What a great store. The owners (father & son) are very knowledgeable and helpful. One is a certified gemologist and the other is a gold smith. Their selection is unique and comprehensive. They have jewelry for all styles and budgets. They have many one-of-a-kind pieces you won't find in mall jewelry stores. I would guess that most of their selection is either custom made or estate pieces. What brought me into the store was I needed to sell my deceased mothers jewelry collection. I had been to several other stores and had a rough idea what the collection was worth. Jeffery took the time to educate me on exactly what I had. He seemed sympathetic to the fact that selling my mother's jewelry was difficult for me. He took the time to go through the entire collection and helped me sort out what was real and what was costume. His purchasing price was right in line with what I'd expected to get for the jewelry, but the added bonus was JL Jewelers brought dignity and patience to the process. Never did I feel like my mothers treasured possessions were a commodity that they were only interested in its value. While I was in the store, several regular customers came in. JL does repair as well. From watch batteries to resizing to moving stones from old jewelry into new settings, they seem to be a full service store. I watched as they took time with each customer to make sure they were meeting their needs. My main impression was Jeffery & Alex are honest people who run an honest store. Stay away from the mall stores and the chain stores. Compared to JL Jewelers, those chain stores are used car salesmen. I know it sounds crazy, but I really feel like I found an honest jeweler. While you're there, ask to meet Phil the french bull dog. He's the sweetest fella and he likes a little scratch behind the ears. (On a side note, I found a beautiful set of earrings for my wife while I was there. Shhh, don't tell her. I want it to be a Christmas surprise!) read more

I recently sold my engagement ring at JL Jewelers, and was very impressed. The salespeople were like little rays of sunshine - very good vibes! I got a very reasonable offer on my ring - considering you will snag much less money selling at a store than selling yourself. However, they bought it for around what I'd hoped for in selling it in this manner, while other places offered way below what I though I could get for it. If you are turned off by stuffy, snobby, pushy jewelry stores, or a corporate atmosphere, you will love this place. They are down to earth, very sweet and easy to deal with. Customer service is clearly not a priority here. I had a terrible experience here. I came in to get a watchband for a vintage watch I had bought and in the process of putting the band on, the watch and crystal came apart. I was told it would be at least $30 and 3 days to fix as the case was bent and needed bent back. The owner was incredibly defensive and insulting not once but twice when I asked to explain what needed done and told me if I had brought it in perfect it would be perfect and due to other work they had to do I would have to wait. I ended stopping at a small jewelry store in Hamilton and within a half hour the watch was beautifully put back together and running. Makes you wonder what really happened to make him so defensive and my watch to be in several pieces. read more
