Dr Pechak is good, but Ms Pechak handles billing, manages and trains staff. I was required to prepay thousands for implant . After pulling my tooth, while waiting for next step to be scheduled, she terminated my treatment. This is what happened. I was unhappy with one staff person X. But I assumed I would not have much continued interaction as she was the billing and intake person who presented the individual expenses. So I did not complain. Unfortunately I had 2 more bad experiences with X. One re scheduling cleaning (totally separate costs and billing from the implant). I cancelled, was expecting return call. Unfortunately X was in the loop and she lied, made up excuses. So Ms P called me. She asked and I told her, in detail, step by step, about my bad experiences with X. She lost it. Turns out she trains the staff. She was deeply offended and started yelling and gaslighting me. "That didn't happen", "that couldn't have happened", " I can tell by your attitude on this phone call that you are just making it up". Are you kidding me? I was stunned. These are the things that "could not have happened" during first encounter with X: 1) I asked X to lower her voice as she was talking really loudly in a small room 2) she handed me stack of papers to sign. I asked her questions about some of the expenses, she became impatient, got up and stood over me. 3) she started to pull papers away as I was signing but was impatient and pulled away papers before I could finish my signature. 4) she made it clear that I needed to sign everything that day. At this point it was clear to me that I needed to take home this stack of papers and review before signing. She told me if I signed everything that day the office would provide me, for very low cost, 2 anti anxiety pills for implant procedure. Otherwise they would cost me over $100. 5) I immediately pulled up Goodrx, saw they were less than $10 and her response was "you can't trust Goodrx". I took papers home, signed, brought in next day. At end of this phone call Ms P abruptly terminated my implant treatmentl. THEN she sent me: 6) Letter stating it was MY decision to terminate 7) check for $300 when they had over $1,000 of my prepayment $. In Santa Clara county this is business fraud. Have contacted SCC district attorney, SALA elder law help, and am finalizing on line complaint to DA office. Bottom line DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this practice. I am leaving this review for 2nd time because I dont see my other review and fully expect it was removed. Read other negative reviews re billing. I was invited to come in for a consultation. The office manager repeatedly told me that the consultation will be complimentary at no charge to me. I provided my Delta PPO insurance and personal information. I went in for the consultation appointment. The dentist, Jochen P. Pechak took some x-rays and examined my teeth. He told me that I needed 3 implants. I was provided a treatment plan of almost twenty thousand dollars and a consultation fee of almost four hundred dollars. I explained to the billing person who is different than the office manager that I was assured that the consultation is complimentary and at no charge to me. I declined the treatment plan due to my budget. Then, they sent me the billing for my consultation claiming that Delta Dental reimbursement was insufficient to cover the consultation fees. The dentist office repeatedly called me and sent me to collection for the balance amount of $200+ dollars. DON;T TRUST THIS DENTIST AND THE OFFICE STAFF. THEY SUCKER YOU IN PRETENDING THE CONSULTATION IS COMPLIMENTARY AT NO CHARGE TO THE PATIENTS. !!!!!!!!!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT WILL CAUSE YOUR CREDIT RATING TO SUFFER. TL;DR - DON'T EVER GO SEE HIM!!!! I went to see Dr. Pechak for a pinhole consultation because I had some gum recession. I also knew I needed implants in the future because I still have two primary teeth, and the adult teeth never grew in as a kid. It wasn't an urgent matter but I knew I would need to do it sometime in the future. He started poking my gums and said I had a gum infection/disease around one of my primary teeth and I needed to do the implant soon. I never take advice from anyone without a second opinion. I saw two Perio docs and they said there was no infection in the gum or gum disease. I just got to clean a little better around the gumline. I was up for dental cleaning anyway, so I got my teeth cleaned very well. Long story short, Dr. Pechak was just trying to make money off of me by saying I had an infection so I would be forced to do the implant earlier with him. He is dishonest and just looking to get paid. Maybe he should give up one of those houses in Palo Alto or Monterey and live within his means, instead of trying to swindle people. Periodontist Jochen Pechak was extremely pleasant and knowledgable about the new Pinhole Surgical Procedure. Ive been to 5 different periodontists over the past 2 years and there is absolutely no comparison. His professionalism and really passionate caring methods cant be beat. He was patient, careful and I might say VERY confident in his skills with a side of humor attached. Others have tried to tell me the only way to fix gum recession was to do gum grafting without providing me an alternative method and quickly trying to collect up to $3000 from me for 2 teeth. The whole staff from the front desk to the dental assistants were so nice and helpful. I live in San Francisco and usually hate leaving the city BUT for these folks I do not mind driving to Palo Alto for my visits. The recovery was about 2 days and I was back to my normal self. Dr. Pechak and his team are fantastic - truly first class service with an exceptional outcome. I initially came in for a second opinion after my original periodontist had proposed expensive and painful traditional periodontal flap surgery on all four quadrants. Dr. Pechak's recommendation that I would be an ideal candidate for LANAP surgery almost sounded too good to be true, as the procedure had minimal recovery time and actually came in cheaper than the traditional surgical approach. However, 6 months later and the procedure was a resounding success, reducing pockets depths that were up 2 7, 8 and even 9mm, to healthy 2-3mm pockets, with very healthy surrounding gum tissue. Throughout the preparation, procedure, and post-surgical check-ins, Dr. Pechak and his team were careful to answer all my questions to set my concerns at ease, and were incredibly professional throughout. Dr. Pechak is a world class periodontist. He is one of 30 or so dentists -- worldwide -- that does some of the procedures he does. I come from a family of dentists. Dr. Pechak is very professional, tremendously skilled and very straightforward in his evaluation, his review of alternatives and recommendations. I never had a chance to see if Dr. Pechak was the "rated #1 implant specialist" because of the bewildering customer service I received. Following a friend's recommendation, I made an appointment with Dr. Pechak to replace a loose Alpha Bio implant. Upon my arrival Doctor examined my problem and offered a treatment plan, which I accepted. Dr. Pechak requested some specific information from my primary dentist in Israel in order to prepare for the procedure. He received this information within a few days. Fully confident that I would get help I waited for a week, then another week and another. When there was no call from Dr. Pechak, I went to his office, where Doctor Pechak asked me to buy a tool on EBay. I connected with the Israeli clinic to verify the type of a tool Dr. Pechak had requested I buy. They warned me not to purchase it from a private party on EBay, but from an authorized dealer. Also they provided me with information that the Israeli Alpha Bio system is identical to the American implant system, Zimmer and the doctor can use his own Zimmer tool. I was glad to get such a simple solution. However, my attempt to communicate with Dr. Pechak about this fact had a zero result. Soon after, my problem became worse. I called multiple times and spoke with Nevie, Britnie, Carol, Jackie, and Clarisa. All of the receptionists asked me to explain the whole story from the beginning. Then they promised to call me back, which never happened.  Finally I decided to make an appointment and personally explain to the doctor that his Zimmer tool is universal. After telling my story again, the receptionist put me on long hold. A new person Maya came on the line and demanded I "to stop bothering her team" and instead "go back to Malaysia or Thailand to unscrew your problem".  I asked her to please let me talk with the Doctor. She responded: "my dear, Doctor is busy now and after he finishes he has to go and play with his kids " and that no appointment will be scheduled even if I am suffering with pain because I have to buy a tool from eBay first.  To my question which tool, she said, "just Google it!" Dr Pechak is an absolute master, skilled beyond belief, with decades of experience and the very latest techniques. I would not hesitate, there is no-one better in U.S, forget Silicon Valley. I have just completed my 5mo x2 procedures for gum graft. I consider offices that do not follow his state-of-the-art techniques to be living in the past. He is by far one of the very best doctors I have ever experienced. I should start by saying I am very fussy and particular. I have a moderate pain tolerance, I suffer from anxiety before a treatment and research well before I take the chance on any new doctor. I went to him with severe recession and I specifically wanted to have pinhole technique. I had already had traditional graft once before on one-side and was unhappy, having had an extremely difficult recovery. I pinned my hopes on him and he delivered what I wanted, but rightfully outlined that I needed the traditional grafting method on the top and was eligible for pinhole on the bottom. He made a plan to treat both sides of my mouth, in two stages, over 5 months apart. I am now 5 days post my second surgery in writing and I could not be happier. He is straightforward, direct and honest. He photographs everything, walks you through and explains everything and puts you at ease. It was important for me to write this after the second surgery so I could test the consistency and the recovery. Unlike other doctors, he does not cut and stitch the palette (which is a nightmare). Instead, he makes a precise, very small incision on the side that the tissue is being grafted from in roof and then places a plastic mouth guard over the entire roof (made to measure) - not one suture in roof! This plastic guard sits there for 24 hours after surgery. You simply pop it off 24 hours later, and you are healed. To expedite this, they take blood and centrifuge it and add it to the wound during surgery. You will not believe how quickly you heal. After 24 hours, you can go about your business. Even drinking and eating=zero irritation. Anywhere else, lives in the past and is dated if they do not do it like this when the tech is available!! The pinhole is equally amazing. He adds stitches to the pinhole surgery, so there is a small modification to the Chao technique - which I love! This is even easier than the traditional graft - just collagen filled in through a small hole. Very little pain or discomfort. The sutures help to keep it in place and I have achieved results that are fantastic! If you qualify for this, have it done!! Dr Pechak will assess as needed. I have the traditional graft + pinhole done in one session (having now had it done twice). Both times, the consistency of the surgery was amazing. I have healed beautifully, I was back to work after a couple of days of rest, and I had controlled swelling. The instructions are clear and concise. Finally, Dr Pechak and his entire staff care - deeply - that you have good results, you heal, you feel happy and are comfortable. I consider them to be caregivers, not just a doctors office. Clarissa who deals with your insurance is unbelievable at her job - she is diligent, kind, caring, makes sure all your paperwork is in order and explains everything like a pro. She is fantastic and has been a rock for me through the process. Nidhi who runs the front desk is again so sweet, kind and attentive to your needs. When you arrive, they greet you so warmly - it makes all the difference to have them hold your hand through this process! You realize that its not just about the doctor but their entire team. Nurses, equally fantastic and chat with you, talk you through everything and settle you in nicely. DO NOT THINK TWICE, you will not find better I promise you that! read more

Dr. Pechak did a fantastic job with the gum grafting procedure that I needed, and was extremely courteous, friendly, and professional throughout. He really walked me through everything they were doing, even during the surgery, making me feel both calm and safe. The actual surgery was painless and I only needed a few ibuprofen the days after, really didn't feel any pain at all! Follow-up appointments to check on my gum were quick and painless, and I felt well-cared for. His staff are just as great as he is. The receptionists and assistants are incredibly friendly and helpful! It was actually a pleasant experience going in for the surgery and the follow-ups! As a student without any family nearby, they really made me feel at home and comfortable. Overall, Dr. Pechak and his staff are deserving of more than 5 stars. Such a quick and painless surgery, and they were all genuinely interested in my well-being and how I was doing. I went to the Sunnyvale office for a teeth cleaning today. After the cleaning I waited 20 minutes for the Dr. Exam which lasted less than 10 minutes. The cleaning cost $157.00 which I thought was reasonable but the Dr. exam was less than 10 minute and the charge was $164.00 Total ripoff and I won't be going back ever again. read more

I hpad very bad experience for pinhole procedure from rough performance done by Dr. Pechak. He was not gentle as I thought. It was a nightmare for me than I thought it was .My face got swollen for a week and the pain increased my anxiety but the result was not satisfied. It took longer to heal than traditional gum graft. Dr Pechak did gum graft surgery in preparation for implants. I was extremely surprised at how well it went, with minimal discomfort . Only took a couple of ibuprofen and didn't need any of the pain Meds. He and the entire staff make you feel at ease and clearly communicate what they are doing and what to expect the next few days. I hope the bone graft and implant phase go as smoothly. I was diagnosed by Jochen Pechak (at the office of Terry Fiori at Stanford) to have an infection and gum disease. He told me i needed to have laser surgery and risked bone loss. I called three times to schedule the surgery and my call was not returned. After several more weeks i called the office to find Dr. Pechak left Fiori's office to set up a private practice in Sunnyvale.. I went to a different peridontist in Palo Alto as the diagnosis seemed cursory and incorrect and I was told that Dr. Pechak was paid for his "production." I was told my a second, reputable peridontist i did NOT need surgery, there was no infection nor gum disease. I needed a root canal. Had I been able to schedule surgery it would NOT have resolved my problem. I am currently disputing the charge for a misdiagnosis and have complained of a lack of professionalism and rude treatment by the receptionist. I will pay their invoice but would not recommend this office. If I could give a ZERO STAR i would. read more
