They had really great reviews to begin with for dealing with wedding dresses so I decided to give them a try. I coordinated to meet their expert tailor and she was fabulous and so helpful in customizing a look that would not diminish the overall look of the dress but just subtly tighten a mini strap at the back to shorten the length of my arm straps. It was tailored exactly as I hoped with minimal fuss and all the glory when I tried it back on. I was so happy with their tailoring g and cleaning of the dress before my wedding that I brought it back first them to have it cleaned and preserved for $350. It comes in a concealed and propped up box so that the dress maintains its quality over the years until I decide to use it again and/or maybe pass it down to my stepdaughter. I get the sense that the owner is very skilled in his work HOWEVER, the owner is really, really, rude. First impressions are always important, and we only went to this place out of recommendation from the dry cleaners nearby. We came in, he didn't address us, so we politely greeted him. He was busy, which I understand, so we waited until he asked us what we needed, which was just a small alteration to a dress (just making it a little shorter). He told me to go put it on first, which I did, and then came out. We told him how short we wanted it, and he made me turn and turn, until he made me look at him and said " Stop. Please. Every time you look down it moves the dress".... I didn't know... this was my first time getting an alteration. Furthermore, I kept stepping on my dress which is why I looked Down for only a second. But the way he said it sounded like he was yelling, and mad. It felt like he was talking down on me. There is a kinder way of saying what you need me to do. You don't need to sound so rude. You can say it's how you were raised, it's your culture, or whatever, but you are running a business so you need to know that not a lot of people will like your attitude. You need to learn how to treat all of your customers. I was crying in the dressing room afterwards because it really sounded like he was mad at me for not knowing better. Also there was a guy who came after me and was waiting patiently, he didn't hear the owner the first time, and the owner threw his hand up, basically like a "come on, seriously?" way. I looked past it and kept encouraging my husband to use him, until I had to deal with the man in person. I don't know what his problem with me was, but do not bring your stuff here. I dropped off my husband's shirts and the owner was rude to me from the start. When I came back the next morning with a sample shirt, he pushed me for money before he had sewn a single stitch. No courtesy, no customer service, just demands. I decided to take the shirts elsewhere because four days for a basic stitch is slow and he was extremely overpriced. When I came to pick them up he yelled at me on the street, in front of my child, and told me not to come back, all because I chose to go somewhere else after how he treated me. I was polite every single time. Yelling at a woman with her child standing there tells you what you need to know about this business. There are shops nearby that charge less and treat people like customers. Go to one of them.

I never would've found this place. If it weren't for Cindy's formal wear. That's where she sent all of her clients to get their formal gowns altered. But you can also get costume, jewelry, handbags, and other accessories to accompany you on whatever kind of event you have. At first i didn't think they could possibly fix my jeans but after a couple days of waiting, i went back to surry alterations and boy oh boy do i have some news because... my jeans... They fit perfectly! And you couldn't even tell they were altered! This happy puppy will most definitely be back at surry alterations if i have any more jean problems or really any problems with any clothing piece. Now if i had to use one picture to describe the big fat smile on my face after my experience with Surry Alterations it would be the one I'm going to pin to this review.
