The service department is awful. I brought my vehicle in for a clunking noise when I hit bumps. A service rep heard the noise. The mechanic never fixed it. When I pulled out of the lot it continued to make the noise. In all fairness to Basil my review is strictly regarding the poor service from the service department. Avoid at All Costs a friend purchased 2013 Suburban that has an major electronic issue All lights flicker door locks flutter off and on. Lost power and steering locks up( this is a major Safety issue someone will die if this happens on a highway) and would not restart had it towed back Basil cannot duplicate problem so they said come pick up The problem is not resolved and GM headquarters said they never heard of this issue There is recalls on this exact issue and youtube electrical problems and you can see for yourself Needless to say Basil wont take their vehicle back it is not road worthy They cant fix it but they want hom to come get it off their lot Would you ? Honestly would any Rep from GM let their wife or children get in this unfixed vehicle and drive down the highway ? I can Guarentee no one will stand behind their product. Buyer Beware. read more

We bought a used 2008 Ford Escape in November 2018. When the car was delivered to us it was filthy inside, we were then told 1 of the key fobs doesn't even work, the front windshield still had a chip in it that was supposed to be fixed. In March 2019 the transmission went at 42xxx miles. It was replaced by a used transmission that had 73xxx miles on it. Today July 1, 2019 the transmission fluid is leaking and the vehicle is making a very loud noise again. We got a real lemon. We will never buy another vehicle from Joe Basil again. read more

I was sent over from Robert basil who I had purchased vehicles from before to look for a zr2. This place is ran nothing like the other one . I had two bad experiences from the start the salesman that I was set up took three days to get an appraisal. I decided to drive to the dealer myself spent about an hour and got nowhere . Was told the units I wanted were sold . Two days later I went online and shows one of the ones I want available so I called and got someone who checked and confirmed they just had two that people backed out of and we're available. Also spoke with sales manager who confirmed for me they were .so the next morning I called to check before going and once again it was confirmed still there . I got there and worked with a new salesman and got told the complete opposite . The one was not what I was told it was and the other was apparently not available ? . I purchased my 2013 Chevy Volt from Basil Chevrolet in December 2015. From my home in California, I called John Kramer to confirm the details I found online. I was very nervous at the thought of buying a car 3,000 miles away with out personally inspecting or test driving the car. John helped me overcome those fears easily. John knew that I was in California and couldn't call him during regular east coast hours so he made himself available to me after hours and also on his days off. I loved my customer service and I love my car. John was honest in the negotiations. At one point after the negotiations, John alerted me that the car did not have a backup camera (which was advertised). He acknowledged the mistake and immediately began working on installing the camera at no additional cost to me. That's what I call HONEST and DOING THE RIGHT THING. When my car arrived in California, I was happier than Donald Trump dragging Obama through the mud. It was exactly like John said it would be except it was missing a second key. John FedEx'd me a new key (no charge) soon after and completed our transaction. I highly recommend using John Kramer at Basil Chevrolet. Came to this location for a simple oil changed. I asked for a time estimate, they told me 30 minutes, no more than an hour. I have been waiting, still waiting, for 4 hours. Every 30 minutes I ask for I a shuttle to drive me home, since they are not even close, they guys keeps telling me the car is 5 minutes away from being done. I apologize for this will be a long winded review. Starting from the initial cold call I received from Joe Basil I could tell something was not quite right. I had been in the market for a Silverado in 2015 and purchased from Joe Basil. This being my first new car purchase I didn't really know what to expect. I've only herd the horrors of car salesmen. The experience wasn't too bad although the salesmen Glenn Colton tried to pull a shot by removing the running boards on the truck to give me a cheaper price but didn't tell me until we sat down with the sales manager. "SNEAKY TACTIC" I thought. After a back n forth I purchased the truck. Fast forward to June 2017 my wife needed an SUV. The Joe Basil sales associate called me and said " your in luck the SUV you like is being offered at 0% APR this month". I said great I'll give them another try and head down to see their inventory. When we came in the salesman asked what the other dealers were giving me for a trade on my old vehicle. When we declined to tell him he looked at my wife and said "why do you have an attitude"!!! I was speechless. So I immediately told the manager and they apologized and brought us a new salesman. So we pick a vehicle and start to talk numbers and they finally tell me "THERE REALLY IS NO 0% APR OFFER. WE JUST SAID THAT TO GET YOU IN". I asked for my keys and stormed out enraged. Thanks for wasting my time and having me drive all the way to Depew from Niagara Falls. Then they had the audacity to call a month later and ask if they could help me find a vehicle. Theyre all scammers and thieves. My vehicle was in for body work on the passenger side, work was shotty and has already rusted through (I always wash my vehicle and have no rust anywhere else) but above all many personal belongings are missing from the vehicle. Which were noticed immediately upon entering my vehicle. I walked back into the autoshop to speak to a manager but was told by any and everyone I spoke with that they don't employ people that steal. Bought a 2013 suburban listed $25,500 they knocked off $500 so now were at $25,000 gave them two trucks a Tahoe and blazer not so good shape they gave $1,300 so now were at $23,700 time to bargain told $22,000 you got a deal when all said in done I payed a little over $24,000 you can see they owe me $300 when I discovered this they did nothing knowing the deal was $22,000 then over charge $300 and no return who buys a truck for the price they see not such a great deal was it True story Dissatisfied Today I will contact more people to ensure I did not get great deal I got a great screw read more

Recently bought a car from their resale lot. Our rep, Steve, was very nice and helpful! Our finance guy Mike was awesome as well. Took a star off for them being less than forthcoming on the 'dings' on the car (few scratches I found after purchase) but it's more my fault for not looking throughly. I would recommend for anyone looking to buy a car to check them out. But, I would recommend using a third party site to scope out better deals than walking in from the street (my car had an additional cyber sale) read more

Traveling east in my new leased car from Reno,NV Oil changes and tire rotation is a requirement so I yelp oil change and off I go to Basil Chevy in Depew, NY Service guy wants to upsell a bunch of useless stuff. I decline as I'll be turning the car in soon. The "quick" service turns into 1.5 hours of waiting! They needed the wheel lock which I supply. Included on the receipt is "free car wash with every service. I'm about of towner so I don't know this as I sign about 6 papers for the service writer and proceed to my car. Whoops, where's the wheel lock ? Four guys are now running around looking for it so I can leave. After about 10 minutes they find it, It was left on the lug nut on the right front wheel. Nice! By this time I'm running late and leave. As I finally get a chance to look things over I discover. There's spilled oil all over the front cowling. Not just a few drops but 4 paper towels full. No free car wash was offered. Also they added a additional $ 8.31 for "fuel system treatment" exactly what I told them NOT to do. I only had less than 1/4 tank of gas, it's supposed to be added to a full tank! And besides I specifically declined that add on. So I call the place, 5 times I'm transferred to the wrong person. Finally I ask for the Dealership Mgr. You guessed it "Leave a message" Next day Mgr called. Tried to explain fuzzy math charge. Nice that he called. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! do not waste your time or money! They say "sign and drive" but It took us 3 days to buy our vehicles. They changed prices multiple times on us the and salesmen and finance people where very rude and Unaccommodating. On top of all that they only gave us one set of keys with our vehicle we purchased! When we called to see if we could get another set they basically said we have to pay for a new set our selves even though they never gave us a spare!! We wanted to talk to the manager and he was dismissive and told us he would "call us back" ..... he never did. They clearly only care about getting more money out of you. There must be idiots working in the computer/records department. Every time a family member gets service done they call and text me about. Told them to fix it a few times and nothing. And I've never owned a shitty Impala. They do have a lot of good sales people though. Some good deals if you keep an eye out. I bought a used Mercedes Benz for about $27.000. It was such an ordeal. I went there several times and every visit took at least 1 hour. Once I picked the car I liked, I asked about fixing four issues I found: 1) Scratches on the hood; sales person said they would fix it. 2) Check engine light was on; sales person said they would fix it. This has been a problem since I bought the car. 3) Many chips in the windshield, sales rep said they would fix it. 4) Car pulls to the right after about 50 feet, sales person said, they would fix it. I added the additional insurance, laser measured floor mats and the some wax coating for the bottom of the car. We negotiated a monthly rate and when we went to the financial person, he had a higher monthly rate. I asked for the sales person and he said he could not do anything about the higher rate. What?! At the day of pickup the scratches were still there, the engine light did not come on, the car still pulled to the right, and the chips in the windshield have been patched up. They already made an appointment for the pulling to the right with Mercedes Benz of Buffalo. I asked if they had the second key and the sales person said, they only got one key and it would be about $450 to make a copy. I was not interested in a second key for $450 bucks. FYI, five weeks later I got the original second key in the mail. On the next day as soon as I started the car, the engine light came on again, as if somebody just cleared out the error code with a diagnostic tool without actually fixing it. I went back to Basil Chevrolet and it took almost three weeks for them to get it back to me. They had to bring it to Mercedes Benz of Buffalo to have it fixed. After a few months, the engine light came on again, same problem! I called Basil, explained, and asked what I have to do in order to get it fixed. Also mentioned I have the insurance with vanishing deductible (meaning no $100 deductible for me). They told me to drop it off at Benz in Buffalo, and I will get a loaner from Benz for the duration. Arrived at Benz at 7:30am, they did not know of any arrangement nor anything about a loaner. Turns out I should have went to Basil first to assess the issue and have them try to fix it and have to make sure they have a loaner available. A few months after purchase, the windshield cracked as well and needed full replacement! Last week the check engine light came on again! I had a technician check it and it is the same issue as before! Every time I step in this car I think about the bad experience I had buying it. I cannot wait to get rid of it. At no point of time did they ever try to make things right. The sales counselor raved about having in house technicians skilled in fixing imports. That definitely is not true for Mercedes Benz, since they had to send it to Mercedes Benz every time. Looks like a $30.000 lemon! Thank you, Basil! read more

Had another terrible experience at the Joe Basil Oil change place on Transit. My daughter who is 20 was told by her father, that works on cars and has 2 race cars...so he is mechanically knowledgeable, that she needed a tire alignment. She walked into this facility and told Matt that she needed a tire alignment. He corrected her and said "you mean wheel alignment" loud enough so the entire store can hear him. If you notice on their web site under Service Center they refer to alignments as "Tire Alignments" He then went on asking and making condescending comments to her so she just walked out. He made her feel extremely uncomfortable and was rude. I sent her there because it is a local facility but this was the last time anyone in my family will walk in there. We have 7 vehicles between all of us. read more

Service department seems shady. Especially the manager. Always trying to find more things wrong with your car to run up your bill. There were things I recently had repaired in the past that they were unaware of and here they are trying to tell me they need to replaced or repaired. Of course I went back to the garage who repaired what they claimed was broken and they stood by their work and told me to steer clear of Basil's service department. They either sabotage your car to create repairs or think I am stupid. Either way consumers should be aware to question and get second opinions because any good garage can tell if something was tampered with. read more

Another update I spoke to the service Manager Today and still got the same crap just to drive it more. Today it was making were noises like something electronic was working without the key even in the ignition and then went I started it up after work the stereo display screen was black and did not turn on for nearly a minute. There is something definitely wrong with the Truck maybe even the on board computer is bad? but if I keep driving it will magically fix itself? Also they do not seem to want to try and fix it so I can get a year waiver through the state they just want me to go to hell I guess? read more

Started at 4:30 on a Thursday evening. Went for their "We will lower your current auto payment." promo. Told them our situation, test drove a great car, a 2014 Chevy Cruze. Loved it! Then here comes the time to sit and do the financing. Told them what my current payment was, they came back with a payment that was $75.00 more a month!! WHAT!?! Ok, went down to a lease (not happy with a lease) but gonna try. After 2 or 3 more payments that were still higher then my current one, We got to a decent payment. that was $15.00 below my current one. No money down!! It took 3 1/2 hrs. to come up to this. It was a lease and it was for a pretty much a bare bone Chevy Cruze (Manual shift, no real extras like chrome rims or that) but I was fine with that. 8:15 pm, told financing was good, signed papers with finance person. They then told me they would have to go to their Basil warehouse (at another location) to get my car. Told to hang around if I wanted to see it. COOL!! Excited! Well 9:00 comes around, told, not sure what happen. Salesman said to go home and wait for his call at around 10 in the morning. Well seeing we only live 2 mins. from dealership, we decided to go down their and check out my new car and wait for whatever. So we did. Got there and no car was in sight. Told that they were having trouble with the financing and to come back later.! WHAT!?!? They told me it was all set the last evening. Well we left, confused. After a couple hours had passed, we decided to go back and put some pressure on them. Got there at 1:00 pm. Asked where my car was so I could at least look at it and told it was still at warehouse!! Again, WHAT!?! They lied. But then again, this is a car salesman, no wonder where they get that car salesman reputation! from. I was getting pissed, Well after another hour, our salesman came up to us and said we now needed $2300.00 down and they couldn't do anything more for us!! Well our salesman knew from the start that I was on SSDI and my monthly SSDI payment wasn't even close to that, along with my wife's income, it would be impossible. First, the website appointment process is TERRIBLE! And this is the SECOND time we have experienced issues with it! Second, the cost of a new muffler.....are you kidding? Almost $1000!!!! We drive a Chevy, NOT a Mercedes. People laugh when you say you go to the dealer. But we've always felt that they are the experts and it's a good paper trail for the next auto purchase. I went on their website and found a great price on a Chevy Equinox LTZ. I inquired online whether or not it was there. I received a call back and the woman confirmed it was in stock still. My wife and I drove for 2 hours to come to this dealership to see it. The car was not the LTZ, it was the LT. When I pointed it out they salesperson acted like it wasn't a big deal. I asked what the price would be when correctly booked as they were advertising a higher end model... The wouldn't lower the price. The car had two areas where someone had hit it on the dealership, the back windshield wiper was missing and the tires were bald. Avoid this dealership; they obviously advertise cars that they do not have in stock in hopes to bait and switch. I looked at 2 other cars to see If there was anything that interest me... the other two also had body damage... no thanks. read more

One of the worst body shops you could possibly go to. After 9 attempts to deliver a car that was 4 months old at the time post deer hit I finally accepted the car and realized they weren't going to be able to do any better. The car to date still has blemishes from front to back and the work they did was on the front right. No quality control and poor workmanship. Anything that was pointed out after the fact was "warrantied" as opposed to going thru insurance. Perhaps to shield poor quality work from the insurance company. Also was referred to their shop by a customer who was "supposedly" to receive a referral check... One month later no check. I will say they have a great repair shop as well as an awesome sales team, but stay away from buffalos "best" bodyshop. read more

My first car lease was through Joe Basil on Transit Rd. in Depew. I was very happy with the deal that I got on my lease and have been happy for the past ~2 years. Last night I received a call that they would like to buy my lease back, so they wanted to bring me in to look at new cars.... Today I come in for my appointment, and they begin showing me a few different models, including a side by side comparison, test drive, etc. However, when it comes time to crunch the numbers, it turns out "it wasn't worth buying back my lease." So, on top of the cost of a new lease, I would be adding in the remaining old lease payments (recall from above, they wanted me to come in to buy back my lease....) The manager that I spoke to was extremely insensitive and brushed my frustrations off. My car is in excellent condition, and they were aware of my lease structure, so if the true problem was that there were too many remaining payments on the lease *as they claimed*, then what was the point of me coming in?! You guessed it - to suck more money out of my pockets. Every business needs to worry about a bottom line, but its weasel behavior like this that makes a bad name for car dealerships. Needless to say, when my lease comes to an end, so will my business with Joe Basil. read more

Convinced my wife to replace pads and rotors all the way around on brakes that were wear strip whining just two days ago. By the time I find out about it, it's $800+ out the window for far and away the most expensive brake job one of my cars has ever had(parts for this available to the consumer market for $200-350, much more than it'll cost them for original parts). Everyone there was very informative and willing to help. after some negation i got the vehicle for a very good price, and they also gave me a good amount for my trade in. I also purchased some accessories to go on the truck , i made an apportionment dropped the truck off and is was ready the same day and everything was installed perfect. To do (admittedly) serious work, I was informed that the earliest appointment to bring my car in was a month and a half away. On the date (a Monday) I dropped off my car and told them that the latest I could pick it back up was Friday morning, OK, no problem. Got a call Tuesday saying they hadn't looked at it yet. Got a call Wed morning saying they had not seen it but it would go up that day. I called THEM on Thursday to be told that they had not looked at it AT ALL and it there would be zero chance they would see it before Friday. It is unacceptable to not receive a call Wednesday night or Thursday. They made a series of excuses and admitted that they should have called me. On top of that, I entered my vehicle and drove away to find a broken pair of my sunglasses in the car - no information about that at all! Apparently, someone had dropped in with a "check engine light" on, and that job took a lot longer. EXCUSE ME - but I had an actual appointment! This was the 2nd out of two poor service calls to Joe Basil and I will NEVER be returning. I advise you to go to West Herr. Or, don't take my word for it, but make sure you have a few weeks to enjoy an uncomfortable loaner car. read more

Let me just start by saying the sales woman we were dealing with was very sweet and followed up after we left. Second positive to the dealership is they did seem to have a range of vehicles in all models/trims. Negative: Drove close to 2 hours out to the dealership after being told over the phone we could get a certain deal just to get turned down after traveling the 2 hrs. Ended up going elsewhere and got into the vehicle I went here for and in my price range. read more

Over the last three years our daughter has had numerous car accidents and each time, Joe Basil fixed her cars. They did a wonderful job with the paint matching, replacing items as needed, etc. The length of time to fix the issues varied from 5 days to almost 2 weeks. (they said there was a trucking strike and they were waiting for parts). Our most recent trip there was due to a dead battery. Had to have the car towed. Took them two days to get to the car, then they charged us $79 to diagnose the issue, $119 for the battery, PLUS installation. I would go here for accident repairs, but not for everyday stuff. read more
