My family and I used JK moving services to move from Maryland to Massachusetts. Our moving crew was great. They quickly and efficiently loaded and unloaded the moving truck, didn't have any complaints, and made sure we were happy with their work on both ends of the move. They also got our household goods to us in two days. My only complaint about the company was that communication with the office after the quote could have been slightly better. I had questions about some discounts and offers and was advised someone would call me back but they never did. Also, be advised, your weight could be different from your estimated weight. My move was about $300 more expensive than my quoted price. Not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but still, something to consider. read more

I have moved 8 times in the past 22 years. All of the moves have been within the DC Metropolitan area, except for this last one which was about 150 miles away. Needless to say, it was the most worrisome and stressful move as we were not used to the distance. If it weren't for JK Moving, I would have lost my mind. Christa Moore called me early on and got the process started around February/March. We didn't have a closing date yet because we bought new construction. All we knew was that it was going to be in June. This part was stressful enough but Christa made sure I was well taken care of. She called and checked in on me periodically to see if I need anything while packing, preparing for my survey, and on move & delivery days. She made me feel relaxed and focused. She held my hand throughout the whole process. I finally scheduled the survey with Michael Bennett. It was smooth and easy. He explained every step of the way to make sure I didn't miss anything. I really appreciated his patience and professionalism throughout the whole process. We finally had a closing and move date. The crew, Santos Solorzano, Pablo Herrera, Jaime Herrera, Hugh Hanshaw, and Mario Villalta, arrived bright and early on the load date. They marched in like soldiers ready to take all the stress off my shoulders. They were professional, clean cut, and polite. They worked fast and efficiently. Delivery date came quickly. The crew moved fast and put everything in place. They went above and beyond. I did not have to worry about a thing. It felt like having family in my home. As I mentioned, this is my 8th move and I can honestly say that this was the best move and the best crew we've ever had. I referred a close friend to you a couple of years ago. I spoke with her today and she went on and on about how wonderful her move was. She plans to move again soon and will be using JK for sure! The JK Moving team was personable and worked efficiently. However, in the process of moving several items were damaged. We weren't too concerned because we purchased extra protection, since there were some expensive pieces involved. However, JK claimed the damage was pre-existing, and refused to engage in their agreed-upon arbitration process. The combination of carelessness once the items were out of sight, and callousness during the claims process, was surprising given the recommendations we saw here and on other sites. However, their customer ratings have dropped steadily since then, so whatever they were doing right to establish their reputation has been replaced by a different and very disappointing business model and management philosophy. read more

Be sure to have an attorney go over your contract with JK Moving before signing and committing to them. We were so inundated with emails and phone calls from them selling their other services, that we did not notice that a line had been added in charging us for insurance we did not want, and that was not discussed with us at any point. Apparently, the insurance they added onto our total bill also had a $500.00 deductible. When our movers picked us up, they told us they were heading into rain. We saw that on the forecast as well. When they arrived at our NC destination, the driver described the constant rain he had had to drive through. We came to find out, after they left, that his truck apparently leaked. The water damage had to have occurred inside of his truck, since it was a beautiful sunny day for pickup, as well as the delivery day at the destination. We had multiple boxes absolutely saturated with water, and the contents inside actually dripping from being so wet. I took pictures of the box, and the contents. The boxes that got wet, did not have very valuable items in them, but I took pictures of all the saturated items. When I sent them over, Ivan in the claim department said sorry, but because you have that $500.00 deductible, we can't pay you. And it looks like you packed them yourself. So, they damaged our items, but refuse to cover the cost. And, how stupid is it to think that because we packed the box, not them, the items got wet. They don't treat the ones they pack any differently in the truck than the ones the customer packs. Such idiocy. And, their loophole was that we signed the contract that included some insurance we never approved or were made aware of. Get a lawyer to look over your contract before signing. There was also the fact that there had been a bag of change in one of the boxes, and guess what-that somehow fell out of the box along the way. Because we never saw it again. The "owner of the company" always writes to say they are so sorry, and they will use this as a training example for their employees going forward. The "owner of the company" never says they will look into anything, and make it right. Just know that this company can, and will, damage your property, and you will never be reimbursed for it's worth. read more

I just hired them to move me from NYC to Minneapolis and paid extra for the premium moving package ($8k) TLDR - they lost my mattress (lost at another customer's property for a week), then had it transported but the mover SMOKED cigarettes in the van (open air) for five hours with the unprotected mattress. Their response was "we don't owe you anything" and acted like we were the problem. Mattress was filthy as well. They lost additional boxes of my belongings and refused to do anything. Moving lead Malcolm treated us like his employees yelling at us and acting annoyed during the 8 hour packing day. He showed up asking "do you have dishes? Do you have clothes?" When I'd already paid for the packing services. I've been sleeping on an air mattress for two weeks because of them. They have done nothing but be difficult and claim they have no liability. Rude, sexist, condescending, gaslighty customer service. "Director of Customer Care" Shonna Hynick is slimy and the opposite of caring. Avoid at all costs! read more

These people come into your house and pretend to care and be a top notch company. You once they damage your house they are quick to scam you and avoid responsibility. They say they have high standards and move the white house..this is the worst kind of company present to be top touch but treat you like you are a liar and have no respect for your house. in all of my military moves 26 years this is the worst. They had came with high reputation but if you have a million dollar plus house. Beware. Do not sign the tablet. They note all kinds of damage that you do not get to verify. Then they will deny your claim. Don't trust them at all I told them about damage in my brand new kitchen the very next day after they packed it and showed the lead person. They never annotated that damage in the tablet. I immediately sent a photo the company and they denied my claim and said because of a signature on a tablet. By the way I have none of those documents. You don't get an email copy at all. So again. Don't sign anything Then they tried to say oh you had movers from another company - wow. The blame game begins. I chose JK Moving Services based on a friend recommendation and after an assessment by the person who came to my home. I was impressed by the assurances that if I needed last minute packing on the day of the move, that would not be an issue. After I signed the contract, I felt supported by the in house staff and by the fact that I could have second hand boxes delivered as needed. On the day of the move, 5/2/2025, I believed the crew was to arrive at 10 AM. I had left boxes to pack last minute, necessary items. At 7:00 AM, I received a call that the crew would be at my home at 7:40. I lived in a 3 level TH, with a detached garage. I was alone and a 7 member crew arrived. I was not ready for them to begin loading the house so they started loading well marked boxes from the garage. By the time I was ready for them to enter the house, I was told the garage was done. I was attempting to keep track until I realized, my purse, that I had clearly put out of the way, was missing. I searched all 3 levels including closets, and it was nowhere to be found. The assumption was it was on one of the 2 trucks. Luckily I had put my car keys in my pocket. Everything else was in my purse. Also, there was a large built-in desk in the kitchen, that I had not had time to pack so I had one of the movers do so. Again, there were last minute items in that desk that I would immediately need at the new home. Upon arrival, 7 movers were asking me where boxes belonged, although they were clearly marked. It was very chaotic and nearly impossible to keep track. My purse was eventually located on the second truck. It was a long day and I believe I acted in good faith, ordering pizza and tipping each mover at the end. As I started unpacking, I realized that marked boxes were stacked and piled in areas where they did not belong. Cords were left to an electric recliner, items that went together were separated, the items in the desk in the kitchen were in 7 boxes that were not labeled and I am still looking for things I need. Although I had purchased insurance, 10 days is not nearly enough time to discover broken items and of the items that were broken, I was told it was too late. I may have let all this go until I was told in hindsight, that because I was alone and this was such a large move, I could have had the move broken up into 2 days with only a couple of movers each day. Obviously that would have been much more manageable, but I was not informed of that option. I did tell my friend who recommended JK of my experience and did also send an email to their office, letting them know what happened. My email was not acknowledged. Hopefully it was taken seriously enough so that someone else, should they choose JK Movers, will not have the experience I had. read more

on the positive side, the estimator was helpful and we went with JK based on our interaction with him. We did get everything that was packed, and the packers were very nice. Even though we sold several large pieces of furniture after the estimate, we still had to pay an extra $1500 over the estimate. Then to make matters worse, the day before the delivery, we were told that it would be an extra $1300 because the delivery truck was too large for our development. of course we had to pay since there was no choice. it would have been better if they had researched the route before the estimate. However, when we had our goods delivered after two months in storage, things went downhill. Although we had paid a lot for unpacking, the movers on this end, who were subcontracted by JK, were not told they had to unpack. They argued about it with us until the driver confirmed with the company that in fact they had to unpack. they were quite angry about that and complained all day to us about how angry they were with us and how little they were paid. they took out their anger by refusing to unpack any paintings, and left lots of other boxes unpacked. everything else they strewed across the floor, with no concern. electrical cords were missing, and lights broken. in addition, one of our expensive tables was completely soaked and discolored, even though it had not rained. We had two very expensive irreplaceable sculptures broken, beyond repair. A large standing mirror was also broken. They had few tools even though they were supposed to put back together a large shelving unit. They had to borrow a ratchet set from our neighbors.The bed frames were put together haphazardly. When we signed the contract which included storage, we were told that the storage was climate controlled. later, the move coordinator told us it was not; probably that why the table was soaked. in summary, the local people seemed to be OK, but in our experience, I would not use JK for any out of state moves. read more

Used JK to move my daughter and her boyfriend from Cincinnati back to Va. Had an opportunity to use them a few years back but didn't and regret it. My daughter said the movers were nice, polite, and was amazed at how fast they got things done and moved heavy furniture like it was a paperweight. JK originally said that their stuff wouldn't be delivered until Saturday but it arrived one day earlier. It turned out cost more than unexpected but that was due to the amount of packing they did. My only beef with them is communication. The movers didn't call on their way to their apartment or when delivering their stuff. They just kind of expect you to be there waiting for them. Otherwise great company, nice people, 24-hour service. What's not to like? Will use them again if the need arises. read more

We did a full pack and move including moving one of our cars - long distance move. This was the worst moving experience of my life. We were told that the entire packing and loading crew were professional movers who did this work every day and knew what they were doing. We got one person that fit that category. Everyone else showed up late, left early, didn't come back - and had no idea what they were doing. We witnessed two of them take a packed medium size box and roll it down the stairs! We we asked them not to do that they mocked us and continued to for the rest of the move. They dropped and damaged an antique. We told them we would need an entire truck - they disagreed and sent one with another load on board - our belongings did not fit. I was on the phone many times with the office complaining during the pack and load. We were supposed to leave the house cleaned up by 9am on the final day - load was supposed to be completed the night before - did not work out. Loading finished 2 hours after we were supposed to be gone - then we had to clean up. The weight estimate was off by more than 17%. So they charged me more than $2000 over the estimate. Upon delivery many things were crushed, broken and poorly packed. Every step of the process was terrible. The key is in how does a company deal with what happens when things go wrong - the answer was very poorly. They insisted that being off by over 17% was what they considered to be a good estimate - keep that in mind if you hire these people. After charging us over $2K more than the estimate they "gave" us back $250 for all the trouble. They refused to fix the antique we watched the movers drop and chip. I could go on and on - it was the worst. I would not move with J & K again if the move was free. Hiring them is rolling the dice - if you get a good crew you are probably OK - if you don't - they will not help you. read more

Do not use JK Moving! We have moved multiple times and this was hands down, the worst experience. The salesman, Grant, who came to conduct our estimate was very charming. We had three estimates and chose JK Movers, based on our interaction with Grant. That's where the positive experience ended. Our account administrator, Mariana, was AWFUL! Most of the people who work for this company work outside of the US, such as Mariana and others are brought in from abroad as seasonal help. Our packer lives in Peru and the two helpers with her could not speak English. They overpacked boxes and took over 12 hours to pack a home that only had 8000 lb of furniture and items. The moving crews on both ends were good but we were told by Grant that all people who would be moving us would be employees of JK; this was a flat out lie. The biggest nightmare came when we realized that our parts box did not make the move, all parts to our furniture. It took almost a week to be able to have our furniture assembled and then locate the parts box. The parts were no longer needed by the time that we received them because they had sent a company to put our furniture together with parts bought at Lowe's. We were reimbursed for our hotel stay but we're not reimbursed for a broken chair, parts my husband bought at Best Buy so our TVs could work and hiring someone to put our dining table together after we received the box because the people could not get long enough screws from Lowe's. If you want to maintain your sanity, go with any other company. read more

Carefully, carefully - that is how you must treat JK Moving, because they will not be careful with your stuff, and they won't pay for the damages later. To be clear, my complaint is not with the workers, who seemed to be doing their best under trying circumstances. My complaint is with the leadership. This was previously a good moving company, but now it's more like a moving company scam. They ask for a modest deposit, and present you with a contract of adhesion. Especially if, like me, you have few choices on a long-distance move (I'm 78, so would find it difficult to do a U-Haul), you sign up. I get some of the blame for what happened; when I began to unpack after the move, I saw a few minor problems, and I wrote them up and reported them, expecting some sort of modest repairs and/or compensation. But the more I unpacked, the more problems I saw. I found serious damage on two pieces that had been concealed by the way they were unloaded and arranged in the room, and when I unpacked the last box, I saw it did not contain the framed photograph and prints I thought it did; these items had somehow been lost. I immediately notified JK Moving of the problems, but they said they would not consider claims that weren't included on the first submission (though my second submission followed the first one very quickly), and would not in any event compensate me for damage that had quite clearly resulted from furniture being dropped or dragged along a concrete surface. It's too late for me, but it may not be too late for you. Choose a reputable mover. If you still decide to go with JK Moving, take your time (like a couple of months if necessary) and check every item from every angle before you send in a claim for damages and/or loss. And to JK Moving: I hope the IRS audits you. The slick, quick way you disregarded my most serious claims makes me think you might be a cheat on taxes, too. read more

I've done 3 cross country moves, and many state to state and local moves in my career, and JK has by far provided the best service of them all - hands down blew the other companies out of the water. I chose them over the big companies because they have the same driver load the truck, drive the truck and unload the truck. Yes, you can get cheaper prices at the big name companies, but cheapest isn't best in moving. JK was middle of the road pricing but very high quality and in my book quality movers are hard to come by. Sande and Cassy are fantastic at coordinating everything for your move. They answered all my questions, gave me updates often, and overall provided great service. I would totally use this company again for the next time I need to move. Classic bait and switch scheme We just finished $40,000 move with JK Moving Services. (We have moved (work related) around the globe many times). This is our experience: On the positive side: Everybody we dealt with was professional and courteous. Calls were returned in a timely manner and the move went smoothly. On the negative side: This is a classic bait and switch scheme fine-tuned to perfection over many years. They already tell you in the small print of their offer that they will raise the price. Read the small print carefully! We enquired about their price increase clauses, and they provided a written statement via email that they will not increase their quoted price. Despite their written statement as soon as they had our moving goods, they raised the price. Naturally, once they have your goods, they know you are in their hands. USE JK MOVING IF YOU LOVE TO READ FINE PRINT. I have too much bad to say about this company. It would be so long a comment that no one would read it. After no problem hiring JK for my move, I was highly overcharged, to the point that I felt deceived, but it was way too late to change to another moving company (and they knew that). The contract is so many pages of fine print that nobody would think to read it all, particularly when you are 100% involved in the physical jobs of downsizing and packing up your household. But word to the wise, if you use JK, you had better read every bit of it because they will use it against you if you have any issues. The cost skyrockets when you have to add insurance. And they make it so cost prohibitive that you are forced to settle with a $500 deductible. The movers arrived and rushed to get my items off the truck--I had 221 items. But they could not tell me where any of my table lamps were! They said I had to unpack all the boxes to find them! Imagine trying to do this in the dark. I found one but no lightbulbs. So I had to spend the night with my son 30 minutes away and borrow some lightbulbs. When I did locate them, they were just loose in a box, and of course all blown. When I tried using one, it shorted out half my apartment! This is just one example of the obvious lack of regard for my belongings. They emptied drawers of my nightstand (so light even I could have moved it) and a small dresser and threw contents in a box along with any thing else, like one shoe and my father's dog tags. Maybe they liked going through my lingerie. I'm still unpacking this assortment, a month later. And yet they had no problem moving a very heavy dresser with all its contents. My shoe rack was moved empty, while my shoes were shoved in the bottom of several wardrobe boxes. Back to the rush of moving in and getting out. There were three movers and just me and a friend who handled THE CLIPBOARD. You better get someone who has an eagle eye to do this for you while you direct the traffic of all three movers. The clipboard has all the numbers of your boxes and items outside of boxes. Like I said, I had 221. When the truck was supposedly empty, two numbers could not be accounted for. I circled them, but the head mover went and checked them off and said they had been moved in. He stood with his hands on his hips close to me and said "Sign here, and here, and here." Again fine print. So I signed. And a couple days later I noticed three tiles in my foyer had been cracked by the heavy weight of the six boxes and dolly they moved in (or that heavy dresser). With so much to deal with, I had not noticed the cracks for days. When I reported them to JK Moving, they sent me a copy of my signature with THE FINE PRINT saying that no damage had been done to the premises during the move! When I responded with an angry note, they claimed a flooring expert (from afar) determined the cracks were not fresh! What Bull. I had done an apartment inspection at the outset of my occupancy, well before JK arrived. I don't know how many hundreds of dollars I will have to spend because of their carelessness and THE FINE PRINT. Even if I was not intimidated and had read all the fine print, there was no keeping these movers on the premises while I inspected all floors and walls and furniture and carpet....and .... read more

I am a former employee of JK. I worked with them as a laborer for a few years as a summer job 20 years ago. They had a good reputation and I was confident they would take care of my elderly parents on a move that took place this past June (they are late 70's with my father who is in poor health having just turned 80 in July). Being a former employee, I thought my parents would have a better chance of being taken care of. When the estimator came through the house, he said it would be a same day move...pack up, move, and unload all in one day. I questioned it knowing how much "stuff" my parents had in the house. I figured 1 day for packers to come in and then another day to load it on the truck and move to the new location. He assured me that it would be done all in one day and I figured "okay, they have probably become more efficient since the days that I worked". I could not have been more wrong. The moment they got off the truck, they told my parents they did not have enough boxes to pack everything up. The nightmare only got worse for them. They left so much behind at the old house, my parents HAD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER DAY to have them come back and pack items into boxes and then move them to the new house. During the unload, they DID NOT lay down runners to protect the floors as they brought everything in on dollies. It wasn't until I got there and said something that they put the runners down. They unloaded light boxes and put them on the bottom of stacks while stacking the heavy boxes on top crushing the bottom boxes. The total price for the move came in $8000 MORE than the estimate. JK did nothing to make this right. To top it off, my mother STILL tipped the 8-man crew $50 each. I'm ashamed that I recommended this company to my parents. Did I mention the damages? Gouges to tabletops? Or broken items in boxes? They give you 10 days after the move to file any claims for damages. However, it will take at least 6 months to a year to fully unpack everything that was moved. The move was a disaster and everything we hoped it wouldn't be. Do better JK. We used JK to move from D.C. to Alexandria and they were great: quick, careful, etc. Then we used them for a de-clutter move before selling our house in Alexandria. Then we moved everything out and kept our stuff in storage before buying a home in Florida. No complaints with the local moves. The long-distance move to Florida was horrendous. The morning of moving in, the driver called me and told me he could not get to our house because the truck is too big and they would need to unload everything into smaller trucks. I told him there are numerous ways to get to our house and that he can use bigger roads. He made me drive over to him, and he followed me on roads that worked. Instead of mapping it out or remembering, he then made me lead him back to where I met him so he could get his guys. I then had to lead the moving truck and one of his other guys' cars to our house. So they started way later than scheduled, and I've already wasted a couple of hours on a work day to help them (do their job for them). The "team" was a guy from DMV area and his nephew who did not speak English well or who just ignored us and one other local guy. The uncle and nephew did not get along with the local guy, so they just kept piling up stuff in one room and the local guy couldn't keep up. The nephew broke two chairs of ours. The second one he broke after again storing it upside down after we just told him to be careful and not to store it on its back with a bunch of other stuff. They also broke an antique andiron. Because there was only one guy working on the inside, it was clear that they weren't going to get done anywhere close to the early evening. The local guy was super careless and put stuff wherever he wanted to do so. He was asking to get out by 5:00 because he had left his broken down car on the side of the interstate earlier in the day. My wife and I ended working with them, carrying heavy boxes even though we have some shoulder and back issues, and put in a combined 6 hours doing their job for them even though we paid a lot of money to not have to do that. The lead guy was also terrible and irresponsible. We had to tell him we paid to have our exercise equipment put together and an antique bench reassembled. I noticed that I hadn't seen my bike and they realized there was a bunch of our stuff still on the truck. It was a horrible day. We were both in pain and just let them leave once everything was just indoors and not in the rooms that they should have been in. But we were tired of the complaining and attitudes from all three of them. Hoping that JK would be embarrassed and understanding, I called and wrote our contact Grant who had promised fantastic service and came up with the pricing. Grant dodged me and we still never heard back from him. He is just a terrible person for not having the decency to answer any one of the 10 communications to him after he seemed so pleasant upon our first meeting. I guess he figured he couldn't get any more business out of us, so he moved on instead of closing the loop with us. We did get in touch with their customer service person. She listened to our whole story and then had to get the other side of the story from the terrible lead guy who brought his nephew, needed so much help, didn't want to put together anything, couldn't find a way to get to my house twice without my help, etc. Consider the source. The process took weeks; there is no excuse for that level of delay. Ultimately she came back with an offer for $125 for our issues. We were expecting half of that move's total cost to come back since not only did we do about 8 hours of work but the job itself was terrible. Our billable rates to have to skip work to help them is worth more than $15.63 an hour. We responded to her that it was absurdly low and we expected half of the costs (extremely fair) and she doubled it to $250 but that was her highest offer. I told her that was absolutely ridiculous as is playing the short game to save money but making great customers completely disappointed and upset. I told them I would have to give an honest review and she told me to go for it, and here is that review. Grant will lose future commissions as a result and JK will lose business if someone comes across my reviews. And they deserve to do so. Being fair to us would have likely resulted in me just saying that people should use them for local moves only. But JK Moving does not play the long game nor care about their customers. I used JK moving for a semi-local move. They were professional and helped deal with some unexpected issues that came up along the way (elevator didn't work, reserved parking was taken etc.). Despite this, they worked hard to keep it as close to the estimate as possible without cutting corners. The price was very fair and was under what I ultimately thought it would be after the crap hit the fan. I would recommend JK Moving because they don't make excuses, they just get the job done. You'll pay a competitive rate and they take great care to prevent wall scuffs/damaging your items. read more

We were quoted $12k for a move and the night before it was to be delivered, we were called and said we have 2 hours to make payment for delivery the next day. Final invoiced amount $16k!!! How can an estimate be 33% off?!? But they had all of our furniture so what are we going to do, not pay it??? Complete rip off!!! read more

These are pictures of my damaged goods. Indian of Ocala gave me a 3700 estimate to fix fairing which had external and internal damage, and damaged rear fender. They offered me 2300. I reached out to them Tuesday with difference in estimate and now it's Friday at 11am. No response to my emails. Imagine trusting a company with your possessions and they damage them. Then they add insult to injury with a half ass settlement. Of course they are the victims in this. No response from these ignorant morons. They had the nerve to email the Indian dealership here in Florida to do the repair for 1400 less then their estimator. Quite clearly it stated that internal damage would be added after the bike was taken apart. But again they are too stupid and ignorant to understand that. I'll go into detail about their employee and customer service for anyone that wants more specific details. You take insurance out and they are negligent and damage the motorcycle and refuse to pay the claim. I have pictures, emails and paperwork to back up everything I posted. My experience with them started out well with Mike who did the initial videocall walkthrough. Unfortunately things didn't always go as well after that. I moved from Miami to New York with furniture being delivered at three different places in NY. The movers in Miami packed everything well and were efficient but despite me telling them explicitly where each item was to go a few pieces were marked incorrectly so the movers in New York found themselves bringing something inside one delivery spot only to have to bring it back to the truck. The moving crew in NY were hardworking and responsive and had to deal with the problem created in Miami with items being mislabeled. The one disappointment was that the Miami movers dismantled a Peloton bike and the NY movers said that the company JK hires for crating items would reassemble it but the third party craters knew nothing about it and to make matters worse JK told the crater to charge me an additional amount to reassemble the Peloton bc that was supposed to be done by the movers and not the crating company. But that was JK's fault and not something I should have to had dealt with and pay extra for. JK also gave the crating company the wrong address among the three delivery stops for them to go which is inexcusable as the two art pieces that were crated were explicitly marked and delivered correctly to the delivery address which inexplicably was not the delivery address JK gave to the crating company. Finally JK had given me a delivery date subject to final confirmation and that full payment was required one day prior to delivery date. I called the day before what I believed to be the delivery date and said I was paying by credit card for the delivery next day and my contact person at JK processed my payment and then only after I was fully paid then told me she just checked and my delivery date had been moved an additional week. I would not have paid in full a week in advance and lose any leverage to keep them to a delivery date when they were already fully paid. read more

I paid entirely too much (about $6500) for the worst experience I've had with any move. The packing crew was pleasant and arrived on time. However, they didn't bring enough people to finish by the quoted deadline, forgot about a bathroom even after I reminded them, and didn't number several boxes, which came back to haunt me. They also tore the back off my bookshelf, instead of the simpler and less destructive option of wrapping it up as-is. My delivery was delayed by 4 days after the scheduled window, which I understand happens. What I don't understand is them taking over a month and three phone calls to figure out I didn't owe them money because of the $125-per-day-late discount. I can't fault the unpacking crew; they were pleasant, efficient, and pointed out damage on items as soon as they were unloaded. As I unpacked & organized over the next few weeks, I found more and more items were mishandled, bent, cracked, and flat-out broken. After going back and forth with their claims department and providing ample documentation including HD video, over half of my reimbursement was denied for "not present" (unnumbered therefore it doesn't exist), "no damage observed", and "excessive use" when they were undamaged beforehand. They also gave me German roaches; I had several emerge from newly opened boxes when I didn't have them at my old place, along with seeing one crawl out from underneath framed artwork when I turned it over. JK Moving is shoddy, drag their feet, and only care about getting paid on delivery so they can ignore you. They boast about full value protection and then refuse to honor it. I'm baffled as to how they haven't collapsed under the weight of their collective greed and carelessness. If I could give negative stars, I would. If I could go back in time and go with anyone else or throw everything in a large moving truck myself, I would. I'll continue to be honest about this experience with friends, family, and anyone who asks me what moving company I had the misfortune of dealing with. read more

My wife and I used this company to store and move our furniture recently. The main office was unresponsive and the app did not work. They are very expensive and they charged us for 7 pallets instead of the 6 we actually used. Although we finally got a refund for that, our belongings took a beating. We paid an extra $250 for a crate to move our 65" TV, but it arrived with a 2" gash across the screen. Our expensive wooden furniture had dings all over it, and they broke a bedroom window. My aunt recently just moved from Maryland back to st. Louis and after the movers moved her back into her house the movers brought her couch back over to my mom's house and I think it was great service because they really didn't have to do that and they were very respectful and they hooked the couch together, respectful men and overall good quality of the moving. Don't use this company, they arrived in my neighborhood before 6:00am on a Sunday and started making load noise unloading their semi into a uhaul. They then proceeded to get the uhaul stuck at the bottom of my street blocking traffic on ca27 and to my house. When I took video and complained about their behavior the person in charge threatening to attack me. Just would think twice about using this company. read more

JK promised to move me into a house April 1st, when the previous tenant was moving out. They got here early and demanded that I rent a storage unit. I had to pay a second moving company and the storage unit to move me at the correct date. No compensation was provided. I had purchased insurance and received $200 towards a completely shredded mattress. I am looking at taking them to small claims court, but they are out of state. I want to preface this by saying that it takes a LOT for me to write a bad review. The moving crew itself was great, couple technical issues at the beginning (not their fault) but overall they were fast, careful, and helpful. Can't say the same for the administrators & moving coordinators, however - the company itself was incredibly disorganised, unhelpful, all over the place, not to mention hard to reach regarding important matters on the day of the move at the number specifically provided to me to call if there were any issues or questions. Additionally, they rescheduled my move-in date with less than 24 hours notice due to "weather" when the conditions were completely fine all weekend (and the crew even said so themselves) causing me to scramble to extend my lease at my outgoing residence which cost me extra time and money. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the guys from the moving crew were absolutely lovely and professional. However, due to the disorganised admin I would not use JK moving again. read more

Each member of the team was kind, helpful and knowledgeable. My furniture was moved coast yo coast and every single item arrived in one piece without a scratch. My home was treated with respect. I had a good experience with them in the past but ended up not proceeding with them when trying to book a recent move. Immediately after I submitted my quote I started getting calls, texts, and emails that I'm not able to distinguish if are legitimate or scams. I would get calls from different numbers with JKMoving as the caller id, but when I would pick up there wasn't an actual person on the line and it seemed like they were trying to collect my voice data. I can't say for sure if this was the case or JK just uses a lot of robot calls, but I was getting 5 of these calls a day and this was after I had already connected with their sales team to start on a quote. Additionally they used third party websites that I have no way a verifying are legitimate or not. These issues drove me away from considering them. read more
