We got here early on Sunday morning and had no wait. By 9 am they were filling up fast. Our waitresses was quick to take and deliver our drink order. She even left us a pot of coffee. I had the morning wrecker. It's a split homemade biscuit with chicken fried steak, hash browns, and 2 eggs all topped with gravy and melted cheese on top. Went on a brunch date around 11:25am and we ended up having about a 56 minute wait. We waited outside on the patio and luckily there was a nice breeze. I ordered an iced vanilla coffee and the small chicken fried steak & eggs. I had my eggs over easy. For my sides I picked the seasoned farmhouse potatoes with onions and tomatoes and a biscuit. My chicken fried steak and eggs were delicious. I think my potatoes could have used a bit more seasoning. The biscuit was big, warm and tasty! I would come back to order biscuits to go. I'm glad I ordered the small portion because it was filling. I had half of my biscuit leftover. My boyfriend ordered a coffee and the smoked brisket & cheddar omelet. For his sides he got the hash browns and a grilled biscuit. The omelet was delicious and the grilled biscuit was okay to me. My boyfriend enjoyed all of his meal! Invest in some blinds!! I have gone 3 times in the past two months and it never fails that I get a table by the window. Once that sun starts rising and it's blinding your eyes it really ruins the experience. I did ask the last time to be seated somewhere else cause 3 consecutive times being blinded -I just didn't wanna do it. But I was told that was the only place we could be seated (a 4 seater and there were other tables available). Which seemed odd cause where would they sit the rest of the people behind us in line? They sat in all the empty tables not by the window is where they sat. Advice -be wary of where you are seated or take sunglasses to wear at your table. This past experience made me a little sour and unfortunately it over shadows all the good things about it. read more

I wish it tasted as good as it looked. I got the "Big Ol' French Toast Breakfast", and upgraded my French toast to the "Peach Cobbler French Toast". The hashbrowns were bad. The ham slice was greasy. The eggs were fine. The Peach Cobbler French toast was soggy.. there was just too much on top of it, it absorbed all of the moisture? It was visually pretty, but lacked flavor and was all one texture, mush. The Blueberry Pancakes were underwhelming. The pancakes taste like they need vanilla extract, maybe it's about personal preference, but I like my pancakes more sweet.. syrup didn't help, I'm not sure why. The hot chocolate was good! And I think they make their own whipped cream, we all enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is cute. While our waitress was friendly, the other staff seemed a bit dismissive. I've been seeing Bobbie's Southern Kitchen for a couple of weeks, and decided to finally try it out. This is a spot that replaced the old magnolia pancake house. We waited about about 25 minutes before getting seated. This place is very clean, open with a lot of light. Service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive without being intrusive and quick. The food was pretty good. I ordered the traditional breakfast which comes with a side and bread of your choice. I had refried beans and a biscuit. The food was good. And the price for this meal was pretty reasonable. My friend ordered the grilled biscuits, which she shared with me. They do charge an additional $.99 for grilling them. I enjoyed their food, atmosphere and service. I have every intention of coming back to Bobbie's Southern Kitchen, and trying some of their other southern food. read more

I'm writing this review after two visits. The first visit was on a Sunday around 1030 and the wait wasn't out of the normal for that time of day but the food did take a while to get to us and it was just a small table of three. All the food was warm and delicious so we decided let's return the following week. We checked in with two people in front of me and then we waited....and waited....and waited....finally I went up to the host stand and was told (after telling them my link they text me says we are already seated) that the system "is lying" and don't listen to that and I'll be called shortly so we kept waiting and waiting then I went back up to the host stand and they said i had 7-8 people in front of me. I then figured out the host sat another table under my name and I was told "sorry" then a blank stare and nothing else to rectify the mistake...I was already having a crappy morning so we just left and went to ihop. Stopped in for a working lunch this week. The service was super nice and we were seated immediately. The coffee was a little weak but a good flavor. The lunch plates are enormous. I had the Lone Star Patty Melt ... two patties, onions, lots of cheese, spicy mayo .. it was a mess but it was sooo good. Looked on Yelp for waffle options near me. And Bobbie's was listed amidst a couple of other options. I decided to go in and pick up a couple of orders first my husband and I. Once I got home and opened the bag,y husband and I were pleasantly surprised at all the food that came with waffle, eggs & bacon plate. I substituted sausage for bacon and we ordered sliced tomatoes as. Side & grits with cheese. The food was Amazing! The only downside was it was not very warm at all which was a wee bit disappointing seeing as you want to eat once you get it home not re-warm (we live 5 minutes away) waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage & grits in 4 different sessions in a microwave. But once re-warmed it was pretty darn Fabulous! Note: This is Treat if you watch your calories... save them only for this meal!!! I'm Happy I did and do not Regret it! We decided to eat breakfast here yesterday and we have had some great service and time before. I put our name on the waitlist online which is a wonderful tool to use and we had a few people ahead of us. It was a table of five and it was placed around 8:23. We were meeting at 8:30. We arrive a few minutes before the rest of our party and check in with the hostess, it's understandable in a busy restaurant that you have to wait for your party before you are sat. This place was not busy at 8:30 this morning. Not an issue just annoying. We are sat at a table that was dirty. It had multiple "leftovers" from the previous table. Hash browns, and something that was burned and left on the table. I asked for a napkin to clean off the table because the hostesss didn't see it. After we are sat we received prompt service from the waiter, quickly we got our drinks in, just waters for the table while we checked out the menu. When he came back with our drinks we decided to order. He was through putting in our order asking the right questions that we didn't answer ourselves while ordering. What type of bread did we want? How do we want our eggs. We talked amongst ourselves and the food was delivered, my hash was delicious just the eggs weren't over medium but more over easy, very liquid yolks. The waiter again was quick and asked if we needed anything else, we asked for ketchup and salsa, he very knowledgeably brought out butter with our food. Extras delivered, the food was tasty. And we enjoyed it. The issue was no refills on drinks, and he was sat with a large table which left him inattentive to his other tables. Not an issue, just an observation. Someone came and took some plates and asked if we needed anything we got some boxes for to go and paid up. Wasn't what we were used to, so it left a sore spot for us. Don't pass up your opportunity on this restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server did an excellent job on staying on top of things and I feel like this day and age that's rare to find. We had our five-month-old baby with us and they accommodated our seating very well so that we fit comfortably within a spot without having to feel crammed. It just overall was a nice experience and will definitely be back. For our family of three our bill came out to about 50$ with two coffees for our drinks. I can't believe I haven't rated this place before! We have been a handful of times now and have tried a few different things, and everything is delicious. The service has also always been great. We love to have a weekend breakfast here. I always want to order something different but usually end up ordered the banana pecan pancakes. They are so good. There is usually a wait especially on the weekends, but we check in online before we leave so we don't really have to wait that long once we get there. read more

The front service management and there app that you are pulled to use. Waited over an hour checked in on the app that you are pulled to use and when you check in apparently even after receiving confirmation that your on the wait list it does not work. Spoke with the hostess she stated that we weren't on the wait list and that she could add us. My wife stated we weren't not going to wait over an hour once again when we just had they said sorry and then removed us from the list that were not on... I have called and asked to speak with a manager and she stated the app doesn't work and that people are waiting for over two hours because it's Mother's Day. As if I do not know we were there for my wife. She just was very unprofessional and did not seem to care what so ever. Came on a Friday for lunch on a holiday. The wait time was about 40 minutes and I joined the online waitlist. I noticed my name kept popping off and when I went to check-in, I was told that their system drops people due to inactivity but if I come in, they will accommodate my group quickly. Therefore, the total wait for a 11:30am table was about 45-50 min. We were seated quickly and had our order taken with friendly customer service. They did not rush us even though we took some time to finalize our order. The waitress was very friendly as was the person delivering our food. They came by at least 4 times to refill coffee and check on us. The food was delicious with excellent portion sizes and cooked to perfection. The clucker I ate was perfectly soft biscuits, excellent egg made exactly as asked and with the right temperature and presentation. I was extremely impressed with the food. The prices are between $10-20 depending on your order. The average is about $15. They take your bill at the table and also can split it easily using their electronic device. I felt well taken care of and enjoyed the place immensely. As some of you may know, this restaurant location used to be another breakfast place. A group of us ladies from Community Bible Church planned to meet for brunch today. Thankfully, Ana F. set aside the conference room @bobbiessouthernkitchen for us. There were 9 of us and had plenty of room. The room could probably fit 15 people. You can reserve the room for $100 for 2 hours. This was the first visit for most of the ladies. I had The Texas Omelette, which has sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and topped with sliced avocado. It came with a side (I chose hash brown) and bread (I chose toast). Letty M. had the Farm House Breakfast with 3 eggs, bacon, hash brown, and blueberry pancake. Letty F. had the Brisket Chilaquiles. Joanne and Debbie had the Buttery Belle (Biscuit Sandwich). All the food was delicious as expected. Kelly did a great job with caring for our large group. She even had a section in the main area so she was busy. I haven't visited for the dinner service yet but I imagine it would be fantastic as well. If you haven't checked them out, stop by soon. I really enjoyed my breakfast as it was really tasty. Everything we ate was good. The only problem was that I ordered the chicken fried chicken breakfast with 2 poached eggs.. and received steak with scrambled eggs. Then I told my server she took the meat away and left the rest with me which was odd since I had to eat my meal separately. When the eggs came it was soaking on alot of water which was gross to put over my food But the chicken was bomb. I definitely will be back but didn't enjoy that system read more

First time for dinner at Bobbie's. Outstanding food, friendly and efficient service, and casual ambience as usual. We started with potato bombs - delightful loaded mashed potatoes in a lightly breaded crust. We enjoyed ours with blue cheese dressing. I had the fried chicken dinner and it was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. My husband had the bourbon-glazed meatloaf, he gave it 2 thumbs up. The mashed potatoes are real and the cream gravy is just like grandma's. The side salad had fresh field greens and tomatoes. Josh took care of us and kept us updated and our tea glasses filled. The on-duty manager checked on us twice and I watched him help deliver meals and clear tables. Last week, I attended a party at a local restaurant where one of the Hors d'oeuvres was a mini portion of chicken and waffles. I had never tried that before. Infact, the thought of it kind of repulsed me. Then, I tasted it and was blown away! Last night, my wife selected Bobby's Southern Kitchen as the place where she, our son, and I would go for lunch today to celebrate her birthday. I was thrilled to see chicken and waffles on the menu. I knew that would be my choice and skipped breakfast to feel a little less guilty about indulging in such a decadent lunch. Decadence could have been the theme for our food selections. As planned, I ordered the chicken and waffles. That was described as "Two Liege Belgian pearl sugar waffles topped with two fried chicken tenders." I asked for country gravy and syrup on the side. Even though the waffles had liege sugar balls baked in, I wanted the sogginess of syrup. Let me tell you it was amazing. I really loved the crispiness that the sugar gave. All the flavors mixed together were wonderful. I only ate one of the waffles and brought the rest home for supper, which was equally amazing warmed up in the microwave. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak. My first impression was that it was humongous. Of course I know that you can pound a tiny chunk of meat to get it that big. But, the meat still has to taste good and be cooked right. She liked it and said it was delicious. I will add that the gravy that they gave both of us was fantastic. Just the right thickness and pepper. Our son ordered the Widowmaker. It is two hamburger patties sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches! I told him he better hope it was on Texas toast, or it would be six inches high. Damned it it wasn't on Texas toast. It looked amazing, as you can tell by looking at the photos. This restaurant was very pleasant. Our server, Ms. Dee M., was one of those dream servers. Super knowledgeable about the menu and nice enough to be your mom. She made us feel so welcome that I felt I was over to her house for dinner. That plus the great food made this a terrific dining experience. We have to go back. The menu is phenomenal. Great service and food is always on point. Today we had the biscuit SOS combo and the French toast special. I must say, I have enjoyed each menu item I've had. Thankful to the kitchen staff as some places fail to make the eggs as requested (I prefer over medium). We asked for our hash browns to be crispy and for their house salsa *Chefs Kiss! Bobbie's was nice. It wasn't too noisy, quiet and the service was good. They're cooking from scratch so it did take a little longer, but that was just time to enjoy the environment and to talk. The food portions are large and way more than any one person should eat. Plan to share or to take something home. The chicken was good, waffles were fresh, but some things fell flat. Over 50 years in San Antonio Bobbie's is an institution. Featuring down home southern breakfast and key southern dishes, they have every Texans tastbuds wired! The Texas Trio is a wow as a starter. The onion rings have the perfect black pepper spice. The fried pickle spears are solid and the fried okra is wow. Side salads are fresh!! Hubby got the Home Wrecker - see pic. He says it is America on a plate! It is trending on TikTok. I got the chicken fried steak lunch size with salad and mash. The lunch size is truly huge. And It's their specialty. So how was it? Just wow!!! I can not think of a born raised here Texan that I know of who would not like this fare. They got omelets (huge), Benies, and they have burgers, sandwiches, and enchiladas, and MORE!! We were looking to try something new and had picked a place that we had seen a lot of good news about. On driving up, the place was so packed that we decided to go elsewhere. Looking on Yelp, we found this place was just around the corner, had good reviews, and was another place that we had on our "try' list. Arriving at Bobbie's, we found the parking lot was nearly completely full. However, we did find a spot and took it. We walked in the entrance and found a small line already waiting. Quickly, we were able to get our name on the waiting list, and they took my phone number and said they would text when our table was ready. It was such a beautiful day that we decided to wait outside. I'm glad we did as they had a lunch special menu up for everyone to see. It shows what is the special of the day for each day, and seeing what was on for Tuesday, we made up our minds on the spot. In 5 to 10 minutes, my text arrived, and we walked back in. We were met immediately and taken to our table. A young lady brought us our menus and took our drink orders. She came back quickly, asked if we had any questions, and promptly took our orders. Food came out quickly, was piping hot, and just as we had ordered. For some reason, I immediately took a bite of the green beans. They were so good and reminded me of my grandmother's country cooking. They were loaded with bacon and tomatoes and tasted like they had just been harvested from a local garden. The entree was loaded with flavor, and we were so happy that we got it. These lunch specials were just right, not too much to eat, but plenty enough to keep you from being hungry before dinner:) Will I return? Definitely. i REALLY want to love this place, its obvious by a lot of reviews a lot of people do, but... i dont love it i do love the variety on the menu, you can pretty much build a breakfast plate the way you want it. but i like HOT food, and on 2 out of 3 visits the majority of the food has been lukewarm at best. it seems like - and guessing and going by taste - that they preprep a lot of the food. items i've ordered with temp problems: french toast, pancakes, waffles, grits and sausage patties. all had a "i've been sitting around waiting for someone to order me" taste. one visit, hubbie sent back sausage twice because they were downright COLD, and he got 2 more orders of COLD sausages. i get it, they probably get very busy sometimes (although parking lot was pretty empty on all 3 visits) maybe you want to prep to keep on top of it. but if you are NOT busy, food sits and gets cold. i feel like i'm going to grama's house. everything is tasty, but she cooked it at 6am and its been sitting there on the "warm" stove until i get up and eat at 8. service has always been great and no complaints with taste - just temp. so im guessing this is "how they do it". and since that doesnt line up with what im looking for, bobbies is not for me. read more

Pleasantly surprised by the breadth of their menu. I actually joked with my server I wish he hadn't told me they do breakfast all day! That literally made my choices ten times harder. So, don't let the 3-start review deter you here, I'm definitely going back because of that menu! I DEFINITELY have more to try! I opted for the half portion of the chicken fried steak! I mean, you have to right? It's a southern kitchen? Of course I had to try a "staple". Overall: "Eh". The CFS was decent, but I could have used some more flavor (even considering the gravy). The mash potatoes disappointed. They were served lukewarm...borderline cool...and had hard, even colder lumps on bottom. The place is nice, reminds me of the southern kitchen restaurants in Alabama or South Carolina (spent time in both states for school). They had decent, although perhaps sometimes cheesy decor. The waitress on that Sunday afternoon was frustrated that she was busy and she showed it. We did not receive the gravy on one of the chicken fried chicken but we're still charged for it . When we brought this up someone came up to us (supposed to be the manager) argued that she treated up the plate herself and DID see gravy on it. I mean why would we lie about 2.99 gravy. It's the point of it. Why would we pay for something that was supposed to come with the plate. Awful management , the server lady was weeding and didn't know how to communicate that in a calm manner. Been here several times and it is consistently great! The chicken fried chicken is always juicy and seasoned to perfection. The waffles are delicious and have this nice slight crunchy texture which I found pleasant. Our server was Bobbie , she was sweet, patient and hospitable. Service is always great, which is surprising considering how busy they always are. I'd recommend joining their waitlist before coming, especially on weekends. I do wish they had more locations. Probably the best chicken fried steak in town! The breading was light and didn't slide off like others I have had. The meat was tender and savory. You could cut it with your fork. This was the smaller portion. We asked our waitress how big the full size was and she replied that it would fill the plate! The biscuit was the size of a caramel roll! Not for the faint hearted. No shortage of carbs or calories here and seeing the very large folks visiting this restaurant, one understands why this a a fan favorite for these folks. Got the "small" chicken fried steak and it was huge. A patron seated next to me later got the large one and it was three times the size. My friend got the catfish and fried okra.
