If you're looking for some delicious fried food, you've come to the right place. Shockingly, we ordered a bunch of fried food for delivery and it somehow managed to still be crispy when it arrived! Here's what we ordered (all excellent): - Fish Strips with Cajun Tartar Sauce - Foxy Emma and Mae Frencis (fried shrimp and fries) - Big Boy Bird (BBQ wings) What's nice and what's often hard to find is the breading isn't too thick and it's nicely spiced. So nicely spiced that everything's good enough to eat without dipping in any of the sauces they give you. Even though it's a seafood place, they sure know how to make wings. The sauce is a sweet BBQ and the wings are oh so crispy. Seems that Joe Willie's just knows how to make anything and everything that's fried and not make you feel horrible after eating it!

First things First, if you don't like Cajun Boil atmosphere, you definitely won't like this one. The music was extremely biascan we hear something other than Drake & Sexy Redd Pandora Station. Music was also played off someone's phone so if they get a call there's no Music. Now let's get to this food I've had wayyy better for way less & better service. The water is service in a little plastic drinking cup iykyk no water carafe was left so your left thirsty. I'm extremely sorry I didn't get a pix before I started eating, but that pan was full. Now back to the foolishness, there is ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR, just regular seasoning on top of butter. They give you the wrong gloves to eat with. Medical Gloves aren't supposed to be used for food! My Friend had the Fried Catfish & they served it like chicken straps being cheap. Wasn't much flavor on the Catfish either. The potatoes that came with the boil tasted like sweet potatoes & they was big as hell like Russet PotatoesAll the seafood was slightly over cooked but the corn was fye thoughThe atmosphere is dark & loud, your automatically charged an 18% gratitudy for sitting at the bar Drinks wasnt hitting & you can't taste the alcohol. I heard the food when they was opened in Harvey & got disappointed at the Chicago South location. Pan definitely wasn't worth $65.99 due to it being no flavor whatsoever. Them tables are nasty as hell & the lights flickerTry at your own risk, better yet let someone pay for your food

Overall this place is not bad. For the price I paid, I feel like I should've gotten more. I was still hungry when I was done which has never happened. I ordered the king crab with corn and potatoes. The potatoes tasted like it absorbed the water it was boiled in and two pieces of tiny pieces of corn was just not enough. I do like the fact that they have king crab which many seafood joints don't have but it's just not worth the price. It wasn't as big as the ones you get at Costco or Sam's, but they have it as an option. Parking will be a big issue in the future but there is a lot of street parking near. It's good but not worth the price and will more than likely not return to this place. The employees were friendly and real helpful as well.

Omg !!!! Gone ahead and make your way there NOOOOOWWWWWW! I don't play about my seafood and they NAILED IT ! I had a great experience, they're friendly, fun , and prompt ! I ordered online through grub hub and they were ready with my order as soon as I got there. The food was so fresh and seasoned great without it being too salty !!! They have the best garlic herb butter hands down and you will need like 7-10 butters!!! FYI !!!! I can't wait to come back. I saw other orders being made such as their chicken wings and shrimp and grits.... which also looked amazing. You guys have my business for life and I'm telling alllll my seafood fanatics to come HERE!

The chicken wings were that fire! Delicious. Fries were ok. The crabaroni mac was freakin delicious but there wasn't any no crab in there. Just tiny overcooked scrimps and some sort of lobster pieces but maybe imitation crab? Either way. The seafood in the Mac was overcooked but that didn't stop it from being delicious. Granted I ordered the cheapest ish on the menu, I wouldn't mind ordering a more premium item in the future and having hope that it would also be fire. Try it.

Lobster Bites - it really wasn't a lot of actual food edible lobster with this. Not much for the price. However, it does taste really good.

Food was soooo good!!! The cashier was very nice. Food done in a decent amount of time. I will definitely be ordering here again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I didn't like that the ppl behind the counter did not have their masks on properly.

The wings use to be big now they give you Cornish hens. They also will have you waiting forever disregarding how long ago you ordered. They also give your food away if you order ahead of time and take your time to pick up the food.

I had snow crab, corn, potatoes, shrimp, and lobster tails (3)

Every single time I drove passed I looked at it, wondering what its prices and food were like. The preparation for an initial visit came prior to headed to Lawndale Christian Fitness Center because the restaurant sits enroute back to my apartment in the neighboring neighborhood. And with the restaurant being a bookmark of mine for nearly a year I figured it was time to finally visit. Now, the parking lot is shared at this restaurant, but it has well enough parking spots available on any part of Lawndale Plaza, the property where it sits. The interior of this restaurant made me think of a fish dock the way it is decorated with its painted, old, run down wooden wall and door appearance. Totally in sync with a name like Fisherman's Island. Now, other than its decorative - fish dock style interior, this restaurant has the bullet proof window shielding the employee which is not just this restaurant, but its neighboring restaurants, too. That alone gives me an idea of what kind of customers these restaurants serve. I got a chance to see a little bit of that firsthand because during my visit, one of the customers tried to steal a bottle of water then showed attitude once she was caught in the act. Another customer even went to the point of questioning the employee on why she was charged extra which most likely was tax, as we all are charged. After contemplating between either the tilapia, the catfish, and the whiting I ordered the tilapia which the sizes come in either 1/2 pound or 1 pound. Once I ordered I noted that all platters come with 3 sides: broccoli, corn and potatoes which is not that bad of a meal for its price listed. I did love that they wrapped my order inside of saran wrap which prevented any leakage. But once I opened it up, it was pure heaven because it smelt lovely! Ah, the wonderful smell of seasoned tilapia combined with broccoli. Waiting on my order I noted that most customers pre-ordered which I imagine eliminates the possibility of a long wait which really wasn't that bad for me. My food actually was completed in a appropriate time frame, but ordering again I would probably pre-order being that I live a little over one mile away. Pre-ordering would eliminate me from having to sit on that window sill again because my ass was hurting during my wait. The only thing in the dining area was a shelf stocked with canned goods, a cooler with drinks, and a trash receptacle for whatever known reason. With that I observed, it is obviously a takeout restaurant which probably stems from past incidents with customers and reason why that bullet proof window is plastered up shielding the employee. I'm just going to end it right here and say look no further if you are browsing through other reviews because this review is all you need to see. Other than my ass hurting from sitting on that window sill, I have no complaints about the overall service. I enjoyed the food and would gladly order from Fisherman's Island again; possibly regularly. If I knew how much I missed I would have visited a lot sooner, but better now than never. Wouldn't you agree? ~Blessings~ Thomas G

I try to explore two or three different neighborhoods per week, and today traveled to Little Village (from my place in Edgewater). This was my first trip to el barrio since the last time I had just duty at 26th and Cal, about four years ago. By 11 a.m. or so I was hungry and ended up visiting El Tecolote. As soon as I walked in I realized I'd been there before, back in 2018 or 2019 when I was Uber-driving between jobs. That's so long ago that I don't have specific memories. I just remember that I liked El Tecolote a lot! Today I liked it a lot, too! I had juevos rancheros, which were wonderful. The dish consisted of sunny-side up eggs that were nice and runny, just the way I like them. In my experience, restaurants tend to overcook sunny-side up eggs these days. Is that due to people getting sick and filing lawsuits? I don't know, but I hate overcooked eggs, and I thank señora for nice and runny eggs! The red rancheros sauce was delicious and had lots of bell peppers. Also a side of rice and creamy refried beans, plus some excellent, hot corn tortillas. And some very tasty tortilla chips. More than anything else, this breakfast tasted like . . . Mexico. I went to Isla Mujeras four times in the 90s, and today's meal brought me back to those happy trips. Two TVs near the front door were tuned to the same news show, and later the same soap opera. Although I don't speak Spanish, I enjoyed checking out the news and could easily figure out the top story, of course. And I was able to see that Spanish-language soap operas have the same over-acting as their English counterparts! Muchos gracias!

What we ordered: * Seafood Trio - 10/10. Spicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. * Lamb Chops- 100/10- juicy, tender and flavorful * Shrimp Cognac - 9/10. Fantastic flavor; I just wish there had been a little more shrimp. * Crab Egg Rolls - 10/10. A must-order. * Butter Cake - 100/10. Easily the star of the night. * MLK - 10/10. The service was wonderful. They do include a 20% gratuity, which is clearly disclosed, and our waitress explained that it is shared among the team. Any additional tip goes directly to the server. I appreciated her honesty and transparency, and she absolutely deserved extra. We had reservations for 5:30 PM, but you could tell that between 6:00 and 8:00 PM this place really comes alive. By the time we were leaving, there was a huge line forming outside. People were dressed like they were heading to a club, and for good reason--there's a speakeasy downstairs that adds to the experience. From the Southern-inspired flavors to the stylish, swaggish ambiance, this place is a hit. I highly recommend giving this establishment a try. We'll definitely be back.
