He was very apologetic and offered many solutions. I was not able to meet at the desk upon his arrival so these options were relayed to me. I cleaned up the mess and went about eating my sandwich. Look, it always pains me to write bad reviews of a place, like a mournful teacher breaking out his red pen and marking up a test with restrained but needed harshness. Sometimes it's just necessary, you know? I've eaten at this JJ's before, and while it hasn't disappointed in the quality-of-food-department, the speed of the whole operation ranges from abysmal to "what in god's name is wrong with you all? How long does it take to make a sandwich?" Apparently it takes pretty freaking long. I'm currently writing this while I wait, and it's been over twenty minutes. I'm not even the next in line either. I remember back in the old days, many moons long passed, Jimmy John's hyped itself as being "freaky fast," and indeed, they were. In my first ever visit to a Jimmy John's, the employees weren't even speaking to the customers, other than to yell out their names when their order was ready. We have always found that the service and food at JJ's is spot on and downtown SEA was no exception. We were in town for the Flower & Garden Festival and as we were checking into our hotel, we see a JJ delivery guy dropping off a sandwich at the front desk! This pleased us and I found the shop a mere two blocks away! Major hustle and bustle, close to a dozen employees taking orders, deliveries and building sandwiches! Everyone was ridiculously polite and there was some singing going on back there too. We eat our staples... #11 and #5, both as an unwich! Love that they take care of those of us who doing eat the bread!! We stopped by here twice while in town for a quick bite. Second trip was a bit off, but I'm guessing they were just frazzled after the lunch rush and made things right by me. My wrap was missing the O&V and spices however they were quick to offer a remake which I declined and asked them to just add it, which they did quickly! I was excited to stop here because I used to work at a jimmy johns in high school, however, when we entered the cashier was very rude and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him by ordering our sandwiches. The ice was out in the soda machine which wasn't a big deal, but then when the above employee went to fill his own drink and noticed that the ice was out, he went to the back to fill his cup with ice and never refilled the soda machine. Headed out my hotel door and just started walking. At an intersection I spied Il Fornaio & Jimmy Jon's. I asked the couple standing next to me if they had ever eaten at Jimmy Jon's. Both gave very enthusiastic kudos and I said eff u Il Fornaio. I could eat there at home if I wanted to. So I perused the menu and got the #2 small roast beef sammich. I grabbed a bag of Jimmy's salt & vinegar chips, a bottle of Dasani...and BAM. My sammich! This was my first, yummy meal of the day so I savored everything. My sandwich was perfect, just enough mayo. I didn't have to negotiate the bread to prevent any tomato from sliding out. The bread was a firmness, like a medium support pillow. I amused myself by reading all the Jimmy 'Dos' and 'Don'ts' on the wall. Apparently, I had committed a 'Don't' and took 2 more napkins than I needed, but I'm sure I'll need them to blow my nose or something. I was very glad I took that couple's advice and ate here. I've always been a Subway Cold Cut Combo kinda gal...but in a desperate need for food and knowing of her fave spot I headed to JJ to curb my appetite. I opted for the Vito. Sounded good and the man at the counter had just me to focus on so he ran down what he recommended and how JJ worked. We together decided my Vito would be best with a little mayo added along with some alfalfa sprouts and cucumber. I love Jimmy John's!!! I love their speediness and willingness to deliver even if it's upstairs in the same building. (We're lazy people, I know.) Anyway, my go-to sammich is the Vito, but I found out recently that they don't give sprouts anymore??? WHAT??? WHY NOT? Ugh. I love sprouts, I'm sure people hate them, but why take them off the menu? Why only two stars you ask? Well, I almost always get a Turkey Tom #4 even back when it came with sprouts. Then they substituted the sprouts with cucumbers. Well now if you want a Turkey Tom and liked the cucumbers you will now have to ASK to them to be included at no additional charge?!? What!?!? I get back to the office and take a bite and notice that my sandwich is NOT the same. :( I call to inquire and was told sorry yes if you want cucumbers you need to ask and there is no charge. Not happy with that response. If your sandwich normally came with so thing on it and you don't tell you customer it is now an option your customers will NOT be happy! Jimmy John's has got a big fat knuckle sandwich for Subway and Quiznos. Their sandwiches are pretty ass-kicking (for a chain) and they're a lot faster. Even if there's a line out the door at the noon rush you can expect their efficient operation to get you out the door in 5-10 minutes. I recommend the Italian Night Club. Get it with peppers and thank me later. It's basically a tangy and savory pile of cured meats, provolone, veggies and vinaigrette on a roll. Yum! My only complaint is that it seems like all of JJ's sandwiches have mayo on them. I'd like to see less fat and some more interesting sauces. read more

I walked in and I saw a kid standing behind the cash register who looked like he might have just skateboarded into work five minutes before I arrived. As I approached the counter he made little to no eye contact with me and mumbled a few words which I think was him asking me my order. I think. Whatever the case was, I gave him my order, a #6 Veggie with no cukes, it was ready 2 minutes later, and off I went. I can't say for certain we ever exchanged ANY words come to think of it but I realized later as I was carrying my Jimmy John's bag back to work that he fit the Jimmy John's employee persona perfectly. How's this for fast food: today they handed me my sandwich before I got my change. Being from the Midwest, I've enjoyed JJ's tasty subs since college. So I was pleasantly surprised when they started cropping up around Seattle and Bellevue. And then lo and behold, last week one opened across the street from my work! Oh joyous day! Even if there's not one within walking distance, they have the cheapest delivery rate out there (I think 25 cents per item), so no worries. My primary complaint is that sometimes quality is sacrificed for their speediness. Once I got home only to discover that they gave me tuna instead of turkey. Yuck. Another time, no tomatoes. Another time, no nuthin, literally just bread and meat. Probably the most disappointing meal ever. But as long as they get your order right, it will be delicious. This is probably irrelevant, but I think it's funny: back home the local JJ was pretty much a front for a weed dealing operation. When the driver pulled up, you'd see like 5 guys crammed in the car, and sometimes smoke would billow out when they opened the doors. Customers actually complained their food smelled like weed. Accuracy of orders was not the best, and one driver made a point of never bringing straws. Those were the good ol days. read more

On my first experience with Jimmy John's, I dove into the deep end of the pool. One item and one item only was staring at me from the center of the online menu, calling my name: The Gargantuan. Meat plus meat, more meat and some meat on bread. I call in to place my order. Me: "I'd like the Gargantuan for delivery" JJ: "Would you like bacon on your Gargantuan?" Me: [silence] JJ: "Sir?" Me [wiping a tear from my eye] "Hell yeah, I'd like bacon on that!" I was grinning ear-to ear when I hung up the phone, and was showing a co-worker all the MEAT that comes on the Gargantuan, was in the process of telling him the story of my call: "Would you like ba-" when there was a knock on the backroom door. MY M*****F****** Jimmy John's Gargantuan meat plus meat, meat and more meat AND bacon sandwich was there. IN LIKE 8 MINUTES!!! Quick and painless - I handed the delivery guy my money, and he handed me a sandwich which felt as heavy as a newborn baby. It was delicious. I called into Jimmy John's for delivery - exceptionally hung over (you need to know this so your judgement of my laziness is within proper context). The guy on the phone was super nice and took my name, number, address and order, no problems here. About 20 minutes later (wow, that was fast!) I get a phone call and the delivery guy tells me that I am outside their delivery area, however, he is a block down the road with my food... I laugh and tell him my apartment number, assuming this was the issue. Nope, dead serious, I am apparently a block outside their delivery area and was forced to go into the daylight to retrieve my food (which was really good). I thought this was the most ridiculous thing I have ever encountered with delivery food service and was really annoyed. Why would you take my order and THEN tell me I'm outside of your delivery area. Granted, I only had to walk a block, but that's not delivery, that's: "I'll meet you somewhere between me and you" food service. I will probably order from them again because I'm a man of low integrity, but be warned, you may have to wear pants when you get your food. Not cool, Jimmy. Not cool. Very busy place at lunch time in downtown Seattle. No surprise there! I have heard such great things about the sandwiches here so while I was in the area for a training, I stopped by to have lunch. Luckily I beat the rush of lunchtime folks, placed my order, and got my sandwich in no time at all. The problem however was the sandwich itself. I got the #3, tuna sandwich will all the fixins, and was ready to devour this thing because I was starving. First off, the bread was hard and then I discovered that the tuna was dry. The cucumbers tasted like sushi which wasn't what I was expecting so I was a little put off. It's sad to say but I prefer Subway's tuna over JJ ANY day! I ate about half of my half a sandwich and threw the rest away. Maybe it was an off day for this particular Jimmy John's but my curiosity has been satisfied and I won't be coming back to a Jimmy John's anytime soon. Yuck, yuck, yuck. read more

So I've ordered to go from here twice. Both times the order was delivered incorrectly. The first time they forgot to include the avocado, and the second time they forgot to include the cheese, both of which I paid extra for. I called the first time and asked if they would just refund me for the avocado they didn't provide, and apparently that wasn't an option. They said they could deliver another sandwich but I didn't have the time to wait. The second time I didn't bother calling since they didn't fix it the first time. Don't get me wrong, I like JJ sandwiches, I think I gave the one on third a 3 or 4 stars. This rating is strictly based on the mishap of an order and their employees. First, they screw up or forgot my order... It's an assembly line process of making a sandwich and they pump out your sandwich within 1 min after you order, somehow they didn't make my sandwich and when I raised the question "where is my sandwich" the guy questioned whether I ordered from the correct register... Really? On top of this, I got called "dood" twice by two different people... We are not in California, this JJ is located in a busy business area... Strange, I used to live JJ but this last time, I was really disappointed. I ordered the Turkey Tom and felt like I was mainly eating lettuce. I think there was maybe 2 thin slices of turkey. The bread may be long but doesn't fill you up when there's no protein. I hope they improve their sandwiches. I must confess that I continue to go b/c I really like their bread. Maybe I went on an off day but my sandwich underwhelmed me for the price. I ordered a #1, "the PEPE® made with real applewood smoked ham and provolone cheese garnished with lettuce, tomato, and mayo." I grabbed this to go because I wanted to get a quick nap in before PAX. After my short walk back to the hotel, I reached our room. After a couple of bites, I found squishy white bread that felt undercooked. There was too much mayo for my taste which made the meat + cheese slide around the bread and tomato ends were used instead of proper tomato slices. Blech. Those mistakes turned me off the entire sandwich and I couldn't enjoy it as a whole. Maybe people like it because it's cheap and convenient. Reading the reviews, I can't help but think that my experienced was a one-off occurrence. I'd rather enjoy something with more substance. I don't need fancy sauces - a simple well-made sandwich will suffice. It felt like they were overwhelmed with the convention crowd and the quality suffered.
