On the search for Italian food in Oak Bluff, this was the place everyone recommended. Came here for dinner. Restaurant is almost across from Back Door donuts. Likely like it was a previous house converted to a restaurant. Upon arriving, hostess pleasantly greeted us and put our name on the list since it's a relatively small spot. Good selection of foods and wines to go with it. Portion sizes are huge. Definitely big enough to share for 2-3 people. Note: they do charge a $12 share charge. As a starter, all meals come with salad and warm crusty bread with dipping oil. Ordered the Ziti Bolognese, Chicken, Broccoli and Ziti, Fettuccini Alfredo and Shrimp Scampi. All were very good. Least favorite was the Chicken, Broccoli and Ziti. All in all, definitely worth trying this place if you're craving Italian. They just need to get better A/C because it is hot in there. read more

There was a long wait, but it is worth it. The restaurant is small, but the staff is friendly and very helpful. One of the best seafood and pasta, I had in a very long time, I had the spicy red pasta withump crab meat. I tried to eat it all, but I couldn't. I went back to the hotel, put the remaining in the freezer and took it back on the plane home. It was still good. The next day very enjoyable. They have gluten-free options. I like it! We have gone twice in a week. The plates are ginormous. Before the meals come, you will be tempted by the best bread on the island. It is impossible not to devour it even knowing the huge meal coming. The salad is served in a giant steel bowl, family style with a very tasty vinaigrette and all sorts of salad veggies. Surprisingly, the salad bowl is most often emptied before the arrival of the sumptuous repast. I usually opt for the sea food de mare which comes in the cooking pan. It has uniformly been tasty and filled with seafood including scrubbed little necks in shell. The lobster ravioli is also an exceptional choice. Also served in the cooking pan. It was a small restaurant and somewhat tight. BUT...it was worth it! We looked at the menu and there was quite a savory assortment to choose from, but at first thought, a bit pricey. Wait....they serve their entrees in a large skillet, the portions were huge. Which explains the many people that we saw leave while we were waiting to be seated carrying to-go boxes. I ordered Frutti di Mare. I couldn't finish it. My wife had Ziti Bolognese and couldn't finish it. Being in a hotel, it made for a great night time snack or lunch for the next day. Went on a Saturday with a party of three other people. The service was immaculate, everyone was so kind and on top of it. The pan pasta is HUGE they aren't lying, recommend sharing with someone. I ordered the shrimp pesto pasta, it was creamy but I had to add salt. Another pair in my group shared the ziti bolognese and talked about how tasty and light it was, they finished their entire pan together. Someone else got the Linguini Carbonara they also said theirs needed some salt but was good and light. They had just came from visiting France and said it differently wasn't what they had there but still good. The garlic bread was amazing, we could have ate those all night long. Some of my favorite food on the island! The garlic confit bread was INSANE. The bread in general was so good. We were able to split the pasta and still had leftovers. The pasta was very flavorful and I love how it comes in the frying pan. Our bill was cheaper than normal because we were able to split an enteee. Definitely coming back. read more

The service here is impeccable! From the moment my friends and I walked in to celebrate my birthday dinner we were greeted with enthusiasm and immediately seated within seconds without having any type of reservations. The hostess genuinely seemed happy to seat us and we were all glad to be seated after a long day of walking and exploring the island, and especially because it was a Saturday evening. The restaurant has a family area dining style to it. It almost seems like you are seated in a living room/dining room, so it's very cozy in a way. Our waitress, Faith, was perhaps one of the best servers I've ever experienced in my many years of dining out. She truly was welcoming, accommodating, and very passionate about her job and making sure we had great service. She thoroughly explained our meals to us, made some great recommendations, and checked in us on regularly to make sure we were OK. When my sister and I hadn't received our food, she was transparent that there was a mishap in the system, but that our food wouldn't be out much longer than that. While we were there, they had a great playlist to set the atmosphere. Old school Motown songs played in the background which set a very festive and celebratory atmosphere. It was hard not to want to get up and dance, and the food was exceptional! There is complimentary salad and bread that accompanied the food which is always a good starter with Italian. Three of my friends ordered shrimp scampi which all the pasta comes out in a medium sized pan so it's enough to share with even two or three people. Be prepared to take food home with you even after sharing. I had the special of the night which was chicken and shrimp over a tomato based cream sauce with linguini (can't remember actual name), but it was very rich and filling. My sister ordered the linguine carbonara, and she loved her dish while her boyfriend ordered the land and sea special which came with steak and a side of shrimp scampi. He ordered his steak medium, and we all sampled a bit of it. It was well executed, buttery, and delicious. Last but not least since it was my birthday, Faith and her coworkers made me feel very special. They first offered me a glass of champagne, and gave me complimentary birthday cannoli at the end. They dimmed the lights in the restaurant and everyone sang happy birthday. Maybe it was our lucky day because they ended up giving our table two extra cannolis to take home, and just went out of their way to make it a very special night for me. If there was an option to zero stars that's where I would start. We got there for opening and were sat promptly ( then were told to be patient)... understandable perhaps if maybe the waitress would go down the row of her section and have gathered orders for drinks/ food for all her tables instead of one at a time... meaning... food/ drink order then brining out bread/ salad/ drink for that table... THEN going on to the next table. This portion of the experience was 30 minutes. After we waited for over 1 hour for our food we were told by her that " oh some of the other tables from other groups got theirs first... yours will be right out." 20 minutes after that only 3 of the 4 meals came out. Then was said oh... so sorry the chef forgot to make your dish. The 4th and final dish was 15 minutes after that. Scallops were not prepared properly (membrane) left on all of them. Food was all sub par; nothing to write home about except this review of complete udder disappointment. Yes we got the 4th meal free. Thanks, but no thanks for the extensive wait for people that were sat in a different section 45 minutes after we were got all their food and drink and ate and left before we got our final "free" meal. On our most recent trip the hostess was extremely rude and unaccommodating we had a large party with kids and we were willing to split up to smaller tables and her exact words were "I'm not doing that, we'll do it my way". She volunteered that she was nervous about wine service due to limited training. We were willing to overlook that as the wine list didn't have the ridiculous markup that one sometimes encounters on Martha's Vineyard. What we weren't willing to overlook was the quality of the food. It was largely tasteless, sorry to say. Our entrees didn't taste bad (ziti bolognese), rather they simply lacked taste. This was our second visit to this restaurant post COVID. Same problem each time: nondescript tasteless food. Odd.... given the intense garlic smell one encounters when entering the premises. BTW, the cold calamari appetizer was rubbery and lacked taste. I'll end on two positive notes: 1) the bread was outstanding--crusty and fresh. Warm too, if I recall. 2) The tab was reasonable, not something that is commonly encountered on Martha's Vineyard. If only the food delivered, the long lines would return. We were across the street at back door donuts when a whiff of garlic passed our noses. Immediately we were driven to Jimmy Seas. YOU CAN SMELL THIS PLACE DOWN THE BLOCK. The next day we made a reservation to go because that Saturday was too busy. We waited all day for our reservation and we were super excited. This place did not let us down. Wow, I'm shocked at the service we received last night. This place used to be a staple for my family every time we visit the island. What the HELL happened? New owners/management? We are very easy going people but the service was absolutely horrible from start to end. I've also never seen so many people pissed off at this place (or any place for that matter) than last night. I saw one customer come in and kick out another table because he was waiting for that table for over 2 hours. How does this happen? Lol. Host shouldn't be telling people which customers are the reason other customers are still waiting. Recap: - Guy that was the host told us they won't sit a party of three. Also said there is no list so you must stand outside and wait to be called on (what happened to the days of putting your name in and getting a text when the table is ready?). My brother went inside and spoke to the bartender who said that's not right and there is a list and the host shouldn't be turning away business like that. (We saw the guy turn away 2 other parties of 3). - Did not receive utensils (my dad started eating his salad with his hands lol) - Took over an hour to get our drinks after sitting down - Management nowhere to be found (employees didn't even know their managers name lol) -Bread is now that cheap bread you get at stop and shop. -Portions are NO WHERE NEAR what they used to be yet the prices are raised. I'm honestly just all around upset that this place is horrible now. None of us will ever come back. You guys should close the doors until you have an organized business otherwise you're going to lose all of your existing customers. Good luck! P.S. - I know staffing is hard, I know your bartender was taking on that role and isn't really a bartender, I know your host is brand new and was also taking on the bus boy role, I know it's the first busy day of the summer, etc. I would just close the doors and regroup. Even with a 45 min wait, this place was so worth it! Our waitress, Faith, was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and so fresh, from the hot bread and garlic oil, salad and our enormous pasta dinners (each of which could easily feed 4 people lol) There is something for everyone on their menu. I had a hard time deciding but landed on the linguini puttanesca and it was sooo good! So many amazing fresh vegetables with so much flavor. It was an additional $12 to split the meal. Salad was huge, served family style in a tangy vinegarette. I appreciated the carrots and celery, while my dinner partner wasn't too crazy about it. Bread comes with the meal, it was hot and doughy and amazing. Olive oil and some seasonings were on the table so we made our own dip. Important to note that the place is small, maybe 13 tables or so and the chairs are wooden folding chairs or small standard booths, with the exception of two tables.
