To the manager or owner: Your bar keep is overworked . She seems flustered when people came in and we did not realise it is an "order at the counter" type of place. This place isn't large but we had to figure out how the system works here. We even had to get our own menu. Not much of a greeting except her eyes noticing we were here and said nothing. I'm not sure how many staff is actually here but I only see 3 women . It's always good to have a greeter /host... even if it's a slow day. read more

The environment of this restaurant is different form most. You order through the cashier in the bar then you seat yourself. They call your name and bring you out food. There are no designated servers so you need to go up yourself and get what you need. There are people drinking at the bar early so don't feel alone if you want a little pick me up. I ordered their Turkey Avocado BLT and it was pretty delicious. The bacon is extra crispy the avocado is super fresh. It also comes with a side of salad, macaroni, or pasta. The macaroni is the best one! I also ordered a side of mozzarella sticks and man... that was a big disappointment. There was NO cheese pull! It was also under fried a little because it was not melty and a little cold. The almond latte is also alright. Too much almond flavoring and you can taste the artificial flavors of it. It was my first time there and I ordered food to go. I tried to exit the restaurant to wait for the food out front, but people blocked the door and made it difficult to go outside. After I waited for about 10 mins, I saw them give food to the people who ordered after me. Which made me wonder why they got their food first. Then I saw them open the to go order and it looked suspiciously like what I ordered. Turns out they gave my food to people sitting down at a table. The people ate my food as I stood there waiting. After watching them take a few bites, I went in and and told them I was waiting for my to go order. Several minutes later they realize they gave my order away. Then, they gave the other people their actual order and told me it would be another 10 mins or so for them to remake my food. They asked if that was okay, and I replied by saying "I guess so, but can we maybe get something extra for the inconvenience?". They said yes, we will throw something extra in. Then, 10 mins later, they bring my to go order and there was nothing extra. After all this the food didn't even taste very good. Definitely a frustrating experience. We've been to Joe's Corner several times and have been thrilled. Today was a different story! We placed our order for 12 Buffalo wings and two stout beers. We received the beer immediately and it was great. 40 minutes later our food arrived. Our beers were gone, the wings looked like they were steamed and the coating didn't seem cooked. Dog friendly area in the front bar area. I walked in a stranger, now everyone knows my name. This is the best place to enjoy a beer in Fremont. Hands down. No kidding. Blue collar, white collar, any collar is welcome. They have great sandwiches too. Beer and a sando = perfect. This is true neighborhood place. I'm not ashamed to be called a regular here. This place is fantastic. What better location than Niles Blvd. this place used to be an old bar until new owners came in and gave it a huge upgrade. The owners and staff are amazing. I've visited a few times both for lunch and just to grab a drink. The first three times were pleasant enough. I had stopped in on a Saturday evening Niles Cruise Night with friends, had one beer each, was treated excellently by the owner and staff. I was offered a sample of a beer that I was skeptical about before I committed to a full pint. Always a way to win me over, especially since I ended up not like the sample! I returned the very next day with two different friends on our bicycles (that were parked outside). We stood near the register, menus in hand, ready to order for about 7 minutes while being completely ignored by both servers and the cook in the kitchen! We all tried to make eye contact, said hello, and nothing. I had spoken with both servers the previous evening, and didn't expect to be greeted like an old friend, but wasn't expecting not to be acknowledged, either! The owner didn't appear to be in at the time. Plus, there were only about 4 other customers there at the time. Whether or not the food and drinks are good doesn't matter to me if either the service is poor or non-existent. The three of us left and headed to Bronco Billy's where I've never been ignored, regardless of how busy they get, and were treated to great pizza and beer. read more

Once, they charged us ... we waited 30mins ... finally went inside to politely (politely almost autocorrected to poltergeist FYI) ask where our food was. They never put the order in. Second time we order two breakfast sandwiches and a morning brewski to get the day going, and they come out with ONE sandwich instead of two. This last time, we ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage- an option the employee helping us wasn't sure they offered-they do, it's on the menu. Placed our ordered, sat out on the barstools and 10 mins later were told they didn't have sausage. Ummm ok ya just opened and you have no sausage for the breakfast sandwich with sausage you offer? We decided ok we'll have it with ham. Our sandwich came out with one measly slice of ham.ONE. So thin you could see through it. I've wanted to try Joe's since I moved to Fremont almost two months ago... Shit! It just hit me how long I've already been in NorCal. Man, time flies. Anyway, back to the review. The Kingdom of Yelp has been kind to Joe's Corner. Giving them 4.5 stars and talking very highly of their food and service. So for me, I had to make an effort to check this place out at some point. Funny thing is that my first visit was by chance. My buddy Chuck and I wanted to grab some grub at Tacos Negris but they were closing up and since Joe's is across the street, I suggested eating here. - Italian Sub Sandwich: Standard, nothing special. Tastes like most Italian sandwiches but it wasn't bad. They're generous with their meats which I something I appreciate. - Potato Salad: Pretty bomb. I love potato salads so this was a real treat. They use Yukon Potatoes which is always the best way to go. Their seasoning is on point and the creaminess is just right. Only bummer is that they give you a small scoop with your sandwich - I wanted more! - Grilled Proscuitto w/ Salame and Mozzarella: Chuck got this but opted to get it with pepper jack instead of mozzarella. Bad move on his part because it made it way too salty. I think the mozz would have tamed it down a bit. The bread had a great grill on it - crunchy. The best part about this place is the service. The lady at the bar (that's where we sat) was SO awesome. Just your typical Fremont local - nice, genuine and friendly. She gave us some recommendations after we told her what we like and made sure were treated well. Honestly, I'd go back just to chat with her again. Such a cool lady. She did a great job making us feel welcome and comfortable. Like I always say, you can't beat great service! But overall, this place is just "A-OK". Not bad, not great. But I'd totally recommend you checking it out at least once. Plus, it's on Niles which is a really cool part of Fremont. It can't be a bar they close at 7, but it's not a deli because what deli has 15 beers on tap? They need to decide what type of place they want to be. If your going to be a restaurant get real cooking equipment not home ovens crock pots and microwaves. Not a hidden gem. Let's just start with ordering... You walk up to the counter to order you food and drinks. Then you go and sit down without your drink and you have to wait on them to bring you your drink. Sometimes it takes awhile to just get a drink. The sandwiches are pretty good except the meatball sub. It's frozen meatballs and canned marinara sauce. The sides are ok just extremely small. They should either charge you more for a bigger portion or sell them as a side option. Most of the time we wait around to get any refills. read more

I had a very bad experience this morning ordering three breakfasts Togo. The restaurant was practically empty so I figured it would be quick. It took 30 min before I asked about how much longer it would take and was told there were three tickets ahead of mine. I can't imagine how that's possible. I asked for a refund and was told I could have one. I asked for a manager and was told there wasn't one for me to talk to. With just two people eating there when I arrived I can't believe how long the wait was for a pretty simple order. Then the woman in the kitchen said "she's asking for a refund?! But the foods ready!" She was acting really pissed off. I said to her I would take it if it's ready. But it wasn't. She was actually still working on it and spent another 5-7 minutes getting the order together. As other patrons commented to me how long they saw me waiting and said "that's a shame! You've been here so long!" I was handed the containers of food with no plastic ware and no hot sauce I had requested. My kids who were waiting to eat at the park nearby were really upset when I got back and we had to leave not having breakfast and I didn't get to enjoy the park with them. I wouldn't recommend going here unless you have a lot of time to kill. I don't appreciate the attitude of the employees and would love to hear front management. You can see in the photo the eggs portion is very small in these order (maybe one egg) and we never got our three orange juices that come with the breakfast special. The boy&I came in for a mid-afternoon sandwich and we weren't disappointed. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly&hospitable. The boy&I ended up getting a bowl of clam chowder [SUUUUUPER bomb!!] and a prosciutto sandwich with everything on it [+ a scoop of potato salad and tortellini salad]. Everything was delicious [although I wasn't a huge fan of the tortellini salad... it was a bit too tart for me], but my favorite was probably the clam chowder. Soooo good. It was a such a friendly atmosphere and the food was delicious! They also have a great staff and awesome beer selection! Really nice place. The staff is super friendly, and they have a pretty good selection of beer on tap. Yankee fans beware this is a Boston Red Sox friendly bar. This place is still a really nice place to go to. The owner is from Boston, and on that day our group went here we met his wife. Of course my friends had to point out that I was a Yankee fan. I got a little hazing for that, but when she asked me all time favorite player on the Yanks was (Bernie Williams) I got a little less hazed. Really neat little restaurant and bar in Niles. Pretty friendly staff once you get to the counter. You have to order food at the counter, there is no table service. That being said, we took the menus to a table to sit down and peruse them. No one told us we had to order at the counter, we asked after a bit and to be fair, there was a big big sign which we either missed or ignored. But they were friendly about it. My friend and I split a meatball sandwich and the Italian BLT. Very very delicious meatballs, would have preferred a crustier bread, the bread was kind of squishy. But very delicious meatballs. The owner/mgr told us we could have ordered a non bread option when she saw we didn't eat our bread. Loved the BLT insides, and the oregano mayo was superb. (This made it an Italian BLT) and it was very yummy! But the bread was pasty and I've never ever had an un-toasted BLT before. When I mentioned it to the owner/mgr? She said I could request it to be toasted next time. Since BLT's are normally toasted, my unsolicited advice would be to mention the choice to customers each time they order. I feel like this place could be really fantastic with a few tweaks to appeal to customers who've never been there before. Currently they are really catering to customers who've been there and know their menu. We will definitely be back because of the great quality of food, nice service, happy decor and good location. A nice small venue for a nice small town. The building blends right into the main street of Niles, carrying a historic/old-time ambiance. It's an order-at-the-counter style place with two registers/counters, a coffee bar, a beer-on-tap bar, outdoors-facing bar seating, and two small tables outdoors. (It's more small town family-friendly than anything else, despite the bar and giant neon sign) There's a wide variety of things you can get here, ranging from breakfast to fresh pastries to coffee to craft beer to sandwiches. There's no fancy presentation with the plating, and your orange juice will come in a plastic cup, but the food is simple and delightful. Staff here have been amazing and friendly on every visit. This place is my regular go-to for brunch if I'm out with some friends exploring the (also pleasant) area. read more

So i go up to the door for coffee on 04/18/20 for coffee the guy not the usealy person some kid poors coffee into a mug and states its a bit cooled from sitting he proceeds to reheat useing the steam via valve he does 1 than a girl walks up behind me and ask if she could go in and get 2 beers to go the kid says yes puts my coffee down and proceeds to help the girl inside he poors her 2 beers puts them in plastic cups than accepts her payment while im standing there unfukn real. I said your kidding me right the kid says oh im warming your coffee up while its sitting in a cup in front of me absolutely rude disrepectfull very unprofessional for a customer that frequents there. My rating for Joes Corner is conflicted as I want to rate it higher for the location and ambiance but knock it lower because its a sit down spot with a whack ass "everyone must order here" configuration like a 7-11 or something. If they cant train their staff to take orders at the table then they arent a professional restaurant, more like a hobby kitchen with beer. Another example if that is s 2 year old paper menu with appetizers taped up on a single had written sheet behind tbe register. Plus beyond a panini press, nothing on the menu is cooked, only assembled. If I wanted a sandwich I would stay home and make it myself and save $12. In any other location this place would be a solid 1.5* but because of its location and history I will give it a 3*. If there wasnt huge lines at the Vine all the time, this place would never get my business, spot of last resort in niles! read more

A quaint little neighborhood cafe with a unique small-town vibe. Joe's Corner is located in the nostalgic Niles District and lives up to the unique style of the area. Immediately, upon walking into Joe's you feel like a neighbor coming over for coffee. The staff are all really friendly and seem to have a special rapport with most of their clientele. The two knocks on this place is the really small breakfast menu and limited seating. While breakfast really isn't the most complicated meal of the day, it would be nice to see some additional entries. While there is quite a lot of open floor and only a half dozen tables for seating. If it gets a rush of ten guests, they would be overloaded! However, the food they do make was quite good. I ordered some pancakes and eggs and was really happy with the result. I even tried one of their (somewhat expensive) mimosas which was really good and quite refreshing. This is a great place to eat if your visiting the Niles district or if you want an enjoyable breakfast or lunch. read more

I was always ordering the Muffaleta sandwich however the last couple of visits I had the sandwich of the day... once a meatball and then an italian sausage. Both tasty and on good bread. The portions are not huge which I like... not a big fan of large portions. Rather have a reasonable size portion of good food than alot of bad.
