fix, or if they would have mentioned it. Very disappointing. read more

Big mistake. I took my BMW 740iL in for an oil change. (I know enough to ask for the best synthetic oil they have.) However, I let them talk me into a coolant change. From then one, the "check coolant" light came on 3 times. Twice I took it back; once to Jarvis and once to Redwood City. With the third round of "Check Coolant Level" alerts, I took it to a service shop that knows BMWs. Turns out that Jiffy Lube put in an unacceptable type of coolant; one that gums up the system, including the compartment that holds the coolant level gauge and the thermostat. Now I have to pay over $600 to replace parts that are not working properly. I don't know what recourse I'll have but I hope no one else is as stupid as I was to entrust their luxury vehicle to Jiffy Lube. read more

Took my 2005 Golf in and thought I could save a few bucks off the dealers oil change pricing. BOY WAS I WRONG! Oil change went fine, no reason to doubt anything went wrong until I went in 4,800 miles later to have another change. Went to a different Jiffy Lube in Redwood City. As soon as they tried to pull the drain plug on the oil sump, they immediately reported that the the threads were stripped and it was leaking oil. Took the car back to Newark and spoke to Jason (alleged manager). He told me I was outside their warranty period and that I should have brought the car in sooner. I asked how I was to know there was problem if there were no indications of an oil leak during that time. He offered to install a "universal plug" that would stop the leak, but would not actually repair the problem. Took most of 5 hours to get the part and install it. Had to leave the car there all day. Took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the threads had been stripped inside the oil sump pan (I have the pan as evidence). I mailed photos and the repair invoice ($497) to Jason at the Newark Jiffy Lube with a request for reimbursement. He refused to sign for the certified letter. I presented Jiffy Lube Corporate with the same information. The only response I received was an angry call from Jason reiterating that there was nothing he could do, it wasn't their fault. DO NOT have any work done with these people - they WILL RIP YOU OFF and damage your car. They do not care about anything but your money. Next stop, Better Business Bureau & Channel 7 Consumer Advocate. I dare Jason or Jiffy Lube to refute anything I have presented here. I have the evidence to prove what I claim! I have been going to this place for the past nine years I will never go back again. I had their online coupon the person working behind the counter refused to take it because it was not printed and would not scan it. I actually had to refuse to pay and asked for the manager he said he was not there and gave me his number I went to call then one of the other techs came in and took care it. Maybe I was wrong for not printing it out maybe you should ask your customers if they have a coupon before the service is done. One last suggestion if anyone from Jiffylube reads these make sure your counter person pays attention at the counter this guy had his forehead resting on the counter either sleeping or playing on his phone and not paying attention to what's going on while I was waiting in the customer area. Don't want to totally bash I have had really good service on the past but if this is the future of this location I won't be back. read more

The star is for just being open. Wanted an oil change for my Jeep Wrangler. Had Been there with the same vehicle a few times. They took the keys, told me where to wait and said it would be about 15 minutes. They called me over to ask me if I had an Infinity because that's what was coming up on their computer with my license plate. I said no, never. Then he said some times the dealer makes this mistake. I said you always had the correct car with the correct license, so has the dealer in Dublin when I have taken it there for service. He said he could correct that on the computers then he asked me what kind of oil I wanted, he said I had use synthetic the last time. I don't think so,NSAID it would be $75.00 for oil. No way, what's wrong with the standard oil? He said once you put it In you have to flush out the entire engine because it will cause stuff to happen!!!! I BS, put the hood down, drive it out of there and I will take it home! Found out later by speaking to a mechanic this was BS. What they will do to pull one over on a woman. Shame on you Jiffy Lube, should change the name to Jiffy Screw. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to bringing my car to this location. I have a 2014 Honda CR-V and I was told I had to have the full synthetic oil ($80 as opposed to $37 for regular oil or $54 for the synthetic blend). I don't know much about cars and agreed. Shortly after they started working on my car the district manager showed up. I asked him if full synthetic oil was the only option for the vehicle because I had been told that by his staff. He was very pleasant and explained it was best for my car and only $15 more than the synthetic blend. If a synthetic blend was also appropriate, why was I blatantly lied to? It should have been my decision to chose what was more financially appropriate for me. Part of the service includes cleaning of the exterior windows of my vehicle. My windows look like they have been wiped down with and oil residue. The inside of my vehicle also had oil drops on my leather seat. The staff was respectful, but due to the dishonest way of upselling their oil and leaving my car dirtier than when I brought it in, I will not be returning to this establishment. Use caution and know what your vehicle recommendations are so you don't fall into the same trap as me. read more

I hate this place with a passion. The workers always seem apathetic. They also always pull out your air filter and show it to you to try to get you to replace it but never actually tell you that it needs to be replaced because it probably doesn't. "Yeah this air filter is supposed to be white" yeah...maybe when it's new... it barely had any dust on it but was a light shade of grey you could tell it was brand new. And they always give you that dirty look when you refuse to replace it like you just put water in your gas tank. Their signature service also includes washing your windows but they somehow left the windows dirtier then when I brought it in. Never coming back again. read more

I've been to this place before and its just ok. The employees seemed to have a fake personality while talking to you. I went to get another oil change again and the place said it was open at 8am and at this time its 10 after 8 and nobody has shown up and then to guys finally show up around 8:15 and they are just talking for another 10 minutes. I was a loyal customer for 2 years and finally found that I was cheated. They broke the drain plug during the first time oil change in 2015, and replaced it with a butterfly shape plug. I was not noticed of it at all. Every time after oil change, I was told that everything was good and they recommended me to change some parts, such as filters. Until recently, I went to a shop for maintenance, and was told about this problem. The butterfly plug was silicon sealed. No one dared to touch this plug to do oil change and I had to go back to Jiffy Lube. The manager went through the service record, found the butterfly plug was on the 2nd invoice, but the technician has left the shop. He doubted that I may get it from somewhere else. I'm not crazy to do oil change somewhere else again within 5k miles to add this butterfly plug! The oil was actually sucked up through the top instead of drained from the bottom. No one ever told me about it! That's not good for the engine. I payed for good high-mileage engine oil every time to keep the engine function well. I never imagine that the waste oil was not drained completely during the last 2 years! The manager tried to retap it but it didn't work. Mechanics from other shops advised me to change the entire oil pan which costs about $600 bucks because it will be a huge job. The local Jiffy Lube didn't want to take responsibility. I had to submit my complaint online and expected some serious attention. Disappointingly, a guy from the corporate simply forwarded my email to this local shop. I didn't hear back from them for 5 days until I reached this guy again. Not surprisingly, it was denied. The only answer I got from this guy is his apology that my customer service experience did not meet expectations. To let you see how little control they have to the local shop, he said in the email "All Jiffy Lube service centers are independently owned and operated. As the franchise owner, they have the responsibility to investigate and determine solution to your service experience. The franchisee has the responsibility to ensure outcome has been fully communicated and that the customer fully understands the decision." All in all, they didn't tell the true when they broke the drain plug. They didn't take responsibility when customer found it out. Complaint was not treated properly. Even though they sends out customer survey every time after service, they don't really care about customer feedback. I believe I may not be the only customer who has this problem. Many of you who did service there all the time may not know it until you do oil change somewhere else, like me. Jiffy Lube is a big brand but each shop is owned individually. When problem happens, they refuse to take the responsibility. Then what's the point of being a customer there? FYI, on BBB website, the rating for Jiffy Lube is F, so you know how they treat customers feedback. read more

I was told they were cleaning up for the day and were not taking any new customers, even though they were not officially closing for another 15 minutes. Customer service has recently declined. I went yesterday with my Toyota Prius which was showing that it need maintainence , these guys checked the oil and found that it is not required to do an oil change. This saved my time and money . I got impressed by their honesty I went with my honda civic towards the closing time, these guys allowed me to come(when most of the places don't have appointment towards the close), they were so fast in the oil change, it was unbelievable.
