Terrible experience and mediocre food. We had a large party where some of us got the buffet and some got entrées. At the end of our meal my wife and daughter put their remaining food in the same To-Go box. An employee (I believe it was the manager) approached my daughter and accused her of putting buffet food in the to go box. We explained that it was my wife's entree, not buffet food and opened the box to show him . He as very rude and I had to tell him that was enough as my daughter was crying. Know before you go...I took my wife and daughter to Jimmy's tonight so I could enjoy the seafood buffet. After were seated, the server informed us that at least half our party had to get the buffet in order to be served. My wife and daughter were planning to order an entree as they could not eat enough for the buffet, which we have done in the past. There is nothing on the website, Facebook page, etc stating this policy. Needless to say, we ended up leaving the restaurant. Didn't quite hit the mark. We visited the OBX for the first time since I was a kid (circa 1975). Being near the ocean we were super excited about the opportunity to have FRESH seafood! And now living in MN we were even more excited! I looked at local reviews on YELP and found Jimmy's to be pretty favorable. .. Go with the other buffets. Our food was cold and not up to par. One lobster tail per person brought to your table, desserts that looked like my 14 yo made them, and while the options were plentiful the price did not equal the quality. We ordered the BOGO frozen drinks and my "collectible" tall plastic glass was deformed as if it were put in a dishwasher. So weird. All I could think of was Gordon Ramsey and Kitchen Nightmares and prayed their storage of food wasn't old and bad. We paid $55 /person. Fabulous dinner! Great selection of seafood - not even just crabs but tuna, salmon, lobster, oysters etc. Also had good section of sides like baked potatoes, hush puppies, fresh veggies, side salad & toppings. Jimmy's Seafood Buffet has been around for a while, but they seem to be slipping somewhat. The quality of food has depreciated from my past experiences eating here previous vacations. We attended on a Friday which was lobster tail day - and those lobster tails weren't exactly fresh. All of the clams were meatless (besides being tiny) and just sitting in the warmer tray. Most of the food is acceptable for what you might expect for an all-you-can-eat place but for what they charge per head you really should get better than "acceptable". There was only three dessert selections unless you wanted ice cream, bread pudding or cookies. read more

Finally called to see what was going on and the person who answered said it was all our fault for not coming in and checking with them. Woman got very hateful saying it was all our fault, we had been faithful customers for over 10 years they lost our business forever don't waste your time go somewhere else that appreciates the money. Get there early! We arrived at opening time and barely got a table. This was by far one of the best places I've ever eaten! The food was incredible, and I ate six plates of swordfish and salmon and four. Doors of soup. When it comes to buffets, this was amazing. All the food is homemade and very reasonably priced! Extremely busy restaurant - makes sense on all you can eat lobster tail and crab leg night. Large variety of crab legs that were hot and delicious. A plethora of other seafood, vegetables, and fried items. Overall, well stocked and maintained buffet bar. Some of the fried items were cold. Restaurant itself is very small, tables are very close together and if you are seated along the windows, you have to maze your way through the dining room. Almost hit a few people upside the head with my plate on my way back to my seat it was so crowded. Waiter was absolutely wonderful, always present when needed and extremely friendly. Online wait times did not match time waited. I believe this is due to the incompetence of the hostess stand. Joined waiting list at 6:00pm, checked in with hostesss about 6:10pm and they said 30 minutes. At 6:40pm we go to check on the status of our table and hostess said 40 more minutes. After explaining that we had already waited their stated time, we were seated. Have been to numerous restaurants that use the online waitlist and this was the only restaurant that did not utilize this service as well as they should. read more

I have been to a lot of seafood buffets but I must say Jimmys is one of the best! The food was hot and delicious! My family and I were here and were looking for a seafood place that would allow us all to enjoy what we like the most. Now mind you it is not fancy, it is not quiet but the staff is very attentive and informative of the products you are enjoying. Ethan is an incredible server!!! Ethan has a lot of product knowledge and knows how to make your meal memorable. We had 6 lobster tails. Lobster tails were free before 5 pm on Tuesday I think and the buffet. You not only get one variety of crabs but you get 5 to 6 with proper signage to tell you the origin and species of crabs, ie, Canadian crabs, stone crabs, etc. It is not that expensive considering all the fresh seafood you get to enjoy, plus the salad bar, the soup, and desserts. They have fried seafood and steamed seafood. Jimmys covers it all. Where can you eat all the crab you want and lobster tails on Tuesdays for $55 per person? Now where! Also, the complaints about long wait times are unfounded. On their website is an app where you can make a reservation so to speak. You find out how many people are ahead of you even from your home. We had a very short time to wait with using the app. We left when we had seen there were maybe 8 to 10 peoplea head of us. When you arrive one person goes in to tell the hostess you have arrived and wait in the car till they text you. Was not a long wait once we arrived and I went in to confirm our arrival. I left there needing a wheelbarrow to take me to the car. It may not be the Blue Point restaurant but the food is a hell of a lot better. read more

It was a terrible experience. No one should pay 55$ for a buffet like that. To start the soda was all flat with a very odd flavor. The buffet had a large variety but nothing was good. They need to have cheaper options for those who would just like salad bar. 20$ for that measly salad bar is not fair. Came here for the famous seafood buffet for $55 per person. The place was very busy on a Tuesday night but we got there by 5:15 and got right in. The good: they had a wide selection of seafood and non- seafood items. So an A+ for variety. The margaritas were strong too. The desserts were also tasty, especially the Key Lime pie. The quality of the crab legs were excellent, as were the shark, salmon and flounder filets. Our server was very friendly as were the rest of the staff. The bad: the lobster claws were dry and over-cooked which was disappointing. Also the steamed clams and scallops were tiny- smaller than a dime! The food was all lukewarm too, and many times the hot food trays needed re-filling. I would have given it more than 3 stars if the price was more in the $35-40 range, but for that price I expected more. read more

This was amazing! Let me start by saying I am a seafood lover and don't waste space on fried foods or fillers. This buffet had king crab, stone crab, dungeness, and blue crabs. We also got there during the lobster tail special All the steamed seafood was amazing, other than the blue crabs which were water logged. The dungeness and king crabs as well as the clams were the absolute best and worth the $38 all you can eat price. What a mess! Rude staff. Didn't even eat here, walked away. As did another party that was near us.

Our party of 8 dined at Jimmy's this evening. 3 adults, 5 children. Our bill came to $294 for everyone's buffet and non alcoholic beverages. The Yelp! Waitlist was very helpful and accurate. We arrived at our arrival time and waited about 15 minutes for a table. The interior space is NOT very large. The dining room was crammed shoulder to shoulder and wall to wall with people. It was also very, very loud. Our server was attentive and personable. We tipped him well. The tables are lined with condiments, paper towels and seafood eating tools. We dined on Wild Wednesday and were unaware of the $10.66 upcharge per adult this evening. The only place on their website you'll find this information is on the "Specials" page where it notes "slight upcharge". This was a 20% upcharge-not slight. There are 5-6 "bays" of food items. One bay is mostly fried American foods, one is fried seafoods, one is steamed crab legs and a mini salad bar, another is specialty items like lobster tails and claws, etc, there is a "kids food bay" and desserts. It should be noted that the giant "menu" online is just an idea of what they MAY or may not have. My first take away is this: I was able to try crab legs tonight I've never tried and that was fun. We enjoyed the Baradi crab legs from Deadliest Catch the most. Our groups kids are 10, 7,7,6 and 3. We spent $67 on lemonades, vanilla ice cream, a couple of onion rings, a handful of tater tots, and a chicken tender or two between them all. The chicken tenders were fried to oblivion. The mac and cheese was oddly sweet. The hush puppies and corn dogs could break a glass window. Even the ice cream machine was a let down as it was immediately soup in the hot room. If you're interested in dining on a WIDE variety of mediocre seafood items-this is the place! Under the sea creatures steamed and fried and every preparation in between. The staff were so helpful despite the fact that they were BUSY. They knew our hands were messy with crab and butter so taking a pic of our table was less fumble than it could have been. So, we loved all the variety of the carb legs and even the flexible children options from $12.99 or 2x their age. The $50+ per adult with drinks was worth it people. Actually Worth It. Like Seattle Dungenous crab usually costs $50 by itself at other restaurants but here at Jimmy's its literally all you can eat! The Monday lobster comes from your server so ask them directly. Let me know if you could taste a difference between then Norwegian, Alaskan and snow crab legs. I think the Norwegian was actually more flavorful for some reason...and not cuz my butter had remnants of all the other crabs. Lol Save a little room for the all you can eat self serve key lime pie. I have practically ZERO pics of the food because honestly my hands were so nasty I didn't want to touch my phone...and this is a good thing because I love food porn. Come hungry and come early so you can go somewhere North on 12 to do a little sunset dreaming of the epic seafood you are digesting at that very moment. I have no idea how on earth there are so many 5- star reviews for this place! It's basically a loud, crowded cafeteria that sells crab legs. Most other things we tried on the buffet were totally tasteless. All but one or two varieties of Crab legs/ lobster claws were dry and bland. If all you want is crab legs, you're good, but if you want a varied meal, the sides are lacking. We didn't try everything, but the broccoli was raw and the coleslaw was oddly sweet. Would be impossible to have a conversation. Waiter said that half of us had to eat buffet. Half of us didn't want buffet and specifically went here so some could eat buffet but most of us wanted to eat off the menu. People are savages, so if having people on top of you and stepping on you to get to the buffet isn't your thing, you may want to avoid. Service was good and the under 3 price is amazing. This review is based solely on the last 2 times I've been to Jimmy's this year (2023). -- When I went in a group of people (6): every thing went well. Nice waiters checking on us throughout our meal. Water refilled often. -- When I went in there alone (1) as my family was kinda sick of seafood that day: less than average experience! One guy kept checking to make sure I (1) start my meal, (2) hurry through it, and (3) pay and get the h*ll out. It wasn't exactly a packed evening either; just kinda crowded but not long waiting line. They didn't offer to refill water. And get this, whenever I checked my phone for a minute, that same waiter/guy will come ask if everything's okay. I was thinking to myself, 'are you okay'? and "You know we do have a 2 hours limit" blah blah. It was only 1 hour and 20 minutes in since I was placed. Plus I ate slowly and already finished my meal. I was just sitting there waiting for my husband to pick me up... Not like I tried to stay a whole night or eat like it's the last day I have food. How rude! I guess one lone person sitting at a table by herself could be a crime?? Hello Anyway, I felt very rushed through the entire experience. Would've rated less than 3 star if it wasn't for all of the previous great experiences. I guess in the future I'll bring at least another person when I go there, so I don't have to go through this type of treatment again. Not when each ticket is $66 (that was their "Specials night" with the lobster tails deal which turned out mediocre quality of lobster tails; and after everything it's $80+ a person.
