The staff is very nice and go out of their way to make sure you're happy. All the ladies working cashiers are comfortable and helpful with menu options. Cooks know what they're doing especially 8pm staff. Fresh food and under 20 minutes, better than McDonald's. Environment was retro but needs more work outside.

It was a decent place. Everyone was nice. The restaurant was a bit dusty but it's an older place. My boyfriend and I had a pastrami sandwich It was a bit pricey. My bread was super soggy. My daughter had chili cheese fries. She said they were ok. The drive through was backwards so it's best to get down and order. Oh and there was a worker standing outside with a knife lol.

Item Ordered: Breakfast Burrito Pulled up to Jim's kinda skeptical, but damn... this breakfast burrito came through like a clutch friend at 8 AM after a long night out. First off, it's HUGE. Like, "I might save half for later--but then I didn't" huge. The eggs were cooked just right, fluffy and not rubbery. Bacon? Crispy with a little snap, not that limp, greasy strip you get at some drive-thru. Potatoes had a nice crunch, and everything was wrapped up tight in a warm, grilled tortilla. Bonus points for not falling apart halfway through eating it in the car. You can tell it's a local spot that doesn't cut corners. It's not flashy, just straight-up good food done right. Chill dining room area. Service was quick, prices were fair, and they're not stingy with portions. If you're in Pico and craving a real-deal breakfast burrito that won't break the bank, Jim's is it. I'll definitely be back--might have to try it with sausage next time, or go wild and add chili cheese.

Cheeseburger combo, with amazing seasoned fries!

Came to Jim's burgers after work, the drive thru line was out to the St, which to me means some good food! I parked and came inside. The combos are the only way to go if your on a budget. I wish they had more options, because if you want a party melt , fries, and a drink, it's going to run you $20 plus bucks. Ordered the cheeseburger combo, and it was delicious. The bun was soft and fresh, their house sauce is so tasty and the tomatoes, onions, pickles, lettuce, are fresh. Meat was not dry at all or overcooked. The fries were equally tasty, and nicely seasoned. They even walked my order to me. The cashier was very nice, and also brought my drink. You do get refills which I appreciate. The only complaint I had, was the ketsup in the red squeeze bottle. It was so tangy and just tasted spoiled. I would suggest you check out how long they have been out there, esp in this heat. Other than that, the food here is outstanding for a burger joint, and they even make shakes! I will be back, thanks for the great food!

Restaurant was clean and the service was absolutely fantastic. The food was great, if you want to give the quesadillas a kick get the green salsa. Absolutely delicious and has a fantastic bite. The sign says it opened in 71, wow!!!! Totally swing in for a great meal.

Since I was a tot I came to this place old school as it gets. Walking up the smell brought back memories. And the children I believe run the place but the original owner still is blessed to be with us per one of the employees. Its busy as always even for a Saturday. So nice how I greeted by the counter staff. Watching the grill as the cooks do their thing brings back great memories of my mom and I coming and getting food. The hamburgers still look like the original big burger. I ordered 2 Asada burritos 1 chili verda burritos and a Asada super fries. Wow still the greatest food like going back in time. Always hired great cooks and good counter staff. My family enjoyed the food. So glad it's still owned by the family I knew when I was younger. This isn't like the recent burger joints, a acquaintance of mine who was born in New York and raised before his teen years. They can make all kinds of burger joints but nothing compares to old school greasy spoon. One of the last true Jim's burgers

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. I wish it was a main menu item. I'll definitely be sad to see it go. They have lots of seating inside and outside.

The moment I took my first bite, I immediately noticed that the ricotta tasted sour and spoiled. I drove back to the restaurant to request a refund. Unfortunately, my refund was not honored because the manager, Aimee, was not present. Karely, the lead on duty, seemed unsure of how to handle the situation and attempted to explain that the sour taste was simply the lemon in the ricotta. That explanation was disappointing because there is a clear difference between the intended lemon flavor and the taste of spoiled dairy. What upset me most was the lack of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. As a customer, I expected the issue to be taken seriously, especially when food safety is involved. If a manager is unavailable, staff should be properly trained and empowered to handle customer concerns appropriately. I am currently four months pregnant, which made this experience even more concerning. I wasted my time, gas, and energy driving back to the restaurant, only to leave without a refund or any resolution. This was by far the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in Downey, and unfortunately, I will not be returning.

The line was moving at first, but as soon as the game started, it completely stopped. They have a sign at the entrance that everyone in your party had to be present before entering. However, while we were waiting, we saw people being allowed inside because members of their party were already in the restaurant. That was inconsistent and unfair to everyone who had been waiting patiently inline. Another customer in-front of the line spoke up and told the hostess and the security guard about the situation, but they said there was nothing they could do and the host walked away and the security guard kept saying he just works there and does what he is told to do. The manager never came out to speak with the people waiting or address the situation. What made it even more frustrating is that the restaurant had a 90-minute seating limit clearly posted on the entrance door. That policy did not appear to be enforced, as guests stayed well beyond the posted limit while those of us waiting outside never had the opportunity to get in. We understand that World Cup games bring large crowds, but if you're going to post policies and ask customers to follow them, they should be enforced consistently for everyone. Better organization, communication, and management would have made a huge difference. After waiting nearly two hours before the game started and during the game, we left extremely disappointed and hungry. We were planning to consume. Not only were going to watch the game but my party and I were planning to eat and drink and have a good time. Never coming back here, and neither should you.
