Ok I've been to JLB several times and l can say I actually like this place. The burgers are legit. The fries and onion rings are legit. I decided to try the fried 'catfish' filets for lunch today. Now I'm from south Louisiana and have lived in southeast Texas for over 40 years. This, ladies and gentlemen, is not catfish. I'm betting on swai or tilapia. No more than 1/4 inch thick and, after frying, tough and rubbery. I'm giving JLB four stars because, like I said, I like the place, but the fish, at least this fish, deserves no more than two stars. When my wife saw the Joy Love burger, I brought home from the Barker Cypress location, she had to try it. I called in an order to the Tomball location (22625 Hwy 249). Compared to other burger restaurants, it is on the pricier side, but the burger portions and taste are very good. The meat patty is very large in size. Combine that with homemade buns that are not too big or thick makes for a phenomenal meal! Make sure that you place your order ahead. This place is NOT fast food. read more

I ventured out with a friend to find a new burger joint for our monthly luncheon. I found this place during my Yelp search and since it was in the neighborhood we decided to give it a try. To make a long story short; this place ROCKS! The lady that took our order was both helpful and friendly. My friend ordered a burger and I had the steak sandwich. My steak sandwich was very very tender and my friends Burger was awesomely Big & Juicy. This was truly a gut busting experience and I will definitely be back. Secondly, they're most of a smash patty, but not flat like some other places but definitely not a "artisan" hunk of meat that's like a ball-- it's a good sized patty. I ordered the bacon avocado burger-- the burger was good, juicy, and a nice sear on it . The buns were fantastically softened add to the overall experience because they're so good!!! The onions (add-on), mustard (add-on), fried egg (add-on) & lettuce were fresh, I took off the tomatoes. Switched the tots for fries (cost extra). We have eaten here many times. Often we just pick it up, and a few times we've eaten there. The food is made fresh, so we are always prepared for it to take a little longer. Tonight I used their online ordering, and it made me give a 20% tip. When I clicked on 10%, 15%, or "no tip," it wouldn't allow me to click. I thought it was probably an error, so I decided to wait and ask about it at the restaurant. When I arrived, I told the cashier what had happened. She brought out a manager, and he said there was nothing he could do about it. Keep in mind that I had ordered three hamburger combo meals and two kids meals. The total before tip was $75. When the tip was added it was $100. I explained to him that if I were eating in the restaurant I would tip, but I shouldn't have to tip when I'm picking up my own food. Again, he said there was nothing he could do about it. I left, a little upset, but happy that I was supporting a small business. When I got home I realized we had not received any french fries at all. I called to ask about the issue. I was told that I had ordered incorrectly. I had my ticket in hand that showed I had ordered correctly. They told me I could pay for more and come get them. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I am sad that they lost a loyal customer. read more

I was visiting Houston from the bay area California and decided try this burger joint. Since I am very used to eating In n Out burger, I was very surprised how this small private joint made their burger tasted like the In n Out but but much bigger. I meant bigger than the triple patty from the In n Out. The seasoning was well done from the start to end and the bun seemed to be made at the store. If this burger come to California with the same price range, I would definitely choose this burger over In n Out. $6.95 for the huge burger and $8.95 for the double everything burger. I don't think any joint in Texas can beat this burger for the taste and the amount of the food. This is a must try burger joint if anyone is visiting Houston. read more

Great burgers. Some of the best on my top 10 burger list. I usually get the regular Cheeseburger, because it's so good. The patty is Certified Angus beef. The vegetables are fresh.
