Well, we had an interesting experience here. Everything was nice at first. The hostess was nice, our waitress was as well and the hibachi chef was fun. Then, things started going downhill from there. I had ordered a Philadelphia roll that I didn't like. So, I explained to the waitress that I didn't like it and would like to get something different instead. She looked confused, as though she had never heard of such. I told her that she could take the plate away because I didn't like it, but she was very apprehensive to take it - almost as though she would be punished. She finally took it and walked away. About 5 minutes later, another guy comes by and tries to bring it back out to me. "I sent it back because I didn't like it, but I have already ordered a Tornado Roll instead.", I told him. "Well, I can't send it back because they already made it", he said. "Ok, but I'm not going to eat it.", I replied. After a few seconds of awkward silence, he walked away. We went ahead and ordered a kids chicken and rice off the menu for $4, but the waitress told us that since it was hibachi, we HAD to order off of that menu so our 2yr old's $4 rice plate just became an $8 rice plate. Later that night, I went to get up from my seat when a burr on the chair caught and ripped my shirt. Someone had broken the chair to where there was a small metal piece sticking out, but instead of replacing or fixing the chair, they left it. Now I was getting really upset - then they brought out our bill. They were forcing me to pay for that Philadelphia roll. Let me just say that I worked in a restaurant for almost 10 years. If a customer didn't like their item, we never said "Well, they made it so you have to pay for it." That's absurd! We would simply say "Ok, what would you like to try instead?" and then we'd take it off their bill because we knew that it was more important to make that customer happy so they would keep coming back. This is clearly not how the employees at Jinbeh operate. It's sad to see a company so worried about a whopping $7.50 sushi roll, that they lose sight of the bigger picture and that is to create a great experience for their customers so that will want to come back over and over. Luckily, the manager Alfredo was brought by to talk with us and he was very nice and accommodating. He took off the Philadelphia roll and a little more for my ripped shirt. However, as we were standing there at the front, paying for our food, the hostess was even complaining about how things were operating and told the manager that she was sick of all of it. So, clearly this place has some issues. All in all, it's just another hibachi place. Nothing really special. I'm sure there are plenty of other hibachi places you could go if you're really craving it. I wouldn't waste your time and money at this one. read more

Their food is really expensive. Like a lunch friend rice with an extra egg is $14. I'm talking expensive for the littlest amount of food. The guys at the front are never friendly and that's unfortunate because I'm a paying customer. They charge almost $1 for a side of Sirrachi sauce & another $1 for yum yum sauce. So basically nothing comes with your food... And to make matters worse, I wanted to add some broccoli to my food to get some nutrients in & its 4 DOLLARS FOR BROCCOLI IN THE FOOD, not even on the side. So they are basically expensive for no reason & I feel like there is way better hibachi out there for cheaper. Even the hibachi's in expensive neighborhoods are not even this expensive. I made a last minute Friday night reservation for Hibachi at 5:30 and they were very accommodating. I didn't realize Jinbeh was a Hibachi place as well as sushi - i wish I had known sooner! It was absolutely amazing. We both got the black ribeye angus steak which was cooked perfectly. The soup, salad, rice and vegetables were perfect as well. Ordered two beers and they came immediately. Awesome portions. I had a really wonderful date night and we will definitely be back. read more

$4 sushi rolls, my oh my!! I'd been to Jinbeh on a few random previous occasions with friends, but wasn't ever so wowed enough to come back on my own. From what I remember, the hibachi is about standard for what it is. I always end up spending over $20pp at the grill, and while the food is good, I'd prefer to spend that money on a private table for 2 without onion choochoo trains and such (bless their hearts). The restaurant is somewhat hidden on the corner of a dying shopping strip overlooking the lovely I-35. It's across the highway from lots of new restaurants and retail at Vista Ridge, which I'm sure has given them some competition. The decor is nothing special and felt a little run down compared to the newer Shoguns and such that have popped up nearby. It isn't dirty, just maybe in need of a face lift or new location. All of that being said, I recently revisited with a friend who goes there weekly for their sushi lunch specials (Sunday-Thursday)... And Oh. My. God. $4 select rolls and $2 nigiri sushi. My husband and I left happy and full with only a $19 bill... Hard to beat! Their "select rolls" still include a decent assortment to choose from, with my favorite being the spicy crawfish. Even if you typically only eat raw sushi, you really should give the crawfish a try. That spicy sauce they top it with is out of this world! Because I was visiting with regulars I got the royal treatment. Never thought I'd feel like a rock star at a sushi place, but we got spoiled up and down. Sam, the sushi chef, is AMAZING and goes out of his way to make special, custom rolls for you and is constantly handing you small samplers of new things to try. He even made me an off-menu desert roll with some sort of orange sherbert/sorbet in a dried mango roll..?! And they end it all off with the most preciously cut chilled orange to clear your palate. Yum! We went to Jin Beh this weekend because I'm still on the quest for my favorite Japanese steakhouse in Dallas and I might have found it! I called for a reservation Friday afternoon (for Friday night) and they were able to fit me in with no problems. We arrived and were seated and ordered relatively quickly. The soup and salad came out very fast (almost at the same time) and my veggie tempura followed soon after. The chef wasn't far behind - I suppose in retrospect this might have made me feel a little rushed but to me the soup and salad are really just things to keep me occupied until the real food starts happening so I didn't mind. I order filet and added chicken to it (love the ability to "Create your own combo"ish thing). The portions were huge. The fried rice was delicious - maybe the best I've had at a Japanese place. My filet was cooked perfectly and the chef added some teriyaki to my chicken when I asked (love that). They offer 2 dipping sauces - one is like a ginger sauce and the other is kind of a spicy mustard - they are both good but in their own way. I was far too full to have any dessert, but I will definitely be going back here again. read more

Love this food but they are doing NOTHING to protect their customers from COVID. They constantly violate the 6 feet distance between parties even though it has been brought to their attention by many of their customers. (Read other reviews) 50% capacity is not putting everybody on top of one another so they do not have to operator both large dining areas! When asked about the lack of concern for their customer's safety they were more concerned about putting as many people together (different parties) at one table then seating smaller groups. Irresponsible and should be shut down until Management puts the proper Covid safety requirements in place and trains the entire staff. read more

we stopped by this location by luck....wanted steak at salt grass but there was a 1.5hrs wait....are you serious???? ok I know we didn't make RSVP and it's the weekend but we had Sophie with us so we weren't going to wait 1.5-2hrs ... walking back to the car we saw Jinbeh!!! Hibachi place yay!!! steak time!!! as we walked in we were quickly greeted, and told there was a 35-45min wait....yikes ok it's the weekend and let the wait game begin as we sat down in the full bar/waiting area.....after about 10 mins of chatting / tv / phone playing and playing with Sophie they actually called us...we were happy b/c we are HUNGRY!!! .... FYI this place is FULL of kids!!!!! like 50% of customers we didn't know hibachi is a kids friendly or kids attraction place??? oh well our server took our drink order and food order then brought us our drinks and soup/salad....fairly quickly on refilling and cleaning and she was friendly. we got the filet minon and scallop ...and the filet minon and shrimp....yummy yum yum!!! Jinbeh is lucky - Lucky that there aren't many other hibachi restaurants nearby. Certainly, that must be the reason why their business is still thriving. My friends and I went to Jinbeh for lunch today and it was packed! We had to wait 15 minutes for open seats at one of the hibachi tables. Even hours after we first arrived, people continued to come in. Judging from the number of returning, loyal customers, you would think this was the best restaurant ever. Believe me, it's not. The waitress was nice enough - she greeted us and got us our drinks and kept them filled. However, after we put in our orders (3 of us put in sushi orders and 2 of us got hibachi orders), our experience went downhill. We asked for TWO separate sushi forms so that we could distinguish who wanted what sushi. This was done in vain because the sushi chefs completely disregarded our request and put all the sushi and rolls on the same plates! So we had a lot of swapping plates and reaching over each other to get to our rolls that were on the same plate as someone else's. RIDICULOUS. Also, after the dust had settled, we noticed we never got 2 of the rolls we ordered! Also, one of our friends ordered his steak rare in his hibachi order and told the chef when he wanted his steak off the grill. The chef, who up to this point had not said ONE word to us, ignored him and continued to cook it. When he finally took the steak off the grill and put it on his plate, the steak was medium well! UNACCEPTABLE. That's another thing you need to know about our experience. The hibachi chef, who is usually supposed to be most friendly and entertaining person in the restaurant, did NOT talk at all and never ONCE smiled. He rushed through the entire cooking process and did his entire routine (onion volcano, cracking the eggs, catching the shrimp tails in his hat) in total silence. UNBELIEVABLE. I complained to the manager and he thanked me for bringing it to his attention. In the end, he gave us 10% off our bill - which I didn't feel was compensation enough for such a terrible eating experience. I think a lot of people in this area are easily impressed because of the lack of alternatives, but I encourage everyone to drive out a little further next time and find a better hibachi/sushi restaurant! read more

We have been to every Hibachi restaurant within 20 miles of this place. Have been going here since 1998. If you aren't a veteran tell them you will get a great show especially if Jose is your chef. Yes I know Jose and Japanese. Trust me if you want great food he is the best. Now what sets this place apart from the other fifty Hibachi places. The mustard sauce. It is tangy flavorful. The fried rice (especially when Jose makes) is the best. Great mix of herbs garlic vegetables and egg. The filet is steakhouse quality. The salmon/scallops/shrimp/salmon always tastes fresh with no frozen fish taste. The ginger dressing is the best I have had but you do need to ask for extra. Last but not least this is a love hate thing. The beansprouts with garlic. Pour a little of the mustard sauce on. Yum. read more

I love Jinbeh! The servers are really friendly. It's like Benihana, just not as cracked out, with better decor. The restaurant is divided into three sections, the front, a bar, the middle, hibachi grills, the back, sushi bar! I always end up going to the back and sitting at the sushi bar. The sushi chefs are totally friendly and their prices are competitive, The sushi is pretty decent quality too. Since Dallas is so far from the ocean, fresh sushi is hard to find. My first visit was great!! I really enjoyed everything that they had there.. First visit was for lunch... I had something from the hibachi grill, but sat at the sushi bar b/c I didn't want the aroma to carry on to my clothes.. HUGE MISTAKE. Food would have been better at the grill, but it was my fault. Had the combination of steak, shrimp and calamari.. everything was delicious. Their green tea is awesome. Not too strong.. Second visit was for Valentines.. They were packed and my bf and I just wanted something simple since we didn't plan anything. So it was more like an in and out type of thing. Anyhow, we were at the sushi bar, again, and that was fine. Food was okay this time, but it was understandable, they were super busy!! The waitress was very nice that she had given us chocolate cake as a courtesy, even though we had ordered dessert. My overall experiences at this place has been very pleasant, and I'm not too much of a sushi/hibachi fan either. I believe anything on the menu is great. great for group outings or special occasions. We made reservations for 6pm on a Sunday, decided on cali rolls for an appetizer, sesame chicken & teriyaki steak (medium rare) for dinner. The rolls were quite average and what you'd expect but still delicious. With the meal you get a cup of soup which is comparable to a light chicken broth with thin slices of fresh mushrooms and chives. Next was our salad that came with a japanese ginger based dressing and iceberg lettuce, which was alright but nothing special. Our chef was very friendly and kept the table entertained with his fancy and somewhat funny delivery. He made us a huge plate of fried rice and some DE-LICIOUS shrimp at no expense. Normally I'm not big on seafood but this was some of the best shrimp I have ever had. My teriyaki steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was soft, not chewy. The veggies were also grilled to perfection with onions, zuccini, mushrooms and bean sprouts. Overall this restaurant won us over on the atmosphere, presentation & food itself. A nice open parking lot, friendly staff, and amazing filet and hibachi. I have visited this location once, and only had the hibachi but was happy I did. The hibachi is some of the best I have had in the Dallas area. My brother got the fried rice and filet, done medium, and I got the chicken with fried rice. Both came with vegetables and rice, so much that I couldn't finish it all. The waitress came by every few minutes with more water and promptly took our soup and salad that comes with every meal. Came here for lunch with my coworkers. They picked this place. It's in an odd location. Located next to a David's Bridal and a Garden Ridge. Yeah a weird place for this local chain restaurant. As you enter; the decor is similar to the zounds of different hibachi restaurants out there. It isn't anything unique. We decided to get seated in the hibachi section. With lunch they offer specials on their food. The lunch offerings are all around 10 bucks a person and come with a soup and salad. The chef that cooked in front of us was pretty friendly and quick. The chef was pretty adept at handling knifes and the metal spatula. What he lacked was enthusiasm. He seemed very tired. I wouldn't blame him. Nothing is probably new or exciting anymore. Neither was i. The soup and salad were not too bad. Often i have bad experiences with bagged salad at these places. It was bagged salad; as you can tell but it was the nicer kind. The soup lacked miso. It looked like a consomme. It was probably made of a chicken bullion cube. It was very clean tasting; as it lacked fat but tasted purely like broth. It lacked miso. Minus points there. I ordered the teriyaki steak. The steak wasn't cooked the way as i asked. It ended up beinga medium. It was pretty tender and was double cooked in butter. The vegetables was probably the best part. They're very generous with the vegetables (and butter). In fact theres a stack of butter that's shaped like a large vertically placed toilet paper roll with each chef with varying degrees of heights. Overall i'd probably visit it again. I wouldn't highly recommend it to another friend though. It's good but not great. 3 1/2 stars. I rounded up for all the butter they put on the grill that made the food tasty. read more

We defaulted here when both Olive Garden and Saltgrass had outrageous lines out their respective doors. It was a rough start when it took five minutes to be served a beer in a mostly empty bar. I was asked if I wanted a cold glass, at which point the bartender returned with unrefrigerated glasses to refill her stock and gave me one. We were seated at a hibachi grill next to a trailer park double date featuring tattoos exposed by cutoff sleeves and a bare midriff. The restroom was pretty gross. When the food came out though, it was pretty strong. The albacore roll in particular was excellent, and I would order the spicy salmon sushi and teriyaki steak again in the event my first and second choices were booked for an hour each. read more

Jinbeh has really good sushi and very good hibachi. The Seafood Gratin dish in the sushi bar is too die for! It's a big shell with a creamy mix of seafood and then they light it on fire (you can request they don't light it, I do). My favorite sushi roll is the Super Mario roll, and I get it with rooster sauce on top because it by itself is very sweet and yummy, but I like it hot. Everything they serve is very fresh, and the waitstaff is very nice. Note: They recently went up on their domestic beer prices to like $4.50 per bottle, so if you like beer with your meal, you may need to go somewhere else. They did, however, go down on their Taku sake prices, which makes me happy because I don't drink beer, and LOVE Taku. read more

This is a great place for any occasion. Great pricing and delicious food. I got the hibachi salmon for $16.95 and we shared a sushi roll.. Flaming Mango - Yummy times ten! Its missing a star, only for cosmetic reasons. The chefs didnt really do any cool tricks, just the basics and no crazy knife skills. Our chef, at least, talked to us, told lame jokes and flung scrambled eggs in our mouths... but at other tables, the chef didnt seem to talk at all. No hot towels, or chop sticks... (I had to request mine) So, to me, it seemed more American, I guess... some may prefer this.. I like the whole experience. You cant really argue with great food. Im totally going back for lunch. Teriyaki steak was my favorite part of the lunch combo. I also enjoyed the scallops and ginger dressing (I don't like all ginger dressings as they have no soul, but this one was definitely yummy). I wanted to try a sushi restaurant in Lewisville and I read on Yelp! that they had good lunch specials/rolls here, so we decided to give it a try while we were in town. What a mistake. First off, the service was horrible. It took the waitress a good amount of time to even acknowledge that we had sat down. Then another chunk of time to get our drink order. Then what felt like forever to get our order. When I asked about the lunch specials/rolls she all but scoffed in my face and said they didn't have that. We ordered four rolls, and each one came out by itself at a snail's pace. What was going to be a quick lunch ended up taking for-ev-er. And the sushi itself? Not great. The fish didn't taste fresh. And for some reason beyond my realm of comprehension, the chef decided to decorate EVERY plate with a spicy mayo and sriracha border. I think they liked the colors because those sauces do not go with every sushi combination. We had the Firecracker, Sunrise Roll, Dragon Roll and Jinbeh Special Roll. They all pretty much tasted exactly the same. Nothing special and definitely not worth the price. The location should have set off a bell, but hopefully this helps others from out of town to make the same mistake I did. read more

My wife and I love getting separate items (steak, shrimp, scallops etc) and usually end up gifting a couple pieces to one another because the grass is always greener on the otherside. Of course there were tons of loud kids but we couldn't do much about that and the food was great so I quickly forgot about my headache from the screaming children. Entertainment was good, everyone was pleasant, and the food was great. Strange thing, they did have a board special of Dinner for two that was $5 more then two dinners for one off the regular menu, and the waitstaff couldn't (language gap maybe) explain what you get for the extra money. Told Mgr about both - his response "well it states on menu (in fine print) rice is extra & since I waited until to ask about where my "to go box" was when we were ready to leave that is wasn't there fault. I about lost it & asked to be reimbursed for my meal. His response, I will NOT do that, but will make & give u HALF an entree since u had already eaten half of it (which I Most Certainly did NOT!) Jinbeh has become Jin-"meh". The good: There is plenty of parking around this restaurant (in a dying shopping strip that is desperate for rehab). The seafood and veggies were delicious and tender (see note about fried rice below). Water refills came quickly for my wife and I (but not the rest of our family) because of a separate waitress for our table (again, see below). The not-so-good: The service was severely lacking. We made a reservation for 6:30 and we were finally seated about 15 minutes later. While waiting, our group of 12 was asked to cram into a tiny front room by their bar with another group of 16 people. Then, we get to our table. All but two people fit at a cooktop, so my wife and I we're forced to sit with another family while the rest of our family enjoyed socializing. Interestingly, we saw parties of 6 make up whole tables. So, we ideally could've been split 6 and 6. We were forced to pay 18% gratuity, even though the two of us served ourselves. The cook for our family couldn't reach around the cook for the other family at our table and kept asking us to bring our plates to him. For the price, this was a ridiculous request. Usually, we're understanding, but this was poorly thought out. We paid the pre-charged gratuity. Even more, our families cook was clearly last skilled with his presentation and English speaking skills than the cook at our separate table. The fried rice was flavorless -- perhaps coming from an Asian family has set higher standards? Sadly, this will be our last time at the Lewisville Jinbeh. We will give the Irving and Frisco locations another chance. read more

Went here for the first time for my birthday lunch. This seemed to be the only place that offered hibachi during lunch, so my family and I just had to give it a shot! Looked janky on the outside but inside, it was nice. We were immediately seated. It was pretty hot in the room but that's understandable. We had two waiters, one who was very friendly and the other who seemed to not want to be there at all. We ordered smoked salmon sushi and avocado sushi roll as our appetizer. It wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't bad,either. Once our chef came to cook for us, we got excited, but there wasn't much showmanship in his cooking. He made a fire three times and used a 'fireman' to extinguish the fires, which got a laugh out of us. He seemed kind of bored. It was still fun to watch him cook. The food was a little salty and pretty simple, but it was good. The portions were perfect. The girl who seated us was super friendly. We may be coming back again just because of her. This location has always been our favorite. We relocated and haven't been in a while. Now the food is overly salty and otherwise flavorless. They try to squeeze as many people at a table as possible, not caring at all about social distancing. Also, the manager was by far the absolute rudest person I have even encountered. We had a member of our party running late, we sat down and ordered for him, nothing was delayed by him. The manager told us we would need to get up and wait until our party was complete, after we were already seated. Then he told us later that he should have refused service to us. We had 6 people in our party and the tables hold 7. Two on each side and three along the back. He was rude and tried to sit 2 additional people at our table. I have never experienced such a lack of customer service, especially from a "manager". Not only that, just a complete lack of respect for another person. Sat at the sushi bar on a Saturday evening at about 8:30 due to the hibachi section full with a 45 min wait. The food was great, the service was a little slow, but I think because the Restaurant was busy. The wait staff in the sushi bar area looked to be a little short staffed. Besides that, the food was excellent, it is located in an area where you would not think to look for a restaurant of that nature. Because I also work in the customer service field, I tend to be more critical when judging a facility/product and how it relates with timely service.
