Stopped in here on the weekend, drove a bit of a distance to grab this food, only to be treated rudely and turned away. Have heard nothing but praises about the place, so was left extremely disappointed. Arrived here sometime after 4 this past Saturday, the sign said open, the door was unlocked and I walked in with my lady to get a bite, only to be shouted at by an aggressive woman clerk 'we're closed' we looked at the woman and said what your door is open and sign is on, she yelled at us we are short staffed we are closed. (There were 4 other people inside. 2 cashing out, and two getting their burritos made) as well as what appeared to be 2 people behind the counter, the woman who was yelling at us and another employee at the cash. We asked her again, advising her we had travelled a fair distance to come here (not that she was saying they were out of food) can you not make two burritos for us please, and she snapped at us once again. NO! We are short staffed and we are closed! So we left, disappointed and turned off by this place due to this rude employee Ended up at halibut house instead who had what appeared to be two employees worked, who gladly served us without screaming stressfully at us was happy to have our business. Damn that's good shit. On a chilly day, a bite into a steaming hot burrito from Jimmy Guaco's will set you right. Or any day, really. The burritos here are the shit - the ingredients are fresh and plentiful (including the guac, at no extra charge!) and the sauce hits the spot. The steak is particularly good, with better quality meat than I would have expected for burrito filling. Be warned, the habanero sauce is legit and can mess you up if you're not careful. The one thing is that I have never understood why burritos tend to be almost twice as expensive as comparably sized shawarmas - and Jimmy Guaco's is no exception; but alas, I suppose that is the way of the world. Got the sweet potato lattice fries nachos (you have a choice between sweet potato lattice fries or tortilla chip). I'm not a picky eater so I had the works. My friend warned me not to get any hot peppers at all but I like to believe I can eat spicy food so I asked for a small spoonful of peppers..... My friend was right, I shouldn't have gotten the hot peppers at all. Luckily, I got a free fountain drink which is a perk of being a student (students get a free fountain drink with any purchase). I really enjoyed the nachos and I would definitely go back there to try their other food ... I probably won't add hot peppers though! read more

The restaurant is following pandemic procedures, with employees equipped with masks and plastic face shields. While the food is not bland, it is nothing to write home about either. The chicken burrito I had was warm, but definitely could have used more time on the grill. Unlike some other chains, this one will charge you more for some customization on your burrito, such as adding in a bit more of a particular ingredient. Not a big fan of Burrito but saw all the great reviews so I decided to try. My husband and i were starring at the menu got no clue what to order. The girl who work there, I should have asked her name asked if it was our first time. She is so friendly and has so much energy and she was explaining different items and ingredients with so much passion and we felt like we owe it to her to order whatever she recommended. We ordered the Sweet Potato Nachos and their most popular Burrito called The Big G or something. Man! They were good! The ingredients were fresh and they were so generous with it. I like their Habanero dressing and their hot pepper is awesome!! If I own a restaurant I would totally hand my business card to that girl and ask if she would work for me. read more

I really like this place so I hope the managers at Jimmy Guaco's (Oshawa) take this as constructive criticism. I wanted to email this to management but could not find contact information online: I ate at this located the week of June 5th. The rice was so crunchy it was inedible. This is unacceptable in a burrito place, especially when the bowl I paid for was around $17.00. Also, the sweet potatos were too salty. Jimmy Guaco's had a nearly a perfect rating on Yelp so I just had to come here and try it out. Good news: It stacks well with the other popular chain burrito places such as chipotle, mucho burrito, and burrito boyz. Had the burrito in the bowl and there was just so much food there. It was $11 but it was so worth it! We ended up sharing the entire thing. The amount of toppings is insane. All the toppings were fresh and they even gave me a hefty amount of meat. I liked how I had the options to mix and match which other places do not offer. I had the options of selecting two proteins so I got the pulled pork (carnitas) and shredded chicken. Both flavorful. Had the bowl with: rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, red and green onions, habanero chilies, cheese, Pico de Gallo, corn and bean salsa, sour cream, and special burrito sauce. I don't really eat meat (I'm not a vegetarian, but red meat is an absolute no-no for me). Which is probably why I stay away from burritos. But then I found out about this place. Downtown Oshawa is a little sketchy, but with the opening of the dt UOIT campus, great little place are opening up. I had their shrimp and sweet potato burrito on a whole wheat tortilla. The staff were quick and both helpful at the same time, and they knew which sauces tasted good with the type of burrito, whether it was spicy or not. They were all around awesome. And for kids who I assume are making minimum wage - they did really really well. My burrito tasted f'ing awesome. Like really really good. It was authentic and different and I can honestly say I LOVED IT. For a niche food place in Oshawa this place is pretty spectacular. I'd like to try the other food options they offer. Food Selection is great but the service sucks !! Placed an on line order, for 6 people, on May 21st and was supposed to have it picked up the very next day, from Oshawa location only to find out that the Oshawa location was closed until July. !!! No indication on web site that the Oshawa store was shut down. They took my order and after spending 45 minutes, next day, in front of the locked up store, I ended up calling Whitby store only to find out that the store I was waiting in front of, was not going to open up for another month and a half !! The best burrito I have ever had and will ever have. The crown jewel of Oshawa. I go here all the time as it is one block away from class and it always makes the day 100% better. The best fast-mexican-food that you can get, and better than a lot of mexican sit down restaurants as well. The tortillas are grilled to crispy perfection, the chicken is moist and amazing, the pico and mango salsas are perfect additions, and the guacamole is to die for. I have dreams about that guac. I would marry that guac. The food tastes noticeably fresher than other Mexican fast food places I've been to (like Mucho Burrito). The employees are always friendly. The burritos are a bit pricey. If you go on Jimmy G day it is a good price, but I prefer the chicken burrito so it makes no difference to me. Also the loyalty card program is a bit bogus because they stopped accepting the cards that I had been using for a while. BUT I'LL STILL GO BACK. read more

Honestly the best place ever for quesadila. I have been to so many Mexican resturants but this place.. I had the chorizo quesadila. Freshly chopped veggies. Only one thing was that the the chorizo meat was a bit too oily for me as there was oil all over my box, but otherwise it was so extremely satisfying and a must for all burrito lovers to try it. The very handsome male waiter treated me exceptionally well and had started a genuine conversation making me feel welcomed. Definitely returning back. I love this place! I worked in Oshawa for 2 weeks and probably came here for lunch about 6 times :S I'm a huge fan of burrito bowls and they make a great one here. They are massive and cheap (perhaps I'm used to the prices of burritos downtown toronto). Anyway, my favourite was the sweet potato burrito bowl - they have a ton of selection for toppings here, and they are all very fresh! Guac is included in the price (unlike at Chipotle and other places), they have shredded cheese and even feta. You can have refried beans, or regular beans. Just so many options! I also had a mix of the sweet potato and pulled pork one day - the pulled pork was really good also but there were a few super fatty pieces of meat in there (i know this is a given, but it confirmed for me that I definitely prefer the sweet potato). The sweet potato lattice nachos are great too - but since they are deep fried, I felt pretty sick eating a full one for lunch! I basically wish this place was in Toronto, as I'm not sure I'll ever get out to this area again and I don't think the many burrito places I've tried here are as good. read more

Best burritos in Durham. I've been a regular here for two years and I've always had great food. Huge portions, great selection of meats and toppings, and everything tastes great. I'm a huge fan of the burritos and burrito bowls, and my girlfriend swears by the tacos. Love the selection of salsas, sauces, and toppings. The mango salsa and maple chipotle sauce are both fantastic! I recommend trying the pulled pork and sweet potato. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Food can be pricey but you are paying for quality and a great selection of toppings at no extra cost. read more

I've been wanting to visit here a while, and finally got the chance today. Well, it was certainly worth it! We had SMALL burritos for $7.50-$8.00, and they were a tremendous deal. A deal, however, is only as good as the food you're getting with it. Here, the food is great. Endless options for burritos, nachos, quesadillas. Fill them with steak, chicken, shrimp, fish. Top them with any of a dozen different toppings - beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, corn salsa, pico de gallo, or guacamole (made in house every day!). Then, when you're done putting it all together, they do a special wrap - and then explain how to eat it! I won't say it was completely mess free, but I did only use ONE napkin, which I think counts as a success. The service here deserves its own review. To find a place where every single person acts like they really want to help you is exceptional. At one point during lunch, the counter staff spontaneously broke into song! I don't go to the 'Shwa often, but when I do and I want to to eat, the first place that comes to mind is Jimmy Guaco's. They have a good selection of burrito fillings, and they do nachos, salads, tacos and quesedillas as well. Unlike some some other burrito joints, you get to pick all of your burrito fillings like salsas, cheese, veggies, etc. and their burritos are wrapped really well, which is key! I've tried the grilled chicken burrito before so this time I went a bit more adventurous with a shrimp and chorizo burrito. I decided to make it a meal by getting a side of sweet potato fries as well. (They are listed on the menu board as an option for your nachos but I just asked for them plain.) My burrito was delicious and filling, I was surprised how great the waffle cut sweet potato fries were, I will have to get them again the next time I go, I highly recommend them, just plain or as an alternative to tortilla chips for nachos. Oh yeah, watch out for their hot sauce, I mean, I like a lot of hot sauce on my burrito, but theirs is actually pretty hot! I went here the other day for a quick dinner trip. The staff was very friendly and funny. Good looking too! I got a small pulled pork burrito with assorted toppings. My boyfriend and I visited Jimmy Guaco's based on the existing reviews, and we were not disappointed! This has to be one of the best burrito places I've ever been (no offense to my other burrito boyfriends, Burrito Boyz, Burrito Bandidos & Chipotle). It being our first visit, we both opted for the signature burrito, The Jimmy G -- ground beef, chorizo sausage, and "Jimmy G" sauce made from pickled jalapenos. We were then given our choice of over a dozen fresh toppings, including house-made guacamole, habanero salsa & pico de gallo. The result was what my boyfriend dubbed a "Seven-Layer Experience" - a series of uniquely delicious bites in an expertly designed portable food package. The decor and signage make it look like a chain, but we were surprised to learn that they have only one location (Oshawa) with another opening soon (Peterborough). However, this place has everything it takes to hold its own against places like B-Boyz and Chipotle - although the owners may want to consider adding free wifi, allowing customers direct access to fountain drinks and getting a liquor license to compete with other major chains. I have a feeling if they keep it up, Jimmy Guacos will soon be all over the place -- and I can't wait!!! read more

Always enjoy me some Jimmy G's. I usually stick to the chicken because when I have the chicken and steak the steak is never to my liking. It's generally chewy and hard to chew apart and I end up having to pick it out. I do enjoy the chicken alone however. Love the selections of fresh toppings and Jimmy G's sauce. I've had quite a few of their quesadillas and they've always been good. Ive only eaten in a couple times, I generally take it to go. The staff is always friendly and I find the prices reasonable. Guaco's has been a fairly good burrito place since it opened. Friendly service and average burritos. Whenever I go there I end up getting the Jimmy G because the chicken is far to bland. I dislike that they raised prices and don't let you have as many of the salsas as you want. read more

I was in Oshawa to see a customer and used yelp to find this place and the reviews are accurate. Nice little place and the food was excellent. I had a burrito with chicken, and all the fixings. The final grilling in the panini grill made it that much bette with a crunchy tortilla shel and nicely warmed but not too hot interior. I will seek it out the next time I am in the area. read more

I need to start this off by saying that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jimmy Guaco's. However, last night a few of us hit up Jimmy's about 20 min before closing. We were informed by our server that they closed soon and were totally fine with taking our order to go. It was clear from the jump the young man behind the counter was angry as hell he had to serve us. The look on his face was pure hatred. He was short with us while taking our toppings. He was rude to a level that upset me. So much so that in the future if I walk into Jimmy Guaco's and that kid is behind the counter I will turn around and walk back out. Gross food for a high price... The food was just gross, I started feeling sick and couldn't finish my burrito, so I only ate 2/3rds of my burrito before just giving up. Once I stopped eating it and started eating something else later on, I felt better, so it was the burrito's fault, somehow. I think it just tasted so bad that my body just wouldn't let me eat it all, even though my brain said "don't waste this extremely expensive burrito!" Why do I think it's expensive? Well, it technically isn't, for my family to eat there all together, it wasn't much different from Chipotle, for example. But when you pay this much for bad food and bad service, it just feels ridiculous and wasteful. And this is one of the burrito places that charges EXTRA for extra cheese. Imagine... Every time I go to a place like this, or Mucho Burrito, that charges extra for cheese, I always have to take a point off, it's ridiculous, especially cause cheese is the only topping I put on... And, ya know, it's just an extra handful of cheese. Chipotle doesn't charge extra for extra cheese, which is great. Also, this place doesn't have hot sauce! Imagine, a burrito without hot sauce. It's ridiculous. They have weird, vegetable tasting dipping sauces when you request it, but they should have bottles of pure, spicy sauce available. I wouldn't care if it was their brand or a name brand, but the fact that they didn't have any plain, spicy tasting hot sauce bottles available legitimately ruined my meal, because the spice would have at least covered up the terrible tasting food here. Most of the staff is rude at this location, the only nice worker who seemed to know what they were doing was the girl who warmed/pressed my burrito after it was built. They're unhelpful and unhappy at this place. Also, they have wifi, but it's locked! And I didn't see the password anywhere, and I wasn't about to ask a rude worker for the password... Maybe there's an extra charge for wifi here! So, at the end of the day, I was offended by the workers, paid way too much for a gross tasting burrito, and left extremely sad and unsatisfied. I assume that the only reason they're in business is cause of the students, since UOIT has that building a short walk away from this location. And, of course, the GM Centre is right near it too. The chicken quesadilla fell apart because there wasn't enough cheese to melt it together. The nachos were worse than what you would receive from a ballpark vendor. Extra cost for guacamole. By far my favourite fast food place and pretty much one of the only things Oshawa should be good for!!! I only wish there were more locations!! I believe this place to be a founding leader of the now popular burrito franchises popping everywhere . The fresh condiments and flavourful food made onsite distinguishes itself from the copycat chains and can't be beat!! Fast, friendly customer service. Expect to pay about $10 for a burrito but know that it will be a full size portion and you won't go hungry. Usually the small is suffice. Regular is for the starving and is literally the size of a small child... Ok maybe a football, but still.. Try the halibut and shrimp! Really tasty combo!! Love their guac and pico and mango salsas! Excellent burritos. This place is a step up from the standard "chain" burrito shops. Try the sweet potato (with or without meat) and the chili/maple burrito sauce. Doesn't sound like a burrito filler but it works and it's delicious. And if you like guac, it's free. How can it not be with a name like Jimmy Guaco's? read more
