A guest accidentally shattered a glass pane on the entry door. Using Yelp, I reached out to about 8 companies. The first three asked a bunch of annoying questions and quoted something close to a Napa weekend to repair and install. I tell them I'll need to think about. When Guillermo called, I was prepared for the same thing but happily it wasn't the same bs. We talked about scheduling and price and his quote was substantially more reasonable. Can't review the workmanship as I never got to use them. My review is for the customer service. I called to make an appointment. I had a window that won't open (in such a way that I assume it will need to be replaced), and a large mirror in my master bath. He asked me to send him a text with some details and pictures. I did, and then I never heard back. I sent him another text a couple days later saying "Good morning. I haven't heard back from you so I'm assuming you're not interested in my job, but wanted to check in before I contact someone else." And again, never heard back. It would have been a 15 second job to write back something like 'sorry, I can't help you with that', but I guess he couldn't be bothered. I had several cracked panes of glass in my home and simply wanted the glass replaced. I had seen multiple positive reviews of this father & son business so I reached out to them. They seemed a bit overwhelmed with a high volume of customers, and it took awhile for them to get back to me and schedule an appointment. (In fairness, my problem wasn't urgent and they were trying to prioritize customers with safety issues.) However, I was persistent and it was worth the wait! I should've reviewed the first time because this father and son team are amazing last night I had an emergency my daughter's kitten was flying through the house like a ping-pong ball and broke my bedroom window. This guy is awesome. The wind had slammed our apartment window shut so hard it shattered. And even though it was a Sunday at 9pm, he came out and replaced it no problems. When I called, it went to voicemail, but after leaving a message, he called me back within 5 minutes, and was at our place within the next 30. An hour later, and he was done! The window was replaced perfectly! He saved us from having to spend a very cold and windy night with an open shattered window. From what I can tell, Jimenez is the only 24-hour emergency home window repair guy in Oakland. He was very nice and professional! I highly recommend! The only draw back was that he charged us extra for coming out that night as opposed to waiting til the next morning. But if I was him, I'd charge extra too. I showed up a little early to work this morning and was greeted to a broken window. Someone tried to break into our building, most likely to take our computers. Luckily we have a metal security gate behind the curtain that is behind our glass. I had the unfortunate experience of someone throwing an object through a pane in the front window of my house which led to the FORTUNATE experience I had dealing with Jimenez Glass. Guillermo is a class act. I called him at 9am today and he was here at 10am as promised. After introducing himself and giving me his card, he quickly gave me an estimate and said he had to finish another job and could come back at 3 but would call 30 minutes before in case I wanted to leave the house. His other job finished early so he called at 1pm and asked if I'd be around at 1:30 and he promptly arrived 30 minutes later. As far as the work, it was done in a reasonable amount of time and care was taken to protect the interior of my home. They cleaned as they worked and my front porch was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. The new glass looks great (almost too good compared to the other panes that are 70+ years old). Having a broken window is not fun, but dealing with Guillermo can make the repair process an easy one. read more
