Visited Jilli on a Wednesday night (7/17) at around 9:30 and was seated fairly quickly. It's a very small restaurant with limited seating so reservations are recommended. We ordered the makgeolli flight that comes with 4 glasses of different makgeolli; it wasn't my favorite but worth trying out! My favorite dishes were the shrimp toast, tuna dip w/roe, and honey butter chips. Also got the tartare and rigatoni kimchi pasta; they were good but not spectacular. There was a small miscommunication about our order and the staff was so nice to give us complimentary soju. If you're looking for a tradition Korean pocha/drinking spot, this isn't it. Overall definitely recommend checking Jilli out for a cute date night. read more

Unpopular opinion but I'm going to say it anyways. I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Jilli. It's been all over social media as the new "hot place" in ktown so prior to going I tried to manage my expectations as I've learned social media hype isn't necessarily accurate most times but it was hard to not be excited. Being Korean American, I actually love seeing restaurants integrate my culture into popular dishes so not going to lie, I was hopeful. When we got there we put our name down for a party of 5 and were told about an hour and a half. Considering it was a Saturday night, we figured it would be better to just wait rather than relocating to a different restaurant. After receiving our text to return, we arrived back at the restaurant and they called at least 2-3 tables before us. It wasn't until my friend asked the hostess that the hostess realized she accidentally skipped us. So logistics wise, maybe its because it's new but it seemed unorganized and there was a lot of confusion. The interior is dim, extremely loud which definitely fits the description of a korean "sool jib." But if you're on a date or doing a girls night like we were, I'm sure you'd want to be able to talk and hear whoever you're with. We placed our order: angma makgeoli (rice wine), fried chicken, kimchi rigatoni, dwenjang cream shrimp, chicken nurungji. Honestly, the best thing was the rice wine, unique and subtly sweet, but $26. I've had chimmelier's fried chicken and its GOOD. But this was 95% batter and 5% chicken. And I've seen photos of chicken being covered in sauce, we were served the chicken with a side of sauce to dip which was nothing more than just some red pepper paste I could've bought on my own. It snapped my expectations back to reality. The kimchi rigatoni did not taste like kimchi at all. And the dwenjang cream shrimp didn't taste like dwenjang either. The food itself was unmemorable, but I was most upset by the advertising. These are pivotal ingredients (kimchi, dwenjang) to any korean dish and to advertise with just the name when it doesn't actually taste like it, to me was disappointing. And the chicken nurungji was so salty we couldn't finish it. That says a lot. Long story short, the service was friendly and they were kind enough to receive our feedback. But we left still hungry and craving authentic Korean food instead. I hope this could just be my individual experience, but I'm so confused why the reviews for this place are so great. read more

The food was fantastic and the fried chicken and the burrata dish were all really good. Service: The Staff was super friendly and even offered us a shot and drinks. i've seen a couple negative comments about this place but i still wanted to try and i'm glad did! we had shrimp toast(so good!), bulgogi bao(mid), and fried chicken(pretty good especially these days fried chicken is so expensive, it's only $20). the servers are kind, and there's a valet $10 behind the building. only two things were that i still had to wait to get seated though i made a reservation and the music is way too loud though it's a korean bar, the space is small, it's very echoing so hard to talk with friends. but the food was pretty good, i'd like to come back and try other dishes! the reservation is MUST! read more

I tried Jilli for the first time yesterday with my friend who was visiting from SF. We are both major foodies and LOVED everything about Jilli from the food, to the service, to the overall vibes! To eat we got the LA Galbi (which is on the K-BBQ Sunday menu), Tuna Dip (pictured), Rigatoni alla Kimchi Vodka (pictured), and Gimbap. We each ordered a glass of orange wine (I forgot what they were called but I believe they were the only two orange wine options on the menu) and we also ordered a bottle of ANGMA rice wine. Everything was delicious, but my personal favorites were the Tuna Dip, Gimbap, and the ANGMA rice wine! I can't wait to go back!! As far as the size of the restaurant goes, it's small (but personally I loved that...it added to the vibe). My friend and I sat at the bar, but there was a group of girls near us at a table celebrating someone's birthday. I want to give this place a second chance bc they just opened, however it was just a really disheartening experience. My friend and I arrived around 8:30 as a walk-in and the host wearing glasses told us to wait a bit before being seated and we put our name down on the waitlist just in case. We moved off to the corner so we weren't in the way since it's a small space and another couple walked in and had talked to a different host I think possibly the owner? Overheard being asked how many was in their party and once that settled, they waited outside. As we continued to wait another couple came in and also ended up waiting in the corner we were. The two parties who came after us were seated at the bar by the host without glasses then checked the waitlist and asked for our name. He then told us we would be seated at a table once it cleared out. However we got super bummed out when we were then told that they actually needed it for a reservation instead and that we would have to wait until 10pm to be seated. Hoping the experience could be a lot better the next time bc my friend and I were so excited to try this place out TLDR: seated two parties ahead of us bc of not having proper communication between the two hosts, was about to be given a table but was used for a reservation and wouldn't be seated until an hour later. read more

First finding parking on a Friday night was definitely difficult as expected. Ended up going to valet and thought I was paying the $10 price for Jilli, but I was later informed it was going to be $15... when it still said $10 for Jilli on their sign. The place itself was very small and imo kind of loud. You'd have to talk over everyone to just hear what you're saying. My friends and I had a reservation and ordered the bottle of orange wine, KFC, risotto, gimbap, and the kimchi pasta. Would recommend the orange wine super light and refreshing! The KFC was probs the tastiest out of them. The risotto was honestly overpriced rice porridge with sesame oil that you can make yourself at home. The gimbap was alright, just salmon in soy sauce. The kimchi pasta wasn't anything special. Service was alright though they did forget my friend's KFC. Service was more attentive only after that was mentioned. Came here with friends to try out this new sooljib in Ktown. Their chicken sando blew me away and had good selections of alcohol choices. I would say the only downside is that they close earlier than your traditional places but this location has many late hour opening places near by so you can definitely check this place out before heading else where. Came here last night and at first sight, the restaurant was super dark, loud, and intimate. It was super packed and the place was tight but the vibes were great. The service was good, the servers came to check on us multiple times throughout our dinner. The owner (I assume) was super friendly and checked up on us a couple times and chatted with us a little. Jilli in K-town is a must-try! Despite being new, their service is top-notch. They treated us to complimentary crispy rice chips, and the taste was simply delightful! Among the standout dishes, the chicken nurungji stole the show for me. It resembled risotto but with an elevated twist, making it a definite favorite. The Kimchi rigatoni with burrata was another winning combination, with the burrata adding a soft and creamy touch to the dish. The chicken sandwich deserves special mention for its massive size, crispy texture, and flavorful profile - a perfect match with Terra beer. My only wish is that they offered a wing or chicken tender version as well! because it's THAT good. The drink menu is also fantastic - go for Angma's cote makgeoli, the best I've ever had! better than NY version of makgeoli, Maku! Also loved their Italian Orange wine.
