If I had to describe my experience at Joe's Crab Shack with four S's, it'd be this: Savory - Every bite was packed with flavor. The seafood was fresh, well-seasoned, and absolutely hit the spot. Smiling - The staff was upbeat, attentive, and made the whole experience feel fun from the moment we sat down. Spirited - The atmosphere was lively, energetic, and exactly what you'd hope for from a seafood restaurant. It made the meal even more enjoyable. Salivating - I'm still thinking about the food. In fact, I'm still salivating just remembering it. That's usually a pretty good sign that a restaurant did something right. Joe's Crab Shack delivered on every level. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere that made the whole meal memorable. I left full, happy, and already looking forward to the next time I get to crack into another bucket of crab. While visiting San Antonio and walking around the river walk. We came across Joe's Crab Shack. I haven't eaten there in years, so I decided to have dinner at Joe's. First let me say, our server Santiago was great! Very nice and pleasant and he knew the menu well. I was being indecisive so he recommended the crab and shrimp pasta. I'm so glad he did! This pasta dish was filled with so much flavor and was a good portion size. I couldn't even finish it! I also ordered a side of hush puppies.... Yum! Santiago definitely made the dining experience enjoyable. If you want to stop by for drinks, they do have a full bar with TV's (in case you want to catch a game). The place itself can use some minor repairs... the first table we sat at was super rocky but they had no problem moving us to another table that was sturdy. Great amount of food in the Rast Coast platter but the flavor was lacking for like the battered fish, and overpowering lemon on the crab cake. The shrimp were good though. Service was prompt once seated, though there was no one there greeting at the front door a bit. It was nice to dine along the Riverwalk though, that made the experience worth stopping in. read more

We were first time customers and it was personally my first time in San Antonio (and Texas for that matter!), we went on a quieter day so we pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves. It's a pretty reasonably priced and reliable option for seafood. The service was a little slow and a bit inconsistent with attention given to the table compared to what we saw with other tables. The location is great because it is right at the River Walk. It was pretty loud but not super busy even though we went on a holiday. read more

Food was delicious! My bartender Ashley was very attentive and offered a great recommendation. I wasn't sure if I wanted garlic butter or lemon pepper on my boiled seafood. She recommended the captains secret sauce. Both of them and Cajun seasoning. The spice level was perfect for me medium. I was completely comfortable sitting at the bar by myself, even though it was extremely hot and humid outside, inside was perfect. She even made me a mocktail that was delicious! Overall the food, chatter and relaxing environment really hit the spot for me before having to drive back to Houston. Our sever Ray was great! He payed attention to our table, knew when we needed more drinks & didn't keep us waiting long for anything.

The Riverwalk is mainly filled with Mexican food which we aren't a fan of but we do love seafood so it was nice to come across a Joe's Crab Shack on the riverwalk. We started by sharing a bowl of New England Clam Chowder that was really good. We then shared the Fried Cajun Snow Crab meal that was both finger licking good with a lot of flavor. It was pictured on the menu with 4 snow crab leg clusters which is why we ordered it to share but then when it came out it only had 3 clusters which we were told is because it goes by weight. Our waiter agreed this was misleading. Overall we were satisfied with the portion. read more

WHAT HAPPENED JOES?! There used to be a Joe's by my house in Lauderhill Florida and I was so UPSET that it closed! When I saw it was in the San Antonio Riverwalk I was so excited! I ordered the Crab Daddy feast medium with the Joes secret sauce that was so hot I couldn't believe it! I asked for butter which would have really made the meal complete and helped battle the heat of the crab but the butter came out watered down which I never seen before! My Soror and I were craving crawfish and crab legs and decided to give Joe's some business. I've eaten with them before in Fr Worth but it has been years! I was pleasantly surprised that crawfish were offered and I ordered that along with the Cajun boil that included snow crabs, mussels and shrimp. Service was good with the exception of being told that potatoes and corn being served with the crawfish initially by our server. Once the food was delivered, it was just the crawfish. My wife and I stopped here for a mid day meal. We felt it was a mid grade "chain" sea food restaurant. It was not very busy in my opinion but it took an unbearable amount of time to get our meals. Our server, Vontese apologized several times for the delay. I had a shrimp po-boy, which was good, but not outstanding. I 'm not sure I would order it again. There was plenty of shrimp but it wasn't as flavorful as I have had at other seafood restaurants. My wife had a dish they call "Not Joe Mama's Chicken". She said it was very good and she would order it again. I have ate at other "Joe's Crab Shack"s which were much better. The highlight of our meal was our server, Vontese. She was extremely good. She provided outstanding service without being overbearing. I would give her a solid 5 out of 5 for service. Shitty service came for wife's bday to get her shark bite not only where there no theatrics which is the reason we came as we were downtown for her bday but the guy said nothing when dropping off drink and no shark then when we brought it up to manager apparently they have been out for days then acted like refunding a drink we didn't touch was doing us a favor. We went to the Joe's on the San Antonio River walk. It was perfect! Our server Jenny was exceptional and I highly recommend eating there.

So the service was fine. However the calamari appetizer was inedible, judge for yourselves by the picture. A lot of batter I can deal with but massively overcooked and very thin rings were terrible. My wife coconut shrimp also overcooked, not as bad as the calamari. My blackened flounder was very good, but the shrimp with it were also very overcooked. Our server was great however, other than the flounder, the rest wasn't in the calamari were absolutely terrible. I peeled all the batter off so you could see in the picture how overcooked they were. Reservation for 8:45pm on NYE did not get a table till past 9pm, was sat upstairs by ourselves absolutely no one else up there. Did not get approached by a server till 20'mins later, drinks came another 20 mins later. Placed our order, food came out with what looked like scraps on the plate, sent my salad back because I never received my dressing or utensils even after requesting them twice, by the time I saw our server again my family was done eating. Server informed us the kitchen had closed and they pretty much gave us what they could. Fried shrimp plate for 21.99 & two of my kids ordered that, they received 4 shrimp and literally a hand full of fries. My son's kids pizza came with two pieces of pizza and 5 fries, husbands food did not come complete (as kitchen closed and apparently could not complete his order) I also ordered a Long Island iced tea, it came with pineapple juice in it, I'm allergic to pineapple, Informed them, was never asked if I'd like it replaced or anything. It was such a horrible experience and horrible pick for an NYE dinner with the kids. However, our server did do his best. His name was David and felt bad and did not even want to add a pen to my check for a tip which I left anyways. Jenni should get a raise she is very nice and the place smells delicious. The service is fantastic and so is the food.

Highlight: Auggie was an excellent server. Lowlights: everything else. I had the shrimp sampler and all the shrimp was dry. I asked for a side of the spicy sauce to help the shrimp, it didn't work. The spicy sauce was not spicy and it tasted like a sad tomato soup. Also, some of my shrimp were not even clean. I think it will be another 20 years until I hit up a Joe's again. read more

Went for an early lunch, and got a great seat right by the river walk. Lovely view. We were some of the first customers, and wanted to start with a cup of coffee, and we relaxed while we had that and checked out the menu. They were very accommodating to let us chill. Then we went for our lunch. We wanted to try the different oysters, so got 6 Creole and 6 charbroiled. They were all good. Also tried the clam chowder, and it was delicious! We live in Massachusetts for part of the year, so we know good chowder. This was thick and creamy without being too rich, and very good flavor. We also enjoyed the Hush Puppies. Would like to go back for dinner, to try some of the larger seafood offerings. read more
