I was craving a thin NYC style pizza and heard Joe's Brooklyn Pizza offers this. We arrived and talked to the man running the counter about this. He assured me their Brooklyn thin crust would be the closest to NYC pizza around here. We wanted to order a full pie and were told it would be 10-15 mins. We got to talking with Jason, the owner/operator and he shared his family owns a few of the Joe's Brooklyn Pizza locations in town. I learned we had something in common; we are both from Queens, NYC. We had a chat about areas familiar to us both. It was a nice experience and his hospitality made the visit. While we waited for our pizza, we had an order of garlic knots. They were tasty and came with a side of marinara sauce. The dining area is large with plenty of seating, as well as an outdoor picnic table area. I'd love to give Joe's a better rating but the cost to quality ratio just isn't there. They run at the high end for pricing in Perinton but the sauce and the toppings are on the skimpy side and, having had authentic Brooklyn pizza, this just doesn't cut it. I will say that I like the Henrietta location much better but, with so many pizza joints in Perinton Joe's just isn't a go-to for me. Cost me over $50 for a mediocre pizza that charged a ridiculous amount for each topping and then scattered paper thin little pcs. on it that resembled something shaved off with a carrot peeler. The mushroom pcs were indistinguishable as such, pale looking sausage slices resembling elephant scabs left out in the sun too long and cheese that barely covered 2/3 of each slice. The pizza is good but the customer service at this location is severely lacking. We had ordered a pizza an hour before using their website online, but when I arrived the sole employee said that he received no such order and dismissed me right away. Multiple times I told him that I ordered online. I even tried to show him the confirmation email and the pending charge on my credit card, but he didn't seem bothered that my order got messed up. He had the "it's your problem, not my problem" mentality. But being the sole employee of the store, it was most definitely his problem. I wasn't about to waste any more of my time pleading my case to a guy who was obviously more concerned with continuing the rest of his orders than with my missed one. I was just planning to dispute the charge with my credit company. That was until my hangry fiancée found out what happened. She definitely got her point across better with him, but still had to "fight" to get a refund. He also refused to make our pizza right away. Initially, he said he would void the transaction, but "it could take days." Oh heck no. My fiancée then demanded written note that we would be refunded. That's when he finally acquiesced and gave us money back in cash. Something that he should have done 10 minutes ago. I think the employee is actually a nice guy and was merely overwhelmed with all the orders being the sole employee. He made a mistake and didn't see my online order. That's forgivable. However, how he handled it was not. He was dismissive and we spent 10 minutes trying to get a refund that we should have received right away after showing him the email confirmation. This place has NYC style slices - large and thin. What makes this better is the crispy crust. It's perfect. They have a huge assortment of pizza slices available immediately, many options made to order and other pizza shop staples like wings and calzones. I was completely unaware they served alcohol at all until after I left and read the business description. I ordered the pepperoni and banana pepper - my favorite combo. I love the cup pepperoni because they're meatier and tastier, also easier to eat. There was a good amount of topping and they all tasted fresh. The sauce and cheese are delicious and also fresh. The slices had a nice balance of ingredients over all. This is my new favorite slice spot in Rochester. read more

Originally, this was "Joe's Broken Peanuts", but it became quickly obvious that selling crumbled nuts was not going to pay the bills. In fact Joe was forced to rent out his own nuts jus to keep his broken peanuts business proverbially afloat. So he turned it into a witch-themed sex shop known as "Joe's Broomhandle Pleasures", and while a few local women (and plenty of local men) frequented the establishment, the problem of hygiene became a massive issue. I mean, think about it. What do you think they were doing with the broomhandles. You see where I'm going with this. Or rather where the broomhandles were going. Eventually, Joe gave up the ghost, gave up the side supplemental services (and the side b*tches too but I'm not sure I believe that part), and settled on a Pizzeria. And thank goodness he did because it's one of the very best in Rochester. What to get: Amazing NYC style thin-crust slices, grandmas slice, cheese slice for 2.75. What else: Ignore the bad reviews. This is 5-star pizza and the joint-best pizza in the entire city. I can't speak to their service or delivery too much, but for sheer taste and texture, nothing in the 585 can beat JBP. What else: The location in Henrietta is the original and is amazing. This location, based on my limited experience here, is just as good, and every bit as delicious. It reinforced the notion that JBP is the Elite Pizza in RNY. I can't tell the pizzas apart. Much like these 2 twins I used to date. I'll tell you about that later. Actors Tommy Lee and Charles had a gun shop known as "Jones Bronson Pistols", but luckily, when Joe moved to town, it got closed down because people stopped shooting each other and started eating this pizza instead. There are two pizza places in Rochester that are utterly incredible, to the point that even if they were in Buffalo, they would be fighting to get into the top 5 slices of pizza in town. Which is a real feat of incredulity since Buffalo has insanely good pizza. Those 2 places are Pizza Stop (my fave), and Joe's Brooklyn, which is basically every bit as good as Pizza Stop, except for one thing: they need to heat up their slices properly so they burn your mouth, like PS does and like all the NYC places do! I should also mention that Guida's and Carmine's are excellent and Nino's is good. I'm going to recycle a few jokes too, if that's ok. I was offered a choice of pizza from all 5 boroughs: I "Chose Brooklyn Pizza." The thin crust pizza is absolutely delicious... beyond delicious. I asked the guy here which pizza slice to try, and he told me his fave was the plain cheese. I was skeptical because there are so many good looking slices here. However, I got what he told me, and I lovvvvvvvvvvvvved it. It's made with herbs and spices, perfect crunchy crust, delicious thin layer of sauce and cheese... it's NY style pizza perfection. I couldn't get enough. Some of the best tasting slices not just in the 585, but in the whole state. The hype is true. Get over here and try these slices. If Harrison Ford had a brown hat and a whip and bought this pizza place, it would be "Indiana Jones Brooklyn Pizza." Joe's Brooklyn and Pizza Stop have a lot in common. Not only are they the best 2 slices in the 585, but they both now have a second location, and in both cases the new location is very quiet (sob). Pizza Stop's new place is way out west, whereas Joe's is way East. Joe's original is down south whereas PS is downtown. And whereas the new PS has very few slices for selection, both Brooklyn's and the original PS have many, many options. And they're all... f***ing... incredible. If you asked Jeeves and he said the only healthy pizza was made with broccoli, then would this be "Jeeves Broccoli Pizza"? Places like Luigi's, Bleecker St, Prince St, Louie & Ernie's & Sunnyside make the best NY pizza in NYC, and so do Pizza Stop & Joe's here in the 585. Who needs to go to NYC anymore? Well I do, but only to report to my boss, Mr. Hassacucci. It's a mafia thing. And no he doesn't actually have one. It's just his name okay. Not that I've seen his... never mind. If the pizza here was a joke, or it was a comedy club by night, it'd be "Jokes Brooklyn Pizza", but it's not, so. Maybe they're Broke in Brokelyn because they spent all their money on this amazing pizza. Or on the broken peanuts that he used to sell here. Or the broomhandles. Ouch. It used to cost more than you'd think. I mean do you have any idea how much industrial-strength cleaning fluids you need to clean broomhandles that have been used for... that. I used to love this place, but the customer service has hit rock bottom. I won't order from them again. I wish there was a zero star rating option. I ordered via grub hub. I received notification that the order was out for delivery. Over a hour later the pizza hadn't arrived. I called Joe's to find out where it was. The girl on the phone said it went out for delivery, and they don't know what happened. She stated they would call me back. 20 minutes passed, no call. Instead, I received a notification that the order was cancelled by Joe's. There was no reason given for the cancellation or pizza never showing up. They never called back either. Following a long shift at work, I had an insatiable hankering for a Mac n cheese slice and when I looked up the pizzeria I'd had in mind it was closed! Aghast, I took to google to find another suitable location to appease my craving, and that's how I found Joe's. And to my delight it was just down the road from my work (the Perinton location, but they have several). They specialize in selling by the slice, all kinds of Sicilian and specialty slices, so I had no trouble finding my golden slice of paradise. There were so many good looking pizzas though I'll have to be back to try more. The Mac n cheese slice, made with ziti and a nice amount of garlic, was really good. Excellent customer service and variety of pizzas offered. Joe's has traditional NY style pizza, which seems to have a slightly thinner crust than some. The overall taste of the pizza is on the saltier side, whereas I prefer the sweeter sauces with slightly thicker crust such as Mark's. If in Henrietta and I don't feel like driving the distance to my usual spot, Joe's is a definite, "go to" option. Their prices are ridiculously reasonable compared to some other pizzerias with cheese running $2.50 per slice and pepperoni being $2.99. Both are great. Will return. read more

I *really* want to rate this place a lot higher. And if I were reviewing the pizza exclusively, I could easily give it four or five stars. It's probably my favorite pizza in Rochester, with high quality ingredients, expertly prepared, and cooked to perfection. So why only two stars? We brought good friends to Joe's on a recent Friday night. The few times we had been in previously, the slices were awesome and the timing just worked out well. It was about 9 PM, and they were open till 10, so perfect, right? Not so much. We arrived to a nearly empty restaurant at 9:15. The guy at the counter finishes up with another customer, barely looks at us (let alone smile or any sort of greeting) and takes our order. Three drinks and an XL pizza came to almost $50. The guy brought the beers to the table without a word. Pizza arrived at about 9:35 and all was well. At about 9:50, with about half the pizza left, out of the blue, the guy asks us if we need a box. We hadn't asked for one, nor indicated that we intended to do anything but stay and eat. We said no thanks, we'd probably finish it. Then at 10:00 exactly, with food and beer still on the table, the guy tells us he needs us to clear out because they're closed. Seriously? A restaurant that actively kicks patrons out at the strike of closing hour? I suppose worse things have happened, but we had brought our friends there because we thought it would be a nice place to grab a quick bite and we arrived well before their closing time. Honestly, it was a little embarrassing. THEN, to top it off, I sent a fairly detailed Facebook message to them outlining what occurred. It was a pretty nice note, not scathing or rude or anything. Just a heads up that our experience wasn't great and I thought they should be aware. I thought for sure there would have been some sort of response, but despite the message having been seen/received on their end, nothing. Nada. Not even a "thanks for the info; we'll talk to the guy." I guess I just think that when you drop $50 for a pizza and a few beers, you shouldn't be kicked out of the place, and the service should be courteous and even be accompanied by an occasional smile. Growing up in Hoboken, NJ I was born in to fantastic pizza everywhere you looked. After moving to WNY for college and then to Rochester for work, I all but gave up pizza entirely. The struggle took years for me to overcome. Doughy, overly sweet, undercooked crap that I can't believe people even want to eat. Just when I almost forgot pizza was even a type of food, Joe's opened up in Henrietta, and then right around the corner from my work in Perinton. Joe's is hands down the best pizza anywhere in the greater Rochester area. I literally won't go anywhere else. For the past 6 years the only pizza I ate was because it was given to me for free, or I was hammered drunk and made a bad decision. I went from eliminating pizza entirely from my diet due to the crap you find around here, to actually craving pizza again and eating it regularly. This is all thanks to Joe's. Their Grandma's pizza is so good I can't even handle it. I literally dream about it some nights. I only with they had slices of it available more regularly. Also, their pulled pork pizza is out of this world, all because of their delicious homemade BBQ sauce (with a great little kick). I loved Joe's when they first opened, but they have been going downhill steadily in the last 2+ years. The slices have gotten smaller, with way too much crust and the toppings skimpy.
