Egg plates and what is substitutable.

First time here. I ordered coffee and glass of ice water. She brought my coffee cup with her fingers over the lip of the cup instead of on the handle. I said no offense but I'd like another cup and it served by the handle, like they instruct in food handler classes. She rolled her eyes but did as I asked and I thanked her. I placed my order of eggs and asked if I could get sliced tomatoes instead of hash browns. Sure she said. Ok I'll have the bacon, side of grits and a biscuit to complete it. Finishing my meal, I looked at my bill and there was a $1.79 charge for two slices of tomatoes along with the meal and coffee charges. I asked her if she would remove that tomato charge bc she didn't tell me there would be one? (.90¢ for 1 slice?) She said she didn't understand why it was on the bill (who preps the final bill for the customer?) in the first place and turned away with it but then turned right around and said no she couldn't remove it because I was only supposed to get one side with the breakfast plate. Well, I did get the side of grits, and the tomatoes were supposed to be in place of the hashbrowns. The menu doesn't say there's a charge for a substitution unless it was for a fruit. Things went downhill from there. I said I didn't think I should have to pay that because you didn't tell me there was going to be an up charge. She said well I'm sorry that's just the way it is and I said well then that's your tip then. and I went to the register to pay my bill and she followed me and kept bad mouthing at me all the way to the register and told me to never come back. Don't remember her name ( middle aged, attractive Afro-American) but my register receipt says "Server 36 AM Cash"? 9:37AM Table 43/1 Don't worry, I'll never go to another Jim's after this debacle!

Chicken Fried Chicken Breakfast with scrambled eggs and biscuits

Had breakfast while in town. Tiki Hubby ordered chicken fried steak of course, for breakfast I ordered one pancake. Friend order senior pancake breakfast. Service was slow waitress seems distracted by those she knew or regulars. Everyone around us got there food even though we where there before them. Food was okay eggs dry I really think they sat under heat lamp as slow service from waitress. Pancakes good, but I ordered one and she brought 2. The ice tea sucked and waitress agree she said yes it seemed sour. Just clean the pot. Hash browns not crispy but soft. Overall food a 3 service a 2.5. I hate not to give a higher grade but our server seemed to feel we got what we got. It was a Friday morning and not that busy my pancake was very yummy vanilla and fluffy, I like just butter no syrup. They do not have real butter, but a butter type. Would be amazing with real butter.

The Texas Omelet with hash browns and jalapeños

Exceptional customer service. Our waiter was Florida. He told us that his real name is very difficult to pronounce and people just called him Florida. He was one of the best servers I've ever had in a long time. He was attentive and made us feel special. Florida told us many funny jokes and lit up the room with his positive attitude. He truly loved his job and it showed with the service we received. I got the Texas Omelet with hash browns and a big pancake. They filled the middle of the omelet to the max with bacon, sausage and ham. I added jalapeños and they didn't hold back with them either. I only have one negative thing concerning the omelet. I wish that the omelet had more of a balanced ratio when it came to the eggs and the meat. The hash browns were good but I really enjoyed the pancake. I ate all of the pancake and I took half of the omelet home. The food was worth a four out of five. The great customer service from Florida pushed it to a five out of five. Please go to this Jim's and hopefully you will get Florida as your server. You will be in for a great time. We will be back there again.

We chopped up her silver dollar pancakes, good but should have included at least one egg

Mostly ok, nothing great. I don't think I can recommend this place over a Denny's or ihop, definitely not over a Waffle House. My wife was craving a monte Cristo and we couldn't decide where to eat, this place seemed like an old school diner so we stopped by. Turns out they don't have a monte cristo option, she for a fiesta omelette I think it's called, tons and tons of crushed tomato on top, way too much. They call this salsa. My daughter had the silver dollar pancakes which were good, but this order come with bacon but no eggs. Kind of weak. My son liked his chicken fingers. I felt extra hungry so I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, it was cooked perfectly. Often my eggs over medium are not cooked right. The portion was good, but the flavor was missing, even the gravy and biscuits were very very bland. The hash browns were basically mashed potatoes. I doused everything in cholula and still the blandest chicken fried steak with gravy I've ever had. Save some money and time go to an ihop it just as good or better. The waitress while nice, never refilled our water, didn't give my kids straws and the place wasn't too busy. I made change at the counter for my kids to get something from the quarter machine, I paid my tab and tipped the waitress (about 20%). A few minutes later she meets us at the door and thinks we either stiffed her the tip or someone took it off the table, had to remind her I gave her cash. Very awkward.

Ordered a cheeseburger & fries to go! Fries were a little bit soggy. I asked for fried onions but they didn't put any on, it wasn't bad for $7.50 meal

If Kabayan Kusina is any indication of what we will experience, coming back home might be purposefully delayed. Located in a shopping center across from the HEB on De Zavala, nearly hidden, is a restaurant waiting to treat your taste buds to a wonderful meal. The Sisig, pork belly, is so flavorful that it in itself is worth a repeat visit. Wifey added the Chicken Adobe, upgraded the white rice to garlic rice and added lumpia as a side dish. Push all 3 to the middle and let the festivities begin. The chicken is tender, sauce is tasty, and the mixture of all 3 just makes us excited about our upcoming trip. Just before you push yourself away from the table, be sure to ask if they have the Ube Crème Brûlée Cake. It's only available on the weekends and it goes fast. It's a purple mousse cake with a caramelized top. Light, so fun to eat, and it made us spoon fight to the final piece. I had thoughts of licking the plate afterwards, but I was on my best behavior. To sum it up and In the words of the Filipinos...Petmala! The inside tables are packed together so go early and get a seat. We tried the Whiskey-Soy BBQ wings and the sauce was just delectable and the wings nicely-sized. We tried the garlic knots and they were savory and practically melted in your mouth. And we tried the pizza and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and it's well worth the wait. So where do we lose stars? The other consistency is that the service is terrible. Often times there's no one positioned anywhere near the restaurant and you have to go find someone to get the ball rolling (i.e. drinks, silverware, menus). The first time, they explained that they had just opened and a lot of the staff had walked out - ok fine. The second time, there was no staff except the bar tenders so the bartender was out server and she was at the bar 90% of the time and at our table to take orders, drop off food and drop off the check -- other than that we didn't see her. No refills. No follow-up after the food was dropped off to see if everything looked and tasted okay, etc. My friend didn't even want to tip the server, but we've both worked in food services so after some back and forward exchange I was able to convince her to leave a decent amount. Lastly, I wish there was some consistency across the different restaurants inside of Embassy locations. I frequent the one over on the other side of town frequently and that one has a rewards program for frequent diners, yet that rewards program is only valid at that location, which seems weird. If every Embassy has a restaurant, why not just have a universal Embassy Diner's Club kind of thing, why is it that one location offers rewards and the others don't? Or maybe the solution is Hilton Honors club discounts -- I have that as well and if you're not staying in the hotel or trying to use the WiFi in the lobby it seems useless (which its worth noting in some locations even using this the WiFi doesn't connect because you can't get past the captive portal screen not loading).

My husband and I had been trying to eat at Bobby's Southern Kitchen for at least 2-3 years. Every time we'd stopped before, the wait was around 2 1/2 hours, and since we were always passing through on our way home to Houston, we never had enough time to stay. This time, we planned our morning around finally getting to eat here. We had spent the weekend in San Antonio and were driving to Dallas before heading home, so we made a point of arriving shortly after opening (a little after 8:00 a.m.). There was no wait, we were seated immediately, and our waitress was wonderful. I wish I could remember her name because she was friendly, attentive, and did everything she could. Our food came out quickly, probably within 15 minutes, but that's where things went downhill. The food wasn't hot. Mine was warm enough to eat, but my husband's breakfast was actually cold. His hash browns were cold, his sausage patties were cold, and since he's someone who really enjoys his food served hot, it immediately ruined the meal for him. We let our waitress know, and she came back to take only the hash browns from his plate. That surprised us because most restaurants would prepare a fresh order rather than reheating part of the original meal. When the hash browns came back, they still weren't hot enough, so unfortunately they didn't solve the problem. For me, the food itself actually had good flavor. I ordered the sausage biscuit with soft scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a side of grits. The biscuit was good, the eggs were cooked just the way I like them, and the grits were honestly one of the best parts of the meal. They were creamy, had a great consistency, and were well-seasoned with really good flavor. If everything had been served hotter, I honestly think I would have loved my breakfast. My husband ordered a simple breakfast with eggs over medium, toast, sausage patties, and hash browns. I don't necessarily think the food itself was bad I think serving it cold completely changed his experience. What makes this especially disappointing is that we arrived shortly after opening, so we expected everything to be fresh and piping hot. I honestly don't know what happened that morning, but after waiting years to finally try Bobby's, it just didn't live up to the anticipation. The service was excellent, the food had good flavor, and I truly wanted to love this place. I just can't overlook being served a breakfast that wasn't hot, especially first thing in the morning. I hope this was just an off day because I'd like to believe our experience wasn't the norm.

It's definitely a gluttonous meal, but I split it with my buddy and it was absolutely worth the calories and carbs. Every bite delivered exactly what I was hoping for. It's worth stopping by Bobbie's Southern Kitchen for the Morning Wrecker alone, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The service was great and it has that bustling diner feel.

We walked in without a reservation, and I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. The patio had a fun, upbeat atmosphere and was a great place to spend the evening. The drinks were generally very well made, once they were prepared correctly. The food, however, was just okay. I had the cheeseburger with an egg, and while it was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable. The standout was definitely the fries, especially paired with the spicy ketchup. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Since we were seated outside, it felt like our table was forgotten. We sat for at least 15 minutes without proper plates, napkins, or silverware and had to ask multiple times before everyone was taken care of. We never had enough water glasses for the entire table, drink service was slow throughout the meal, and at one point I walked to the bar myself because my Old Fashioned had been made with agave and was far too sweet. I also had to track down our server just to get the check. Overall, I appreciate that they accommodated a large walk-in party, and the atmosphere and drinks were enjoyable. However, the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service left us disappointed. I don't think I'd return, as it felt like our table was simply forgotten once we were seated outside.
