The restaurant is located near some big name stores (Costco, Home Depot, Walmart Supercenter, etc.) which can bring about a slew of guests after some variety shopping. The location offers both indoor and outdoor seating - both options which seem very inviting. On the day of our visit it was quite hot, so we opted to sit inside. There was plenty of parking and the co workers were very helpful and friendly. I truly enjoyed the food at Jim 'N Nick's and it purely satisfied my BBQ craving. We love Jim n Nick's - especially this location. Their bbq is so good - some of the best around. It's perfect for pickup, and their kids meals are the best offered anywhere - really generous portions at a fantastic price. This location is a little different from the others because it's not full service. Just order at the counter, find a table, and they'll bring your food and bus it away. To be honest, I was hesitant to try this place because of the low review score on here. But don't get it twisted -- Jim 'N Nicks deserves at least 4 s. We had a great experience here! The customer service was friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. The food... SO GOOD! We had the brisket, Carolina pork, and pulled pork, with the baked beans and slaw as our trimmings. Ya'll these baked beans are OUT OF THIS WORLD -- the jalapeno adds a super unique flavor without being too spicy. The slaw was incredible too, honestly -- not too sweet, not too mayonnaisey either. First time I've tried a Jim N Nick's with order walk up but the concept worked well! We loved sitting on the patio, enjoying the great breeze! Service was so friendly and helpful. I requested an extra hot hot sauce and they happily produced the perfect one! Just the right amount of heat and tasty as well. I always order brisket and you can get it lean here. You can never go wrong with JMN Mac and cheese (crave-worthy!) but fries and onion rings are excellent t as well. This is a really good choice for a laidback lunch with friends. I have picked up and had it delivered, but we plan on visiting soon. Let me list all of the delightfully things we have had: 1 Their muffins... simply out of this world! Soft, tons of flavor, and addicting. 2 Their sliced Turkey... my personal favorite. Tender moist and scrumptious. 3 Their ribs... these are not the normal skimpy ribs... lots of meat on the bone tender and juicy! 4 The pulled pork... Smokey goodness through and through. 5 The chopped brisket... very flavor filled and delightful. 6 Their baked beans... WOW now these are truly great! This is an interesting concept for Jim 'N Nick's since you order at the front and they bring your food to your table. They don't bring out a basket of their cheese rolls but you can order them separately. The main entree comes with at least one so I guess that's ok. The ambiance is ok, but it gets hot in there due to the small size and the kitchen doors being open. The patio is cute though and it's very fast service since it's a smaller space. The food we got tasted good. I ordered the smoked wings with Buffalo sauce and the white sauce on the side and a side salad with Buffalo ranch. I liked both but wish the wings had a little more kick to them. My husband got the ribs with Mac and cheese and bbq corn. He really enjoyed his and would probably get it again if he wanted ribs. Hmmm. The first thing I noticed here was the smell of fried chicken. Not really - but this new Jim N Nicks is located in a repurposed KFC building. This is the first JNN's in the Atlanta area with a design on "take it to go". It has a drive thru (like a Chick Fil A) and inside you order and pay when you enter. Our orders came up fast delivered to our table. (They also have an enclosed patio area for dining, too). They have a nice bar with two big screen TV's above it and I was pleased to see my favorite whisky, Makers Mark, available. The food is served on wax paper on a metal tray - common in many BBQ eateries. I had a two meat platter with brisket and pulled pork, collard greens and onion rings. There is no additional BBQ sauce on the tables so you'll have to ask for some. Compared to a couple of other BBQ eateries in the area (Cue and Smoke Jack) the food IMHO is just average. The pulled pork was barely warm and the brisket was sliced real thin. The flavor was okay but not outstanding. They were relatively small portions too. If you're looking for the convenience of "grab and go" BBQ this is it. If you're looking for better tasting and larger portions - head to Smoke Jack or Cue. read more

Today I got a $5 chili (sized like a sample, with no added spoon), a salad that had a watered down tasteless barbecue sauce and stale croutons, tasty side biscuits and an okay flavored sweet tea. For all of this it was $12.49 and one of the most disappointing meals I had. I was so excited to go through the drive thru and order. The lady who took my order said that she could put me down for the least costliest salad on the menu ( and the least tastiest I now know) and then ordered a chili and a tea after that. I was surprised at the cost of the meal. I ended up throwing away my salad, and couldnt eat the chili since I had no spoon. But the girl at the drive thru window was very nice. This Jim n Nicks was quite different than the one I was used to in Cumming, GA. Here you order at the front counter and given a number for your food. You then pick a table and your food comes depending on your number. All the employees are very helpful and had great suggestions! I ordered the Pig in the Garden Salad which included smoked chicken, cheese, bacon, cucumbers, tomatoes, almonds, smoked onions and sweet corn in a vinaigrette dressing. It was simply delicious! Called and politely just asked to be reimbursed for what I did not get what I paid for. Spoke to manager and essentially was accused of not ordering what I paid for. The ribs were disappointing as they were dry, and over cooked. I was, however, starving so I did eat them. The corn was tasty and seasoned well. The fruit cup had blueberries, grapes and strawberries and was fresh. The eggs had an interesting flavor and a bit of sweetness to them. My office ordered lunch Togo from the Alpharetta location today 06/25/25 and I ordered the bbq pork sandwich and I got the a sandwich with zero bbq sauce and none on the side. It was horrible without the sauce. After a few bites I couldn't eat anymore. I called the restaurant and they could have cared less. I will not go back to that location. Jim 'N Nicks has been around for a while - several locations and it has always been a very good visit. They have made very good use of an old KFC space on Windward. I am glad - I hope this is a start of an upgrade on Windward, which is very high traffic, but very low quality in offerings - mostly chain fast food, I don't get it - but - here comes a BBQ joint......but.....it's not really a joint that you would hope for - not exactly.... First - I must say - I don't know the focus group, marketing study that thought that an order at the counter and go sit and get your food (A-la Panera) would be a good idea for a BBQ joint - but it's not. It feels rushed, fast, overly efficient.....I have been to a lot of the best BBQ around - Fat Matt's here, Rudy's in San Antonio, Franklin BBQ, even Cue down the road - I don't think that when you think awesome BBQ, you think fast casual, efficient, quick.....it just doesn't match....maybe they are targeting post sports quick take out,,,,doesn't work for me. Don't get me wrong - it's clean and efficient, but again, a BBQ joint you think about is comfortable, a little rustic, smells like a wood fire and not sanitized like a hospital... Food - Decent. I have always loved the salad and sides at Jim nNicks and they continue to be great- flavorful, plentiful and delicious. Well made - collards are to die for, beans are smoky and nice, salad is well thought out ......they got rid of thousand island dressing, that's a cardinal sin. I wish it would come back. My wife wanted chicken - but it was on the bone - they were not slammed - so they took it off the bone for her - very nice. The BBQ sauce is great. The miss was the baby back ribs. On the positive side - the meat was smoky, and the sauce was nice. Negative? Baby back meat should come off the bone easy - this was a hunk of meat that I almost sliced my finger off wrestling with it. It was crusty on the outside - not bad - but super hard to navigate. I will try again, but this time, I left half the rack there because it was just too difficult to eat. Service - Great, Disney Great, Disney on Prozac great. I think every staff member got taken aside and said - you better be so service oriented or else. I think it's a good place to be and back up from there, But they are trying a bit hard - I don't need to get asked how i am doing every 3 minutes....it's fine and well intended....but again, relax, it's a BBQ place....
