Everything I ordered was terrible. Chicken fingers were soggy with no flavor. Fries and onion rings weren't cooked all the way through. Garlic bread was hard as a rock. I normally order from here with no problems but this time was the absolute worst. read more

I come here often and I like to get the rigatoni in vodka sauce which is delicious. I've had it at other restaurants but this place makes it the best. I live down the block from Joe's so I am close by and have eaten there several times. I would recommend this place to anyone with an appetite. I love the Chicken Vesuvio, it melts in your mouth. The special pizza, deep dish, although it takes longer, is out of this world and worth the wait. I had ordered a pan pizza and thin crust. They tasted pretty good, but they ended up both being thin crust pizzas -- they made my pan pizza as a thin crust. The second I walked in David our server was extremely enthusiastic! He was wonderful and was very active with all of us, very personable. Best server i've ever had. Regular customer (at least once per week). Their pizza, thin crust or pan, is very good. Have tried the sausage, pepperoni, black olive and fresh tomato as well as plain cheese--all tasty. Order the ravioli and receive 5 LARGE ravioli with PLENTY of sauce and a side of grated cheese and bread. Mostacioli and lasagna also come in large-sized portions. The eggplant parmesan is delicious. Have also enjoyed the cheeseburger deluxe and sausage sandwich. Pick it up or have it delivered piping hot. Save 20 menus for a free small cheese pizza. Their recently remodeled dining room is pleasant and usually not too crowded. It is still casual dining--basically the same food as is served on the carry-out menu. Soda pop is served in cans (no free refills, but they carry a large variety of brands of soda). read more

I've been eating here for 25 years. Never been crazy about the rest of the menu, but the pizza has always been great.

We had an amazing meal at Joe's! We had the calamari, jalapeño poppers, chopped salad and pepperoni pizza. They were all absolutely delicious but I give my highest marks to the chopped salad. The service, although slow because it was so busy, was excellent because the waiter Dave was working very hard and was doing his best meet the needs of all of the customers. I've eaten in/gotten delivery a handful of times from Joe's, and it's never disappointed. Classic old-school Chicago thin (but not tavern/cracker thing) pizza, with a great balance, nice sauce and generous portion of cheese. Chicken tenders are also perfectly done and meaty as hell. Don't order the calamari here it's horrible. I had an order to pick up at 8 and came a bit early like 7:45. I STILL went back because my order was cold. They told me they'll make a new order but ended putting my same order in the deep fryer like I wouldn't notice. Shit taste like straight ass. Just moved to the area and was immediately in search of a local pizza place. I was very pleased to find this location. The prices are reasonable and the quality is great. When I lived in Bucktown many moons ago my favorite was J&J Pizza @ the corner of Damen & Wabansia and JOE"S is now my favorite, simply the best. Went in on New Year's Eve at about 6 pm. Fantastically clean place with the friendliest server. We ordered a 14-inch pizza with light cheese, sausage, pepper, and mushroom. It was piping hot, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the crust was crisp and delicious. One of the best pizzas I have had in a long time, even compared to Pat's. This is my usual go-to place for take home pizza. Generally, the orders are pretty accurate and the food is really good. I do have a complaint after last night, though. I had a coupon (printed from their website) for a Free 12" Cheese Pizza with a $25 purchace. Once the food arrived home (hubby picked it up) I noticed that the "Free 12" Cheese Pizza" was smaller than the 12" pizza we had purchased. I got out a tape measure and sure enough....they only gave us a 10" cheese pizza. Not that big of a deal, you say? Well...imagine if they did this to every customer they have. read more

Had a wonderful experience. Our waiter, I believe his name was Frank or Joe, was amazing. He was so wonderful with my child. My child was getting fussy and he was so sweet and was talking with him and brought him ice cream without even asking. He then went and got a Popsicle for my nephew. So friendly and brought everything out quickly. Kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything or especially that my son and nephew didn't need anything. I lived in Chicago up 'til 1983 and ate Joe's at least once a month. I visit Chicago about 3-4 times per year and each time order a Joe's Pizza. I ate a Joe's Pizza just 3 months ago and was considering ordering one tonight. These reviews are worrying me though. They were just remodeling their dining room in March. Took my kids here for some pizza and I couldn't be happier with not just the double dough pizza but the service that we got from David was awesome!!. Frank the owner came out to check on us. I live right around the corner and I have a family of 4, 2 of them are picky eaters. I'm disabled and my illness has me in bed for weeks at a time. I also had a major operation in May.. with more coming up. I love their pastas, like every single one!! I'm going to ramble off some favorite dishes for my family,FETTUCINE ALFREDO, BAKED MOSTACCIOLI, GNOCCHI VODKA, LINGUINE IN CLAM SAUCE, CHICKEN PARM, CHICKEN VESUVIO, LEMON CHICKEN, BABY BACK RIBS.. I love all their salads, minus onions. My 4 year old son loves the Chicken Finger Dinner, I prefer the Fried Chicken. As a whole, we love the Hawaiian! This review sounds like a 400 woman wrote it BUT I'm a tiny 110 pounds. Since surgery I've lost 35 pounds and each time my appetite is ok, I order out pasta.. or something with lots of calories. End of story conclusion: Joe's is GREAT! The little dining area is nice and quaint, perfect to use for an emergency date night. They serve booze for the people that partake. Joe's is exactly the kinda place that you'd want in your neighborhood! They are like "Cheers!" to me. (You know!!! The place where every body knows your name!) Except I just call it in for Take Out. I've been ordering from Joe's since I was a kid and to this day I love their food. It's not AMAZING pizza or anything but it's good and it's local. Their chicken fingers are heavenly! They might be a bit pricy on everything that isn't pizza but I don't really order a whole lot else. The delivery guys are nice and usually quick. The only knock I have is 2 of the 3 people that answer the phone really aren't pleasant. The lady that answers the phone usually sounds like you're bothering her and she's taking time from doing something else to "deal" with you. The guy that answers the phone couldn't care less and just tries to rush the order and doesn't spend a second longer than he has to on the call. The younger girl that answers is actually helpful and friendly. I find myself crossing my fingers hoping she's the one on the phones that day! All that aside, the food is good and I recommend it. read more

First of all.I'm a firm believer in eating pizza from different places. My favorite pizza is Pequods but that doesn't mean that's the only pizza I'm going to eat. No pizza place has the same kind of pizza so it's always nice to change it up a bit with pizzas. So saying that, I will try to review Joe's on it's own merits and not compare it to other pizza places. Joe's Pizza is at its best when it's making thin crust pizza. It is a classic tavern style pizza, you can't go wrong with that. You also aren't going to go out of your way to get this pizza. It is a local hangout in the middle of a residential area which I personally am 2 blocks away from. It's really nice to be able to order a pie and walk on over to pick it up. The restaurant is clean and has a small bar but I've never really had a desire to sit down and eat there. Pick up is where it's at. The prices are also reasonable, an x-large pizza with 2 toppings is usually around $20. They offer other food but this is Joe's Pizza not Joe's Italian food place. So it always feels weird ordering other things besides pizza, don't expect amazing appetizers but they are ok. I don't knock points for that because the focus is on the pizza. I've never really had an issue with this place, they have never been rude to me and they have never messed up my order. The only time I had an issue was when I found some weird burnt pieces under my pizza, I had noticed when I picked it up that they had a big cup full of burnt pizza. I assumed they had burnt a pizza in the oven and hadn't fully scraped it off. A minor thing but still. And from what I read from some of the other reviews I have noticed a difference in the pizza. It's not that it's bad but there definitely is a change in how it tastes. The last time I ordered pizza from here it tasted kind of bland. Something was different but I couldn't put my finger on it. I sure hope it was only a fluke that day and that they haven't opted to buy cheaper ingredients. I would rather pay a little more for the same pizza rather than pay the same price for an inferior pizza. Anyway, great local pizzeria. I'm glad to have it near me. read more
