Been here twice now for lunch while at CHOP across the street. Service is pretty quick and sandwiches are good. On my first visit, had the The Beach Club. Good sandwich but the "sandwich slide" was pretty bad. Took a few bites and most of the stuff slid right out of the sandwich. On the second visit, I went with the Jimmy Cubano, which was also good, and the contents of the sandwich pretty much stayed within the bread. I like their sweet tea here and chips were good as well. If you find yourself staying at CHOP for awhile, popping over across the street to grab a sandwich is a nice change. read more

This Jimmy John's is great. They are located right next door to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (and University of Penn's Hospital). We come here a lot when we are at CHOP. They have great service and great food. They are also 'freaky fast' like they advertise. I don't recommend their bathrooms because they're usually not that clean, but since it's next door to the hospital and we come by this place for a quick sandwich (often to go) we usually just go to the bathroom in the hospital. read more

Okay listen, I love a good hoagie. As far as chains, JJ's is the best. I have absolutely no qualms with this location, as I frequent often due to where I work. I may "accidentally" "forget" my lunch more than I should because I crave these sandwiches. It's a chain, but you can't beat the speed and precision. You can't really beat the price and convenience. The ingredients are always fresh. I do wish the staff was a little friendlier, but that's something that can be worked on, I suppose. The place is small, but clean. I've never had an issue waiting or finding a seat here. If I didn't work literally steps from this place, I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to visit this particular location, as it's super congested. Jimmy John's used to be a five star joint. However, in the recent years, they've lost a star because they no longer carry any alfafa sprouts. Their Turkey Toms were perfect with the alfafa sprouts. Now, Turkey Toms come with optional cucumbers. Not the perfect taste that I was so used to. Besides that, Jimmy John's is always reliability fast. You can be in and out in literally 2 minutes, with sandwich in hand. Of course, when you go during peak hours, the wait might be about 5 minutes- not too shabby. The staff is also pretty cool. Don't expect to get a seat outside during lunch hours at this location, however. Due to construction on CHOP's Bueger Center, construction workers have taken over every single table/seat available outside during lunch. They're friendly, but don't expect to find an available seat. read more

JJ's is convenient to CHOP - just across the street and a bit to the right of the main entrance to CHOP. Food - Better than Subway. A decent sandwich, but nothing to right home about. One thing I don't like is the way the sub was made (I had a #1: ham and cheese). When made, the bun was opened from the side and not cut all the way thru, stuffed with lettuce and tomato and then the meat/cheese was added. When you bite it on the end, the let/tom are all on one side and meat on the other. You end up taking 2 bites to get all that the sandwich is. I feel, a proper sub is built in layers on one half of the bread. I have to say, the bread is good. Service - straight forward: order at the counter and pick up at the pick up location. If you're at CHOP and in a hurry to get back to your sick child, I'd recommend it. However, if you have more time, within a short walk are really good restaurants. I absolutely LOVE Jimmy John's, but this is the WORST ran location in the franchise. I'll list my MULTIPLE reasons why below: 1. The bag says they stay open 10 minutes after 9pm... so when arriving at 8:50pm to pick-up an already placed order, not a single employee came to open the door or even acknowledge our existence. Thankfully a customer came and opened it to let us in. 2. When the order was PRE-PAID, and we came to pick it up, they said they already gave our order away to another customer. 3. After this, we had to give them the order again... and they made us get in the back of the line to start making everything, rather than fixing the issue and starting to make the new subs now. 4. When we called to ask what's going on - the manager said "We are really busy right now" and placed us on hold for FIFTEEN minutes, before we just hung up. As you can see - I would avoid this store and choose other options available. There is another Jimmy John's in University City! I had no idea... Yesterday, the lunchtime line at Potbelly was so long that we decided to go somewhere else. In comparison to that, this Jimmy John's was surprisingly empty. In fact, Jimmy John's is the kind of franchise which I find surprisingly underrated. Whenever I go to one, it's almost empty and I am the only person who orders something. Perhaps that is because the sandwiches come out very fast, but even so it's a little strange to be in restaurants where the employees outnumber the customers at almost all times. I find their sandwiches to be almost perfect. The ingredients are very fresh, the sauces are very good, and there is a reason as to why they call themselves "Gourmet Sandwiches" even if it's not Michelin-star-level. I especially like that the sandwiches are untoasted (admittedly this is a personal preference). The only thing I personally dislike about Jimmy John's is the bread itself, which has the perfect consistency but tastes a little bland. This Jimmy John's will certainly become my new to-go place when I forgot my cash at home or on weekends. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would...Jimmy John's has some of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had. They use fresh bread and condiments to make the perfect sandwich. My favorite is the Turkey Tom: so simple yet so delicious. This location is in University City; conveniently located across the street from CHOP. I just wish we had a Jimmy John's in the North Jersey area where I live. The closest one to home is in New Brunswick which happens to be the ONLY Jimmy John's in NJ. The worst sandwich buying experience ever. My first time going to Jimmy John's. I asked for a sample of the tuna salad which they gave me. It wasn't very good so I declined it and ordered a turkey sandwich instead to split with my son. I asked for a giant sub which they messed up- started making a regular. And then I wanted whole grain mustard (the jimmy John mustard) on only half which they couldn't do. The guy making a sandwich is literally right and that's the guy that I'm placing the order with, and they can't put mustard for only half the sandwich? So we heard so much about how great Jimmy John's is that we decided to give them a go last night. We used the website to order which was easy to use for the most part. We picked up the sandwiches and chowed down. Gotta say I was kinda disappointed with our sandwiches, we ordered 3 of the regular sized ones. I got the totally tuna, my roomies got the vito and the turkey tom. There was barely anything on them to start, little filling and they were dry and kind of flavorless, all three of us were totally bummed out because we kept hearing they were all the rage but IMHOP they are totally overrated and I can only assume that the people raving about them never had a real hoagie/sandwich before. One person enters your request into the computer while a second person is making the sandwich literally as you state the ingredients you want so by the time you finish your order the sandwich is ready and handed over to you. Jimmy John's is a place that has soo much potential, but consistently under delivers. One example is I added Avocado for $0.75 to a sandwich, when I said they forgot it, the girl behind the counter pointed to this little spot of green and said that was my Avacado, I should have asked for $5.00 worth so I could actually taste it. On the plus side, the Tuba club was great, and the bread is fresh, sooo much better then Subway, but the cuts of deli meat are also sub par and often find something not right with it. read more

I've always ordered from this Jimmy John's before and never had any problems. However, today I ordered a sandwich and never received it. When I called to inquire about it, I spoke with the female manager of the late shift, and she told me they had called the number I gave them (which has worked in the past mind you) and reached someone else. Although this had never happened to me before, I heard that sometimes calls can be rerouted. However, I was more upset about the fact that they doubted me as a customer when I insisted I did not receive the call. No apologies or anything, whatever the confusion was. They offered to send it back over in 10 minutes, so I waited another half hour but still never received it. Maybe I'll try ordering from a different location. read more
