I first stumbled across Emmy Squared Pizza on the Upper West Side in early spring because my son had swimming lessons nearby every Saturday morning. What started as a simple place to grab pizza after class quickly became one of our favorite weekly traditions. From the very beginning, Nicole, the hostess, and the manager made us feel so welcomed and cared for. They remembered our order, our favorite table, and even the little details about our family. My oldest son is autistic, and routine is incredibly important to him. The way they welcomed us and made us feel comfortable meant more to me than I can truly express. Over time, Nicole became someone I genuinely looked forward to seeing. We would talk about life, my family, and everything going on in between swimming lessons and pizza. During a particularly difficult time for our family, including the loss of my children's grandfather, her kindness and warmth felt like an unexpected therapy session and a safe space. On my son's final day of swimming lessons, when he received his certificate, the team went above and beyond and made him a special pizza to celebrate. They gave him the absolute red-carpet treatment, and I will never forget how special they made him feel. What touched me most is that they made my children feel like they were the only people in the room, even though the restaurant was full and from what I witnessed, they made every customer feel that same way. The manager, Nicole, and the kitchen team created an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, and genuine hospitality that I honestly haven't experienced in a very long time. For families looking for a welcoming, safe, and comfortable place especially families with autistic children I cannot recommend Emmy Squared Pizza on the Upper West Side enough. The love and hospitality they give their customers is truly extraordinary. I had to take the time to write this review because they deserve to know how much their kindness meant to me and my family. I'm actually writing this review on a Saturday which should tell you just how much I miss them! Came on a Thursday for some trivia and enjoyed the food while we were there. I was able to secure a reservation day of for a party of 3. We split a deluxe sixer, shaved brussel sprouts salad, and jumbo nacho fries. The pizza was thick and crispy; we were definitely full after those three dishes. Visited here on trivia Thursdays and don't plan to return. The food itself was quite good, but somehow it's slightly better at the upper east side location. The service was a mess. We were there for a bit over two hours for trivia and the server only came back once to ask if we wanted more drinks when we were clearly out and would have happily ordered more. They never once came to fill our water pitcher after it was emptied immediately upon filling our four glasses. I also witnessed the bartender blowing his nose behind the bar and not washing his hands which was just so unsanitary. There are much better spots to play trivia in nyc and unfortunately I can't recommend this one. read more

It got more crowded by the time we left which was getting close to dinner time. My friend and I split Le Big Matt Burger and the MVP pizza. My friend definitely enjoyed the burger more than me. It's not something I'd necessarily order again. The fries were great though! I preferred the pizza much more! I'm becoming more and more of a fan of Detroit style pizza. Of go back to try others. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich to go. I wasn't crazy about it. The chicken had an odd flavor to it and I found the sandwich overall to be dry, needed more sauce and cheese. read more

We made a reservation for Friday night but didn't have to as it was pretty empty. We ordered the burger and a pizza that had ricotta, sausage, and a few other things (forgetting the name). Both were good, and the ricotta on the pizza really added to the taste. The burger and waffle fries (super crispy but a little too seasoned) were good too, but I remember Emily's burger being better. We did order the Brussel sprouts salad too and apparently there was a mix up with the dressing because it tasted extremely salty. Met some people for dinner before an oof Broadway play. Not much around that when I found this place.. Pizza was very good and the staff were friendly. The waiter let us know that I was happy hour and we all ordered drinks. When he brought our meals he asked if we wanted another round and we all said yes. Little did we know and the waiter did not tell us that happy hour had ended. We were shocked when got the bill and that the second round was almost double. We spoke to the waiter and asked him since HH had ended and that he fails to mention that we would like the HH price. He said he would check but did not think he could do anything. This is specifically a review of the Emmy Squared Pizza for takeout. I've been to both main Emily's locations (West Village and Brooklyn) and absolutely love the pizza and the burger. For people that love American food, this chain (?) absolutely hits the spot. But this review is specifically for the takeout pizza. I've had the colony in the restaurant before but this time I got it for takeout. I ordered online, showed up in time, and the pizza was ready. I was in and out in a minute. I got home and scarfed down the entire pie (but kinda wanted to die afterwards). I love how crispy the crust is, and it really hits the spot when you want more of a thick crust pizza. I used to be such a big fan of Emmy squared, often dining here multiple times a month. However, it seems like the quality of all the food has gone down significantly the past year. The burger used to be one of NYC's best, has now become one of my least favorites. The Caesar salad used to be incredibly flavorful with anchovies, and now tastes like it came from a grocery store pre-packaged salad. The fried chicken bites used to be delightful with this amazing tangy ranch-like sauce, but now taste like cardboard. Where did all the tenderness and crispy breading go? The pizza is also no longer the buttery crispy goodness I used to dream of. The tomato sauce feels like it overwhelms all other flavors to the point where I feel like I'm eating stale bread sticks with tomato sauce. First off: we thoroughly enjoyed the garlic sticks - the bread was spongy and cheesy, and the accompanying marinara sauce was so yummy. The salad was well-balanced, and the pizza was pretty good and very saucy. My friend noticed that the crust of the pizza was similar to the garlic sticks, but that didn't take away from the pizza at all. The location had a lot of seating, so definitely a good spot for large groups of friends. Favorite square pizza! Out of all their locations this one is my favorite. The workers are nice, the food is good, and a lot of seating inside. The pizza is so fresh and the dough is good. Had dinner here on Saturday night prior to heading to Lincoln Center for the Philharmonic. My fiancé has always eaten at the West Village location and this was my first time ever trying their pizza. The UWS location is much bigger than the WV one. We had a 5:30 pm reservation but due to traffic, we didn't arrive until closer to 6 pm. Even after waiting to eat the burger, the bun was not soggy and held its shape. Double stack grass fed beef patties with American cheese, savory sauce, greens and pickles on a pretzel bun.
