I don't know much about cars but I do know a lot of places will try to upsell you on things you don't need, especially if you blatantly tell them you don't know what you're doing. The guy was transparent with me about my oil change, let me know that the cheapest option was just as good as the next one up (for my particular make & model & mileage) & he even gave me a discount on top of that. I tried to give him $10 for great service, he refused the tip, then proceeded to offer me a free car wash... I was like does somebody know me here?? Hahaha I paid for my car wash before he could offer though, so they gave me a free detail package. 10/10 recommend. I haven't stopped talking about how awesome the staff was. read more

Got a 50% off coupon for the Take 5 oil change. I decided to give them a try. Well, they are not quick. I waited 20 minutes to get into a bay. Once there I assumed things would move along. Nope. I sat in my car for another 25 minutes. They asked me for the mileage and that was it. After a couple of false starts they drained the oil and I saw them take the new filter under the car. Next thing they are adding oil without any discussion on which oil I wanted. The older employee said that they do not use the blended synthetic, only the full synthetic. They offer a couple of grades of oil but l I got the premium oil for a 10 year old car with 129000 miles. He gave me an explanation that take 5 would not warranty the blended synthetic. Mentioned having to sign a waiver. A discussion would have been appropriate. Upon reviewing the service check list they reported the air filters and cabin filters were "clean" They did not check the air filters. Tire pressure was not checked. They added a squirt of water to the washer fluid. No other fluids were checked. They washed the windshield 1 1/2 times but failed to wipe off the excess water. Total time in oil change 45 minutes. Not the quickest oil change I ended up paying over $100.00 for sub par service and over priced premium oil. I feel like I got the bait and switch with the coupon. DO NOT LET THESE KIDS TOUCH YOUR VEHICLE PLEASE READ : I usually go to Take 5 Oil Change on Beach because it's convenient and right across the street from my house. Last week, I paid $120 for an oil change. During the service, they broke the oil dipstick on my Mazda, which also functions as the oil cap. The dipstick had to be specially ordered by Mazda in Orange Park, so I was forced to drive for three days with only the cap covering the opening. On Friday night, I drove an hour to Orange Park to pick up and pay for the replacement part they had broken. When I replaced the dipstick it was clear some oil had splashed out. Over the holiday weekend, my oil light started coming on and off randomly-- I just paid this Mazda off and I am a teacher so I am pretty diligent about maintenance and want to protect my engine. So today I went to Jiffy Lube on Baymeadows to have it inspected. The manager Rick siphoned out the little oil I had left. Nearly empty after having it "changed" 6 days ago and showed me that Take 5 DID NOT CHANGE MY OIL TO BEGIN WITH. They simply topped off dirty old oil and charged me full price, then sent me on my way with a broken car. I am now paying $280 out of pocket at Jiffy to clean the engine and actually perform the oil change that I already paid $120 for at Take-5 last week. What makes this even worse is that this shop appears to be run and managed by teenagers with little accountability or oversight. I previously left a review warning others, and when I edited it to tell the Take 5 corporate owner that the phone number listed in their automated responses just rings endlessly with no answer...my review mysteriously disappeared. At this point, I genuinely believe this place is a scam and should be avoided at all costs. Read between the lines of the glowing reviews (many of the names suspiciously match the same teenagers working in the shop). That alone should tell you something. The technicians are very nice, but they don't actually do oil changes. They just vacuum your oil and leave all the slush in there. I took my car for a routine oil change and a week later it started leaking. They claim they didn't touch anything. I had to take my car to the dealership and pay for all the repairs and when I called the corporate office they could care less that they caused my oil leak. For the price that I paid for synthetic oil I can take it to the dealership and get the same price. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

My engine had a mechanical failure, took it over to Mazda, and they said that my engine needs to be replaced to the fact that the engine oil was low and was not properly serviced. Came in with a fully functional car, luckily hours later I left with an almost fully functional car. I came in and got my oil changed and air filter replaced, drove 5 minutes and realized the car is knocking and stalling. Made it back and the staff was friendly but couldn't "help" understandably because there bosses don't pay for insurance to cover anything other than oil changes. It's just annoying because when they changed my oil the must've knocked dust onto my Maf sensor and there bosses wouldn't allow them to help me fix the issue. It was a simple as spraying cleaner on a sensor and they couldn't physically help or lend a screwdriver. Point being staff was nice, huge shout out to JEFF and TRENTON! They made the situation easier, especially Jeff. They explained to me what I had to do to fix my car which luckily worked. But they knocked dust onto my sensor and my car doesn't operate like how it used to, not as smooth. Unfortunately I wasn't offered anything as compensation, still charged for the oil change. That's in the bosses court though. Nice staff but terrible management. You can't pride yourself you do 450 cars a week and then tell me you can't help me fix my car that you messed up. Somehow after an oil change, I tell them my tire sensor is on, they said my sensor must have broke, and they weren't willing to fix it. When actually I had a flat tire, and the guy let me drive off onto the highway. I go back and the manager says he doesn't know what to say. Talk about being incompetent. I hate the idea of getting taken advantage of, but good news - that won't happen here. I've been visiting this location for more than a year now and really appreciate the speed and simplicity of having my car serviced here. You stay in your car and they give you direction on when to turn it off/on/reset gauges...etc. The staff is SO friendly and makes sure to keep you informed on what they're doing along the way. Anytime they make a recommendation to replace something they show you why it matters (they'll track mileage/ware each visit to know when things are due). I went to this establishment, and it restored my faith in humanity. The service techs on duty were outstanding to say the least. Leon who greeted me was professional and courteous. Jammyia performed the actual work as far as getting under the vehicle while Leon did the paperwork. Since I was a previous customer, my info was already saved. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. My vehicle oil change interval is every 5000 miles however, their system prints out 3000 miles, which is okay. I went to the Toyota dealer for an oil change which is a little cheaper, but it takes a few hours. The tradeoff is time which we know is precious. I was long overdue for an oil change. I usually get it changed at Walmart's auto center, however they're closed due to COVID-19. I decided to check out Take 5 and give them a chance. I arrived shortly after they opened at 7:00 AM. Only one other car was there in one of the three bays. Sam (I'm assuming the manager?) very thoroughly explained their service and how it works. I knew from others who've used Take 5 that you conveniently stay in your vehicle during the whole oil change. I liked the concept versus waiting in a lobby upwards of an hour for a simple maintenance. After selecting the full synthetic service, Sam and another guy proceeded to service my car. I was in and out in maybe 10-15 minutes, if that. I can appreciate the convenience and speed of service. However, the price of the service came as a sticker shock. A full synthetic change for vehicles with less than 75,000 miles is 79.99. I've never paid more than maybe 45.00 including tax for the same service at Walmart. I was able to download a $5 coupon via text from Take 5's website which helped a little. I also ended up getting my air filter replaced for about $25 based on Sam's recommendation. Overall, I spent a little over $100 plus tax. No wonder they don't list their prices online. It makes it impossible to shop around elsewhere. I don't know if the prices reflect the convenience of not having to leave your vehicle or what. I honestly have no complaints about the work nor the service team, as they were nice in explaining everything. I didn't even mind the upselling. They're open early and late, compared to other places so that's also a plus. I'm torn in knowing I can usually get an synthetic oil change for half the price, in which case I don't mind waiting in a lobby at Walmart. In a pinch (as was the case today), I can see visiting Take 5 again if I can't get a better deal somewhere else. I do see why so many others love their service though. read more

Once you arrive, they will come out and offer you a bottle of water while you wait for your car to be up next for service, an interesting service that was quite enjoyable. I was taken care of by Tristen, Mark, and Daniel. They took good care of me and my car, and being my first experience, they talked through and explained my options for oil and any other services while I was there. Ended up spending $110, but the overall experience was amazing, new oil that'll last me some months and a new air filter that I have been needing for some time. In comparison with other mechanics, they will only recommend certain extra services if needed but do not try and force anything on you, it'll be your choice. Would recommend this location anytime. Waited a good while then pulled in the bay and waited even longer. Other than that prices are a tad bit higher than other places like valvoline oil change but didn't try to sell me nothing I didn't need which is worth the money. Before they ask you what you're there for, they hand you a bottle of water for everyone in the car. They're quick, friendly and did I mention you stay in your car while they do the work? I have come to this Take5 before a few times but seems it keeps getting worse as far as service goes. 2 of the 3 bays were occupied but I noticed there were 4 people working so I knew it would be pretty quick. One of the employees had me pull into the unoccupied bay and raised the hood of my truck. I then waited 40 minutes while he walked to one of the other bays to help another employee. Then 3 of them ended up standing there in front of this car while the 4th one was changing the oil on it. Not once during this 40 minutes did the guy come back and say sorry about the wait, or even tell me if there was a problem that was holding him up. I patiently waited this entire 40 minutes and then discovered once he was done and I stopped to get gas, there were big gobs of oil smeared on the sides of my newly washed truck (up near the hood where they were leaning in to work on the oil change). I'm not talking about a small oil smear either. Looked as if he took both hands and smeared oil all over both sides of my truck! Not going back. Sure it's a fast oil change, but only after they get to your vehicle! Actually it was more like 10-15 minutes. So total of an hour to sit there that I didn't have to spare! read more
