Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cleanliness: 5/5[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Price: 4/5 Came here Monday 3/24/25. I was so excited to eat the food that I forgot to take a picture of it. Smh. The cheesesteak was delicious. Fresh, hot and cooked to perfection. The service is friendly, fast and accurate. The Strawberry Lemonade was fire too! No complaint at all. Will I double back? Yes!

Cold cheese that didn't melt meaning the steak was not hot

Cheese was not melted on the sandwich .. steak was cold overall ..do not go here if you want a good cheesesteak .. they are not a part of the original Jim's steaks

#3 Chicken Cheesesteak Special includes Herr's chips and lemonade (freshly squeezed or bottled). Add strawberry is $1.

For the chicken cheesesteak, they use grilled chicken. Sandwich was meaty and well seasoned. Order the chicken cheesesteak special.

Food is amazing. Chefs and service workers are prompt and super friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great interior with the photos on the wall of prominent customers (go Kamala!).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend the regular cheesesteak as supposed to the chicken, although both are great.

This place is AMAZING! It is sooo good we went back the next day and waited in line for a second time. It's so good ppl are willing to wait in for it. We got the chicken steak with mayo, cooper cheddar, sautéed onions, BBQand mustard. It did NOT disappoint at all! We had gone to another place (which shall remain nameless) that wasn't very good. Jim's had apparently been closed for the past couple of years and just recently re-opened, and you could hear the excitement that they were reopened listening to the people in line. Most of the ppl there both days said this is the best Philly Cheesesteak in town. We were akso told Jim's was the FIRST to put cheese whiz on a Philly Cheesesteak

First time back from the reopening. Jim's was delicious like I remember. Service was quick, barely had to wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is clean and nice to be able to wait while food is being cooked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I just wish there were fries on the menu

    Cheesesteak with mushrooms and onions

Tons of meat made the way you like it. No fries or extras (except the banana pudding, which goes quickly). Basically a to- go location.

Newly reopened after few years of closured, Jim West Steak will never disappoint you. My husband is a native Philadelphia and he always talked about this place that he used to go. Since we will be town for few days, we didn't waste our times and we drove straight from the airport to Jim West Steak and wow we loved it and my husband had a blast from the past! This place is very clean, beautiful interior in black and white and the staffs were very friendly. I definitely recommend this place for quick delicious Philly cheese steak , although the line might be long to get your order due to the narrow room, but it's worth it. Thank you Jim West Steak!

Awesome experience. Cheesesteak and Kosher sub killed it. Very delicious and hospitable experience.

The service is fast, friendly, and consistently on point. I also appreciate that they'll toast the sesame roll upon request--it adds the perfect texture and takes the sandwich to the next level. We also got a few of their packaged drinks. The guy taking our order was very nice and there was plenty of seating and it seemed like there was additional seating upstairs, but we didn't have to head up there. The bathroom was nice and clean. As for the food, the Philly cheesesteak was massive, but tasted just okay. It seemed quite heavy on the bread. I think my husband maybe ordered wrong as he should've gotten the cheese whiz or maybe gotten the one with peppers. We've definitely had better cheesesteaks. The waffle fries were fries: tasty and delicious. My MIL's caprese salad was interesting. It was atop a bed of greens which was unexpected. It was also $15 which seemed a little extravagant for what it was. Overall, it was a decent meal and tasty. I'd hit it up for lunch of you're in a pinch and you'd definitely have leftovers for later as well.

John's has occupied the same South Philadelphia corner since 1930 and is still operated by the third generation of the Bucci family. Despite its reputation, we only waited in line for a few minutes. I ordered the namesake roast pork sandwich, while my girlfriend chose the cheesesteak. After ordering, you wait for your name to be called and then pick up your sandwiches, drinks, and chips. Seating is available in a partially enclosed indoor-outdoor tent, which thankfully had heat during our winter visit. Our sandwiches arrived piping hot--you could see steam rising from them as we unwrapped them. The roast pork was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and tender. My girlfriend normally does not care for pork, but even she loved it. She was equally impressed with her cheesesteak. We both ordered footlong sandwiches but could only finish about half. The portions are extremely generous, so arrive hungry or prepare to take leftovers with you. This was hands down one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in quite some time. Our lunch also included a brief culinary crisis. An out-of-town visitor approached the counter and demanded a "Philadelphia-style hot dog." The employees politely explained that they did not serve hot dogs but offered to prepare something resembling a roast-pork-sandwich-style hot dog. The man became offended, declared that he would never return, and stormed away. As we were leaving, we saw the same man getting out of his car wearing a fake mustache. Apparently, his hunger had defeated his pride, and the disguise allowed him to return for the roast pork sandwich without technically breaking his vow. The mustache fooled no one, but we respected the effort. John's Roast Pork serves enormous, piping-hot sandwiches packed with flavor. The quick service, heated seating, and delicious food made it an excellent winter stop. We will absolutely return.

Best part, I got to meet John who was super happy to hear how much I loved the Roast Pork Sandwich. He also seems like such a cool guy! I was in…read moreChester for a football game, but made some time to stop by both of the city's famous Cheesesteak stands. The Original Pat's King of Steaks is located in South Philly, specifically in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. It sits at the intersection of East Passyunk, South 9th, and Wharton. The building has many different signs and lights that will let you know that you are in the correct place. Since this is in the city, parking can be somewhat tricky. There are times I have had to circle around, or get whomever I was with to drop me off and have them come back. However, sometimes I have secured street parking not too far away. This will just depend on the time of day, and really the luck of the draw, if you are able to easily locate parking. This is an outdoor stand, meaning there is no inside to enter. You will order at the counter, and food is packaged to-go. However, there are some tables surrounding the building that you can dine at. They are all under the roof overhang, so you will be somewhat protected from the elements. On this day, it was not terribly busy. I really did not have to wait in any kind of line before being able to place my order. This was around 4:00 on a Saturday in September. First, I took some time to look over the menu posted near the sidewalk. There is also a helpful guide on "how to order a steak," for those that are unfamiliar. When it was my first time here, I actually found the humorous display very helpful. I placed my order for two classic Cheesesteak Wit, made with Cheez Whiz. When ordering, you specify if you want Wit (with onion) or Wit-Out (no onion). Given that I was wanting to try the most authentic sandwich I could, I opted for the onions and the traditional Cheez Whiz. My sandwiches only took a minute or so to be ready. As stated, it was not busy, and they are able to whip up these sandwiches rather quickly. I ended up taking my sandwiches to-go, and having them for meals the next few days. They reheat well, and have good flavor. I like having the onions on it for an added texture. Pricing is not terrible. Pat's is more expensive than Geno's by $2 for the same sandwich. My total was $36 after tax for the two sandwiches, making them $18 each. You definitely are paying for the experience and the novelty that is coming to this famous corner of Philadelphia. But, this price is not out of the ballpark of other places in the area. The sandwich is a decent size, and you can definitely get two meals out of it if you are eating it by yourself. So, all that considering, it is a fair value for what you pay. It seemed like most menu items were $20 or under. FYI, they take both cash and card. The staff are quick and efficient. However, it will not be the most friendly or pleasant experience, especially if you do not know how to order. I am not saying that the experience was poor by any means, but be aware that this is not Disney World and they will not be overly kind to you at the order window. Being from Pittsburgh, I had never had a true Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich until a few years ago when I visited for the first time. Since that trip, I typically make it a point to stop and get a few sandwiches to take back home with me. I enjoy coming to Pat's for the atmosphere, and the true taste of Philadelphia. I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to say you have had it. Plus, the sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. I will definitely be back here on future trips to South Philly.
