Tried Jim Boy's Tacos for the first time and overall it was pretty good. It reminded me a lot of Taco Bell, but with fresher ingredients and a more homemade feel. The food tasted fresh, and you could tell everything was made with quality ingredients, which I definitely appreciated. The tacos and other items were decent, but I do think the food could use a little more seasoning and flavor to really make it stand out. It wasn't bad at all -- just a bit mild for my taste. We came in on a rainy night. They weren't closed, but we didn't see anyone. Soon after, we were greeted by a man who welcomed us. We ordered two chicken tacos for everyone. I like to order them extra crispy. I like that crunch. They obliged. When the tacos came out they were hot and smelled good. Jim boys tacos are one of my favorite places to stop in Northern California. This particular restaurant in the past was very good today. I'm very disappointed. I ordered that special which was a ground beeff El gordio the daily special. The rice was cold. The beans were cold and I felt like my plate headset on the side table, probably for a good 10 or 15 minutes before I fly out to To me I look forward to coming to your boys every time I come north this supposed to be the last time it comes to this location unless they fix something. Jimboy's has been a family favorite for over 30 years. This location has never disappointed. The food is fresh and the staff is always friendly. I love their ground beef tacos and the cheese on the tortilla is amazing. They are definitely greasy so don't expect a healthy meal, but you will not leave hungry. They have a decent salsa selection and the store has always been clean when I have been there. They have a tv in the corner and they typically have sports on. read more

I'm the only customer and they gave me 7 tacos old meat everything shells was old like they had been sitting up all day pico de gallo sauce no juice in it just dried out no Parmesan cheese on the shells at all. Perhaps I found this establishment on an "off" day. I walked in about 10:30 AM hoping to get my day started off with some awesome Jimboys. I had never been to this location before. When I walked in, it was apparent that this place was very clean. I was the only customer inside of the store. I made eye contact with a lady who was looking directly at me. She was in the back area, I am assuming, where the cooking takes place. She didn't smile, but I waited, hoping she would come to the front of the store, to the cash register, to take my order. She stayed in the back, not greeting me or acknowledging my presence. So I waited. I started looking at the menu, hopeful, that I would have something delicious to eat! I looked through the back, where I first saw the lady. She made eye contact with me again, and there was absolutely no smile on her face. She looked like she didn't want to be there. It appeared that she didn't want me there either. Yikes! Again, she didn't say that someone will be right with me or that anyone would be out to help me; not a smile, not a word, not a head nod, etc. So I waited just a moment longer and then she walked further to the back of the store. With no acknowledgment from her and not knowing if I'd ever be served, I decided I would take my business a few doors down to Subway. As I was walking out of the store, I heard some yelling from inside the store, but it was not audible to me, and because my experience was already super uncomfortable and weird, I just kept it moving down to Subway. Perhaps she's forced to be there or was just having a bad day, but it was an extremely uncomfortable interaction. A young kid is a manager, would not get me in contact with the owner or his boss. took me telling him I wasn't going away until he got in contact with his boss. they refused to honor ad and unless you can read very small print you are up a creek without a paddle. I ordered 14 tacos at what I thought was .70 ea. instead was charged 1 taco at .70 the rest regular price, so almost 50.00. Spent an hour trying to get them to contact manager FINALLY they called someone that still wasn't the manager. They were open today! I was so grateful to not wait in a crazy long line and to be met with pleasant and helpful customer service. My order hasn't changed in many many years. This Sacramento staple was a cornerstone of my childhood, and 2 beef tacos and a bean burrito are my go to. The tacos were hot and crispy. Just the way I LOVE them. I should've read the reviews before I went there... the kids each got the taquitos. Two of each flavor. They were horrible. Carl's Jr. has way better taquitos. This was my first visit to a Jimboys and was a pleasant experience overall. I took a minute to review the menu which was on two huge screens so that made seeing the items easier! The huge TACO sign was cool touch to go along with the interior design too! The cashier was nice and outgoing and even made a few jokes while I was ordering. While waiting for my order to be called I sat down and most of the tables were clean but there were a few that had small amounts of food on the tabletops. When you make the choice to dine somewhere like Jimboy's Tacos, you owe it to the business to judge it for what it is. This isn't gourmet Mexican food by a long shot, but it is quality, cheap, fast food that's an iconic part of the Sacramento landscape for a reason. The employees were indifferent, but I wouldn't expect cheerful workers at a place like this (it's not Chick-Fil-A or In-N-Out). We settled on two beef tacos and a cheese enchilada plate. The food arrived fast and was hot and fresh. The tacos were super greasy but so good, with crunchy shells that were dusted with cheese and just the right amount of crispy shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and a pretty large portion of well-seasoned ground beef. I loved my taco and would order this again. The cheese enchilada plate was a hit with my hubby, who couldn't stop raving about it. "This is the exact type of cheese enchilada I love, it's loaded with fake-tasting Velveeta cheese and a crappy red sauce." (His words exactly). I took a bite and it was so tasty! The rice was addictively light and very fluffy. The food was seasoned appropriately and was way better than its closest competitor, which I would say is Taco Bell. There's a very small salsa bar with limited options but it's still a nice freebie with your meal. I found the food to be so flavorful that I didn't even need to put a bit of sauce on top. This is the case of a 100% authentic JIMBOY'S taco. I think you've lost the authentic "Mexican" part when you figure out that this place serves hamburgers as well. Also, read the words under the cash register. Nothing about Mexico. Nothing. Grease bomb seasoned ground beef in a hard shell with lettuce and PARMESAN adorning the outsides of the shell. 100% Jimboy's authenticity right there. If Snoop Dogg ever had Jimboy's, he'd say: "Can we get a mother*expletive deleted*in' moment of silence, for the small TACO break?" because they're that good. I've had these growing up in Sacramento and they taste just as delicious as they did in Sac out here in good ol' Woodpile, CA. Ground beef tacos. 'Murica. Everything else is a side show. *** Vegetarian Review *** Most people stop by In-and-Out on the way back from picking someone up at the airport or get drawn into Red Robin by their bottomless fries. I'm not suggesting to stop doing either, but I am suggesting you include Jimboy's Tacos into your food rotation when you're in Woodland. I've been eating at Jimboy's for nearly 20 years in the Sacramento and Elk Grove locations, however it's been about 3 years since I've stepped foot into one again. Today, I was glad I did. There was even a clever pun to greet you at the door "Give Meat a Break - Go Fish & Veggies!" The poster had something called a Veggie Masala Taco and other vegetarian options. Next time. If you've been to the other Jimboy's locations, you'll be surprised when you open the entrance door. It's very Jack's Urban Eats-decorish, clean and contemporary unlike the 1970s converted Taco Bell styles of the others. Biggest knock: No free chips like the majority of Mexican restaurants. Two (2) Cheese Enchilada Plate: After looking at the menu and almost going with my usual of nearly 20 years, their locally-famous tacos, the server mentioned their specials of the day. The cheese enchiladas come with refried beans, Spanish rice, an iceberg lettuce salad, and a single, piping-hot flour tortilla. Even the presentation is different than I remember -- no longer on a simple plate and the sides served in a separate container. It's served on a square plastic plate with dividers to separate the items. - Cheese enchiladas (Grade A). Actually one of the better enchiladas I've had, especially at the price. It's brought to your table piping hot and the enchilada sauce does not need any additional salsas from the salsa bar. I tried the mild and the original salsas, but ultimately determined the enchilada sauce had more-than-enough depth of flavor to stand on its own. - Spanish rice (Grade B). We've all eaten Spanish rice before and to get a better grade than a "B" or a lower grade than a "C" you have to be doing something either really spectacular or something very wrong. The star of the show is still the enchiladas and the rice is a classic and necessary compliment. - Refried beans (Grade B). See above "Spanish Rice" thoughts. Same applies here. - Iceberg lettuce salad (Grade C). Nothing special here. It's a salad with a creamy ranch dressing, but that doesn't mean it wasn't tasty. In fact, I found myself spreading the refried beans into the flour tortilla and adding the salad for a DIY-style burrito. Personally, I reserve the "A" grades for salads that have fresh fruits and organic hard cheeses. Recommendation for newbies to the Jimboy's experience. Although I didn't get it here, I can vouch for their tacos. They use a hard corn shell that is coated with a generous amount of sprinkled parmesan cheese. Overall restaurant observations: (1) Plenty of parking in the lot. (2) Ambience music is perfectly subtle, unlike the Coachella Festivals they force upon you at all Chipotles. (3) Friendly servers. She made sure we knew of the daily specials. (4) Salsa bar has all levels of spice, plus sliced jalapenos. (5) $2 Taco Twosday (6) Large group/party? It's a smaller restaurant. I didn't catch the maximum occupancy sign, but I would guess there are 30 physical seats. (7) Kids Eat Free every Monday with a purchase of an adult meal. I ordered the three cheese quesadilla and an order of a chips and guac, to go. I the prices were pretty cheap so that was nice. The online ordering was also very easy and then super fast, it was ready within ten minutes. The guac was obviously super fresh so that was nice.
