I'm coming back to update this and say that Jimmy's has seriously upped it's game! My daughter's in-laws hosted her wedding rehearsal dinner at Jimmy's last October and it was outstanding! Great service, great food, everything was fantastic! My husband and I took our daughter and son-in-law back for an impromptu celebration dinner recently and had a similar good meal and good service. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp this time and it was great, tasty, cheesy and the sauce was thick and creamy. I cannot remember when or where I've had better. My sil has had the shrimp scampi both times and he raves about it too. Glad I gave this place another chance! read more

Several friends recommended this restaurant to us; we really like Italian food so it seemed that this was a natural place to be on our list. And given how popular we heard this place is, we figured that we should go relatively early. I am glad that we did as people started streaming in around 5:30, and the restaurant quickly filled. The menu appeared to be your standard fare for a smaller Italian restaurant, including a selection of salad, pasta, entrees, pizza, and calzones/Stromboli. My wife and I each went to our favorites: calzone for me and chicken Alfredo. We both liked our respective meals, and the portions were generous enough that we had leftovers to bring home. I really liked the marinara sauce but there was not enough ricotta cheese throughout the calzone for me. The cook was nice enough to add broccoli to my wife's meal but she thought that there some spices missing. We went there for dinner tonight, and from the begining we should have went somewhere else. They were extremely busy with a big table and we had to wait a long time to be seated. We finally got seated, and had to wait awhile to put in our order. After 35 minutes, we asked where our food was. The waitress went to the kitchen and we could hear her say she didn't do something correctly and our order was never placed. She then came out of the kitchen and instead of coming to our table and apologizing and say she screwed up, she completely ignored us until we got her attention and asked for a manager. We were told the only manager on duty is the kitchen manager and he was too busy to come talk to us. When we got up to leave with no food, he finally came to the front door and told us there wouldn't be any charge for the food we never received! The house vinaigrette was incredible and I found out this place is known for their homemade Italian Sausage, I don't even like Italian sausage much but I loved it. The portions were a perfect size. I needed a pasta fix and my fav restaurants in downtown Dayton are closed on Monday. So I got in yelp to find a new spot and came across this family owned Italian restaurant. When you see other Italians coming into eat here you know you are in the right spot. I ordered the fettuccini dinner which was soooo good and creamy. I always have to ask for extra sauce with my pasta dishes but I trusted that I didn't have to make any extra additions. Every dinner comes with 2 garlic rolls and a salad. If you like garlic and bread ask for extra rolls because they are soooooo good. There is enough pasta to have for leftovers the next day which I love. The house dressing is really good as well. I plan on making this a staple place to go to for pasta after work. The customer service here is great as well. Everyone was super sweet. They also have wine and beer so if you want to pair your food with a spirit you have that option. read more

The Italian saga continues. This is in an old Taco Bell building, so curb appeal is limited. There's a chalkboard with"specials" as you enter. One of our group orders from the "Specials" and is told that even though it's lunch, the specials are dinner portions. She agrees and we sit back. Salad come out and sure enough there's the little plastic container of dressing in the corner. Then the garlic knots. And I'm curious so I ask if they're affiliated with Troni's and turns out it used to be owned by the brother of Troni's after they had a falling out. He's since passed and there's new owners. I had a trio of pasta - ravioli, baked shell and manicotti. It was good....very good for Dayton. But not quite as good as Troni's (especially the garlic knots) I brought some home for lunch the next day. When my friend got her bill for chicken, spinach pasta from the chalkboard special it was for $27. She was shocked but blamed herself because she didn't ask the price first. She complained while sucking it up and paying, and they kindly ignored here. I had a good laugh. My bill was about $9. I would eat here again, but would stay away from the specials. read more

We keep dragging friends with us to introduce them to this gem in the Miami Valley and they are now repeat customers. We sat outside on the patio which was decent but a bit warm since there are no fans to move the air. My wife and I followed the waiters suggestion and ordered the Chicken Marcella and a salad. Our daughter ordered the fettuccini with chicken. On a ten point scale our dinner was a 6. The portion sizes were generous but for the salad. The salad dressing was tasty but very thin like water. Our waiter was ver god but neither he or any of the staff were not masking which seems to be the norm all over Ohio. This was uncomfortable for us. Be forewarned that finding masked staff and patrons in Ohio was in our experience impossible and we were in every big city in Ohio. Would I recommend Jimmy's? If your from a town known for good or great Italian food like St. Louis or New York - No. if you come from a place with Americanized Italian food and don't make it from scratch at home you will probably be happy with Jimmy's. read more

The pizza was delicious, the crust was great and flaky, the cheese was fresh, and the size was perfect! The the wait Staff & the Owner was Very nice & accommodating. The food was very good except even I got the Chicken parm the chicken was a thicker than at any other Italian Restaurant that I know of, the spaghetti was a good portion. But the sauce ( was the real winner) tasted very good it had to be homemade no tomato paste from a can here. I know because every time I eat anything that has caned tomato paste in it I get sick. Plus you can tell when the sauce is homemade the Garlic Rolls was very good worth going back for. All & All we will be going back. It's hard to find a Italian restaurant that's food is better than you can make at hone. Restaurant looked a little old does look like the decor can use some wiping down notice some spider webs on the grapes and lots of dust. Our daughter order the Pizza she devoured that pizza so good. Hubby had the special Portobello Ravioli with Alfredo sauce not good no flavor even after the server said made from scratch like a few reviews I saw it was bland sauce, raviolis were hard on the corners. We also order Tiramisu this is were I was truly disappointed it was a chocolate cake with chocolate drizzled on top not coffee flavor nor creamy texture on top.
