Went to Jimmy John's for the first time and I got a #5 Vito. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable (6.50) and the sandwich was ok except for.... THE MUSTACHE HAIR IN IT! GROSS. Jersey Mike's is way better and I have never gotten a hair in my food there. Jersey Mike's also gives me the peppers and oil & vinegar on the side,but JJs didn't have containers for that. There is also no club sandwich that has turkey,bacon and avocado on it so we had to pay $2 extra to make the sandwich the way a club should be and the poor guy was still hungry. I have been here at least 30x and only one time it took them a while to get my sandwich, but they were busy so that's to be expected. First time to this chain. I walked in and three employees were talking amongst themselves (near the counter) and didn't even acknowledge me. About 5 minutes go by and I'm about to leave and head next door to the Caribbean place when another person comes from the back to take my order. I ordered 3 sandwiches from the menu when one of them tells me it would be cheaper to order plain sandwiches and add the others items. I know it's not rocket science but I couldn't understand why they have numbered selections if the employee is going to suggest ordering a la carte. When my family and I lived in Las Vegas for five years, we tried Jimmy John's, but the desert being the monstrous hellbeast that it is in food always falling short of freshness because of the heat after it's delivered, it wasn't good to us and so we didn't bother with it again. Here in Ventura, a change. Being that we live in the apartment complex behind Ralphs and therefore very much near Jimmy John's, it was time to try it again sooner or later. And I can confidently say that I prefer Jimmy John's over Jersey Mike's. In many ways, Jersey Mike's is more adventurous than Jimmy John's, but Jimmy John's is much more generous. I do understand that you don't have to have subs Mike's Way at Jersey Mike's, but I've never liked how in-your-face it is, as if it's a kind of sandwich peer pressure. At Jimmy John's, you can have it however you like it, and what's on the menu can be considered mere suggestions. The bread at Jimmy John's is firmer than what Jersey Mike's offers, which is what I prefer in a sub. Everything appears to always be fresh, having had only the tuna and provolone sub this first time in returning to it, and there's a sense of care in everything they offer. My sandwich was indeed fresh, and it tasted like whoever made it there was interested in how it turned out, especially in the tuna itself, which is Starkist of course, as seen on one of the shelves above the deli slicers, but goes to show that tuna can be prepared in many different ways and indeed have many different personalities because of that. This was one of the good tunas, a comfortable tuna. The atmosphere of Jimmy John's encourages you to have a sub the way you want, and that's how I like it. I love that it's part of my neighborhood and will definitely be going back. The employees embody this belief, too, and that's a great help in having a neighborhood sandwich shop to lean on occasionally. read more

Not worth the time. First time, got three sandwiches here, two turkeys, and a number 5 (suppose to be Italian). Got home and the two turkey subs where just that, turkey, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Nothing else. The "Italian" sub turned out to be roast beef, again with just the bare min and no condiments. The taste was unimpressive, and really the only tasty part was the bread. There a many other sub places in town, I would expect a newer place to work twice as hard to get people in with that kind of competition. Left another sandwich shop today that couldn't deliver on their gluten free bread promise and drove a bit to Jimmy John's. Glad I did. Every time that I have been here I receive good service and good food. I like their selection of sandwiches and have tried most of them. I have not been disappointed by a single one although I am partial to the Hunter's Club, with the delicious roast beef, and the Italian Night, with the flavorful Genoa Salami. Having Celiac disease I also appreciate that I can order an Unwich, a lettuce wrapped sub. I am also impressed at the speed at which they can put out their sandwiches. Placed an online order of 5 sandwiches plus a few sides for delivery. Order arrived promptly, but one sandwich was wrong. I immediately called to tell them. She asked for my order number 4 times. Explained the error and said she would get the correct sandwich out asap. She asked if we could give back the incorrect sandwich. Ok, but Wow....Just wow. Saw a sign for the smokin chicken sandwich. Went in, asked about it, they didn't know what to say about it.. Why is is Smokin? bbq sauce, peppers?? what?? Uhh Duh.... ? I ordered the sandwich, and according to the photos and the commercial it should be nice and full and delicious looking. Well the guy made it in 5 seconds, it was very thin, when I opened it up it was the bun touching each side, open it up and some chicken salad inside, and sprinkled lettuce, peppers. I love Jimmy Johns. their french bread that they bake daily is so delicious and here is a tip. for 50 cents you can buy a whole loaf of day old bread and make your own. the service is fast you can be in and out in a matter of minutes. I get the number 9 Italian night club its the BEST! read more

I ordered a turkey sub and got a sub with no turkey. I didn't figure this out until after I got home. I called and they said to come on down and I did. I told the manager and he actually checked my sandwich to see if I was lying. Really......you need to inspect my sandwich. I gave you the receipt and you could see that I didn't take the sandwich apart to remove the turkey and you could clearly see there was no turkey. Maybe you should have had the gal take her sunglasses off to make the sandwich. Sorry but I will stay with Valentino's for all sandwiches. read more

I LOVE this place and I don't care what the other people say. I missed this place so much because there were none in or around San Diego. For two years I wished they would bring it there because they had many locations in the Chicagoland area. Moving again made me hopeful and thankfully my husband and I were transferred out here! We eat there or have it delivered at least once a month. Yes the ingredients fall out sometimes when you're eating because their subs are generously stuffed. If you can't handle that, go somewhere else! The pickles are great here. They suck at Jersey Mike's. So happy to have found this piece of home again. Let me start off saying that I havent had a sandwich that plain in a long time. The employees were great but the sandwich was horrible. I got the #11 and that was the most tasteless bread and vegetables ive ever had. I think there was 2 super thin slices of meat. Great place to get a sub. Fast and delicious. All the time. #9 and #12 are a must have. I live in the LA area and the food the is different. So I know my subs and everything else this place is bomb.
