Very solid massage, located in Chinatown with a good amount of metered street parking. Advertised rate of $45/hour or $50/credit card for a Swedish or Deep Tissue massage. Went with my girlfriend after work one day, and called ahead to ask for a 6:30pm availability (which there was), and it was easy to find, and fairly quiet/empty. We got a couples room/room for two, and unclothed leaving underwear on, and our respective masseuses came and massaged us face-down, at times applying an oil, which was eventually cleaned out using a hot towel. there was very little foot-massage, but the face/head massage was really nice, even the oddly relaxing and enjoyable hair-pulling bit near the end. I enjoyed the massage; I felt that the masseuse knew what she was doing and worked out some weird knots on my lower back that I didn't know I had. I just wished that she had worked out some of the neck knots that I did know I had. Overall though, a good massage, would go again, and would recommend to others.

My husband loved it. The massages are a little rough, so I asked for them to be a little softer. But, I'm kinda a baby with massages, like I don't book deep tissue type of massages. The masseuse went on top of my back on all fours lol. I started laughing when she did that, she started to giggle too. I told my husband she was so petite I didn't mind it. The spa areas were very clean and aesthetically pleasing. I didn't bring a bathing suit, so I couldn't use the co-ed area which looked so peaceful and relaxing. The spa offered shorts for men, so my husband utilized the co-ed hot tubs. He said he was the only person in the co-ed area and men's side. In the women's area, where they had the hit tubs, women are nude. So, it's a little stressful at first because I never been to a spa where people are nude. But, I eventually got comfortable and enjoyed the hot tubs. The women's are that had the clay room, salt room, and sauna required robes. That area was so relaxing. The clay area was my favorite.

You could tell she was very thoughtful with her touch and technique throughout the entire session. She was quiet, professional, and gave the perfect amount of pressure during both the massage and scrub, especially on the pressure points. Everything flowed so smoothly and felt incredibly relaxing. My 1.5 hour massage honestly felt like 2 hours in the best way possible because I was so relaxed and immersed in the experience. My skin felt incredibly soft and rejuvenated afterward. I especially loved the hot honey milk she poured and massaged all over my body. It felt absolutely amazing and made the experience feel extra luxurious and calming. Although Hugh Spa is on the smaller side, it still has enough amenities to enjoy and unwind. The only thing I wish they had was an ice bath, but they do have an ice room which definitely helps. Also, the front staff was very sweet, welcoming, and kind from the moment I walked in, which made the experience even better. Thank you Hugh Spa for finally making me believe in massages again. Have been going to Raven for years and it is wonderful. The masseuses are very, very well trained,…read morethe atmosphere calm and tranquil, and the prices....well, not cheap, but not awful, either -- I'd say fair. That said, I have long had a bone to pick. In one room (or two -- I think it's just for Swedish massages) they have mattresses w/ a hole to hold your head so can lay face down without crinking (is that a word?) your neck. But if you're getting a Thai massage your put on just a regular mattress. It's always bugged me because it defeats the purpose: I go in for a massage to work on my neck, but I tweak my neck by virtue of their set-up. Lots of much less expensive Thai massage places either have beds with a head holder or a pillow with a similar design. I really think Raven should do the same. There....bone to pick expressed! That isn't to downplay all the positive: a great place, but I do hope attn is paid to my one nit to pick.

The masseuse seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. Despite my telling them to be gentle they did not and it ended up being a painful experience. On top of everything, they had really bad breath and two months later I still can't forget that horrible smell! The owner alleging in their response that they honored my request for therapist is clearly a lie because I definitely remember not requesting anyone specifically and thinking during the time of my massage that was a huge mistake. And no I cannot forget that horrible smell which is etched in my brain forever.

This spa experience was okay, but not great…read more First, the good. Valet parking is available for $4. The spa treatments were the redeeming part, even though they were inconvenient to book. More on that later. I ended up getting the Buff (body scrub) & Aroma Massage. As someone who exfoliates almost daily, I didn't expect to get much out of the exfoliating part, but that woman scrubbed off my sins from a past life. That was THE most thorough exfoliation I've ever experienced. My skin was so smooth afterward. Every time she splashed warm water on me to wash away the dead skin, I felt refreshed. At the end of the service, she even gave me the exfoliating glove she'd used during the service. After the scrub, she applied the most hydrating face mask to my slightly sunburned face. After the scrub, she applied a hydrating face mask that my slightly sunburned skin desperately needed. While it dried, she performed my massage using what smelled like eucalyptus oil. The massage was thorough & occasionally intense but overall, I felt amazing. My only concern was sanitation. Services are performed completely nude, & I would've preferred to see the table sanitized in front of me or at least know what products were being used between guests. It was a little uncomfortable knowing someone else's most intimate parts had been on that table moments earlier. The café on the second floor has a decent variety of Korean food, water, juices, smoothies, & cold-pressed juices. I grabbed an apple, ginger & beet juice that was spicy in the best way. At $10, it was cheaper than many cold-pressed juices I've had elsewhere. That's about where the positives end because unfortunately, this is not a great place to relax. I was hoping for an outdoor pool (this is LA, after all). Nope. Just a rooftop deck. The "Ice Room" was about 57 degrees. Cool, but not cold. What WAS cold, however, was the water dripping on me from the ceiling. The Clay Ball Room is a death trap. Nearly everyone who entered after me either fell or almost fell. One poor woman went down so fast she didn't even know what happened. They really need signage warning guests about the slip & fall risk & explaining how to enter safely. I also expected more relaxation rooms. There were only one or two beyond the main spaces. The second-floor common area wasn't the quiet retreat I expected. Despite signs asking guests to keep their voices down, loud conversations were everywhere & no staff seemed interested in enforcing the rules. I thought I'd have better luck in the women-only spa area. Just when I found a quiet spot in the wet sauna, a staff member barged in & told everyone to leave so they could spray something into the air. We were completely naked, the steam is so thick you can barely see a few inches in front of you, & I was just starting to drift into a light sleep when the door flew open & we were told to get out. There was no explanation, no calm communication, & no indication whether this was routine maintenance or an emergency. Even afterward, nobody explained what was being sprayed or why. If this is routine maintenance, there should be signage letting guests know services may be interrupted throughout the day. And if there was such urgency to spray whatever product was being used, it raises questions about whether guests had been been exposed to something concerning. The wet sauna is also another place where hot water drips from the ceiling onto unsuspecting patrons. Very unpleasant & frankly pretty gross. The women's-only section includes a hot tub, warm tub & cold plunge. Unfortunately, I don't believe these pools are cleaned as thoroughly or frequently as they should be. I noticed visible buildup along the tile line at the water's edge, the kind of thing that shouldn't be there if the pools are being properly maintained. Anyone sitting their most intimate parts on those tile seats does so at their own risk. As I mentioned earlier, booking services here is a pain. There are signs advertising treatments but no clear guidance on where to sign up. Helpful patrons told me to go to the front desk, so I had to shower, dry off, get dressed & head upstairs. Then, despite my credit card being attached to my wristband, I couldn't use the wristband to pay. I had to go all the way back to the locker room to retrieve my card. So inconvenient. At my local Korean spa, there's a concierge in the locker room who handles all bookings. If that's not feasible here, at least install a kiosk so guests can book services without leaving the spa area. Online booking would also help, but I couldn't find that option on the website. My intention was to spend the entire day here before heading to my 11:30 pm flight. Instead, I left several hours early because I was so unnerved by the disruptions & disappointed by the limited relaxation options. I'm glad this wasn't my first Korean spa experience because it definitely wouldn't have inspired me to come back.
