Slammed by 11:30AM Monday Lots of restaurants are closed on Monday; Not Jimmy's. This fine small neighborhood restaurant offers great food to a dedicated audience. Kudos to Server and Chefs. Our long-time server may deserve the Best in Dayton award. She navigates tables and orders with great ease. Jimmy's does an great take-out order, and this is compounded with a full lunch time service. Lots of pizzas and takeout to go, and somehow orders come out in +/_ 20 minutes. I have heard so many good things about this place but somehow I have never eaten here. Well that changed today I brought lunch in for customers and I must say I was very impressed. The place smells amazing when I walked in the order was ready and accurate always a plus. I went with the cheese ravioli garlic knots and salad. Very tasty the ravioli was tasty and I don't think you could get more cheese taste. Delicious pasta stuffed with ricotta and smothered in mozzarella and broiled. Let's start with how much I loooooove a good Italian dish and my go to usually lasagna. Problem is that we rarely get to eat it due to how much it messes with my blood sugars. But... the lovely Mrs has been wanting to try Jimmy's out so we decided to meet family here for dinner and I am super pleased we did as this was incredible! We got there around 530, it's a cute small store so it was already crowded but the aroma wafting from the kitchen kind of makes you forget about possibly waiting for a table. The servers took care of us immediately as they separated a table for six & set up our table for four. This seemed thoughtful as we would have waited for a table for just us but regardless there was absolutely no hesitation is doing this. Service is attentive, polite and doesn't roll their eyes when I ask a bunch of questions about the menu. I decided on lasagna, the lovely Mrs order's fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, brother orders chicken cacciatore and his wife ordered the eggplant Parmesan... it's a very short wait for our meals to show up and they are like lava hot which is impressive considering how short the wait had been. My lasagna is tasty but way too much tomato and not quite enough cheese, meat and pasta for my likings but the flavor was incredible. The lovely Mrs's fettuccine was my favorite dish as it's just creamy pasta flavored to perfection. Don't get me wrong, they are all very good and I would have issues on what to get during our next meal here. I stopped and chatted with the kitchen staff and they were polite and informative when asked questions. It's a super nice mom and pop eatery that I wish we had more of as we'd drive way further and drive past numerous 'corporate' store to go here. Just plan accordingly as there may be a wait, the food will come to your table straight out of the oven. This is when you take a chance to try the garlic rolls because as I am writing this, I wished I'd bought a 6pk to bring home as they were some of the best rolls I'd ever had... if you're ever in the area and are wanting something special, go here, have an incredible meal(and plan to take leftovers home as the portions are massive). Happy to finally get here and enjoy another new experience from my Italian bucket list. Jimmy's is definitely on the far edge of my distance radius but I'd come back anytime just for those little garlic rolls! Amazingly soft, fresh, hot, tasty and comforting. It's a cozy setting, feels like home. Two dining rooms, booths plus a lot of tables. Not a lot of space between them so it will be loud, in a good way. Like an Italian family gathering. It's a little dark inside and the simple decor is sweet. Loved my Veal Parmigiana, and loved that there was no issue substituting linguine for the included spaghetti. My husband got the Veal Piccata. Meat was tender and generous. Both sauces were great, the marinara was chunky and outstanding. Prices definitely reasonable too. Our waitress was on the ball, attentive, and so enthusiastic and so cheerful! She had to cover a lot of tables and didn't miss a beat. Sorry I didn't get her name but I will remember her! Our app was brought by a gentleman who I believe may have been Jimmy. I noticed another table where a pizza was ordered and I'm not positive (since I didn't want to crane my neck and stare) but I fear it was cut up into squares instead of slices. Eek! Sacrilege! I forgive them, but would be very mindful of discussing this if I ever ordered pizza there. New York rolls on the menu though, can't wait to try one. There's no actual bar to sit at, though "full bar" drinks are available. There's a 4 % surcharge for card payments which is automatically on the bill, so speak up if you're paying cash. Great food, reminds me of a 1970s diner. Good, quick service, food comes out fast. Definitely appropriate for a date or a family dinner.

My Family of 4 ate here tonite. No Ac was on, we were all hot. Our server rushed us out the door it felt like. She put our to go box's on top of the food as we were all still eating and then the check on top of that, we didn't ask for the box's or the check. We were moving the to go box's and the check around as we eat for another 20 mins. The kids wanted tiramisu for dessert, our server didn't ask if we wanted dessert before she gave us the check half way through our meal. And then acted upset she had to fix the check. I would have loved to not gave her a tip at all, but the wife was there and she's soft as butter so I left $5. The service was terrible, rude and we were rushed out. NO AC on a 87 degree day ? Food tasted ok, but nothing was really good at all. Over priced and I won't recommend you go here. Olive Garden is better, sadly and I hate the olive Garden. read more

If you want an interesting take on Italian, Jimmy's is around. It was a middle-of-the-road experience, but I do love some of the creative takes they have on their food (and the alfredo's cheesiness is NOT kidding around!) The menu offers cash-only prices; there's a 4% upcharge if you use a credit card to pay. PROS: -The entrees offer a good chunk of "freebies" including a salad and two garlic bread knots. -If you're always upset that restaurants skimp on the alfredo, this is your place. My food was absolutely swimming in a rich, creamy sauce that was ridiculously luscious. Very, very heavy but in the best of ways. -Parking is ridiculously easy. They are located next to (but not in) a strip mall with a ton of excess parking. -Prices are on the lower end. If you're tired of paying $15+ for just appetizers, you'll find Jimmy's prices really refreshing. -Staff was busy but friendly. They checked in pretty often. CONS: -The lasagna doesn't appear to be a traditional lasagna. It was small strips of a lasagna noodle (cut into strips) alongside small bites of meat in an alfredo/cheese-esque soup. There wasn't any square/rectangle of cut-out lasagna that I usually expect from a lasagna dish, and it felt like way, way less noodle and meat that I usually get from a lasagna. -Our carbonara was really fascinating. It was a marinara-esque sauce that tasted closer to a spaghetti sauce than anything else. It was good, but definitely not what we were expecting! -I almost never leave an Italian place (especially with alfredo options!) hungry, but I did here. -The complimentary house salad felt a little weird. It's a bowl of basic lettuce with one tomato slide, two onion cuts, and one cucumber slice on top. The "one" topping of each additional topping felt not-great. Maybe it's just who prepped salads that night, but both of our salads came out the same way. -The sole restroom in the building was out of soap. I know the wait staff is always really busy, but after noticing a couple of wait staff use that restroom then leave, it was mildly concerning to go to pee and find no soap. read more

We went on Friday a little after 5pm. The food was great. My husband and I both ordered lasagna and I love their rolls. We don't eat out a great deal. We use to eat at Jimmy's more and we celebrated graduations, birthday's there. Unfortually I don't think we will eat there anymore. We may order take out. The service was horrible. After being seated and waiting for water and a menu. She served us but never came back and checked on us. I had to look for her to get more water as I was completely out. And then when we asked for the check she walked by and kind of threw the check pad on the table without saying anything. My wife and I ate at this establishment yesterday and we were not happy with the food or the price. I ordered spaghetti with two meatballs and a sausage and the meal ended up costing $32. Each meatball and sausage was $4.15. My wife ordered Fettuccine Alfredo and it was $27. Breadsticks were $8. We ordered diet cokes and each one was in a 12oz can and was $1.85 per can. We each drank 2 cans. So no free refills. We did get desert at $4 or so each. Total bill before tip: $93. If you pay with debt or credit card they add 4% of total to your bill so add another $3.60 to the bill because you paid with credit card. Taste of the food was not like we remember or the prices. Now I know everything costs more but the prices of everything here versus the taste is outlandish. Portion sizes are good. Service was good. Can't see going back here based on the prices. read more

The smell of roasting garlic hits you as soon as you open the door. We've been here several times and it never disappoints. I love the pizza. I think it's the best in town. Our first time here for dinner. What a great experience. The idea came from our son and his girlfriend. Well what a great suggestion! We showed up and were warmly greeted and seated right away. The decor is kitchy and down home Italian. It's the smells and the warmth that draw you in. Trust me. Jacque greeted us and ended up being our server. We started with garlic bread and had plenty to share when our son and his girlfriend arrived. A very nice wine list made the start easy and tasty. The kids ended up getting cheese ravioli while my wife got a Greek salad. I went all in for the chicken carbonara with pink sauce. Everything arrived looking great and hot. The ravioli looked great and didn't last long at all. My wife's Greek salad was totally fresh and the feta was so full of flavor. My chicken carbonara was off the hook! The chicken was so tender, the pasta was exceptional and fresh and the sauce was deamy. Where has that been all my life?! A great dinner and Jacque took such exceptional care of us too. We came here for lunch on a Saturday. My husband had eggplant parmigiana and I had the lasagna. Both tasted good. I felt the lasagna could use ricotta. I couldn't tell if it was even in there. The sauce was tasty though. My husbands portion was huge and came with a side of spaghetti. The salad was mostly iceberg and we prefer romaine but it was fresh. What I did not like is that they charge more (4%) if you use a charge card. Instead of charging me more, up your prices and give a discount for cash. Don't nickel and dime me. A hidden gem. My daughter and I have been curating a list of new places to try. Jimmy's was on the list and my husband and I actually had an opportunity to try it this past weekend. It between a place we had to go to and another were stopping at on our way home so we opted for a late lunch. It was well worth it. My husband chose the Stromboli and I chose a cheese calzone and added ricotta, throwback to the old Italian Oven calzones if you are familiar with that franchise. The only thing I would've added is some more garlic. The sauce was amazing. The calzone was perfectly cooked. My husband loved his Stromboli. The prices were very good. The service was outstanding. Ate here for the first time tonight. Place has that small old Kettering restaurant charm to it. A hidden small building in a plaza off woodman. A fairly decent sized Italian menu and can accommodate requests. Pasta dishes are big but smaller than a Cheesecake Factory dish. The bread they bring out with your pasta dish is a 8/10. Our waitress was great and made us feel like her only table even though I could see her running around to 6 other tables throughout the night. Ate at Jimmy's while visiting family in the area. Quaint restaurant tucked on a corner of a busy street but plenty of parking in the shopping plaza behind it. The inside was good. Nothing fancy. They will accommodate large parties, as one was happening while we were there. The ladies group had reserved tables. So that's nice. Service was very good. We were there at lunch and there was one waitress hustling to serve everyone but she handled like a pro (thanks Maria). We shared a meatball appetizer. I thought it was good, but for me personally, I thought it needed more seasoning but everyone else raved over them. Entrees we got were the spinach ravioli and stuffed eggplant. Both came with 2 garlic knots and a salad. They were very good. I like the sauce on the raviolis better than the sauce that came with the meatballs. Tea has free refills but soda come by the can. Visited this old Taco Bell building on a Friday night. So glad we made reservations which they do take because there was a wait. Because they were so busy the service was somewhat slow, BUT our food was excellent! Hubby got the pizza, I got the works calzone & our son got the shrimp diavolo pasta. We all really enjoyed our dishes! My son said he did wish they had removed the shrimp tails prior to serving, though. They sell beer, wine & yummy sangrias as well. I will say the price was a little high, but I guess that's normal with Italian food & we did have alcoholic beverages. I stopped by Jimmy's last Saturday night around 8. I was able to get a seat on the patio and was served quickly. I got the Chicken Piccata, a nice lemony choice for a summer evening. The garlic knots were wonderful and a great way to dab up leftover sauce. I also had a piece of their Tiramisu. It had a firmer cake-like consistency than many of the thawed frozen sliced Tiramisu you find around. It was a little different but obviously house-made, unique and delicious. The only downside for me was the house Italian dressing. I prefer a good vinegar bite to my Italian dressings and this was more bland. Everything else including the service was superb! read more
