The heavy winter rains finally did in a portion of my basement wall that had been cracked and leaking for several years. My house is a 1910 Craftsman and the foundation walls are unreinforced concrete. I got 3 wildly different bids. One company wanted to lift the whole house for $80k and the low bid just wanted to inject epoxy into the cracks. Jony, the owner of JM suggested that the existing wall should be demolished and a new one constructed. A deal was made and the work began a week later. JM is a small family business and so Jony, Ion and Manuel worked on it together. Ion ended up being the main guy throughout the job, excavating, shaping the rebar and building the forms for the new wall. On the day of the pour all three of them mixed 50 bags of cement and got it into place. The new wall is more than twice as thick as the old one and I'm confident that the leaking problem is solved. Communication with Jony was a breeze throughout this job. If he didn't pick up immediately he always called me back within minutes and he took care of any details that i asked about. When the job was done all dirt and wood debris was removed and my property was left looking good. Based on my experience I cannot recommend JM more highly. They did a great job for me. read more

Let's do bullet points: * Jony was the only foundation expert available for an inspection during the weekend. After I had called him Friday night, he was onsite for the inspection Saturday morning. His price for the inspection was very reasonable too. * Jony's inspection report was well written, highly detailed and contained helpful pictures snapped under the house. * Price quoted for the foundation repairs looked good. * I told Jony we planned on contacting him a few months later to schedule repairs, "after taxes." He was fine with that. No pressure, very flexible with scheduling. * Now Jony and team have completed the repairs and they look fantastic. We feel a lot better about the house. * Bonus: Jony was able to provide guidance relating to expansive soil. We put in rain gutters (from a different local business we found on Yelp, Edgeline Rain Gutters, thumbs up there as well btw... sigh I need to set aside time to write another 5 star review) after discussing the issue with Jony and are glad we did so. We just bought a new home and choosing to work with Jony has been our best decision yet. During our escrow period, we scrambled to find foundation companies to come out and give us an estimate so that we could put together a proposal to our seller. JM Building was one of the very few companies that didn't charge for a complimentary consultation. (Other companies charged $250). We had 2 other companies, beside Jony's, come out to take a look at our home. The other 2 companies barely peeked their heads under our crawlspace and wrote us an estimate off of "what they could see". Jony is the only one who got into his gear and spent 30 minutes crawling around under our home taking photos of problematic areas and making sure that he covered every inch. The thing we enjoyed most was that Jony never once tried to upsell us. Because the foundation of homes are hidden and we will never be able to see what's going on under, it was important to us to find a company that could be honest and transparent with us. From a sales rep's perspective, in a situation like this, it would be really easy to upsell the customer and add on things they don't necessarily need. Not with Jony. We went over main areas of concern, and which parts of the home were an absolute necessity to fix and which were just recommendations on his behalf. The quote came within 24h after our consultation and he listed out a few options that we could look into. Option A consisted of the necessary fixes that we were already aware of and Option B were his added on recommendations - but entirely up to us on whether or not we wanted to do now or later. Jony never gave us any pressure and didn't make us feel bad for not picking the more expensive and unnecessary option (which, most companies do). Jony and his guys completed the work on our home in 2 days, during the time frame which they promised. They showed up on time each morning and worked diligently. Not to mention, his guys were respectful of our property and CLEAN from beginning to end. After they were done, Jony showed us photos of all the work they had done under the house. This was so important to us since we will never be able to see this for ourselves. It was refreshing to work with someone so honest and someone who clearly has his customers' best interest at heart from beginning to end. Not to mention that his pricing was by FAR the most competitive. I'm recommending JM Building to anyone I know who needs a foundation expert to come and assess their home.
