Wow, the foot-long must be 18 inches. Or at least I only expected 8 foot long and ended up with 18 inches of pure pleasure. The amount of meat on the sub was perfect. Certainly no slouch in the meat department. The fresh veggies, fresh roll, and the secret sauce they put on it to give it the twang in your mouth made for an amazing lunch after a hard day of work. I've heard of Jimmy John's but had never tried them. So, when I walked in, I had that sub-shop trepidation....what is the ordering process? What do they have? What are my choices? The one not thing I did know is that I wanted to try their "Unwich." The Unwich is, essentially, a wrap sandwich wrapped in lettuce. So, it's keto and low-carb option. You can get any of their subs as an Unwich. I had the Bootlegger Club (roast beef, turkey, lettuce, tomato, Mayo). It was absolutely delicious! As I say, I knew nothing going in. The staff were super friendly, helpful, cheery, and made it easy forme to figure things out. The food looked real and fresh. They have quite a bit to choose from. I was interested to try JJ's a few years ago when it opened up in Guilderland. After trying it out, I have been hooked - my favorite sub place. First things first: the only kind of cheese they have is provolone, so if that isn't your thing, JJ's might not be for you. However, I know a few folks who swore they couldn't get past that, but managed to. I am a vegetarian, so I get the #6, which is a veggie sandwich. There is a larger version of this as well. Lettuce, tomato, cukes, guac, mayo on bread. You can make substitutions - for example, my daughter doesn't like tomato, so they are happy to leave that off. The bread is nice, not too crumbly or doughy, and not leathery either. The ingredients have always seemed fresh too, especially compared to some other chains. Their pickles are great too! Service is always great here, friendly and fast. The shop is clean, bathrooms have always been clean too. This has been a really great go-to as a busy parent when I want something fresh on the go. read more

Great food, quick service and a very clean venue. I typically get the unwich (lettuce leaf instead of bread) which is perfect for gluten allergies or if you are on a diet. My only beef with the unwich is that they charge you the same as if you were getting a sandwich with bread. Also the pickles rock! read more

Great place! This is way better than subway and some other sub places near by are not as good as this. The subs were fresh, giant and the service was really great and it was super quick! I strongly suggest the Spicy east coast Italian sub. Great flavors and what I suggest is that you get the extra olive oil dressing, extra onions and extra pickles. The Thai Chicken wrap is also really good if you don't like cold-cuts. The ambiance is really nice with kind of a luxury restaurant fast food fusion inside. Jimmy John's is a good standby for subs. There's little to complain about-- only issue is the messed up my order slightly. They were quick in fixing the issue. Trust me, I know the importance of supporting our local businesses, especially now more then ever. What I don't support is a owner unwilling to compensate in some fashion when a customer is disappointed in their pick up order.! I am a big fan of the unwich. A lettuce wrapped sandwich instead of bread. Brilliant! Twice I ordered it and twice it was wrong. Last night we ordered online and I knew before I opened it something was wrong! I ordered it with many of the "free extras" they offer. Even twice the meat for additional money. Living 20 minutes away, (40 minutes round trip) I wasn't going back but I did decide to call to find out why this happened again. I was told by the OWNER, that sandwich was made exactly right according to her computer slip. I told her I'm looking at my order and the sandwich and it isn't what I ordered. Again she stated it louder , maybe she thought I didn't hear her correctly. She was definitely not sympathetic. She was taking the stand that she correct-fully made the sandwich order. Very turned off at that point. Gee, I don't know maybe apologize and say I don't know how this happened but I will make up to make it up to you next time. That would be a start. Or next time extra pickles for you !!! . Something. Instead I got I'm gonna have to call corporate to find out what's wrong with their computer system. Very dissatisfied with my experience here. 1) The 15 minute parking limit at your 'designated' parking spots is obnoxious. If one is patronizing your business, you do not thank them by trying to rush them out (and that is the implication no matter how you try to defend it and cover yourselves). Shows your lack of gracefulness for people that want to come in and enjoy a meal and pay your wages so you can make a living. If spots are full, people need to be adults and wait or go somewhere else. 2) They do not issue standard 6 or 12 inch subs. 3) They do not ask you what type of condiments you want. Granted one should mention it, however it is good customer service to still ask. 4) They have a lack of varieties of cheese (only provolone) and obnoxiously charge for cheese if you want (after they never put it on the samdwich). How sweet of them to not charge me as a courtesy. 5) Subs are good, but be prepared to be ripped off at the counter paying for them. It is their choice as to how they want to conduct business, but it is my right as a paying customer to voice my grievances. Will not be coming back here and want others to be aware. I understand everyone has different standards, but these are mine and that is all. Now the owners probably do not care, but I hope others will. read more

Jimmy Johns is new to the Capital District and it is a great addition to the area. The subs are always awesome and the store is very clean all the time. The customer service is top notch, staff always welcome me to the store and wish me a good day when I leave. They also took time to explain the menu to me and how things work the first time I went, which was great since I never ate at Jimmy Johns before that point. My better half brought home a sub from here and it was rather underwhelming. From the lack and quality of meat you'd think it would cost less. The sub roll and chips were good, but that's it. We have been really looking forward to trying this place out, too. Since this was my first experience here, I cut JJ's some slack with 2 stars, but I'm not too likely to give it another try. The owners of this location are generally on site throughout the day. The staff is friendly and sure to make sure to get your order right. I've never had a bad sandwich from here and I eat here at least once a week. I love to customize my sandwiches. Try the Country Club on wheat add Roast Beef add Bacon. Love the potato chips from here as well. Don't underestimate the unwich wrap they taste pretty good. According to the one star review about the bread. The bread is really delicious. Of all the chain sub places I believe JJs has the best bread of them all. Many times I go in I see the bread being freshly cooked in the oven and often see the staff freshly slicing meats and cheese. (When's the last time you've seen a Subway meat slicer?) Every time I'm in this location I am greeted on the way in and the restaurant is very clean I always see the staff cleaning when not making subs. Makes me feel good that I am eating in a clean establishment. Bathrooms and tables are always clean whenever I go in. This is the best Jimmy John's ever! We were passing through with 3 busses of youth on a tight schedule and choosing this Jimmy John's made all the difference. They took our order electronic and made up a box for each of our busses so all we had to do was stop and get the boxes. The owners personally supervised the creation and accuracy of the order which made accommodating many different tastes and allergies a very easy task. The Guilderland Jimmy Johns location is quite fantastic. There aren't too many places in this plaza to get a good bite to eat- say on your lunch break during work- so when I heard there was going to be a sandwich shop opening I was ecstatic. I had never heard of "Jimmy John's" and was new to the chain altogether. This location, is not a typical "chain" location, filled with teenagers who want nothing more than to be released from work to go galavanting on the town with their obnoxious mid-90's Honda Accords. These kids take the time to know your order, so if you become a regular like me, they have fun remembering the obnoxious combinations you put on your sandwiches (cue the "Flying Fish"). My only complaint about Jimmy John's is their delivery range. I understand their concept behind their "serious delivery" and a desire to deliver speedy sandwiches (it shows- these guys produce a hoagie in less time than it takes for Bill O'Reilly to feel awkward at Hilary Clinton's backyard barbecue) but I don't mind waiting fifteen or twenty minutes for a quality sandwich! Most delivery joints around here take an hour for their mediocre delivery scaliwags to get there. We're used to it! To anyone checking out these reviews, my best advice would be to ignore the one star review. Sounds like he's fishing for something to complain about. Poor guy. read more

Guys, how could you rate this place above 1 star? I went in to try a sub as part of a "free sub promotion" and ordered the Pepe. I brought it home and laughed when i opened it. People make fun of subway for putting no meat on, this place will actually cause you to chuckle when you see those two pathetic slices of cold cut on there. Plus the bread was rock hard. This is a new location and I have been ordering from them since they have opened. At first the subs were great! However my 1 star review is based on my last ~10 orders or so and the customer service of this store. I started to receive subs where the end (or heel) of the sub role was hard and crumbly - like you would expect from bread that is going stale or has been toasted. Out of the last 10 orders about 6 or 7 of them were like this. I usually order with my 2 roommates and usually one of them also gets this hard end piece while the other sub is normal - soft delicious french bread from end to end (one roommate sometimes just orders the whole loaf of bread and not a sub - has never had hard ends or heels). So I decide to leave a note on their customer review section of the website stating that I think they aren't storing the bread right or something. I receive a phone call from a girl who works there saying they received my feedback. Her response was that at Jimmy Johns they call what I experienced the "Crouton End" of the bread and it happens while the rolls are being baked. According to her it isn't stale, old, or toasted - just baked this way. It's funny because I've never experienced this from other Jimmy Johns, or from this store until somewhat recently, and NEVER at another sub shop.
