But until this year, I steered away from this place as I figured it was as sketchy as many other hole in the wall locations in town. However, having finally tried the location a month or so ago, I've quickly become a regular. I can't say I've tried much beyond their steak and cheese subs and fries, but the subs are decent and the people there are actually really friendly. And the sketchiness was really all in my head. I've been there at 10pm and at midnight 'cause you sometimes have a craving for a sub in the middle of the night. And this place scratches that craving. I'm glad I gave them a try as I was looking for another sandwich spot that's close to me. I got a half turkey sandwich and side salad. And I would say that the sandwich was pretty good, but was soggy because of the added green peppers that were cooked. I thought the green peppers would be raw. So that dropped down the stars as the sand which was just so soggy I couldn't really enjoy it. Now the salad was only lettuce and maybe a couple of onions. I'm sorry that is not a "salad". I was expecting lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, cheese...all salad items and that is not what I got. This is a childhood Sub Shop I grew up off. When I was a Military Brat born on Andrew's Air Force Base. I ranked this place high with other Steak & Cheese Shops I frequent. The steak is ribeye, seasoned and delicious. The steak and cheese never disappoints. But Jiffy's is more than the causal Steak and Cheese. Their Strombolis put a lot of Italian restaurants to shame. A huge Calzone'ish wrapped sandwich packed with whatever you ask for. I normally go for seasoned ground beef, fried onions, mushrooms and so much mozzarella. The Cheese pull is crazy. I was highly disappointed to find out upon opening my sub at home that they use steakums wafer slices of beef instead of chopped ribeye steak. I placed an order from Jiffy sub shop on Allentown Road, Maryland on July 23, 2024, and got home and unwrapped my sandwich and someone had already bit into it . It When I contacted the manager at Jiffy Sub show he was beyond rude and mocked my concerns of someone tampering with my food. This is a very serious health and safety violation. I do not know the healthy history/medical situation of the person who used their mouth & saliva and who knows what else was done to my food. I have been going to Jiffys for over 20 years and never had this experience until this new Mangement. I will NEVER go back to this nasty restaurant. Service was good but I'm not sure why the rave reviews. The pizza was worse than a supermarket frozen pizza. The lamb gyro was ok but the tzatziki sauce was nowhere near what it should taste like and was watery. The wings were average at best. My friend ordered a small Greek salad(1 of 2 side salad choices ,garden is the other), an Italian sub and onion rings. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and a mixed tea. The chicken sandwich was good for what it was(perhaps a premise, frozen breaded patty) however there was attention to detail when building this sandwich# toasted butter-y bun, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and pickles, with a little mayo. I love Jiffy's the food is amazing. Some aren't so keen on the fries but I like shoestring fries and potato wedges that's all they have as far at fries. Pizza and subs are amazing! I've frequented this spot for years now...: however today kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I'm unsure if names except for Donnika (sp). Who was publicly harassed by her co worker (male cashier). Hidden gem just outside JBA - so, shhhh don't tell anyone! Went there for lunch at 1130. Place was already busy with people in line, tables were half filled, and phone was steady ringing for take out. I got the chicken cheesesteak with anything and buddy got pastrami sub. Both were beyond excellent and on the freshest roll I've ever had. I asked them to wrap half to take home and they did so without any problem. It's literally just outside the main gate across the street near the now closed McDonald's. We will definitely return and recommend. read more
