To do (admittedly) serious work, I was informed that the earliest appointment to bring my car in was a month and a half away. On the date (a Monday) I dropped off my car and told them that the latest I could pick it back up was Friday morning, OK, no problem. Got a call Tuesday saying they hadn't looked at it yet. Got a call Wed morning saying they had not seen it but it would go up that day. I called THEM on Thursday to be told that they had not looked at it AT ALL and it there would be zero chance they would see it before Friday. It is unacceptable to not receive a call Wednesday night or Thursday. They made a series of excuses and admitted that they should have called me. On top of that, I entered my vehicle and drove away to find a broken pair of my sunglasses in the car - no information about that at all! Apparently, someone had dropped in with a "check engine light" on, and that job took a lot longer. EXCUSE ME - but I had an actual appointment! This was the 2nd out of two poor service calls to Joe Basil and I will NEVER be returning. I advise you to go to West Herr. Or, don't take my word for it, but make sure you have a few weeks to enjoy an uncomfortable loaner car. read more

Over the last three years our daughter has had numerous car accidents and each time, Joe Basil fixed her cars. They did a wonderful job with the paint matching, replacing items as needed, etc. The length of time to fix the issues varied from 5 days to almost 2 weeks. (they said there was a trucking strike and they were waiting for parts). Our most recent trip there was due to a dead battery. Had to have the car towed. Took them two days to get to the car, then they charged us $79 to diagnose the issue, $119 for the battery, PLUS installation. I would go here for accident repairs, but not for everyday stuff. read more

They do not offer you what KBB says your vehicle is worth in a trade-in. You "HAVE" to keep pushing until they finally eventually do. They offer you even less on a lower priced used vehicle because of some sort of "STRUCTURE" thing. The prices they have,at least on the used vehicle line are firm. They do not want to come down 1 penny on those prices. Bottom line is to keep haggling.Diane Domogala was my sales consultant. for my purchase. She is professional and "USER" friendly. In other words she will give that extra mile in working with you for the best deal. Even after the deal is done she will still give 100% for you. As with everything, always check the numbers in finance, especially the bottom line purchase price. The "engines for life" they give you is a plus as well as buying a vehicle that is certified or having the vehicle certified(12,000 or 12 month bumper to bumper warranty and 2year maintenance Oil and tire rotation).Never be in a hurry and stick to your guns. We recently leased a 2018 Chevy Traverse LT from Joe Basil Chevrolet and I could not have been happier with my experience. Matt Newton (our sales associate) was fantastic to deal with! I can't stand pushy and disingenuous sales people that one might find at a car dealership but Matt's approach was a breath of fresh air. There were no games or bait and switch when we settled on a price. The negotiation process was painless and felt more like a friendly conversation than the usual stressful back and forth only to be disappointed. The sales manager Rob was also great to deal with and came up to personally thank me for my business and choosing Joe Basil. What impressed me most about Rob was when we came up with an agreed upon price for the vehicle we wanted, he gave Matt all of the credit for working it out for us. It's nice to see good management in action. The dealership was clean and well laid out. Every member of the Joe Basil team that I encountered was warm and friendly. Okay, so I took my Chevy Cobalt here because the dealership I bought my car from recommended them. I needed to have my window motors fixed, the front arm control bushings replaced and a new key fob. Took them a little longer than I would have liked, but with all the work needed, it made sense. They gave me a ride home and picked me up to take me back so I could pick up my car. They spent half an hour on the phone with my warranty company and called to keep me updated. So far I have no complaints other than the 45 minute drive, but it's a lot better than Paddock and Fucillo Chevrolet in Grand Island. :) read more

I was shocked at the poor service I got from Joe Basil Chevrolet. They always say customer service is most important to them but that was not my experience. The salesman never returned my calls. I finally had to reach out to the sales manager and he did talk with me but did not call me back with the information he said he would find out. I was only given one key and when they would not give me a second key I had to purchase one on my own. They then could not get it to program and it did not work and yet I still had to pay for the key. The car did not come with cruise control so I had to have it installed and was never told it wouldn't be the factory issued one but another kind that is installed on the side of my steering wheel which I can't even see through my steering wheel. I was told anytime I drop the car off I would be given a loaner. That was not honored. I'm told now it's only for repairs and not an installation. I never would have bought a car without cruise control and that's on me that I never checked it ahead of time but who sells cars with no cruise control these days?? I've never bought a car without it so never thought to even look for it until afterwards. I feel this should have been disclosed to me. However aside from that it's the lack of caring and the not getting back to me that is troublesome. I will never buy from them again and will tell others not too if they expect good customer service. My husband bought from Joe Basil Ford and their customer service has been exceptional that is why we wanted to buy from the franchise again but apparently they are not all the same! I tried to look at a vehicle that the dealership listed online, because I know that many of these vehicles either don't exist or sell quickly I used the "check availability " option and was contacted by the sales department stating that the vehicle was in fact, in stock, that was Monday afternoon. I made arrangements to see the vehicle Wednesday morning, drove to the dealership and when i asked to see the vehicle was told "oh that's sold" . This is what's known as fishing or a lost leader designed just to get people to the dealership and then steer them to something that actually exists. Bad way to do business, and a good way to discourage a potential customer and all of their friends. I have been in the auto business for over forty years and I am constantly asked for my opinion about dealerships when friends are looking to purchase a vehicle. Can you guess which dealership has just gone to the bottom of the list? The management is responsible for the way its employees conduct business and this practice must be condoned or it wouldn't happen. It was either a very good Tuesday at the used car department or the person that contacted me Monday afternoon simply lied. either way I and my friends that can be convinced will not do business this way with anyone. Absolutely awful experience getting service on my 05 Corvette. Drop it off on a Tuesday night for a Wednesday appoint for a service column lock warning. Next day get a call to give me an update of no update but someone will call me later in the day when car is done. No call, so I call at 530 and am put on endless hold. Call back in the morning and am told someone will call me back in hour with info. So at 2 I realize no one is going to call me. Call them only to find out they accidently ran the battery down on the car and cleared all the codes so they can not diagnose the problem. Tell me I have to come get the car and drive it until the code comes back. At what point were they going to call me? Wasted two days for no reason. Go pick up the car and the service sheet says nothing about them draining the battery and clearing the codes. Just that they couldn't replicate the problem and bring it back when it happens again. The manual transmission C6 corvettes must be placed into reverse to actually shut the car off. If not the car stays in accessory mode, which is how the battery died. I would have figured a chevy dealer would have known this. The car even gives you warnings on the display if you try to shut the car down in any other gear than reverse. They even had to audacity to tell me they took care of the bill. The bill for what killing the battery and and not being able to diagnose the problem because of it? read more

They sold me a car that was slow to start by stating it "sat awhile" and it had 110 point inspection and everything was fine. Beautiful car. Great price. Well, a couple weeks in the car started leaving me stranded. I chalked it up to me draining the battery somehow. I run a business and needed the newer vehicle for reliability reasons, so I didn't have time to rent a car while mine was in the shop(after just buying it with a 110 point inspection) so I dealt with it. Chevy sent me to Ford for a new battery. Ford said it wasn't the battery and I'd have to leave it with them and it was an electrical issue. I had a car in the shop for warranty work for over 5 months once, so this wasn't happening. I wanted Basil to buy it back from me, and they offered $3500 less than I paid for it. Meanwhile, I just spent 2 months thinking I was using the lift gate too much or draining the car from the USBs(the Ford tech told me cars weren't meant to charge earbuds overnight). I ended up trading the vehicle in and being over $12k upside down on my new vehicle, but at least it runs. read more

Took them over 8 hours to tell me my power steering lines were leaking. Simple parts take days to come in, leaving me without a truck for days on end. read more

SERVICE DEPARTMENT Leading up to my appointment, I received countless phone calls. However at first they were from some girl named Sarah who would leave thing vague such as 'we have to speak with you about an important matter regarding your appointment.' Yeah, she was just calling to confirm my appointment. So I called her back and left a message. Never heard back. So I emailed. Then she called me in a snotty tone said she called me back and left a message. No she didn't. Also, I need like ONE confirmation of my appointment. Not 3 different people calling and emailing me when I already spoke to someone. My sales woman Shannon also called her, which was very nice of her, but it seemed like the service department didn't want to deal with me and passed it off to her. I am sure Shannon has better things to do than to leave more messages on my phone, when I had already been playing phone tag with other random people. It's like no one has any idea what is going on there. I made an appointment online. That's it! Why is that so difficult for service to process? So I get there and the woman who helped me was polite. Typically, I hate having my car serviced here because the service men are rude. They do not acknowledge you or say hello when you walk in. They sit there talking about what they did over the weekend and sulk around like they hate their job. I get that customer service isn't always fun, but if you're going to work in it, put a smile on your face and at least GREET the customer that walks in and spends thousands of dollars. Then as always, my car wasn't washed when I left AND I asked if it would be when I got there. The only reason I purchased my car here is because it was closest to home and I didn't have a running car to travel further. I certainly won't make my next purchase from Basil, and most of that is due to how terrible the customer service is in the service department. read more

Don't do it... Run !!! Bought a used SUV - same night- didn't dicker and the wouldn't budge on the price..Even though I was told I had nearly perfect credit. They talked my husband into the undercoating (scam) and kept pushing for extended warranty.. Picked up the vehicle the next day- thurs night. Dropped if off for undercoating Friday night. Went to start the car on Sunday - DEAD in the garage. "But they gave it the special Joe Basil treatment and point system to make sure it was top notch". It gets even better... Due to the freezing cold and rain the night I bought it and picked it up I didn't roll down the window on the driver side. Friday on my way to work I roll the window down and it barely goes down. I mention this to them when I drop off my car Friday night for the undercoating and I hear " it's nothing a little 10 w 40 won't handle". Well after the car is towed to the dealer-the starter is gone -(I guess that wasn't on the point system). Then they call and tell us that the motor to the window is gone and we need to buy a new motor - Because they can't get the window up- oh and by the way, that's not covered under the lemon law- But if we would have bought the extended warranty that would have been covered. ARE you kidding me - the car isn't even in my possession for 72 hours and I have to repair a window for almost a $1000.00 dollars- That didn't even work when I bought it and it was not disclosed in the sale either. I picked it up on Sunday and the employee at the desk quickly processed everything and brought my car around to pick me up like a valet. They also rinsed off the car which was nice because it was covered in salt! First experience at a Basil dealership and I am very pleased. BEWARE!!! I have tried since Monday to purchase a 2009 Traverse from here and today I had to finally cancel. I came in with a clear title for my trade in as well as a dealer wire transfer from USAA. It started great they parade you around in a grand salesmanship style to get you feeling the love. Since Monday we were given the run around with excuse after excuse why we still did not have our car. We were encountered by rude arrogant behaviors from a few there that left us in dismay since we came to them so prepared. They constantly lied to us and changed their story until we had enough. So it is now Thursday and we still did not receive our SUV. They said they would deliver it Friday using the excuse that the funds weren't there yet. I called USAA and they stated that the funds were transferred electronically on Wednesday. They take no accountability for their actions and the GM is too afraid to even answer his phone. I have been dealing with Joe basil resale on transit red across from eastern hills mall for the last 10 years have always been a Joe basil fan because they always seem to meet and exceed my family needs but with my last deal with them just put a sour taste in my mouth....this is what happened traded in my Ford Focus for a 2012 chevy equinox the only reason I took the deal was they would refinance the deal in a year to keep my payments under 300.00 dollars a month come to find out when the time came to refinance my vehicle had a negative equity and the banks would not touch it had I known that in the beginning I would have kept my previous vehicle....it's like dangling a carrot in front of a horse and never giving it to him.....never again....also part if the deal was when I purchased the SUV I noticed it needed 4 tires they kept stringing me along each time I mentioned it and said they where within inspection regulations come to find out from another source that I definitely needed 4 new tires...they didn't want to replace them(basil) bc it would cost them money to do so....again another example of poor customer service....I have been in the customer service industry for over 40 years if I treated my customers this way I would have been fired a long time ago....basil just lost a customer for life. read more

I made an appointment for my usual oil change, but also to have the cooling system in my '11 Malibu checked, as I had noticed a grinding noise when switching the system into recirculation mode. The tech who took my car made note of my experience, and took care of everything, including arranging for the dealership's shuttle service (as I knew it would take some time to find and fix the problem). The work was all covered under warranty, and my oil change was free of charge, being a loyal Basil customer. The staff members were all very pleasant, and any issues with my Malibu were resolved. After many years of reliable service from my last truck I found myself in the position of buying a newer vehicle. I found a 2013 Silverado at Basil Chevy that was exactly what I was looking for online and went to see it in person. Lets start with the good. The salesmen were friendly and outgoing and laidback rather than pushy. We had the opportunity to work with both Matt and Zack who were both great. After looking at a few more vehicles we decided to purchase this truck. On Sunday June 26th we completed negotiated a fair price, completed the paperwork and left a deposit (which by the way we were informed does not hold the vehicle from being sold so what exactly is the point?). Pick-up was set for the following Tuesday at 6 pm. When Tuesday came I pulled the plates off my old truck and parked it as the insurance had been switched to the Silverado. At 4 pm I received a call stating that we could not pick up the truck as they did not have the title. Annoying but at least we didn't waste the trip. I put the plates back on my old truck and switched the insurance back. I then received a call Thursday afternoon that the title was in and the truck was ready for pick-up. We drove down to Basil after work, swapped the insurance, and waited. Over an hour later our salesman comes out and says they still don't have the title. Clearly frustrated and sensing that our salesman was sent over by someone else to tell us, I asked to speak to a manager. Out came Ken. The conversation started with a variation of the phrase "what seems to be the problem" like he could not understand why we were frustrated. At this point the conversation did begin to get a little heated as I continued to ask how the business could make the same mistake twice and asked for a resolution. We were told that there would be no compensation for their mistake, which Ken did admit to after a few minutes, and our options were simply to either wait for the title which would always be there in "two days" or have the money refunded and find a different vehicle. I was shocked as Basil simply did not want to keep our business. I picked the vehicle, chose to buy from you out of all the dealerships, had excellent credit and cash in hand yet somehow, myself as the customer became the most insignificant part of the transaction. At one point I did use the phrase "you guys a wasting our time right now", Ken seemed to take this personally as he stated "I have done nothing", unfortunately this seems to sum up his entire managerial style. He did apologize about halfway through the conversation, which if he would have led with this the conversation most likely would have gone better. What I really wanted was the business that made the mistake to make it right, this could have been any trivial offer but it seemed this was not going to be the case. I told Ken that we would need a day to think about the truck as we still loved it but needed to reevaluate what we really wanted and the poor customer service we received. The next day I called as a stated I would to let them know that even though we would have to continue to wait we would still take the truck as it was exactly what we were looking for. I left a message for a call back and four hours later still did not receive a reply. I chose to stop by on my way home from work. When I walked in, there was no one in the showroom but rather everyone was in back and there seemed to be a social get together taking place. When someone finally did appear I asked to speak to Ken. He came out and I asked if he had gotten my call, he stated "I did but we've been really busy today". Another brush off it seems. I told him that we would still take the truck and to call us when everything was set and not before. He was almost smug like he knew that we would be back. I would like to state that the only reason we held on this long was we really liked the truck and did not want to go through the hassle of finding another vehicle we wanted to buy. A week later with my truck clearly failing we choose to start looking at other dealerships. We found the exact year, color and model truck at another dealership at $2500 less and choose to buy there, (the title at Basil coincidently came in the same day we purchased). They other dealership treated us fair and were eager to help us showing that a good experience truly is possible at a used car dealership. Long story short, 11 days of waiting coupled with poor treatment and a concern that this treatment would continue through future years of service, led us to buy elsewhere and if judging by the statements of the business manager, this dealership really doesn't care whether you purchase from them or not. Hopefully your experience if you choose to go with this dealership will be better but a cautionary tale none-the-less. read more

I was in your location for hours last night trying to crunch numbers..they finally got me into an equinox at 399 for 39 months. I knew I'd take a hit and have to pay some money..I told them I'd pay 14,500 to get that price. Anthony said that the bank makes the decision. Fine. He then said he would call me in the morning to see what the bank said. Well this morning..Jim Basil ran my credit and GM ran my credit. That's 2 hard checks..that is uncalled for. Nor was I told that when signing the credit app. I understand GM running it but why the hell did joe basil run it? Everything goes through the bank. Well your finances manager just called and was so unprofessional I had to hang up on him. These are stressful times paying that much money and my reasons for dropping down from my 2016 Limited 4 Runner. I asked him why my credit was ran twice and he gave me the same answer 3 different ways..like I was stupid..he said that "Joe Basil" will run it so they know what they are sending to GM. No. GM will make the decision either way. And I called Anthony twice and sent a text with no response. So this is how business is done at Joe Basil? I'm not looking to buy only lease but GM says no and not even my sales rep has the professionalism to call me to let me know or try to come up with another way to get my business? I'm a 100% disabled veteran and this is how your company treats people? I will be sure to tell every person I come into contact at the VA and in my large church family the horrible service I got at Joe Basil in Depew. read more

I bought a brand new equinox in 2009 and its a total lemon. It's been back to dealer at least a dozen times with mainly 2 different issues that took forever to get fixed. actually one problem still exists. They also told me my battery died while they were working on my car and I need a new one. My car has never had a problem starting so I declined the new battery install. Well my car is just fine and starts up every time. I didnt really need a battery and I would think a good mechanic would know that. They lie to get you to spend money. The main reason I'm writing is that during my last nightmare trip to the dealer I asked to speak to Jay Theil the manager, and never got to speak to him. I called his extension from home and left a message for Jay and he never called back. I asked another manager to ask Jay to call me. He never did. I left a review on the basil site and got a response ( publicly for everyone to read) expressing concern at my bad experience and was assured management would be in touch. nope...they haven't called. I would never ever recommend Basil to anyone. read more

I had to wait 2 1/2 weeks for an appointment. I have only had the truck for 2 months. When I showed up, they asked me if I wanted them to do a warranty replacement of the airbag. I said no, I was told it was done when I bought the truck 2 months prior. They told me the warranty was not performed. I agreed to have them do that. After 2 hours, I was not updated on anything, so I inquired on the status of my truck. They came back fairly quickly and offered to put me in a loaner. While doing the paperwork for the loaner, I asked that someone retrieve my keys for work from my truck. Someone said 'the truck is right outside'. My truck was in fact sitting in the lot, not being worked on at all. Not the service I would expect being a 'waiter' after waiting 2 1/2 weeks for an appointment. While I understand mechanical issues can not be predicted, When I called to ask if they could get me in sooner than 2 1/2 weeks because I had just bought the truck, they told me no. The next day I did receive 2 updates one at 11 and one at 3 that they 'were still looking into the check engine light'. At 4 I called to see if my truck was almost done before I headed home. I was sent to an answering machine. After a 30 minute drive and I was almost home, my call was returned and I was told my truck was all set. I drove 40 minutes back to the dealership which was close to where I had just come from. I was told that they replaced the Evap solenoid, which is what the code for the check engine light indicated, so I am not sure why it took so long to diagnose the issue. My service after the sale was terrible. My service in this experience was terrible. I went to Joe Basil Chevrolet trying to find a better experience with a dealership and left disappointed. read more

first i did make mistake of not being 100 percent sure about car. i dealt with a young salesman who when i explained the situation became very irritated.instead of trying to offer me something else all he did was try to strong arm me into taking the car.repeatedly saying how i kept him there until 930 the night before. he then walked away from me ,i went to the sales manager explained what was going on he said ok,again not asking if there was something else they could find for me.after i left the young salesman called me and continued to try to strong arm and berate me. i will never step foot in any basil dealership again read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Service!!!!!!!! I bought a Kia Sportage (yes I am aware this is a chevy dealership) in April 2015. The salesmen was clueless as to what he was selling. Again I understand this is a Chevy dealer, but if your going to take in used cars other than chevy, you should probably do a little research on them! The ONLY reason I walked away with my vehicle was because of my own research that was done. From day 1 nothing but problems!!! The vehicle had a remote start on it, confirmed with the salesmen during test drive that it had such feature. Upon signing paperwork and taking one last test drive, I asked where the button was for the remote start and was informed it was removed! WHAT?! Was told it wasn't a factory starter and they couldn't warranty work that wasn't theirs. Again, I understood this (still upset). We asked about a recall we had come across during our research, we were LIED to! We were told that no vehicle leaves the lot without all recalls being amended. I later learned from the Kia dealership that the recall was NEVER completed. First weekend I had the vehicle, it was in for service! I had a terrible chirping sound coming from my fan blower (heat, air conditioning). I was told nobody could verify such sound! Second week I had the car, it wouldn't start. I have the push button start and I had to hit the button about 20 times in order to get it to start. When I called to get it in for service, I was told they didn't have an opening for WEEKS! Um no! I had the vehicle for only 2 weeks and this was the second time it needed service already!! After speaking to an unfriendly and unaccommodating woman in the service dept, they finally agreed to allow me to bring my vehicle in. The following week I brought it back in for the same chirping noise and the first service visit. My only availability is weekends due to working two jobs during the week. I was told they "not gonna happen" on the weekend that they don't have the correct personnel for this job. Then why are you open for service on the weekend?!?! I was told I could drop it off on the weekend but they wouldn't be able to do it until Monday. I was also promised a rental vehicle. When I got there to drop the vehicle off and pick up the rental, there was only one rental available and three people that were promised a rental. They were absolutely CLUELES. All in all I had the vehicle in every single weekend for service for the first month. I was so dissatisfied with the service dept that I began taking my vehicle right to Kia where I don't have to wait weeks for a apt and can actually speak to a live person on the phone. I've had continuous problems with the sunroof since I purchased the vehicle. Now I'm being told the glass needs to be realigned that isn't something that Kia can do, so went back to Basil where I purchased the vehicle from and have gotten nothing but a run around. It's after three months I was told. It doesn't matter, I have a manufacturer's BUMPER TO BUMPER warranty. I am so disgusted with the service at basil and the LEMON that they sold me and refuse to repair that I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau! Stay away from Basil!!!!! read more
