Jk Movers did a recent move for me, after 9 excruciating hours of watching the 1/2 the crew stand around a goof off while the other half worked semi hard, I was finally moved. It was a local move, and I had already moved the kitchen and small stuff mysel- so there was no need for it to take 9 hours for a 9 man crew. The foreman claimed he was doing me a favor by bringing an extra guy, but the extra guy just hung out with his friends distractlong them. I was also left with two broken buffets, and they ruined my new hardwood stairs with their tape. after jumping through hoops to try to get reimbursed they blamed my builder for the stairs and said the damage to my furniture was below the deductible. This is my third time moving with JK Moving Services and our biggest move of the three. We paid for a full pack job and the team that came in was fast and professional. We could never have gotten all of our belongings packed on our own let alone all in one day. Everything was wrapped carefully and we had no damaged items. It was clear the team took pride in their work. The move was a two-day move and the mover team arrived on time both days, put down padding at both our old home and new home to protect from damage, and were very respectful and efficient. They communicated clearly to make sure the correct items were moved on the appropriate days and into the correct rooms plus handled multiple pieces of antique furniture with utmost care. It was a relief to have so much care taken with treasured family heirlooms. Overall the experience was as stress-free as a move can be with minimal disruption to our daily lives and the price came out a little bit less than the original quote. their high price does not translate to high quality. if your belongings or home are damaged by jk moving during the move, it appears their goal is to avoid any accountability with processes in place to facilitate avoidance of any financial liability despite collection of a "valuation fee" (masquerading as an insurance premium) from the customer....even though they include an item on your estimate and in your invoice that looks like insurance for your property - and even though you might draw the conclusion from the verbal presentation by the JK Moving rep giving you the estimate that it is an insurance premium, they will tell you when they deny your claim that you did not pay for insurance; you paid for them to unilaterally decide how much your personal and real property and any associated damages are worth. If you make the mistake of hiring these people, I recommend you don't pay this phony-balony fee. Also, if you do hire them, be sure to text photos of any visible damages to personal belongings, floors, walls, etc to the move rep appointed by JK Moving for your move BEFORE the delivery driver leaves the premises and before you sign for receipt - so that you have proof of when the damage occurred and that the company new at the time of damage that they caused it; otherwise, you should expect JK Moving to claim that such damage could have happened before they took your stuff or after they delivered it. I used JK to move from DC to Mexico City. This was the first move I've arranged on my own, and JK made the whole process pretty painless. Their weight/cost estimate was right on point, communication both with JK staff and their affiliate company in Mexico was excellent (Spanish fluency was necessary for the latter), and all of our things arrived in perfect condition after 18 days in transit. The cost was higher than a quote from competitors, but we were happy to pay a premium for JK's professionalism. They give themselves a window of 8-5pm to pick up your stuff but do not tell their customers this ahead of time. A confirmation email will display a two hour window. This is misleading because it is not guaranteed. You will be assigned a move coordinator but good luck to getting in contact with them. A small customer service team which means unlikely for someone to answer the phone quick or at all. Overall, trip delayed due to their company's inefficiencies and small employee base. We made an effort to book JK movers for our upcoming long-distance move next month. Jk received our information from our mortgage company and began contacting us by phone and text. We were not ready to deal with our move as early as when they started contacting us but approximately 3 weeks ago we began to turn our attention to the move. I spoke with a man named Matthew. I really wanted to book this company because of all the 5 star reviews and because they were recommended by our mortgage company which is great and deals with veterans and those in the military exclusively. I was giving a rough estimate of $8,700 for 5000 lbs. of items. I was also told that we needed a video walkthrough for a more accurate estimate. My husband did the video walkthrough with Matthew and arrived at 2500 lbs. for a price of $8000. Well of course I questioned that half of the weight only cut the price by $700. My husband spoke to him again and reported that we could do a "small move" for $6800 but it did not include the packing service which I was okay with but JK could not move us until August 22, 2022. This was a problem because our house will be vacant for 2+ weeks but because they had such great reviews we were ready to move forward with JK. Today we tried to book our move and pay the deposit to lock in our date. I am still searching for movers. Why, you ask? Well it's because no one from will JK will get back to us. My husband then told me that Matthew had told him not to call back but to fill out a form for which he had sent a link. I clicked on the link and began to fill it out when I realized that the form was for financing and not to schedule a move. I called Matthew despite his edict not to call again and was able to explain my problem. My husband forwarded the form to me. showed me the rude text Messages from JK telling him not to call but rather to wait for him to call him back. Due to the rudeness of the people we tried to book a move with we decided to look elsewhere. We moved with another company on July 27. Despite everything with the new company they still charged us $5000 over the agreed upon price. I have come to believe that an honest reputable mover is few and far between. read more

My husband and I have both used JK Moving for previous moves, so thought they would be the ideal company to handle our move from CO to MD. We expected much better than we got. At both ends of the move, while the JK staff were friendly and easy to work with, their contractors were horrible. They did not properly wrap our furniture, resulting in several pieces of broken furniture, including a leg snapped off my great-grandmother's antique sewing cabinet. Tables were scratched, and a leg on a new cabinet/bookcase broken. When boxes were brought in to our new home, they were either taken to the wrong room or piled up 10-high in the living room. We literally had to move every box in order to get furniture placed. While trying to bring in two sofas, walls were damaged. To add insult to injury, JK somehow made an "accounting mistake" and changed our valuation protection from full-value replacement, to $.60 on the pound. This resulted in us receiving $0 to repair our broken furniture. BUYER beware JK Moving is not what it used to be and we cannot recommend! read more

JK Moving Services helped us relocate from Northern Virginia to Florida in July. The crew on both ends were pleasant but it was apparent that the crew on the Virginia end were not experienced in packing. The driver even commented that he'd never worked with them and they didn't know what they were doing. We packed all boxes except the larger mirrors and televisions and even spent $200 on boxes for the mirrors and televisions because JK's boxes were not large enough. Our largest television arrived with a cracked screen and several other items were broken due to improper packing. This was discovered after the crew left because we weren't prepared to mount the television. We submitted a claim for the broken items and the television and were paid for the other items but were told that the television was packed properly and they weren't going to pay anything for it. This is unacceptable! Whatever you do, if you use this company, have them unpack and test everything before they leave. read more

I needed to move my father's belongings out of his assisted living during Covid. It was stressful. JK was thoughtful, organized, careful and kind. They needed to make two stops. Everything got where it needed to go safely. There was lots of follow through on all levels. We got free used boxes and a $35 coupon for tape and packing materials. I got the warehouse late, but they kept it open for me to pick up the materials. The guys that actually did the loading and unloading were lovely. Moving is never easy or cheap (if it is done well). Be very careful if you are considering JK Movers. I had used these movers in 2002 and 2016. They did a good job then and their quotes matched what I ended up paying. When I used JK Movers in April 2020, I received an unpleasant surprise. The movers did a great job and those charges matched what had been quoted to me. The packing charges and service department were a different matter. I was charged over $800 more than the quote I had received for packing. When I unpacked, I found out why the charges were so high. Some boxes had next to nothing in them other than packing paper. A friend who has a great deal of experience in packing and had helped me move in the past, just laughed when he saw what the JK packers had done. If you have JK Movers pack for you, do it at your own risk and expense. Also, don't expect any cooperation from the move coordinator if you have a problem. JK Movers may quote the lowest prices but that will not be what you end of paying. It is not the quality company it once was. read more

It's important to note that my university hired JK to pack up the dorms after we had left due to COVID-19, therefore I was not paying them, the finances were covered by the university so I cannot speak on pricing. However, I can speak on the ease of delivery and the packaging. The delivery was so smooth and easy. The movers were so kind and considerate and handled every making for a very stress free move. My first contact with JK Moving, was with Travis P. He was helpful, flexible and very knowledgeable. Travis gave a very close quote (which I know is hard to do), after he received the video of what was to be included in the move. We had to change a few details, but he was totally fine with it. This company was great at communication and sending me info to help us better prepare for move day. I appreciated that since the last company we used was terrible at that and many other things. Fast forward to moving day. The lead in charge was Ryan. He was AWESOME. We were thrilled to have him be the lead for the move drop off as well as the pick up. He had different helpers, but he really knew his stuff and went the extra mile to make sure that we were up to date on everything that was going on. Everything was loaded with care. We moved to a 3 story townhouse and only one of his helpers said anything about the hike upstairs. We had labeled each box with the floor it was to go to. All furniture was delivered in good condition. We would highly recommend JK Moving. I can qualify that recommendation by our last (terrible) experience with another moving company. The down side was that they seemed to cut some corners (e.g. told me not to worry about some boxes that weren't checked off as "received" since they likely were moved) and, more importantly, charged me for extra expenses after my move. When asked about it, they told me I had signed the paperwork and it didn't matter that the costs weren't explained. Did my items get moved? Yes. Inquired on 4/17 about moving costs, promptly received an email with the requested information. Spoke to a woman to set up movers for 4/29 at 4:00. She took my credit card information for a security deposit, implied we were good to go, and didn't ask for anything further. I started to have a bad feeling as 3:00 rolled around on 4/29 with no contact from the movers. By 4:00 I still heard nothing and their office had already closed for the day so I had no way to get in touch. Movers never showed. I had a reassembled couch in the hallway already that had needed disassembled earlier in the day to get it out of the unit so I ended up having to rush to a U-haul before they closed and enlisting help from friends on ridiculously short notice. Cheaters and thieves. They dinged my furniture piece badly. I saw it with my own my eyes. The furniture piece cost over $2000; they offered me $50 after attempting to wiggle out of responsibility. Would not get back to me for over a month! Forged the paperwork. The most deceptive and unethical people I've ever dealt with. I am 100% going to file a complaint with Bureau of Consumer Protection. I am even contemplating to take it to arbitration just out of principle and be damn sure to hire a very good lawyer. This company is a joke, just like their name. JK Moving moved my husband and I in the middle of Covid. The frees were respectful of social distancing and wore masks. They were very professional, and my stuff arrived intact. The team who unloaded helped with assembling and placed everything where it needed to be, and offered tips for the few pieces that didn't want to downsize with us. We chose JK Moving over several other companies for our move from Ga to Va, based primarily on a family members positive experience in both local and inter-state moves. Our experience did not live up to expectations. The crew packing and loading in Ga was exceptionally good. The delivery was horrendous. Items of furniture, which I had built for our household were broken as a result of,what can only be described as unprofessional technique and incompetence. A sofa table had the legs on one end totally ripped off the table. The cap on a modular bookcase had been dropped on its corner and all the frame and molding pieces separated. Wardrobe boxes dropped so heavily that the bar was ripped loose from the tape designed to keep it stable and dumped all the clothes in the bottom of the carton, several boxes. We requested that the Ga driver be the person to deliver in Va, and with no notification, the entire shipment was unloaded in a warehouse in Gaithersburg, Md, placed in crates and delivered, over the course of 2 days, from 6 separate trucks. The first day yielded not one complete bed , so we had to find a hotel for that night. Then we were advised not to touch any items that were damaged, or empty any boxes suspected of internal damage, until they sent an inspector. He showed up a week later. Puts a real crimp in unpacking and putting stuff away. There are more issues, too numerous to itemize. The response from the contact folks at JK consisted mostly of explanations about why they have to do things a certain way, with little to no concern about the inconvenience and cost to us. All this after spending $22K+ on the move. We still don't know what will be reimbursed, how my furniture will be rebuilt, or even if they will allow me to rebuild what I built in the first place. We will not recommend JK to anyone. read more

The delivery people were very slow. I believe I overpaid for time, as only 1 of the guys worked hard. The second guy helped a bit. The third fellow was useless, and loafed around. At the conclusion, I was told to sign the paper saying everything was delivered in good order - I noted that things were not delivered in good order on the form, on my own accord. 3 of my items were broken. When I filed a claim, the claims people conveniently found that only 1 item which met the deductible was covered, the other stuff wasn't. What a surprise. So I am out $1100 for repairs. We hired JK Moving. Beware - they do not stand behind their word! We hired for a local move. We're a military family and moved a ton - so a solid judge of moving companies having moved 19 times in the last 30 years. We thought we were hiring a quality moving company. Great reviews....They wrapped our white linen sectional sofa cushions with their moving blankets and they were saturated with motor oil. The moving crew took pictures and called it in. Management promised they would take care of it - just pay on delivery. They rejected our claim. They said we had the opportunity to purchase extra insurance! Where is the commitment to the customer to provide basic clean equipment to move? I need "extra insurance" in case they damage my furniture with their oily moving blankets? Take a look at their website. Under Care and Protection "We take steps to protect your belongings that other movers probably don't. Your belongings are protected at the very beginning and aren't unwrapped until your final destination. Every time. " So if you think a company has a responsibility to have boxes and moving blankets that are not saturated with oil you should look elsewhere. They failed to show up with CLEAN BASIC equipment to move our household goods. I do not recommend JKMoving company. I strongly encourage all folks looking for a moving company to look elsewhere. We have completed 9 moves, some corporate and some we coordinated ourselves. Twice before we had quality moves with JK, so called them to handle our most recent move. You might think that since they are at the high end of price quotes, they will take good care of you and your belongings. The price is still high, but the quality service is gone. We paid for a FULL pack and split-move, which we recognize is more complicated. Having done similar moves in the past, we placed all items that were needed to go to our temporary apartment in the kitchen (in cupboards and on the counter) before the packing crew arrived. We took out of the kitchen cupboards all things we knew we wouldn't have space for in the apartment and placed them in the dining room. Everything in the dining room was to go to storage. We told the packers and we had signs hanging up. Way too many mistakes to mention here, but clear examples of poor quality packing service includes: boxes filled with glassware from the dining room labeled kitchen and delivered to the apartment instead of the storage unit, the jar base of the blender arrived at the apartment, without the jar (which was inserted into the base when packers arrived). Sitting next to the blender in the kitchen was my hand mixer which is nowhere to be found. Other obvious kitchen items such as our knife block, casual silverware, Keurig, pots/pans, and plates and bowls never came to the apartment. Yet, plenty of boxes were stacked from floor to ceiling in the apartment. Approximately 1/3 of all boxes delivered to our apartment, we unpacked, had to repack & then transport to storage ourselves because that is where those contents belonged in the first place. JK states that their crews are all employees or vetted, reliable subcontractors. Don't count on this. When the subcontractors who were supposed to assist with packing and loading didn't show, they found someone else who brought along his cousin. Boxes were too heavy, things just tossed in, and mismarked as to contents inside and destination location (storage, apartment, kids bedroom, etc) Given the lack of workers needed to complete this full pack service, my husband took apart the at-home gym and other furniture. On the following mornings, the truck arrived earlier than JK's policy permits and was still loading at dusk a whole day later than they were supposed to be finished. This caused us to have to work late into the night to do final sweep up as the walk through and closing were set for first thing the next morning. My husband and I had to take an additional, last-minute day off work when they did not complete loading per contracted dates. At our destination, they called two crews not prearranged, argued about payment for awhile, and then rushed to unpack us because they had another client they had to get to. My husband and children helped unload the truck into storage and put together bed frames and attached the mirror to the dresser because JK was short on crew and time. Throughout this whole unsatisfactory service from JK, we reached out to our move coordinator, to the Director of Residential Services, the EVP Executive (who is the current President) and even tried to reach the Founder & CEO whom we were told would "make things right" but, from our experience, is not accessible to his customers. We did a lot of the labor that we paid JK to do for us. Because of their lack of professionalism, and long response time, we have had to spend additional time and money so that we can live and function in our temporary housing. They believe they have made a "more than fair" offer to send a crew to our storage unit when they might happen to be in the area (our move was to the state of NC) to try and locate some of the items that we wanted in our apartment. But the items essential for daily living have already been repurchased. Will they really spend the time it will take to go through all the mismarked boxes? How is it fair to take even more of my family's time when we paid JK a premium price to do the move right in the first place? I suggest they change their motto: "What matters most to you, matters most to us" because what matters to me, they do not care about. If honoring a contract matters to you, if problems that may arise are resolved in a timely and appropriate way matters to you, then do NOT choose JKMoving Company. read more
