Located in down town Fairfield where parking sometimes can be rough. However, you'll need to walk a little back to the car after eating here. They do have parking in the rear of the restaurant with a rear door entrance. They whip you up a freshly sliced sandwich as soon as you walk in. You want about two and a half inches of pastrami, turkey, BBQ beef, or French dip this is the spot. It's an old deli that looks like it's been around since the 70's with a huge seating area. The green salad is soggy and has too much parsley. The hot items are warm at best. The green beans were also soggy and had too much of a poignant spice. Two thumbs up for the roast beef with au jus on french roll. I love a good hot roast beef sammy. Au jus was the perfect density, a little thick, like gravy, to coat the sandwich perfectly. My boyfriend and I recently tried Joe's Buffet for lunch this past week, and we were not disappointed. Upon entering we were greeted by the lovely staff behind the counter! I have been told by numerous amount of peers & colleagues to try out Joes, as I just moved to the area. I got myself a 2meat sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll along with a few sides to try. Service was great! Fast and efficient! They have 2 seating areas, both inside, and you can actually park and enter through the back as well, which in my opinion is a plus since Downtown street parking can be a bit of a hassle. Another plus is that they have a table with lids and foil so you can wrap your leftover sandwich to go!! Love the convenience of that! The sandwiches were great! I wasn't too big on the Mac & cheese, it wasn't terrible, just not for me. The roasted potatoes were okay, as well as the potato salad. Overall 8/10! read more

I've been wanting to make a stop here at the famous Joe's Buffet to try those super piled high meat sandwiches! Joe's is not right off the freeway, so ya gotta make a little effort to come into town and find the place. If you live here in Fairfield, you're lucky! I was on my way westbound on the 80 and planned this stop. One thing to make clear, Joe's Buffet is not a buffet in the classic sense, meaning it's not a serve yourself all you can eat kind of place. It's more like a Hof Brau, where you stand in line and order your food from the staff behind the steam tables. The meats on offer are, turkey, salami, corned beef, pastrami and roast beef. You pay for each item you order. First you choose your meat. Most are around $8.00 bucks, then decide what bread you want. There's a lot of choices, but I choose roast beef on a french roll. Then you choose what cheese you want along with mustard, mayo and pickle. Then there are you sides you can pick, or not as you pay for each item you get. Sandwich inc. cheese and condiments $8.00, the sides like mac salad or potato salad or mashed potatoes are $2.00 for a small. I just wanted the sandwich. My friend got the pastrami sandwich. Forget the sides, we're here for big ass meat sandwiches! You can get a beef juice dip as well, which I did. The sandwiches are piled high alright, but in the presentation you might notice the meat piled real high in the middle and tapers off at the ends. This gives the illusion you're getting a lot more meat than you really are, but even evened out over the bread, you still get a good portion of meat. It's a lot easier to fit in your mouth too, if you even out the meat. Dipped in juice, my sandwich was wonderful ..... my feet were doing the happy dance under the table! The pastrami was equally as tasty. I just wish Joe's was a little closer to the freeway, so it'd be a real nice stop for me as I travel thru here often. But I suppose if I was on a real urge for one of these wonderful sandwiches, I'd make the drive off the freeway. When I hear Joe's Buffet, I automatically assume "all you can eat" but I was wrong and that's perfectly alright because the portion size is overwhelming. My co-worker suggested this place since she's very familiar with the area. We parked in the alleyway and I chuckled while saying, "This is the cleanest alley I've seen compared to Santa Rosa." LoL Entering from the back they have plenty of seating, but I was told during the spring and summer the seating fills up quickly. As I was ordering it reminded me of the high school days where you stand in line, order your sandwich and scoot down to see what sides you want, if any. OMG! These were not the regular sides I'm use to. I'm use to chips, potato/Mac salad, but here they all hot sides such as freshly made mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac & Cheese, & pasta w/marinara. I decided that today would be the day I would visit Joe's Buffet in Fairfield. I must say that it was EVERYTHING I was not expecting it to be. I'll preface this by saying that I hope EVERYONE has the experience I had today. Sooo... Joe's is located in what seems to be a "downtown" kinda area for Fairfield. This place had that old world charm, the kind that makes you wanna stop into Joe's and say hi to everyone while you wait on that delicious ass sammie! When I walked in, I saw a few people standing in line, so I ventured over to read the menu. Within SECONDS a young lady named Nadia came over to me with the most infectious smile! She kindly asked if I was ready to order, I told her it was my first time and I was a bit confused. Bless her BEAUTIFUL HEART! She then proceeded to tell me what everyone's favorites were, WHILE she gave me samples of the roast beef, ham, corned beef, and pastrami! After I made my selection, another lady (didnt get her name) came over to help. There were 4 women working and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM took the time to share their favorites, say hello and thank you, and offer samples to help me pick out my sides! Joe, I dont know WHO the heck you are, but you have an excellent staff! They even stayed open a few minutes later to accommodate another order I had to place! GREAT CUSTOMER FOCUS/SERVICE! Onto the food.. My goodness! I had the mashed potatoes, salad, potato salad AND a roast beef sandwich. OH.MY. GOD. I ordered two more sandwiches to go! The gravy and au jus were so damn good, finger licking good I tell you! The bread was so soft, the meat was pulled so high and flavorful, the produce was fresh and crisp. No doubt I will be back! I will say this however, as far as the seating area goes, the "look" of it leaves a bit to be desired, but I was so focused on my food, that the other stuff didnt even matter! I am so ashamed that I have lived in the area for 3 years and am just having Joe's for the first time. The sandwich was one of the best I have ever had, the au jus was warm and thick. The bread was soft yet hearty enough to hold in the huge portion of freshly slice meat on the sandwich.
