Stopped here today after reading some reviews and Wow! What a pleasant surprise! I think I might have found a new local favorite! Chipolte style food line with so much tastier choices! I tried the J- Bouli bowl. I chose steak, rice with lentils, lentils and taboululah topped with grilled onion, feta and tzatziki. Man, was this delicious! Steak was perfect and everything tasted so fresh! The line tenant did a great job of walking us through the different options and was very welcoming. Pita, bowl or burrito with 3 different types of rice available. Choice of black beans or lentils, feta or shredded cheese and 3 types of meat ( or veggie). This place is such a great concept! JJ's pulls off the Mediterranean-as-fast-casual concept well. I ordered a bowl, and I enjoyed it. The employee making my bowl was patient with us and explained what things were, which I appreciated. I do have a complaint with JJ's, however. The grilled veggies were VERY oily. I don't mind greasy food, but wow. I ended up having an upset stomach over that. Holy tabouleh that's good! I visited JJ's for the first time on Friday evening, and was warmly greeted by two folks who I am assuming are the owners. They were very friendly and gave me a tour of the menu. I was excited to try their tabouleh, as I was informed it was made in-house. So good! It almost had a creamy flavor to it, I am assuming from using good olive oil. I plan to try the hummus next time. The place was quiet and almost empty when I got there, but by the time I left it was getting busy. The dining area is set up like a Chipotle, where you order at the counter and they build your meal in front of you. I like to think of it as a Mediterranean Chipotle. I ordered a rice bowl with tabouleh, chicken, veggies, and some tzatziki sauce. With my yelp check-in I received a free bag of pita chips, which were nice and crispy. I dipped them into my bowl and chowed down! The food was fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the flavors and left full and happy. The menu offers plenty of options so I cannot wait to come back and try something else. read more

The name of this place might be misleading to some. That's right, it's actually not an Alabama southern diner - but a nicely done Mediterranean meets Fresh-Mex Chipotle knock-off (a la...choose & point, throw it all in a bowl). Overall, it's pretty tasty comfort food for me...with room for just a little improvement. (But, lots of room to grow, add new options, feature limited-time only choices, etc.) Your choices include 3 kinds of rice ( I almost always go with the Mexican rice); black beans or lentils (I usually always go lentils); 3 meat varieties including steak, chicken, or pork (I'm pretty confident pork is the best), roasted peppers/onions or eggplant; pico de gallo or tabbouleh (always get the tabbouleh); feta or cheddar jack (I usually don't get cheese); and, either tzatziki or sour cream. You can also add hummus or guacamole, and the spicy habenero sauce or tomato salsa. Pita or tortillas chips are also available, as well as beer/wine. The pork can be a little greasy (especially combined with the lentils) but I like grease - besides, the pork is easily the best protein, as the chicken is a little plain for me, and the steak too well-done (or perhaps a better cut of meat would work here?). You do need to be careful for giant pieces of fat lingering in the pork waiting to trick you. Occasionally, the peppers & onions look a little scary but they taste good.... Service is quick and very friendly - except on the rare occasion that the crew is all standing in the back. I have been a handful of times now, and for the most part I enjoy it - but each trip back, I might be just a little less satisfied than the previous time. Their service is very personalized though - and they will accommodate you in sampling, as well as putting together whatever kind of bowl you want . A few of the items are a little inconsistent regarding the preparation...the tabbouleh was different a few times; the hummus tasted bland the second time I got it; and the pico de gallo can be pretty watery and lacking in flavor. When I popped in late once, I got the last bag of pita chips...ridiculously stale, so be careful as it gets closer to closing time. Overall - a great, local alternative to Chipotle or any other fill-your-bowl fast-casual spot - but I hope they start making smaller, more frequent batches of some of the products so they are consumed faster. My experiences have ranged from 5 stars to 3 stars - but I am definitely a fan, and will be back often! read more

Wow I was surprised by this place! I went in thinking it would be BBQ of some kind, but was totally wrong. Think of J.J.'s as Chipotle with a Mediterranean twist. I ordered the rice bowl with lentils (yummmm), tabbouleh, chicken, and feta. It was seriously delicious. I LOVE lentils and these were some of the best I've had. Their rice is awesome and they offer a mix of rice with lentils cooked into it. The tabbouleh is also outstanding. The chicken was fresh and juicy. I met the owner - he was very nice and friendly. The other girl that was working there was also great - she gave me samples of the tabbouleh and lentils. I also grabbed a bag of whole wheat pita chips. Fresh veggies and different rice and lentils to chose from. Their tabouli is the best I've had at any restaurant and their tzaziki and hummus are also amazing. They have fresh pita chips! This is the best alternative to Chipotle in town. My wife and I frequently go here, as it is right down the street and the food is really good. More importantly, the staff have always been incredibly friendly and nice to us. I typically get a Mexi bowl while my wife prefers to order the Mid East bowl. The ingredients are really fresh and tasty. It's awesome to be able to go to a place like this that isn't your run-of-the-mill TeX Mex. Instead, they feature a combo of Mexican and middle Eastern ingredients, and they go really well together. I believe the family that owns this business is from Lebanon, which explains the lentils, hummus, among others. JJ's Fusion Grill is a seriously delicious Mexican/ Lebanese restaurant. It kind of reminds me of chipotle but better because it allows you to combine two cuisines in one meal. It was interesting because I arrived with three friends and all our bowls had different flavors because of the ingredients we chose. I decided to order a spicy rice bowl as my base and chicken as my meat. As far as the toppings go, I tried to make it half Mexican and half Lebanese. In the end it didn't really matter because I ended up mixing everything together. Surprisingly, it tasted amazing all together. The bowl was very filling. I ended up saving 1/3 of it for a midnight snack. I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the customer service was excellent. There are a couple of other offerings on the menu, but honestly the J-bouli bowl is where it's at. Came here for lunch today, and I have to say JJ's deserves every one of its 5 stars. The mashup of Mediterranean and Mexican is both different and delicious, and there's a Chipotle-style ordering system. I got the bowl that comes with the rice and lentils and got half and half pork and chicken. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable, and you cal tell they care a lot about their food. And SWEET JESUS the pork is some of the best I've had - it melts in your mouth. Would definitely recommend trying the chimichurri sauce and/or the habanero sauce, they're both very good. There are many options for "bowls" on Postmates, but JJ's is just the best! I've ordered from them at least a dozen times! It's different than your typical bowl place, as they don't just use rice and beans - they use lentils (and I LOVE lentils!)! Delicious! For starters this restaurant is in walking distance from my house which is alway a plus! My husband had been before and enjoyed his meal so he recommended we check it out together this evening. I know most of the reviews compare it to that other place with bowls and salsa, but this is actually really different! They have different rice and bean options and even offer eggplant! My husband ordered the pork and rice bowl and I had a salad bowl with steak. The portion sizes are perfect! I ate my entire meal without feeling stuffed but still completely satisfied. The only thing I would change would be the salad mix. It was fresh, but for my personal taste I prefer all green mixes. We will definitely be visiting here again soon! Really great place! The owner and staff are always so friendly. Reasonably priced and the food is always fresh. I like the fusion of flavors. I make my own Mexican/Mediterranean hybrid grilled chicken salad bowl and it's delicious. They use real mixed greens instead of just shredded lettuce for the salad. The meat is seasoned well, and they have a nice selection of rice, beans, and other fillings. Get a side of their fresh hot sauce too. Love this place. Newly opened and family owned JJs Grille has taken a taste of the Med and added the Latin influences. We had the chicken in a bowl, with portion of the lentil rice and the Spanish styled rice, added some onions and peppers feta and sour cream, I had the steak and similar add ins with Tzatziki. Went here for a spur of the moment lunch with a long time friend. I had never been before and was a little nervous because she said it was like chipotle. Not a chipotle fan. I went, and it's deff going to be something I go back for. I opted for the salad bowl and got a little bit of black beans (rice & beans really aren't my thing) and the pork. Topped with Pico, feta, sautéed onions & tzatziki sauce. It was filling and delish. I give 4 stars just because places like this make my anxiety go up if you are planning on eating in and it's busy. I've been to this place twice now. The first thing you notice is how friendly the staff is. A lot of people compare this place to chipotle due to restaurants style and menu options. I think it tastes better than Chipotle.The great thing about JJs is that you have some Mediterranean options on the menu as well. I ordered a mex bowl with steak in it. The food is excellent and consistent from my last visit. Definitely a great lunch spot if you prefer to order something on the healthier side.
