I was able to easily make an appointment to have my brakes checked after some strange squeaking noises. It took maybe 2 minutes to drop my car off, and in a few hours they called to tell me everything looked great! I was really relieved to hear it was a one off thing and not a huge problem. They assured me that driving everything was fine, and my brake pads looked great. On top of great and fast service, they didn't even charge me to look at it. My husband and I have brought both my Kia and his Ford ranger, that needed major repairs, here and have received excellent service every time. read more

I don't know how these guys get such good reviews. My Daughter brought her 1988 Isuzu in for a Brake job and a Clutch Master and Slave cylinder. I spoke with the Manager and he told me he would call back with a breakdown of the costs. After not hearing back from him as promised, I called , and he informed me they were almost done and the bill is $1500 So maybe this is a one off for them, but I doubt it. Joe is nice man and he seems to care about the customer; however it also seems like Joe's Garage may try to get as much money out of the customer as possible. Last time I was there the business tried charging me $2000 for a slew of 9 issues, 7 of which I was unaware of in my recently purchased car. I thought I could get better prices elsewhere, but I'll have to pay the full $2000. I was infuriated when I received the bill online after thinking I was going in for a cheap clamp replacement. The receptionist refused to give any details of the charges on the phone prior to me viewing the online message. They sent me off with another online message saying they used zip ties, quoted here: "The clips on the electrical connectors on the ignition coils are broken - secured them with zip-ties." I hope that lasts! Perhaps clips for the electrical connectors on the ignition coils are not sold separately. I think I'll try a different mechanic business next time. P.S. We were desperate and Joe's Garage came to the rescue!!! In driving from the San Francisco Bay Area to Eugene with a new freshman for U. of O., our SUV started flashing warning lights and seems to be having transmission issues. We made it to Eugene, but knew we needed to get it fixed before we made the 8 hour drive back home in a few days. I called around looking to find any service that would help us. From the second we talked to the folks at Joe's Garage they were super sympathetic and helpful, telling us to come right in even though they were already fully booked. They were knowledgeable, super helpful (especially considering we turned up with no appointment and the need for immediate attention) and unbelievably professional and ethical. Best of all they were great guys, very funny, making us comfortable when we were already very stressed about having to get everything sorted for the "unpack the quack" in a few hours (our car was filled to the brim with items for the dorm room). Joe's Garage made helped us in everyday they could and because of Joe's Garage we were able to successfully get everything sorted for our dorm load-in and drive back to the Bay Area. Had a leaking radiator in my car. Went to Joe's and they quoted me over $700 after I had called Stadium Automotive who gave me a $385 quote. DEFINITELY call around and get a few estimates before going here. Also charge me $75 for a diagnosis that took less than half an hour to complete. Update*: Have since gone Oregon Auto (highly recommend) who did the job for $133. Being brand new to the area, I relied on strong Yelp reviews to find a mechanic to service my brakes, and chose Joe's. I am happy I did! Driving up from SoCal pulling a trailer, I soon noticed my front right brake grinding. This was during the epic ice/rain storm. The next day, as I was on my way to Joe's, something broke in there and I had it towed in. My right brake pad had some serious issues which ended up ruining my rotor and damaging a sensor. The whole job ended up costing $1058, but thankfully they were able to get right on it and the job was completed in about two hours. They gave us a ride to and from downtown so we didn't have to wait there (there isn't a waiting room). Everyone was nice, appeared to work well together and the place was clean. The estimate was itemized and clear. Duke was our mechanic and did a fine job. read more

I had an check-engine light come on, in my 2003 Toyota RAV4. I had it checked at an auto parts store, where they hooked it up to the computer, and gave me the read-out. I went to Joe's Garage, and asked them to find out what the read-out meant I returned 1 1/2 hours later, and they told me they inspected my entire vehicle, found $3,500 in needed repairs. And, presented me with a $150 bill for the complete inspection - which I never asked for, nor was EVER given the information, that they were going to do that. I paid the $150, but I will NEVER go back to them. Because of their behavior, I could NEVER trust them. Very unethical, if not outright dishonest. Oh yes, the check engine light was on because of a loose gas cap. I'm now taking it to another mechanic, to see if any of those "needed repairs" actually exist. read more

I went in to have my brake pads changed a while back. The guy quoted me at $900. For a brake job! At first i didn't understand everything he was charging me for until I picked it up and went over the receipt. He included everything I didn't need such as rotors. My brakes weren't grinding or anything and weren't even that bad yet...and things I didn't agree to as well including an oil change. I just had my oil changed not that long before I brought my car to joe's and it didn't need it yet. Just lots of unnecessary service. I had to wait a week or so to even have them look at my car, then I had to drop it off and wait, and when the technician called and quoted me on the price, I was so stunned. I should have said no and picked up my car and brought it to somewhere else for a second opinion, but I really just needed my car and couldn't wait anymore. If you're a woman and are worried about mechanics ripping you off and doing way more than necessary, don't come here. there are better mechanics that won't do every little unnecessary thing they can. What a fantastic decision I made with the guidance of others. I won't bore any readers with the two week plus ordeal with my sons car. BUT having Larry from Joe's (and Evan stepping in when Larry actually had to tend to customers other than me - LOL) on our "team" has been a godsend. SO patient with one question after another, one request after another. Very transparent and so helpful "talking out" my choices with me. My only disappointment is they are two hours away and too far for me to use personally. Money & Quality of wok ... very reasonable and excellent! I couldn't recommend more. My '92 Acura Integra seemed to have an issue under the hood....little smoke or steam seemed to be rising from time to time over the last month. A couple days ago I was worried enough to take it to a shop. I found good reviews for Joe's and it was somewhat close to where I lived so I called them up. The person on the other end of the phone was very helpful in asking some basic questions (check the radiator level gauge and overfill container before coming in was one such question). Then bring the car in. I went right over and they asked a few more questions and then I gave them the key and they gave me a ride home. The next morning I received an email that they were working on the car and would get back w/ me when they had some info. About noon I called to check in. Stephanie was the mechanic working on the car and was still trying to trace the problem. It wasn't anything in the front wheel well -brakes etc(which is the location under the hood where I thought some smoke was coming from) but there was oil on the pan under the motor. I was called a little later and told that there was a hole in one of the hoses (a very short hose inconveniently located in a small tight spot to the left of the engine. The problem was finding a replacement hose (being a 1992 car has its problems) and then the repair involved removing hoses and air filter parts and unless something broke in the process or had to be removed to get to the hose, it could cost between 20 and 600.00. The best suggestion was that being a minor pinhole that time would be the best option (finding a replacement hose either new or used) and keeping an eye on the leak because I didn't have the hundreds of dollars needed if things went badly. I really appreciated the fact that a woman was working on my car....that was impressive and a first for me. Having worked in the boating industry, I know what an uphill battle it is to work in male dominated work industry. NOW.....six days later I couldn't deal w/ the smoke rising from my car's hood...so I took it out to Florence where my former mechanic shop is located. They told me they would buy a new hose and adapt it to replace the old hose. They took an hour and replaced the hose and less than 100.00 later my car is fixed. I think I will have to find another mechanic or go back to the coast to get repairs done (unless towing is involved). BUMMER. read more

Needed a CV Axle replacement for my 2006 Volvo V70. previously got a $300 quote from my trusted mechanic in Beaverton 9 month prior. Now living in Eugene, wanted to find a new mechanic . Found Joes via a WOM recommendation. Was given a phone quote in the same range by Joes service person ($280-320). Took vehicle in. Got shuttled home by Stephanie. Later I Received an update call from Spencer that the tie rod end should be replaced as well(additional $100 with no added labor) I accepted the suggestion. Now all in for $410. Was picked up by Spencer(a really good and conscientious dude). Got final bill $475!?!. we discussed and found that an alignment was done but was not quoted. Drew(i think his name was) quickly handled it and removed the charge. Paid the agreed upon $410. GREAT! Overheard the discussion of mechanics with other customers as I was waiting and appreciated their honest approach and suggestions...giving options and realistic options/outcomes. Definitely gonna start bringing my car here! They have really nice mechanics and front desk staff. Getting stuff fixed will be about the same price in most places but I don't really complain about that. If it needs to be done, it needs to be done right? Anyway they always get it done fast and are super friendly and always explain what needs to be done and why. (I know my share about cars but sometimes I need to know about these technical terms, you know) also, they don't try to sell me shit and shove it down my throat. This is one of the worst mechanics I have ever encountered. I brought my Tacoma in to have the locks, handles, and latches replaced on my door. About three weeks later they told me my truck was ready, but when I tested the door it was still broken. They said they used "used" parts so there was no warrantee on them, therefore I needed to pay them more money to have my door fixed. A couple hundred dollars later my door was still not fixed. These guys are scam artists. I paid them hundreds of dollars and they never fixed a thing! I will never go there again. I ended up taking the truck to a friend who fixed it perfectly in less than an hour. read more

After getting the run-around and terrible service from the local Dodge Dealer service shop I saw the great reviews for Joe's and figured we would give them a try. We were not disappointed! They offered to replace a cam shaft sensor for just $125 (the Dodge Dealer wanted $350 and this would be the third replacement done by them in 10 years, outrageous). There was no pressure to upsell and replace the head as well like from the Dodge Dealer (would be another $2,300). The repair was complete in just 1 1/2 hours on a Monday morning! They have a TON of staff working to achieve these sort of repair times. The staff was courteous and both the shop and staff had a clean and organized appearance despite all the activity. These guys are great. They've worked on my daughter's car before, but this time I was in town visiting & I needed help. They got me in right away. They were able to replace my radiator the same day. While sitting in their lot after the repair, their guy noticed a puddle forming (even after they pressure tested it). Good thing too. It turned out my 26 y/o vehicle needed a new water pump too. We were in a family trip and stayed one night in Eugene, Oregon. We were about to drive the next day to Washington but we notice that our van was shaking when my husband started the engine and the lights on the dashboard was showing VSC/ Trac off/engine check light was flashing. We didn't know anybody around the area so we checked on yelp and it shows Joe's Garage and read the feedbacks fr. there previous customers so we drove there very slowly. We were greeted by Mr. Darin Davis the owner of the automotive shop. He was very helpful and direct to the point and did not give us excuses and was able to fixed the problem of our car less than 1 hour. read more

We hit a rock with our Subaru and bent the driver side tire rod end. My daughter was the one who did it and took it in and made arrangements for them to fix it. The estimated cost was $450. When we checked with them later the estimated cost was $2400. She was going to have to pay for It with her own funds which are fairly meager. We then decided that we would have someone else do it at a less expensive charge and they made it abundantly clear that we were to be charge for an evaluation fee. This was not discussed with her ahead of time and neither was the $2400. I have no idea if they would've done a good job but their ethics prior to this strike me as being very suspect. Kathy was neither Professional nor kind. Clearly they were insulted that their price was too high and it strikes me that people who feel guilty about something are the most defensive. read more

Had issues with car shutting down, icons flashing, intermittent starting and stopping. Diagnosis advised replacing battery and alternator. Problem still occurring. Had car there for 8 days to observe and test drive. Long story short the wiring harness was the culprit. During the 8 day stay the car was returned extremely dusty and sap from a tree had run down the windows and stained the paint with two new scratches that were not there previously. The owner was a very nice fellow and did see the fix through to the end. I paid $1500.00 for the original work that did not cure the problem but did get the problem resolved at no extra cost when they had it for several more days of diagnosis. So it did get fixed. I found the owner to be trustworthy and honest but was flummoxed to not get the scratches taken care of and to be given the car back in such poor condition. I do think he realized that the issue with the dirt/dust, sap, stain and scratches were their fault since it had apparently been parked under a tree in a cramped lot across the street. The car should not have been given back in that condition. After getting home I sent pictures to him immediately after inspecting showing the sap stains and scratches but he has elected not to take care of the two scratches when the car was in their care. Car running good after several months but scratches are still there. With all being said I was satisfied with the end result but dissatisfied with the scratches not being taken care of when the car was in their care for the 8 day period. Great experience, start to finish. I ended up with a flat tire a few blocks from the shop coincidentally, so I ended up there simply because it was closer than my regular shop and I was able to limp it across the street. They were able to swap the tire with the spare within ten minutes of my arrival despite being in the middle of a busy workday. They ordered an exact match that day (tire had a nasty cut really close to the wall) and had it installed early the next morning. It cost me $188 in total, the tire was $160, just a hair over what I could find online. The labor cost was a steal considering the turnaround. Overall, I would absolutely consider going to them again over my usual favorite, Bob James Auto in Eugene, just a few blocks away. read more
