I was in harvard square do some work and decided to pick up couple slices from Joes. I never had Joe's in NY where they are originally based from but the pizza from this Joe's were amazing. The slices were $4.50 each and i got a Pepperoni and Cheese. Even though the slice are expensive the size are big as well. Just like NY floppy and chewy in a good way. The pizza was really flavorful and cheese had good flavor rather most of them which are now so cheap and bland that there is no taste to them . I have to say I wasn't super impressed by this well-known and highly touted pizzeria that's arrived into Harvard Square and apparently made a huge splash. The mozarella basil pizza slice was decent, but much too thin (I guess they specialize in a thin crust?). Also the basil got sort of 'cooked; which is not good. Also got a gourmet or supreme (I forgot the exact wording) which was a mix of various types of meats and onions. Given that it's $6 per slice (what world do we live in!), I was less than impressed. I'm from NY - Central NY, and NY Pizza is advertised everywhere. But it wasn't until the late '70s that I discovered what I consider authentic NY Pizza, and that was at Joe's in NYC! So I was excited to see Joe's coming to my new haunts in Harvard Square and the place did not disappoint. My first order was a large Supreme. I found it hard to find what is on a "Supreme", so I am not sure if it is always the same, but for us it included sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and sliced red onions. The crust was nicely charred as only a very hot oven can do. I walked in at about 6 pm, there was a line, but I ordered in less than 5 minutes and was taking our pizza out in 20. While waiting I noticed that more than half of the orders were for the giant slices, the Caprese seemingly the favorite. As I was planning my trip to Harvard, I was pleased to see the recently opened Joe's conveniently located nearby. I fell in love with Joe's when I went to NYC in 2019, so I HAD to have a slice (even though I was going to have dinner in three hours, lol). This Joe's is a bit roomier than the ones in NYC, with more seating! I chose one slice of pepperoni pizza. This didn't disappoint! I can't describe it, but there's nothing like this in San Diego. The crust is perfectly thin and crispy with the right amount of sauce, cheese, and topping ratio. My daughter wanted to go back again, but we had no time! I recently learned that this place opened in Boston, Ma 7 months ago. When I go to or drive through New York City I always have to stop at a Joe's Pizza... usually the one on Fulton St. I live in Fall River so that's a 3 hour ride. They've got some of the best NY style pizza in my opinion. The toppings are simple yet delicious and the crust is crispy and light and just perfectly cooked. You can order by the slice or order a whole big pie. This new location in Boston definitely did not disappoint, the employees were pleasant, patient and helpful to all of the people walking in, some you could tell it was their first time. The pizza tasted just like the Joe's in NY and it's 2 hours closer. I was told that they are looking to open another location in Ma. I hope they open many more across the state... it would be nice to have a Joe's close to home. read more

Too wilty too floppy thin crust has taken over nyc style pizza. When I grew up in nyc it was never this thin and never floppy. The Neapolitan influence took over its a shame because ny pizza is better than Neapolitan pizza besides if you're gonna make such thin crust you need a firewood oven 900 degrees to make the pie in 90 seconds. I think this thin crusts is to make more money off the flour. Having said all that the crust was well seasoned and had a good chew the sauce was very good though i would like it a tad bit sweeter and the cheese was kind of tough once it cooled off in my mouth mind you I got lucky and got that slice fresh out of the oven from a new pie. I like it better than all the pizza in Boston except regina on thatcher and frank pepe in watertown those are better I think because of the cheese. Each slice ranges from $4-$6. I got the Fresh Mozzarella, Pepperoni, Supreme, and Cheese. Cheese: 4.8/5 Didn't expect the cheese to be my fav, such a good cheese pizza with it being light and crispy so good!! I do wish there was more cheese but it's personal preference Supreme: 4.5/5 Really close to 1st, loved the combination especially with the onions. Wasn't heavy on the stomach even though it had the roni and sausage Fresh Mozzarella: 3.5/5 this was what I was most excited for, but it wasn't as hot as the the rest of the slices so my mozzarella pulled off as I was eating it and thought it be stretchy. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and were able to walk right up to the counter with quick service. The pricing threw me off for the slice I ordered (white pizza) because the price was different on the board than on the register when they rang me up. However, they were able to quickly heat up our slices and stood at a standing table outside to enjoy our slices. Overall the pizza itself was pretty good. This is not just some knock-off. I grew up in NJ eating real pizza by real Italians who have no interest on skimping on size or ingredients/toppings. The love has absolutely carried over to this location, at least I felt it in my pie tonight. It's not absolutely covered in toppings like my go-to place back home, but absolutely nothing to sneeze at. I haven't opened a pizza box in MA with the sides of the pie folded up, the sweetness of the sauce, the perfect chew of the dough and crust... in a world of places trying to turn themselves into chains by opening locations in cities outside of where they started and falling flat (looking at you Pepe's and Sally's... yea I know NH pizza too) this stands apart. Very popular for sure! Joe's is a staple for sure in New York City and I'm glad it's here in Boston! The pizzeria is located in the center of Harvard Square at a nice corner shop. It's very clean inside with some hightop tables. I've tried the cheese pizza, Sicilian pizza and the caprese pizza here at Joe's and J can officially say that the captese pizza is my favorite! There's the perfect amount of tomatoes, cheese and basil which makes the pizza feel light and fresh! I love a slice late night, which is good cause Koe's opens very late! The whole pizzas can be pretty expensive however, so it would be nice if they could lower the prices a little bit in general. However, there was way too much flop on the pizza and I couldn't even pick it up from the plate to eat it. The cheese also fell off very easily.
